the reason this book didn't hit higher for me is because while I found some humor in a few things that happened it took until between 60-70% when the shit hit the fan hardcore to really suck me in and even then some of the parts were kind of like "what?". His writing style was easy to read and flowed nicely though.

Although Willow River by Lucas Pops wasn’t my first horror novel, it was still out of my comfort zone, but I loved reading it. It took me only two days to fly through the pages. For a snail reader like me, that’s like reading at lightning speed.
The story is about a group of friends who have just lost one of their own. For old times’ sake, and for a chance to mourn together, they decide to spend a weekend at The House. During the weekend, a lot of intrigues unfold, but no one knows what’s about to come, and believe me, it will leave you flabbergasted.
The story is marked as a horror novel, but it doesn’t start out that way. Lucas Pops is able to portray the group of grieving friends and their interdimensional relationships very clearly, full of emotion and depth. As a reader, you get a good view of each character and how messed up everyone is, each in their own way. There’s a lot of tension building throughout the story, which festers until the moment everything blows up. What happens after will leave your jaw on the floor.
Lucas Pops has a clear, easy-to-follow writing style, which allows you to dive into the story and keeps you hooked until the end. I really enjoyed the book and am already planning to read another book written by him.
