By day, I'm a caffeine-fueled writer in my forties who believes cake is a food group and animals make the best coworkers (they judge silently). I grew up surrounded by books and secretly hoping the dog was a werewolf. Now I spend my time weaving supernatural tales filled with mystery, mischief, and the occasional ghost with attitude. When I’m not writing, you’ll find me walking my rescue dog, reading. A lot!, binge-watching fiction, or baking cupcakes I fully intend to share… but don’t.

Shadow Bound is a fast-paced, addictive fantasy romance that pulls you into a dark, supernatural world where danger, loyalty, and desire collide. If you love stories packed with tension, magic, and complicated relationships, this one delivers.

At the heart of the story is a fierce, no-nonsense female lead who refuses to be defined by the chaos around her. She’s strong, sharp, and unapologetically powerful—exactly the kind of protagonist you want when the world is filled with fae politics, werewolf loyalty, and vampire intrigue. Watching her navigate not just survival but control over her own fate is one of the book’s biggest strengths.

The standout element is the three-way love triangle, which adds layers of emotional conflict without feeling forced. Each love interest brings something completely different: intensity, mystery, and raw loyalty. Instead of a predictable romance, the relationships feel messy, high-stakes, and deeply intertwined with the plot. You’re constantly questioning who to trust—and who she should choose.

The supernatural world-building is immersive, blending fae elegance, werewolf hierarchy, and vampire darkness into a gritty, dangerous setting. There’s a good balance between action and romance, with enough twists to keep you hooked and turning pages.

That said, at times the pacing can feel a bit rushed, especially when major emotional or plot shifts happen quickly. A little more depth in certain scenes would have made the story even stronger.

Overall, Shadow Bound is a bold, entertaining read with a badass heroine, intense romantic tension, and a richly layered supernatural world. Perfect for fans of dark fantasy romance who enjoy strong female leads and love triangles that actually keep you guessing.

The cover caught my attention first, but the story completely delivered and then some.

This book brings together such a fun and intense mix of paranormal elements. A rogue wolf heroine, a succubus best friend, and not one but multiple fated mates including a vampire, a wolf, and a fae assassin. The dynamic between these characters kept things exciting and layered.

Lena is far from ordinary, and that makes her a target. The tension throughout the story adds real stakes, and it’s not just romance and attraction. There’s danger, conflict, and moments where everything feels like it could fall apart.

What really stood out to me was how her mates come together to protect her. She’s strong and capable on her own, but seeing them step up for her in their own ways added an extra level of intensity and connection that made those moments unforgettable.

Overall, this was an engaging, fast-paced read with great character dynamics and a balance of action and romance. I definitely recommend picking this one up if you enjoy paranormal romance with strong heroines and protective, powerful mates.

Shadow Bound was hard for me. The premise of the book promised so much of what I love in a paranormal romance book. I loved the feel of the impending war between different supernatural factions; wolves, vampires, fae and demons. The book was packed full of action and grit. I enjoyed the world and getting to experience the city. There is no real slowly easing you into story, the action is almost immediate.

The paranormal part this book hits 100% of what was promised. The romance part, for me, is a miss. It doesn't have to be slow burn, being wooed and full of yearning and stolen glances. But it almost feels forced, and logistically impossible (which is weird when you think it's a paranormal romantasy). When I say forced, I mean there is no build up just fighting and then BAM sex. For Example: In one scene our FMC is taken to the skies by a fae assassin (that she doesn't realize is attempting to save her). They are struggling/fighting midair, she goes as far as stabbing him in the ribs with a dagger. Struggle some more and then what do you know, it's time to join the mile high club (while her other 2 male suitors are below). Scenes like that broke the immersion for me.

The parts of the book between the sex I loved. The banter, the friendship between Rogue Wolf Lena, Succubus Aurielle and Vampire Cassian. The quips between Lena, Cassian and Alpha Wolf Killian. The characters on their own, I enjoy. The sexual tension to me, does not make sense, and feel like puzzle pieces being crammed together. My other main issue does come from some stylistic writing choices. Conversations are written as paragraphs. With multiple characters dialogue coming directly after the other, only separated by quotation marks, instead of being written as a different line. Ex: "Lena blinked again. "Like...capital D?" "Yes" "Fallen archangel. Bringer of light. That one." "The very same."" This choice did make following conversations difficult.

Part of me wants to rate the book lower (maybe 2-2.5 stars), but that wouldn't be an accurate representation of how I feel. Lenena is fantastic at writing what I would describe as a paranormal Sin City. it would be unfair of me to rate it lower due to the spicy scenes, because as ridiculous as I found those, the book fulfills its promise of morally grey characters, enemies to lovers, court/faction conflict, fated mates, reverse hareem and paranormal species representation.

This was such a good read - absolutely loved every second of it - every twist and turn, the drama, the tension, the characters, the plot, all of it. Lena is fantastic, and I ABSOLUTELY loved Aurielle - she had some VERY fun revelations and moments for sure - Cassian is a fantastic mix of powerful, mysterious, loyal, steady, and strategy - LOVE that he has Lena's back like he does. Killion is a fun stubborn wolf-shifter, but he finally figures his mess out and learns to understand Lena and absolutely is fantastic for that eventual understanding and all. Serathiel is just a mysterious dark Fae assassin but definitely becomes a fun addition to Lena's found family and the tangled complex web of connections she somehow finds herself the nexus and center of, and it's soooo fun reading and diving into watching them figure out each other, her, how to interact each other, how to be there for her but not impose upon her - the book is a FANTASTIC tale with some of the best kinds of the supernatural with Fae scheming, Alpha stubborn dominance and refusal to back down, ancient Vampiric patience and strategy, even Daemonic shows of power and care and more :D - VERY much hope we get to see more of what comes after the conclusion of the book and the connected characters and their city. Absolutely fantastic read :D

Couple of my favorite quotes:

"You always need commentary," Aurielle corrected pleasantly. "It's what gives life flavour."

-and-

""No one is using the world delicious in reference to my life."
Aurielle placed a hand over her heart in mock offense. "Your life is a dark romantic epic unfolding in real-time. You have an alpha world willing to start a war for you, a vampire tactician who would rearrange governments at your request, and a Fae assassin rethinking centuries of allegiance because you clawed his face."

6/5 stars for sure - this was an AMAZING read!.

I found this one difficult to read, I kept losing interest in the story, and forgetting what had happened. The writing style doesn’t help, particularly when it comes to the strange layout during conversations where it’s difficult to follow who is saying what.

I didn’t think there was any real chemistry between the characters. I found it difficult to relate or connect with them too. There’s a lot of tension between the characters but very little connection. Their conversations were almost robotic in nature, and the only person I felt any real emotion from was Aurielle after Lena was mortally wounded.

Overall, it does seem like a good premise for a story: a city full of supernaturals, where the exiled and forgotten Fae want to cause disruption and war so they can rise back into power. But a rogue wolf who they marked as an asset stands against them, with an Alpha she wants to resit but can’t. Lena starts out as a rogue wolf who has no allegiance but ends up bringing 4 different factions of a city together through 3 mate bonds and a friendship. She becomes their reason to save the city…or burn it to the ground if necessary.

I find that points are very repetitive throughout the book, with gaps in the story. Not to mention the characters seem to understand what’s going on, but don’t reveal it to the reader which is very confusing.

There’s a lack of realism in the steamy scenes too…and yes, I know it’s paranormal fantasy so not meant to be realistic, but it’s hard to believe sex on a motorcycle or in the air wouldn’t end in disaster…balance and gravity do still exist.

I still don’t understand the story fully, but the last few chapters added excitement and danger, but still seemed to lack any connection between the characters.

I read Shadow Bound as an e-ARC and devoured it in two days. The FMC, Lena is fierce, feisty, and a fighter. She's a rogue wolf who doesn't trust easily based on her past, so when she crosses paths with Killian, the alpha wolf trying to consolidate the wolf packs for the first time in their history. The fae are converging and manipulating, using Lena as a catalyst in their deviant plans. Lena wants nothing to do with the wolves or the fae. She's already involved with Cassian, her centuries old vampire lover, so when her attraction to Killian unnerves her, it adds chaos to the mix of their uneasy truce to work together. The spice level is 5 stars. There's some impressing, dare defying scenes between Lena and the males in this book. You'll have to read them to find out who they happen with. I won't give away who the third male is, you'll have to read to find out. This is a reverse-harem with spice, banter, sexual tension, and action. There's court machination and intrigue, magic, heartache, and laughter; a best friend succubus who makes the banter and tension even better. If it was a movie, I'd equate it to a spicier Underworld meets an action packed Mr. & Mrs. Smith chemistry, with Throne of Glass elements.

This is a standalone dark fantasy romance featuring:
Reverse harem / why choose romance
Fated mates with a twist
Alpha wolf hero
Morally grey fae assassin
Ancient vampire lover
Political fantasy intrigue
High-stakes court drama
Protective possessive heroes
Explicit, emotional spice
Battle scenes and violent fae court conflict

City of Blackmorre is full of wolf shifters, ancient vampires, and scheming Fae. This is a story about fated mates, destiny, and also something dark and all of it intricately woven into a web of politics.

Alpha Killian - the first among the wolves to seek the unification of all the city's separate packs. He is a strict, powerful, and possessive Alpha who poses a major threat to the Fae.
The Vampire Cassian - older than some cities, he is a cold and calculating thinker who has learned over centuries to observe everything before acting. He is completely devoted to Lena.
Serathiel - a Fae assassin who watches silently from the shadows, striking lethally and fast. He is fascinated by Lena and her inner strength.
At the center of it all is the rogue Lena who refuses to bow to anyone and belongs only to herself.

The story is packed with strong personalities full of self-confidence, power, and stubbornness. What I appreciated most is how the author portrayed them: these traits felt like natural character layers rather than annoying personalities that make you roll your eyes. It was all very well - executed and believable within this dark world.

This is a reverse harem book, which is important to know if you aren't open to that dynamic. The passion between the characters was burning bright, I’d even say in the most "inconvenient" or unexpected places. Although, personally, I expected a bit more spice.

Thank you, Lenena Ronheer & Purple Unicorn Books!

This one pulled me in so fast. It’s dark, a little gritty, and honestly hard to put down. The banter was so good, and that bike and sky scene… Yeah, I’m not over it. The spice fit really naturally into the story, too, which I loved.

Lena was everything I wanted: strong, stubborn, and not letting anyone control her. Killian was a little too serious for me, but I loved that he fell first and didn’t even hesitate. Cassian, though… yeah, he’s mine now. No discussion. And Serathiel has me curious.

Aurielle surprised me in the best way; that twist was so good and made me love her even more.

The love triangle actually kept me guessing, which doesn’t always happen, but a few parts felt a little rushed.

Overall, I really enjoyed this. It’s a fun, dark fantasy romance with great characters and just enough chaos to keep you hooked. I’ll definitely be reading the next one.

Shadow Bound by Lenena Ronheer dives straight into a dark, chaotic supernatural world where power, politics, and desire collide. Lena is exactly the kind of heroine I love reading about—fierce, stubborn, and completely unwilling to let anyone control her. Watching her navigate the dangerous pull between wolves, fae, and vampires kept the tension high the entire time. The court intrigue and shifting loyalties added another layer of intensity, making the world feel gritty, seductive, and unpredictable. Every character brought a different kind of energy to the story, and the morally grey dynamics made it impossible to fully trust anyone.

The romance is bold, messy, and unapologetically spicy, but it never felt out of place within the darker tone of the story. The chemistry between Lena and her multiple love interests creates constant tension, especially with the enemies-to-lovers elements and possessive alpha energy woven throughout. At times the pacing moved quickly, but the drama, banter, and high-stakes conflict kept me hooked from beginning to end. If you enjoy dark romantasy packed with dangerous attraction, supernatural politics, and a powerful heroine who refuses to back down, this one delivers a deliciously chaotic ride.

I am a very thankful ARC reviewer
Think Sin City meets paranormal creatures, and you get a feeling of what this story is about.
This is definitely fast paced, sometimes too fast paced, and I would have liked some further in depth character development or power structure clarification. Still, you are immediately drawn to this awesome quintet of characters: there's a lot of raw potential for all of them. Serathiel is clearly my favourite one.

There are a few details that don't add up. In the motorcycle scene, both of them are wearing helmets, but we still read about breaths in ears... lovely scene though!
And finally, the need for further writing review. Because throughout the book the shirt sentence structure is about what it is not and then what it is. It works perfectly when used parcimonously. In SB, perhaps it was too much.

3/5, a nice reading!

I’ve not read this author before and I will admit it took a couple of chapters to get used to their style of writing. Mainly the brilliant back and forth between the various characters (I couldn’t get who was replying who at first).
But once I did omg was this a good read!
The twists were there, the intrigue, the banter, the chemistry, the denial, the confusion oh I could go on but just let’s say definitely give this book a read.
I will admit my emotions were all over the place especially from the middle to end of this book. Thank you to the author for the brilliant HEA.
Overall loved this book favourite character for me got to be Cassian loved his unconditional love for Lena. Killian and Serathiel took some warming to especially Killian. And Lena’s bestie wow plot twist is all I’m going to say!! Was not expecting that. Get it , read it, enjoy! I certainly did.

This book was great! I seriously can't wait to get my hands on the rest of this series. The spiciness was well inputted into the world building and I loved all the characters.
The darkness with this story, the bike and sky scene, the banter, it all just kept me so captive in this story
I couldn't get enough of Lena. Her desire to not be controlled was PERFECT! And her mouth....exquisite.
Killian is too serious for me. But I love how he falls first and how he IMMEDIATELY bowed to her, no questions asked. He's a strong jerk tho lol
I adore Cassian. That vampire is my new book boyfriend. Lena will have to fight me lol
Serathiel is such a mystery. I can't wait to get to know him more. I'm just glad he chose right!
And Aurielle....I want a best friend like her. Her twist in this story was absolutely PERFECT! she's becoming my favorite

When I read the reader warning at the start of this book - this book is not for the feint hearted- I knew it was going to be good and it certainly didn’t disappoint!

I loved where this book takes you - you get swept up in Lena’s world full of wolves, vampires and fae. She is definitely a stubborn independent FMC and I did want to shake some sense into her a few times but she is a rogue wolf who has spent her life looking out for number one so ….

The story is full of intrigue, action, building trust and working together to bring about a united city. The sexy scenes were very good especially the sky scene and the ‘all together scene’ at the end (iykyk 😉) and I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between them all. Have to give a big shout out to Aurielle though - she was an amazing BFF b@dass and really added to the story.
Overall it was a real pleasure to read 💜

This is my first read from this author and I must say I'm impressed. This book was great, it had me hooked and I read it in one day as I couldn't put it down. The story line was excellent, I loved the character and world building and the spice damn it was good, That Sky Scene and don't get me started on the bike, you should read it for these two scenes alone.

Our FMC Lena is strong, independent and makes our MMC kneel for, need I say more.
Cassian is great she was his first and will burn everything down for her
Killian is attracted to her, he wants her but doesn't trust her and she doesn't trust him.
Serathiel joins our trio last his more of a mystery

I cant wait to read more.

I was hooked from the very first page right up until the end.

What truly blew me away was how incredibly real and relatable your characters felt. I found myself so invested in their individual journeys and the dynamics between them – you really nailed it! And the world-building? Mind-blowing! The way you crafted those distinct territories and wove in such complex societal issues made it all feel so wonderfully rich and immersive. Not to mention the emotional and romantic tension; it kept me utterly gripped and turning pages with palpable excitement. The way everything wrapped up was incredibly satisfying, leaving a lasting impression that I won't forget anytime soon.

Honestly, it was such a pleasure to get lost in your story, and I'm already buzzing with anticipation for whatever you come out with next!

This was a book that pulled you in from the beginning. You have Lena a rogue wolf who is a badass in all ways. Killian the Alpha , Cassian the Vampire leader, Auraielle the local daemon succubus or is she more and Serathiel the Fae Assassin. The spice is good not over achieving , Lenena seems to be more about the story then the spice level, which in my opinion is great in this type of book. Lena ends up collecting powerful men the way most women collect books. She is blood bound to Cassian, Fate Bound to Killian and something older then time to Serathiel. They all have to maneuver the burgeoning relationships to stand up to the Fae Court and the deceitfulness taking place within. Lena needs to figure a way to keep her independence and help with the Wolves . I would love to see more of this world in the future. Great Romantsy with parts of magical worlds within it.

Lena is a rogue wolf. But then she locks eyes with an Alpha at the bar- Killian. Killian is intrigued by Lena. He wants to know why she’s finally stepped foot in his territory. Lena has a job to do. But this one is a little too neat. It makes her a little weary. And she was right as she walked into some sort of trap that Killian also notices. They decide to kind of work together to figure out whose trying to set her up. Then Cassian her “arrangement” vampire also steps in to help her. However, Lena doesn’t love letting people help her. She starts to realize the Fae are setting everything up. And she’s very much a wants no strings person. But Cassian, Killian, and then Serathiel slowly break her walls down. This had some nice action thrown in which I liked. Very fast paced which was also nice. I liked the spice but honestly was expecting a tiny bit more.

Thank you Lena Roneer & the Purple Unicorn for the opportunity to ARC read Shado Bound.

I fully enjoyed the story & the plot. A badass rogue wolf Lena is the FMC and is blood bound to Cassian, the leader & king of the vampire's making Lena his queen.who is a badass in all ways. Then comes Killian, the Alpha wolf that seems to be Lena's destined mate. And we haven't even spoken about Serathiel the Fae Assassin, who also seems to be tied to Lena as well. Making this a great why choose a story. Then there is Lena's best friend Auraielle the local demon succubus, "or is she more than that", you will have to read the book to find out. The banter is great & the spice is definitely spicy ( even though I wish it would have had a better lead in in a few places as it felt a bit rushed in spots.) Overall this is a great read with action, banter, and political issues all thrown in.

Where Politics and Magic Collide

From the first twists of political maneuvering to the rich supernatural world, this story took me on a roller coaster of intense emotions. It took me a little while to settle into the story, but once it grabbed hold of me, I couldn’t put it down.

The political finagling added a layer of intrigue that kept me hooked, and the variety of supernatural species made the world feel vibrant and complex. Every character brought something unique, and I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite because I enjoyed them all.

I’m already looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Absolute chaos but beautiful

CHAOS...

Lena is pure chaos wrapped up in feminine power and wont let the men around her dictate her life, even if she is mated to them....yes them.

Lena finds herself drawn to an Alpha, an elite Assassin and a deadly Vampire. But she is not a wilting flower, she is powerful on her own and demands equal footing. Her men have a odd power dynamic that works for them. They are drawn to her and will push aside their differences to keep her safe while giving her what she needs.

Shadow Bound gives us all the tropes...
Enemies to lovers CHECK
Fae, Vampire, Alpha Wolves... CHECK
Morally Grey men who would tear down worlds for you..Check check and CHECK.

Just grab this book, you wont regret it.

I received this as an arc from the author. This story has wolf shifters, vampires, fae and demons. It’s political intrigue, assassins, fated mates, why choose. The overall story was good, but it didn’t feel like we got to know any of the characters in depth. I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if I had felt more connected to the characters and their stories.

I struggled quite a bit with the writing style aswell, it was hard to follow the conversations and knowing who was saying what. There’s also quite alot of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors that just ended up taking me out of the story several times which is a shame.

I was given this book as an advanced reader copy. Would I have picked this book up to read? Probably not, but I am not one who likes multiple things in one, vamps, wolves, fae, demons, witches, etc. If you are, this book has them. And no, they dont all get along, but the hope to do so is there. There was some spice but the scenes were quick. If you prefer a book where you do get the spice but it doesn't dwell on it, then this book is for you. I know some readers don't want be blushing. I never really got used to reading how the dialogue was written in one paragraph rather than each having its own. It slowed down my reading pace to process who was saying what.

this was a fast paced, stand alone, why choose, romantasy. for a new to me author this was definitely a interesting and unique take on shifters, vampires, and fae in a gritty setting.

ultimately we are fighting a corrupt government system with some pretty shady rulers. there are lots of interesting dynamics in the city amongst the shifters and other creatures. fae are the leaders but definitely corrupt.

parts of the plot were a little confusing to follow but the spice was good and it was a decent read for what it was.

overall: 3.5/5 ⭐️

Oooohhh this book was so addicting. I couldn't put it down!! Literally sent chills up my spine. The tension between Killian and Lena 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 it was hot asf. Then there's Cassius. The descriptions of these men had me drooling 🤤 😋 😍 could not stop reading it. I love Lena. She's fiesta and a complete bad ass. She submits to no one and I love her for it. They get on their knees for her! Its a nice change. Really nice actually. The spice scenes were perfection. I didn't feel gross or weird reading them. They came at the perfect time. Didn't expect to love it and now is one of my favorite shifter romances. Yeah the plots good too but I didnt care so much about that. Just Lena and the spice

If you love a fiercely independent heroine, morally grey supernatural leads, and thick romantic tension, Shadow Bound is a must-read. Lena is a powerhouse protagonist, and her chemistry with the Alpha, the Fae Assassin, and the Ancient Vampire is electric. The Why Choose dynamic is handled with the perfect balance of plot driven stakes and intense, spicy heat. It’s a fast paced, atmospheric escape that kept me hooked until the very last page. Highly recommended for fans of dark urban fantasy!

I really truly wanted to love this book. I loved the premise. I liked the idea of a vampire-werewolf-fae love square. I liked the court intrigue and all of the power plays. But I just couldn’t get into it. Perhaps it is the writing style that I am not a fan of. I found the sentences choppy, and the descriptions and dialogue extremely repetitive. I did enjoy Aurielle and Cassian’s characters. However, I was not a huge fan of Lena and that made it hard for me to get into the story. Overall though, very imaginative and a few spicy scenes.

This book follows our FMC who is a rogue wolf shifter. She is mostly a loner with one or two close friends. Bristles at authority. In a magical world with vampires, fae, demons and shifters, let's just add in some political intrigue. A dash of spice in the form of complex love interests, did I say interests, plural? I was hooked by chapter 2. This books is for lovers of fantasy, grumpy v grumpy, power struggles between everyone and found family tropes.

I wanted more from the relationships. I didn't really feel like there was any yearning or tension, to me the intimate scenes didn't feel like it was the right time & no real build up to it.

Sometimes I found people's hair colour changed. Had to go back and check 🙈

That said, there is a good story here & I did have a good time reading it. Thank you 😊

I really love this book and I hope the beautiful author that wrote it makes a book 2 and turns this book into a series. Lena is my favorite she wolf right now. She's strong, independent, and doesn't take crap from no one. I also love Cassian's love and loyalty for her. Also Aurielle is the perfect bestie I swear. Killian's stubbornness had me wanting to punch him but he came through on the good side of me in the end lol. I wish I could read this book for the first time all over again. I definitely recommend this book if you're into Werewolf shifter, Vampire, Succubus, & Fae books.
