ARC REVIEW

Kathryn and Sebastian are back with another unwanted adventure. Kathryn is still recovering from the duke. Sebastian tries his best to be there for her. Tiberion is early for his turn, and of course, things don’t happen as planned. Sebastian once again loses his cool, and things get messy. I am really enjoying this series. The spice between Kathryn and Sebastian heats up even more. Fingers crossed they end up together!

A Softer Yet Still Troubling Chapter in The Twelve Nights of Christmas

I’m giving His Father’s Sin by Darcy Fayton 3.5 stars, and in many ways, that feels like the most honest place to land after such a turbulent stretch in this series.

Coming off the deeply unsettling events of His Broken Vow , I was almost relieved that this installment initially leans into a more emotional, introspective tone. There is a noticeable shift from shock value toward something quieter, more internal—grief, guilt, and fragile attempts at reconnection between Kathryn and Sebastian. That said, while I appreciated the intention, I’m not entirely convinced the execution reached its full potential.

His Father’s Sin ♦ Darcy Fayton - A Review

Opinion
One of the central devices in this story—the exploration of shared memories through Kathryn’s blood—is undeniably important for understanding both characters and their fractured bond. It should feel intimate, invasive, and revelatory all at once. However, for me, it didn’t quite land with the emotional weight it promised. The idea is strong, but the portrayal felt somewhat muted, as though it skimmed the surface of something that could have been far more visceral and psychologically complex.

A recurring issue I continue to struggle with in this series is the imbalance of power. The world Fayton has built is clearly rooted in a kind of paranormal patriarchy where autonomy—especially Kathryn’s—is fragile at best. On one hand, I can absolutely understand Kathryn’s desperation. After what she endured the previous night, her attempt to reclaim even a fragment of control, to grasp at anything resembling agency, makes sense on a conceptual level. But the way this manifests—particularly her decision to seduce Sebastian and engage in sex less than 24 hours after experiencing extreme sexual violence—felt rushed and, frankly, difficult to reconcile emotionally. Trauma doesn’t follow a neat timeline, of course, but here it seemed more like narrative urgency than organic character response.

Sebastian himself remains a complicated figure. Even with the additional context we’ve been given since His Forbidden Bargain, I still find it hard to fully understand Kathryn’s continued attraction to him. There’s a disconnect between what we are told—his suffering, his past, his constraints—and what we are shown in terms of their dynamic. The emotional logic doesn’t always align, which makes their relationship feel more imposed than inevitable.

The introduction (or rather, arrival) of Tiberion adds a compelling layer of tension. His presence is immediately unsettling in that polished, controlled way that signals danger beneath civility. The promise to erase Kathryn’s debt is, of course, too convenient to be trustworthy, and knowing the structure of this twelve-part series, it was clear that this “solution” wouldn’t come without significant cost. Still, I appreciated the atmosphere he brings. There’s a sense that the story is expanding beyond the immediate relationship drama into something more deliberately orchestrated, something generational and deeply manipulative.

One aspect I found particularly frustrating, however, is the lingering question around Kathryn’s lost memories. The absence of clarity—whether these memories were repressed by her own mind or actively taken—feels like a missing piece that continues to weaken the emotional stakes. Without that understanding, certain reactions and attachments lack grounding, leaving me more confused than intrigued.

That said, I do want to highlight something the book does well: Kathryn herself. Despite everything, she is not portrayed as someone easily broken. There is resilience there, even if it sometimes manifests in ways that feel narratively strained. That core strength keeps me invested, even when the surrounding dynamics falter.

Conclusion
Overall, His Father’s Sin feels like a transitional installment—one that sets up larger revelations and deeper conflicts, but doesn’t fully satisfy on its own. It’s emotionally richer than its predecessor in some ways, yet still uneven in execution. I remain curious about where the series is heading, but I’m also hoping for more coherence in character motivation and a more balanced exploration of power moving forward.

Darcy Fayton seriously just keeps making this series darker, more twisted and more addictive with every single book. 🖤 His Father’s Sin picks up right after the events of His Broken Vow and I was dying to see what was going to happen with Kathryn and Sebastian.

I absolutely loved getting more of Kathryn and Sebastian together in this one. Their relationship is so complicated and damaged but underneath all of that you can really feel how much they care about each other. Getting more glimpses into their past and Kathryn’s missing memories had me completely invested.

And then Tiberion shows up. 😒 I KNEW I didn’t trust that man. The second he offered them a way out of the bargain I was sitting there thinking there is absolutely no way this is going to be that easy. And of course, it wasn’t! His manipulation and betrayal made me so freaking angry.

Kathryn continues to amaze me with how strong she is after everything she has been put through and Sebastian somehow keeps making me love him even when I want to shake him. 😂🖤

This series has completely sucked me in. Every book gives us a few more answers while creating about twenty more questions and I NEED to know how Kathryn and Sebastian’s story ends.

Bring on book five because apparently I enjoy emotional suffering. 😂🖤

This gritty, emotionally charged paranormal romance picks up right where the last book ends, so the series is best read in order. Fast-paced and packed with tension, action, violence, and spice, the story dives deeper into Kathryn and Sebastian’s complicated relationship. Sebastian’s morally gray nature is balanced by his fierce love and protectiveness, while Kathryn remains a strong yet conflicted heroine struggling with shame, survival, and desire. As they grow closer, devastating revelations and cruel bargains threaten to destroy them. Dark, addictive, and filled with explicit content including noncon/dubcon themes, voyeurism, and forced exhibitionism, this novella is a gripping addition to the series.

His Father’s Sin is an emotional and engaging addition to The Twelve Nights of Christmas series that brings both tension and heart to the story.

What stood out to me most was the emotional undercurrent throughout the book. There’s a sense of past choices and consequences that shapes the characters and adds weight to their journey.

The story unfolds in a way that keeps you invested, with moments that feel both meaningful and layered as relationships develop and truths come to light.

For me, this lands at 4 ⭐ because it was a compelling and enjoyable read, even though I found myself wanting just a bit more depth in certain moments.

Why this worked for me:

• the emotional themes add depth to the story

• the characters feel shaped by their pasts

• the relationships are engaging to follow

• the story keeps you interested throughout

Emotional. Layered. Engaging.

This book gave us a little bit of space to breath after the Duke's book, but just when we think things are looking up for poor Kathryn, Tiberion (step daddy dearest) shows his true ugly deceitful nature

I'm excited to keep reading and I hope you come join in the fun... but remember it's important to read the books in order (this is number 4) and check the trigger warnings!!

There was never safety in trusting Sebastian’s father, only the illusion of it, thin as a blade and just as cruel. But desperation has a way of tightening its grip until choice becomes a myth. Cornered, suffocating between dread and inevitability, Kathryn had nowhere left to turn but toward Tiberion’s poisoned promise: salvation, whispered like a lie you want to believe. The idea that her suffering might end after just one more night of degradation is a hope so fragile, so grotesquely tempting, it borders on madness. Trust was never part of the equation, only inevitability. And yet, against this suffocating darkness, something softer pulses. His Father’s Sin is not devoid of light, it merely buries it deep, where it flickers in defiance. The bond between Kathryn and Sebastian deepens and grows intimate, becoming more dangerous in its vulnerability. When Sebastian accepts her offer of blood, their shared memories unfold like a dream—lush, haunting, and edged with something unknowable. But beneath that beauty lies a fracture: Kathryn’s missing memories linger like a wound that refuses to close. Why they are gone remains a gnawing mystery, made all the more unsettling by Sebastian’s reluctance to confront it. His silence feels less like protection and more like fear. Even so, the truth begins to twist into view. Kathryn learns that not everything is as it seems and that Sebastian did not simply throw her to the wolves (quite literally). But revelations offer little comfort here. They only deepen the tragedy. Because at the heart of it all stands Kathryn. Unyielding, shattered, and still somehow moving forward. It’s almost unbearable to witness her persistence, knowing the horrors that await each night. The bargain itself becomes more grotesque with every passing moment, especially in light of the intimacy she now shares with Sebastian. The contrast is brutal: his tenderness colliding with the violence she is forced to endure when darkness falls. It doesn’t just hurt, it devastates. And when hope is offered, only to be ripped away with calculated cruelty, it feels like a deeper kind of violence altogether. And Sebastian does not escape unscathed. His guilt festers, corrosive and relentless, matched only by the rage of his own helplessness. He is both participant and prisoner, bound to a nightmare he cannot undo. There are whispers of something larger stirring in the background with the Conclave and their quiet machinations, but they feel distant compared to the immediate, intimate horror of Kathryn’s ordeal. This is her story, carved in suffering and survival. And as eight more nights stretch ahead, each promising its own descent, it’s impossible not to wonder: how much of a soul can be stripped away before nothing remains?

ARC review

These books keep getting better and better and better. I had not anticipated when picking up the first of Darcy’s book that I would be this exited for ever next instalment.

This fourth one build on the promise of a possible ending to the nightmare. Still the first page claimed eight more of these wonderful books would have to follow. This did dampen the twist ending a bit. Although the betrayal brought on by Tiberion was inevitable, the way in which he managed to chill me to my very bone with his reasoning still surprised me.

This is—as others have stated—the least “violent” of the four that we have now. His Farther’s Sin gives us more glimpses of the backstory surrounding these three characters and the relationship dynamics that lead us to here.

Kathryn has been fairing far better than I would have under the circumstances and still the author makes me believe that this is a way of dealing with it all. The consequences or remnants of the past nights linger in this book and I truly appreciate this. Even with the episodic way in which the books are written the stories of each individual one remain intact while holding up the complete narrative in a perfect balance.

I also specifically look forward to the next few instalments as the fore last chapter promises some further insights into the dynamics of this world.

Lastly, I should’ve realised that perhaps these books were interconnected with the other works of the author. Thus if you’ve read this fourth book and you cannot get enough while having to wait for the fifth—I will start reading Darcy’s earlier works alongside with you. Based on the description of The Kira and Nathanial duet it seems like they might contain relevant information for the future instalments.

I’m so bloody exited

I found this installment to be both enjoyable and a little frustrating.

The thing I enjoyed the most, has been the growing relationship between Sebastian and Kathryn. Through this series, they continue to be the backbone, and this book is the clearest example of that. We get more on their year spent as a couple, a deeper look into the memories that Kathryn has lost, and some answers on why Sebastian has been so cagey about that night, while also giving us a bit more mystery on why these memories are gone. The relationship between them is tender, sweet, yet still holds that tension that makes a fun book romance.

Although, I kinda have to agree with Tiberion – And I am loathed to do so – but maybe we shouldn’t have gone with the 12 nights, when there were plenty of Christmas themed songs with lesser numbers. With the offer on the table, of Tiberion resolving all of their troubles within this one night, with the set up of this being a 12 book series, the shock at the end kinda falls flat cause I was expecting it the moment the man was brought up in the last book – although having to go through that night with him, while waiting for the needle to drop made that encounter even more horrifying.

It does feel like the series is being dragged along, like we’re repeating things in order to fill the 12 book quota. Having this feeling four books in does make me a bit worried, but the political movements dropped at the end of this book renewed my interest. So far Kathryn has been a rather passive participant to this arrangement, so her stepping up and making plans to take down these men who have used, abused and betrayed her has me eager to go into the next book – especially as the next one is being set up for a bit of a reprieve for both Kathryn and the reader.

There will be spoilers in this book; you need to read the previous 3 novellas.

We're back with Kathryn, having informed Sebastian that she is ready to accept his father's offer to go to Rookvane Manor. After the horror of what happened in the last book, she needs this debt repayment to be over with. He tried explaining to her just how much of a monster his father is, and that he knows it won't be what she thinks.

But since they want to just move on with their lives, they need the money owed to no longer be held over their head, so they agree that she will be with him for one hour only and no biting. When it is finally over, something happens that leaves them feeling defeated and upset.

Kathryn still has memory loss, and when Seb drinks from her, he asks that she not go through his memories, as he doesn't want her to find out what happened in the past. He isn't very good at hiding his memories, though, and she gets little snippets from the past, and she wants to know the whole story as she realizes that the truth isn't what she thought, and Seb isn't the person she believed.

The two MCs are getting closer with each book, and the steamy scenes are still amazing! I find myself going back and forth between my feelings toward Seb because of the choices he made, and I still feel bad for Kathryn with all she's enduring.

I was waiting for something a little more intense in this one, which I didn't get, but it was still a good read (I'm addicted to this series!), and I can't wait for the next book!

I went into this book with mixed expectations after the previous installments, and surprisingly… I ended up liking this one a bit more.

It felt less shocking and disturbing, and the addition of the memory element gave the story a slightly deeper emotional layer.

That said, I still find myself struggling with the overall direction of the series.
One of the biggest issues for me is Kathryn’s lost memories. It’s such a central part of the story, yet we never truly understand why it happened. It feels like something important is missing, and instead of building intrigue, it left me confused and slightly disconnected from her journey.

At the same time, some parts of the plot feel almost predictable. After Tiberion’s betrayal, it’s clear the story is being stretched to continue into future books, and while I understand the need for that, it takes away some of the tension.

What I continue to find difficult is the contrast in relationships. On one hand, there’s the emotional, almost tender connection between Kathryn and Sebastian. On the other, there are the darker, harsher scenes involving the patron. This constant switch creates a kind of emotional whiplash that makes it hard to fully settle into the story.

I can understand why Kathryn clings to Sebastian — she needs someone, something to hold onto in all the chaos. But at the same time, some of her choices, especially after everything she goes through, felt hard to reconcile emotionally.

In the end, I’m still invested… but also conflicted. This series keeps pulling me in while pushing me away at the same time.

I thoroughly enjoyed this new, heartfelt story of Kathryn and Sebastian; it continues in this captivating, gritty installment of the paranormal romance series. As the plot picks up right where the previous book left off, I recommend reading the series in order.
The well-written plot is fast-paced and brimming with emotional turmoil, action, violence, and spice.
Warning: The book contains explicit scenes involving noncon/dubcon and consensual sex scenes including voyeurism and forced exhibitionism.
I really like Sebastian and Kathryn’s characters. He is morally gray, but his love for her, his urge to protect her, and his own suffering are palpable throughout the series. Kathryn is a strong but conflicted heroine. She hates what she is forced to do and is at the same time ashamed that her body betrays her. Day by day, Kathryn and Sebastian grow closer and become more open with each other, yet they have to face new challenges and revelations that could tear them apart.

This time, Kathryn’s patron is her stepfather—Sebastian’s father—who had promised to pay off all her debts if Kathryn spent one night with him. Sebastian doesn’t trust his father and is once again forced to watch helplessly as Kathryn agrees to the deal and has to surrender herself to yet another monster…

All in all, a captivating addition to the series and a dark paranormal romance novella featuring endearing protagonists, packed with emotion, action, and explicit sexual content, including scenes involving non-con and dub-von dynamics.

I received a free ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and left voluntarily.

This is the fourth installment in the Twelve Nights of Christmas - so far, Kathryn has suffered brutality and violence and betrayal in an attempt to save her ancestral home. On the fourth night of Christmas, there is a special visitor who comes for tea - a bargain stuck - is this new bargain good enough to save Kathryn and pay off the debts? Or is she going to regret what happens? Sebastian lives with the guilt of having put Kathryn into the original bargain with the Collector, and with each passing night, watching Kathryn be used and abused and violated and tortured, the guilt and anger and hatred are building to a point where Sebastian feels utterly powerless. Can the love and the trust that Kathryn and Sebastian are building be strong enough to withstand what will happen on the 4th night? Is it strong enough to withstand the secrets that come to light? Or is it all going to be too much? I devoured this story, and my heart hurts for what Kathryn has to do - but I understand the feeling of helplessness, and even though she is working on the solution to free herself, it's only day four, and she has paid a much higher price, in my opinion. I admire Kathryn - even with the bargain to complete, she still has her wits about her - pillow talk truly is the way to dismantle kingdoms and learn secrets to tuck away for later. I can't wait to see what ends up happening!!

We’re onto Book 4 of The Twelve Nights of Christmas series, and it just keeps taking me on an emotional rollercoaster.

Kathryn and Sebastian’s relationship continues to grow, and I loved seeing them become each other’s safe place. Even when things shake them, they always find their way back to one another. Some of their vulnerable moments in this book were so beautiful—I melted reading them because they can be incredibly soft and adorable together.

But then… everything comes down to Kathryn spending a night with Tiberion in exchange for clearing her debt. That whole part had me so anxious. It was nerve-wracking, heartbreaking, and honestly had me worried sick. Tiberion is not someone you can trust, and I genuinely don’t understand how anyone could think otherwise.

I’m really excited to see that there might finally be some fight back coming from Kathryn and Sebastian—it has me feeling all kinds of hopeful. I’m loving this series so much!

Note to Darcy: Please don’t break my heart too much in the next books 😭 I know we’re heading for a HEA, but please be gentle with these two 🤣

⚠️ Also, just a reminder to check trigger warnings before starting this series—it can get very dark.

What to expect:
🖤 Dark Paranormal Romance
🧛 Vampire x Human
💞 Second Chance Romance
🔥 Slow Burn
👥 Dual POV
⚠️ Triggering Themes

Thank you to Darcy Fayton and BookSirens for an advanced copy to read. I am voluntarily leaving this review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

'His Father's Sin' sits at a reasonable 2.5 stars for me. Following on from 'His Broken Vow' which is considerably darker, it was nice to read something a little more gentle and emotional. There is less shock value, and explores both Kathryn and Sebastian's grief and guilt throughout their relationship. I do not enjoy stepfather/step daughter dynamics, borderline incestuous and Tiberon ultimately wants to punish his son for falling in love with a human.

The execution of the fourth book was disappointing, it is really frustrating to keep learning about Kathryn's lost memories but being an avid vampire fan, were they repressed or taken. If you compare to TV shows like Vampire Diaries, Twilight or True Blood we know that in vampire lore, humans can be compelled to forget. 'His Father's Sin' is extremely manipulative and I am starting to question why Kathryn is so attracted to Sebastian. I appreciate her resilience throughout the entire series so far, her strength keeps me invested. We really need to see some balance, and the series developing the characters more -- I feel it is still surface level and I want more deep connection.

This 4th book starts more "cozy" if we can even call it that given the genre😅.
We get to discover our main characters Kathryn and Sebastian more. Secrets are uncovered, truths are shared and the two spend the day together. They go on a journey to find some missing pieces that would explain why there are 2 different versions of their shared past.
It’s all light and cozy until it isn’t and then the true darkness takes over… and let me just say it gets sinister!
As the title suggests we meet Sebastian’s father and Kathryn’s step father. The man who was supposed to protect her mother and her but ultimately brought ruin upon them all.

I really enjoyed this new story! We go through so many emotions, the caring, love, passion, the need to cling to something to survive the bargain and the shattering of that flickering spark of hope.
The spice was again 🔥🔥 and I’m impatiently waiting for book number 5!!

I recommend this series to readers who enjoy that little pain that comes with reading dark paranormal romance and very grey characters. You will definitely find what you’re looking for with those books!!!

Thank you BookSirens and Darcy Fayton for this ARC💕

These books honestly break my fucking heart. Just when I think something good might come or these characters might catch a break they don't. Everything just sucks and it's gonna suck for a while longer.

But at least they have each other.

Honestly should've seen this one coming. He had to do something terrible, because why wouldn't he right? Why wouldn't he?

I did already know there were more books in the series though, so I was not expecting things to end with this book, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Doesn't mean I have to be happy about these change of events.

I'm pissed off at this fact, but also I want to spend more time with these two as they help each other through all this trauma. And also finding out about this power that he has just makes everything sweeter, but at the same time worse because they really are going through everything together, as together as they possibly can.

It just… I wish people weren't fuckin assholes, but that's never going to happen which is why it's in a fuckin book.

Book four feels more exposed than anything before it.

There’s a level of vulnerability here that changes how everything just hits us. The memory connection brings the past and present together in a way that makes Kathryn and Sebastian’s relationship feel a lot more deep... like damnnn.

You’re not just seeing what’s happening now. You’re seeing what it meant before, what she forgot, and what it still means underneath everything.

That makes their connection feel heavier. More intentional. More difficult to ignore.

At the same time, this book doesn’t stay in that space.

Tiberion shifts the tone into something far more controlled and unsettling. Nothing about it is chaotic. It’s precise, and that precision is what makes it hit the way it does.

The contrast between those two dynamics carries the entire book.

It’s uncomfortable in a way that feels very deliberate, and it lingers. I'm so ready for what is to come.

I actually never thought I would be so involved in these novellas. Though here we are.
This one, when still in the darker sense, is probably by far the most tamed of the novellas so far. When Sebastian's father was involved-- I thought that it would end up much darker than it actually was.
I feel this story focuses more on the past between Sebastian and Kathryn, and I liked that better than just the 'punishment' aspect of the twelve nights of Christmas.
I had a feeling Tibereon was going to pull something. There was no way this series could continue for all twelve nights with such a concept being involved. I just found the how of the matter to be interesting.
I'm interested in knowing more about Sebastian's past friendships and am excited for the next installment to see this friend and this apparent curse.

✨⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review – His Father’s Sin by Darcy Fayton ✨

Darcy Fayton really said “here’s your trauma, tension, and spice” and I happily devoured every second of it. His Father’s Sin was packed with emotional conflict, forbidden tension, and enough chemistry to completely ruin my sleep schedule. 🌶️🔥

This book leaned heavily into the darker emotional side of romance, and honestly, that’s what made it so addictive. The main characters were flawed, stubborn, and carrying so much baggage that every interaction felt charged. The tension built beautifully, and when things finally snapped into place? Absolutely worth the wait.

The spice in this one was hotter and more emotionally intense than I expected, balanced perfectly with moments of vulnerability and heartbreak. Fayton does such a good job making the intimate scenes feel meaningful instead of just thrown in for shock value.

His Father’s Sins, book four. After a bloody end to the last night, Kathryn and Sebastian cling to the hope that they can begin to rebuild what was once lost, spending one day together where she forces Sebastian to feed from her. Returning to the manor, they find Sebastian’s father Tiberion, who offers to pay off the remaining debt for one night with Kathryn. Thinking he might be the end of this contract, Kathryn reluctantly agrees. What starts off as a simple night quickly turns dark when secrets begin to spill and Kathryn finally learns the truth of that night on her eighteenth birthday when Sebastian first took what was never his to take. From there, Tiberion’s betrayal becomes darker when he forces her into something they had forbidden from happening, only to change his mind on the payment, reverting back to the original twelve percent, forcing Kathryn to continue paying off the rest of the debt by taking on yet another patron.

Argh!! I was in full swoon mode as Kathryn and Sebastian became closer, reforged their bond, and tried to awaken their memories from before. And then Tiberion returned to rip everything apart… when will these star-crossed lovers catch a break? How will they move forward with so much trauma tainting their connection? Darcy Fayton I am in agony, and I have it on good authority (yours, obviously) that my agony will continue with the next book!

This is a traumatic love story with strong leads who never stop looking for hope… also it is spicy… some of that spice is hot steamy consensual stuff between Kathryn and Sebastian, but if you’ve read the blurb you should already know that there is also a theme of non consensual force throughout the series, so please read mindfully.

His Father’s Sin (Part 4 of 12)
By Darcy Fayton

It goes to show how much evil exits in the world. To think that the person that should be protecting you is the person to take advantage, be deceitful, and an all around ass. Strength and love comes from within to push you through and hold you up, when it feels like everything else is falling around you.

This 12 part series, shows how the FMC can live through torture and still feel love for another. To be able to live through the degradation inflicted on her by others, yet be hopeful of a future with the MMC. To see their love and trust becoming stronger with each passing day is unbelievable considering what they are living through.

The endless plot twists, keep you guessing what will happen next.

Happy Reading!

✨️This is book 4 of 12. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.✨️

Book 4 continues where book 3 ended, you should read the other books first.

Have I mentioned yet that I love Darcy's writing? The pace she sets keeps me coming back for more.

So where 3 ended on a bloody note, Kathryn and Sebastian explore their past much further. It' s giving almost a cozy Christmassy vibe.

That all turns cold quickly when Tiberion arrives, after uncovering a darker truth about her 18th birthday and crossing a terrible line, he leaves them searching yet for another patron.
I knew it couldn't be that easy to end this bargain, but I was shook by the betrayal.

"His Father's Sin" the fourth in "The Twelve Nights of Christmas" series is possibly the most confronting and emotionally savage of Kathryn's nights with her patrons. Please do not think you could simply pick this up and read it as it is necessary reading to have started at the beginning to understand the overall plot of this series. This to date is the most taboo of the evenings for Kathryn to endure and it in some ways broke my heart to witness her emotional resiliency take such a battering but it also becomes a driving force for her to take control over her demise and future, and hopefully to strengthen her relationship with Sebastian.

Arc review

Pitch black romantsy this one! Beyond dark, His Father's Sin in the 4th book in the series, and I am now definitely invested in Kathryn and Sebastian 's story.
Sebastian 's father is absolutely despicable and I really hope ge goes down like the Duke! Terrible vampires these guys!
The silver lining in this book, is the change of dynamics between Kathryn and Sebastian, but also between Sebastian and the butler, I do believe it will count on the long run.
I enjoyed reading this book, is fast paced, intense and full of action, and the story progresses rather in an interesting way.
Can't wait to read the next book of the series!

I have received this book as ARC from Booksirens and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you, Darcy Fayton!

Only 3.5stars for book 4! I started to get warm and fuzzy for Sebastian and Kathryn as they shared a special moment and were beginning to trust and share the guilt and grief between them instead of fighting it. Then came Tiberions offer, I screamed at my iPad that it was “too good to be true”! I screamed at them “make sure you get 50% before agreeing”….but alas he conned them and crushed them both when they should have been celebrating freedom. Now the trust has gone, Kathryn still has no memory of her earlier years with Sebastian and I feel like we are back to square 1 again. This book was too predictable for me and didn’t have the suspense and drive the first three carried. Still really enjoying the series tho and can’t wait to see where the next 8 Nights of Christmas take me!!

I must admit I got quite emotional with this story. It;s a bit of a rollercoaster ride and brutal at times. Sebastian and Kathryn are drawing closer but life can be cruel.

Please do heed the trigger warnings as the content will not be for everyone.

Fourth in a series of 12 novellas “The 12 Nights of Christmas”. The back story is unfolding although quite slowly and I am impatient to know more. Can’t wait for the next installment. There are 4 full length novels that create the world in which these novellas are set. I have read them all and if you enjoy this series you will enjoy them.

The Twelve Nights of Christmas series is emotional hit after emotional hit! Book #4 was no exception, in this book Kathryn & Sebastian grow closer, further apart and closer again after they experience another major betrayal. This book is just as dark as the other in the series, so please check the CWs before reading! Every book shatters me more and keeps me hooked. The scenes in the cabin had me in a chokehold, and I felt so deeply for Kathryn. Mr Kenneth continues to be my favourite side character as always. I'm beyond invested in where this story is going and the logistics of what the end might actually look like for Kathryn & Sebastian.

His Father’s Sin is an emotional roller coaster and my favorite installment in the Twelve Nights of Christmas series so far. Just when I thought I knew where the story was headed, Darcy Fayton delivered a twist that left me completely speechless. I was mad, heartbroken, and honestly wanted revenge right alongside the characters.

The way Sebastian’s father manipulated and deceived everyone was infuriating, making him an unforgettable villain. Every chapter pulled me in deeper, and I couldn’t stop turning the pages. This series just keeps getting darker, more intense, and more addictive. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
