Henri and Miko: Winter in Bosk Olivette
Join best friends Henri and Miko on their snowbound adventures in the wooded village of Bosk Olivette in an enchanting new picture book series from New York Times–bestselling illustrator Rebecca Green. This beautiful gift book for fans of Beatrix Potter, Brambly Hedge and Calico Critters includes a recipe, activities, a cross-section gatefold and more!
Beyond the Phelps County Orchard, in a stretch of woods known as Bosk Olivette, at the bottom of a lone black maple, you'll discover a cider press. But not just any cider press . . . welcome to the home of Henri and Miko!
Henri the mouse and Miko the bee adore winter. Even on the coldest of days there is so much to do. There are snowballs to throw, snowcakes to decorate and candlelit feasts to gather 'round.
The pair revel in the wonders of the festive season, but most of all, Henri and Miko celebrate friendship — with old friends, and new ones too! Together, it surely will be a winter to remember.
A delightfully cozy and tenderhearted series of little adventures for little readers — and for big readers who love tiny pleasures!

Once again, the illustrations were beautiful. However, for me, this lacked the magic of the autumn book.

So cute and cozy!! This book was full of winter magic and stunning illustrations! I loved how this book was divided into different adventures and snowy day adventures!
There’s literally so so much in this book from recipes, poems, to step by step how to drawings. This book would be the perfect gift during the winter months! Absolutely recommend!

Winter has come to Bosk Olivette and the little cider press where Henri and Miko live, and they are [excited] ready! Well, mostly ready. ;-) Miko is missing a snowsuit and nothing they try works [and then Miko is sad that they cannot go outside to play] until beloved friends step in and help [and then a fun nighttime snowball fight ensues]. There is a snowcake party to prepare for, where something unexpected and fun happens, and of course, MUCH hot cocoa needs to be drunk [with fluffy marshmallows naturally], and gingerbread eaten.
BUT...
Before you know it though, winter is over and Henri and Miko are saying good-bye to all those fun times and are now anticipating all that spring will bring.
These are lovely little stories surrounded by really fantastic [and intricately detailed] illustrations, and it was a real joy to read this.

Bosk Olivette Is Officially My Favorite Seasonal Trap
Thank you to NetGalley and Tundra Books for providing an advance reading copy.
⭐️ 5/5 | 🎨 Illustrations: 5/5
I read the fall installment of Henri and Miko and loved it, so I had very high hopes for winter. Somehow, Rebecca Green managed to give me everything I loved about returning to Bosk Olivette without making this feel like the same book with snow added.
This is SO cozy.
Rather than building around one big event, the book feels like a collection of tiny winter experiences. Henri, Miko, and their friends bundle up, play outside, spend time together, and enjoy all the little rituals and details that make a season feel like a season. That structure is a huge part of the charm for me. It feels less like watching a story happen and more like getting to visit Bosk Olivette for the winter.
And the illustrations! They somehow feel organic, soft, and warm even when everything is covered in snow. There are so many tiny details to look at, and the artwork is doing just as much work as the words to create that cozy feeling.
There is a decent amount of text for a picture book, but I really liked how it’s organized into panels and boxes. It breaks everything into manageable little pieces, directs your eye around the page, and keeps the amount of text from ever feeling overwhelming.
The extras are also genuinely worth stopping for. The Winter Treasures pages capture everything I love about these books—the clothes, food, activities, objects, and tiny seasonal details all together. And teaching the reader how to draw Miko ice skating? LOVE. Those additions actually invite kids to spend more time in this world instead of feeling like filler tacked onto the end.
At its heart, though, this is still about friendship and enjoying these little experiences together. Even something as simple as a group hug made me go, awww. 🥹
I would give this ten stars if NetGalley would let me. Fall was not a fluke. Apparently Bosk Olivette is a cozy little seasonal trap, and I live here now. 😂❄️🦊
Who Should Read?
Kids who love cozy seasonal books, woodland worlds, friendship, little details to discover, and interactive extras—and absolutely the whimsy-loving adults who will pretend they’re only reading it for the children.
Thank you to NetGalley and Tundra Books for providing an advance reading copy.

HENRI & MIKO: WINTER IN BOSK OLIVETTE is a cozy read about friendship and the joy of winter. Henri and Miko are best friends who live in a small village. In this book, they first find a snowsuit for Miko, including marshmallows, socks, and cotton balls, then they have a snowcake party!
What I loved: This is a fun blend of picture book and graphic novel, great for early elementary school readers who will enjoy longer stories but with plenty of images. The stories themselves are easy to follow along with and enjoy, all themed around winter. This works well for young readers who will love the dynamics of best friends, the lovely images, and the celebration of winter joy present throughout.
The illustrations are lovely with such a cozy feel and great use of color. Each scene is gently pictured with a focus on the characters, their kindness and relatable antics. The text is abundant but clear with each panel of the story being written like a picture book with the text attributing the speech, but the fun of a graphic novel with many images on each page and no more than a sentence or two for each image.
The book also includes some fun extras in after each story with poems, recipes, drawing lessons, and more! These really added to the fun and extended the joy of the story beyond the pages.
Final verdict: HENRI & MIKO: WINTER IN BOSK OLIVETTE is a cozy, sweet book about friendship and winter that will work well for young elementary school aged readers!
Please note that I received an ARC. All opinions are my own.

Join Henri the mouse and Miko the bee in the wintry forest of Bosk Olivette, where snowy days abound and friends are just a hop and a skip away. The first adventure is all about Miko's missing snowsuit, and trying out different solutions (marshmallow? too sticky! cotton balls? not so good when they get wet) until the friends find the perfect way to enjoy the snow day together. For the second, the friends prepare for the annual snow cake gathering, where they round up their neighbors and forage in the woods for the perfect ingredients to put on their snow cake sculptures. And when someone shows up with a real cake by mistake, well, the critters decide maybe it's time to add on a new tradition.
Creativity and the joy of friendship abound in these adorable, slice of life, comic panel style stories. When troubles arise, like a missing snowsuit, Henri and Miko are quick to offer ideas and enjoy the journey of trying them all. They have a cozy can do attitude and and positive outlook in every situation, and these slice of life stories highlight keeping a smile through small setbacks and seeing the silver linings in surprises.
No matter the season, pick this up to enter a snowy, cozy world and keep an eye out for other adventures from Henri and Miko!

Using lush imagery to depict a traditionally boring and dead world, Henri and Miko: Winter in Bosk Olivette brings life and appreciation to a season of waiting and renewal. Tucked away at the root flare of the black maple is the cider press, home to Henri and Miko. Mouse and bee best friends teach readers how to make the most of the coldest weather, finding joy in every little moment from the pancake flips, to errant snowflake upon the bed, and building snowcakes with friends. Illustrated within comic boxes and creatively worded, this story begs readers to make their own list of winter activities to partake in, staying focused and using creativity to solve problems that arise along the way. Filled with sweet stories, poetry, step-by-step drawing, and even a recipe, this installment in the Henri and Miko series highlights the value of friendship in dormant seasons of life, embracing bitterness where it finds you, and finding gratitude when the time comes for it to end.

I first read Henri & Miko: Autumn in Bosk Olivette and fell absolutely in love with this author and illustrator. These books truly are perfect for getting excited for each season. Henri & Miko's friendship is so darling and I love seeing what they get up to in their quaint forest village and in their cider press home. The color in Winter in Bosk Olivette is absolutely stunning. Icy blues and purples that capture all the chill of winter and the coziest of reds and oranges that give the pages the glow of a fire.
The story is also filled with so many wonders of winter: snowmen, snowball fights, holly, ribbon, hot cocoa, cookies, stew, snow angels, sledding, cozy clothes, ornaments, lights, and holiday parties with friends. I was also amused by the ever important end of winter question: did we eat enough gingerbread?! Excited to add a physical copy of this to my shelf!!

This is such a wonderful addition to the Henri and Miko books. It's full of cozy woodland charm and I love how it captures the magic of winter. The illustrations are absolutely delightful and I enjoyed the page detailing how to draw Miko ice skating.
Part of what makes these books so magical is the clear friendship and camaraderie the characters all share. They find joy in every moment and I love how they work together to solve their problems.
This is a lovely, comforting book perfect for winter. I can see us reading it over and over again, and I'm excited to try Miko's hot cocoa recipe on our next snow day.

Henri and Miko: Winter in Bosk Olivette is another lovely addition to Rebecca Green’s sweet series. It captures the quiet magic of winter with the same cozy charm that made Autumn in Bosk Olivette so special.
My kids loved spending time with Henri the mouse and Miko the bee as they explored the joys of the season. The gentle adventures, warm friendship, and little details throughout the story make it such a comforting read for chilly days. It’s a beautiful reminder to slow down and enjoy the simple moments we share with the people we love.

Henri and Miko: Winter in Bosk Olivette is a children’s picture book about two roommates spending winter together with their friends.
This, much like Autumn in Bosk Olivette, was an absolutely adorable book. The art style is super cozy, and I loved seeing the forest creatures hang out and enjoy the wintertime. Unfortunately, it’s not winter yet, so I can’t have a snow cake party😔
If you also love picture books with woodland creatures doing cozy activities, you will love this.

What a unique picture book/graphic novel mashup! I was thrilled to receive a copy of this book from Tundra and absolutely loved this sweet, heartwarming story featuring the cutest friends, Henri the mouse and Miko the bee.
Filled with warmth, charm, and gentle humor, this delightful read has the timeless feel of a modern classic. It's a story readers will want to revisit again and again -- I have no doubt it will become a favorite!

5 stars! ⭐️
This book is so pretty! The illustrations are incredibly detailed and honestly look like little pieces of art. I could spend so much time just looking at the pictures.
I also really liked the mix of a graphic novel and a picture book. It was really cool to see, and the different page layouts made the story even more fun to read. It kept things feeling fresh instead of every page looking the same.

Oh this and the Autumn one were DARLING!
I grew up on Brambly Hedge books and the stop-motion show and this truly captures the charm and wonder I felt with that story.
I also loved that we have a breaks in-between stories like drawing activities, poems and recipes.
