It felt so good to be back in Paranthea. 😍✨ I really missed this world, and I was dying to get back into it!💯🙌🏻 I recently finished reading The Crying Dreams so let's talk about it. 💙
This is the second book in the YA fantasy series. I read the first one last year and absolutely loved it, so my expectations were pretty high going into this one. This time, though, I have mixed feelings🙌🏻
The writing style is simple and easy to read, and I love how easy it is to imagine every scene. The world of Paranthea is still one of my favorite parts of this series💯 🌿✨ And can we talk about the characters?🔥🤌🏻 Because they are the reason I keep coming back to this series. 🥰❤️ Hari, Sivi, Rasri, and Eshaan have my whole heart❤️I🔥 was rooting for them the entire time, and Hari is my pookie. 🫶🤭I was rooting for him the whole time 😆 I'm also really curious about Latasa and Valam's story too I can't wait to know more about their story, and I really hope we get to see more of them in the next book. 🤍✨
But the first half honestly didn't work that well for me. It felt a little slow, and I kept waiting for the story to really begin. I also felt like something was missing. At a few places, it felt more like the story was telling me things instead of making me experience them. I really wish we had a little more world-building and character development because this world has so much potential. 💯 But the second half was so, soo much better. 🙌🏻💯🔥 Oh God, I loved the second half of this book so much 🔥Once the story picked up, I was completely hooked. I didn't want to put the book down. And that ending... it was gut-wrenching, and the cliffhanger was so good. 😭 Now I just need the next book right now 🥹
Personally, I loved the first book more than the second one. But I'm 100% continuing this series because I love this world and these characters so much. I'm way too attached to them to stop now, and I seriously need to know what happens next. 🥹❤️ So yes... I'm definitely picking up the next book🙌🏻 ✨
Okay, so this book was everything that I needed. It had perfect mix of mystery and magic, and oh my God, every single thing in the book was perfect. The story started where it ended in the last book and it was everything and more than I expected.
There was a disease spreading so fast in Paranthea that started with Rasri and it was about nightmares that come when you sleep and there were Demons who come out of the nightmare and kill the people watching the dream and to stop this disease, the only way was either to kill Rasri or to find silver to know how to end the disease, but no one was ready to give up on Rasri so they had to find silver. Meanwhile, there were movamas also in the paranthea because they found the source of energy, they needed to survive and it was the Demonsand the nightmares, so Eeshaan, Rasri and Sivi all decided to shake hands with movamas that they will not harm anyone in Paranthea and in return hey can feed on the energy that was coming from the nightmares That gives them time to find the silver and end the whole disease. Also, there was Valam who was finding someone important to him and who that person is you gonna find when you read the book and it was so unexpected.
The love story of Eeshan and Rasri was making my heart flutter. It was so sweet and so pure I was rooting for them, also Hari loves Sivi but isn't able to express and I really wish he does in the third book and they also get their happy ending 🩷
Also towards the end of the book, there is again a cliffhanger and again a death of my one of the favourite characters and I'm so upset about it like why this happened again like in the previous book, but somehow I believe that author is going to come up with some twist and some magic again, and in the third book, it will all be fine and very happy ending that I expect, and dear author if you sre reading my review, I really really Request you to come with a very good ending because if not, then it will really break my heart
Overall, this book and the previous book both were 5 ⭐️ and trust me if you love magic, intense plot, a different kind of world, story that is very unexpected and very shocking so please go and read this book and the previous book that is The infected wishes. Trust me you will also say that both the books are 5 ⭐️
I don’t think The Crying Dreams is the kind of book you just “read” and move on from. It sits with you.
What struck me the most was how deeply personal the story feels. Yes, it has fantasy elements, but at its core, it’s about internal battles. The kind we don’t talk about openly. The kind that show up in silence.
Eshaan’s struggle with guilt and self-worth feels painfully real. His darkness isn’t dramatic for the sake of the plot; it feels lived-in.
The world-building is immersive without being overwhelming. The atmosphere feels heavy, almost dreamlike, like you’re constantly walking through mist where something is watching.
This isn’t light fantasy. It’s introspective, layered, and at times emotionally intense. But that’s what makes it powerful.
If you enjoy stories where magic mirrors mental and emotional turmoil, where healing feels hard-earned, this series is definitely worth diving into.
It’s haunting in a quiet way. And those are the stories that stay the longest.
A nightmare disease that turns sleep into a death sentence? Count me in. The second book in this fantasy series takes everything that worked in The Infected Wishes and raises the stakes. Fast-paced, immersive, and impossible to put down, this book blends fantasy, mystery, thrill, and romance so seamlessly that there's never a dull moment. The world-building feels vast yet easy to sink into, the plot constantly keeps you guessing, and beneath all the action lies an emotional depth that hits harder than expected. One moment you're unraveling secrets, the next you're holding your breath through terrifying nightmare sequences, and then suddenly your heart is aching for these characters. It's dark, gripping, emotional, and endlessly addictive. If you love fantasy with high stakes, haunting mysteries, swoon-worthy romance, and a story that keeps you turning pages long past bedtime, this series deserves a spot on your TBR.
Wow!! What a read it was. I am still processing what I have read. After ' The Infected Wish ' this is second part and it has left me stunned. Previous book was amazing but this is more intense and packed with dark fantasy with mystery. I always love reading Eshan & Rasri and that's why sighed up for this part. And I am totally impressed by this book.
As I mentioned before I am not a big fan of fantasy, supernatural stories but author Amitesh is making me fall for this genre with his writing. I really loving this fantasy genre now. This book has captured fantasy elements to the core. The blend of fantasy and mystery with thrill is beautiful. This book has a proper rhytm and honestly didn't feel bore. Each page carries deep mystery than other.
V. S. Amitesh returns readers to the emotionally shadowed world first introduced in The Infected Wishes, and the sequel quickly establishes a darker, more introspective tone. The narrative leans heavily into atmosphere, creating a sense of unease that begins to build from the early chapters.
What stands out most at this stage is the author’s focus on emotional weight and internal conflict. The writing remains accessible while maintaining a somber mood that fans of the first book will likely recognize and appreciate. The worldbuilding continues to expand gradually, hinting at deeper developments ahead.
I did not expect this book to be this much emotional.. Eshaan’s internal battle hit the hardest for me. He honestly broke my heart. The way he carries so much guilt and self-hatred, like he thinks he deserves pain And Hari trying to reach him, especially in his worst moments? That got me. The world-building is amazing with a mix of emotional weight with each. From the eerie stillness of the Silver to the quiet weight of the Parantheans, everything feels like a reflection of the character’s inner storms.
