Small diamonds encrust the platinum prongs, designed to look like vines crawling up the sides, that hold the crystal-like ten-karat emerald. Larger diamonds radiate like flower petals around the center stone, three karats worth.

Xan Valentine had worked with the jeweler for months to create the perfect engagement ring.

But something’s wrong.

He knows that something is wrong.

It’s almost like he can’t touch Natasha, can’t feel her, like she’s always half-turned away from him, like her heart belongs to someone else.

Or something else.

Xan is going to propose anyway.

This book is a short story and is about 40 pages long. The short story is a separate, time-honored literary form and should not be confused with a novel. A novel is an expansive work that seeks to encompass the whole of what it means to be human. A short story elucidates a moment in time or a pivotal moment in the life of a character. I hope you enjoy this short story.

Blair Babylon is the nom de plume of an award-winning, USA Today-bestselling author who used to publish literary fiction. Because professional reviews of her other fiction usually included the caveat that there was too much deviant sex and too much interesting plot, she decided to abandon all literary pretensions, let her freak flag fly, and write hot, sexy, erotic romance.

Xan Valentine - as he has styled himself for the last 5 years is the lead of his band Killer Valentine. Xan is getting ready to propose to his American girlfriend Natasha, who is a member of the LA Philharmonic. They went through Juilliard together, he is a classically trained Violinist in addition to his Rock Star status. When things don’t go as planned. This is a good, fast introduction to Xan and his world of music.

A sneak peek at how Alexandre became Xan

This book is a must read if you have read Georgie’s story’s with Alexandre/Xan/Alex. It is the prequel into how their story sort of began and why Alexandre became a rock star. The nuggets of information that Blair leaves in the book will help you understand his story a little better.

eview of Alwaysland - Prequel to Rock Stars In Disguise: Xan - Another GREAT series from Blair is on the way, 5++ stars

Blair is giving us another series to sink our teeth into. This book is a prequel to Xan's story, which takes us back to 2 years ago, when he was in love with Natasha. I first met Xan almost two months ago in What A Girl Wants, Rock Stars in Disguise: Rhinnon. In that book, we can tell that Xan has had heartbreak somewhere along the way, but it didn't really go into his story at that time. Now, we will get to find out what happened and then comes the rest of his story.

Xan is the frontman for an emerging rock band called Killer Valentine, but this book basically gives us his background - where he went to school, how he lived in an RV while traveling with the band, etc. There are hints that he is hiding things about his true identity and I am so looking forward to getting more of my questions answered. I can't tell you much more than this, as I don't want to give spoilers for the rest of Xan's story coming up. By the way, Alwaysland is the song that they end almost every show with. Just know that you don't want to miss out on this new series. I absoultely love Blair's writing.

This is a pretty short story and doesn’t really have a cliffhanger but you probably will be left with the feeling that you’d like to find out more about Xan’s story after this one ends. You will be able to read more about Xan in Billionaires in Disguise: Georgie/Rock Stars in Disguise: Xan (a great book, too!).

Xan is the frontman for the band Killer Valentine. The band was introduced in the stand-alone story What A Girl Wants but you don’t need to have read that story to enjoy this one.

Short stories should not be judged by the same standards as a novel or even a novella.

For such a short story Blair Babylon really included a lot of stuff: love, steamy scenes, and heartache. This was definitely a great introduction to the Rock Stars in Disguise world.

An ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

For a prequel, this was insightful and sets up the character of Xan well.
Xan seems very laid back, but I guess his career is in its infancy so he'snot jaded by the spotlight.
Cool that he plays guitar and violin. Who doesn't love a Brit who can shred an ax?
He seems to give up a lot of his wants for Natasha does she appreciate it?
Holy crap! Sex while she plays the cello is highly erotic. If I had any musical talent, I'd try it.
Their parting was sorrowful, hoping for more for him. Natasha came across very cerebral, not as into him as he is her.

I LOVED this short novella, 45 pages, a most excellent intro to the series, which I have read most of.... I'm a relatively new fan of Blair Babylon, but I don't plan to leave any time soon ;-)

I read this story as part of the Dream On book. I don't know why I'd put off reading this Xan prequel, loyalty to Georgie perhaps?!

It's a fab short story. It's gives a great insight into Xan before we meet him in Tryps book!! Alwaysland was their breakout single which is based on this books story, that's enough recommendation right there. Lol
