La lettre d'un inconnu peut-elle changer votre vie ? Flavie, auteure de romans d'amour et fleur bleue dans l'âme, ne peut qu'être conquise, quand elle reçoit un jour une missive mystérieuse, accompagnée des excuses de la Poste pour... les quarante-trois ans de retard. I haven't read such a swoon worthy book in quite awhile! While I visited France, through this book, I was starry eyed and dreamy! Flavie Richalet is a school teacher by day and a romance novelist by night. She leads a humdrum life until she receives a letter dated 1971 that the post office had lost for 45 years. This yellowed envelope, addressed to an Amélie Lacombe, contained a declaration of love and a proposal and it was simply signed E. What really got to me was the dual times lines in this story, modern and taking place 45 years ago telling about the relationship Amelie and E had. Flavie believes it is her duty to find who both of these people are are see if they had married different people and gone on with life. In her journey she falls in love herself with the nephew of E. Is she able to find both of them and have they gone on with their own separate lives forgetting about each other over the past 40 years? I absolutely loved this true swoon worthy,tender story.
I will be looking for more of this author's books to read!

(Spolilers)This was my purple colour for August. I have never read a book by this author, this book was originaly in french LE TEMPS VOLÉ. A sweet story about love found in 1971 but then lost for 4 decades until a mystery letter was delivered 4 decades later . Flavie the owner of the house opened it and it picked her curiosity and to find E and Amélie. Four decades later the love birds found each other and love blossomed.
It shows the power of love and not to loose faith. I totaly enjoyed this ebook.
I do recommend it for both french and english readers.

When a letter lost in the post for decades is delivered to a middle-school teacher / author in a small French village, the questions become overwhelming. Addresseed to Amalie, and signed only with an E, Flavie is determined to ferret out the who, the why and perhaps where of the two lovers lost in the vagaries of La Poste. With a premise liket that, anyone who loves romance, history and a little mystery would be hooked (I was) and when you add in the French setting, you can’t look away.
But this is far less about Flavie’s attempts to find E and Amalie, and bring about their reunion: it is a story of Flavie’s discovery of love for herself, her coming to understand the actual power of a love everlasting, and the fires that burn in an attraction. Flavie is a quiet soul, appreciating history and the ‘settled’ while understanding that half of the fun in the search is the discoveries one makes along the way. I loved her character: quietly resolved to finding answers to her many questions, her interactions with friends and people around her were lovely and added depth to the story that presented her as someone who dreamed of connections like the one she found in the letter, but isn’t certain she will find it.
And then she meets Romeric, with a bit of a whirlwind romance in the present time, and she sees some of the connections that she had built with Amelie through E’s letter coming to her own life. While their romance felt a bit pushed and perhaps more a function of wishful thinking and chemical reactions, it was sweet to see Flavie find the sort of memorable moments that she imagined from reading the letter. While far less time was spent on the letter, and more about Flavie’s journey, the story keeps calling out for you to read on: hoping to find an answer for Amelie and E, wishing that they did eventually find one another.
One of those books that is hard to put into words: evocative, transporting and above all engaging, it is a wonderful escape into a gentle love, or two, that resonate through the ages with one simple lost letter.

The synopsis of this book is what made me decide to read it. A letter is received 45 years after it is sent? The person who receives it sets out to discover what happened to those involved? Of course I wanted to read it, this is exactly the kind of thing that I actively seek out when searching for new material to read. I love when there are two storylines, past and present, and the reader is invested in both outcomes.
If I am honest, this story is less about the letter and more about Flavie's journey. While the reader gets some brief glimpses to the back storyline leading up to the issuance of the letter it really is minimal. Falvie's personal journey while trying to solve the mystery is the actual focus of the story. While I was interested to see where the story took Flavie, I do wish there was a little more time spent in 1971.
Speaking of Flavie's journey, this story is essentially a romance. While I liked Flavie and Romaric, I did find that their story moved really fast. Is it possible to fall in love a first site (even if you don't know it)? I guess the point of the story is that yes, it is possible so in that case perhaps their storyline didn't move too fast.
Completely off topic but I feel I must put this out there. I have read a lot of books and been many places throughout the world and this is the first I ever heard of the name Romaric. To be honest I thought it was a play on romance and wondered if this is a common name perhaps in other parts of the world (knowing this story was written with France as the backdrop). I actually googled the name and found all sorts of interesting information. For those who are wondering, it is a name of German decent however has variations of the name in German, Italian, French, Polish, and Spanish. It is a name that is geographically used in Europe. That is my new fact for the day.
Altogether this was a sweet story about love, family, and fighting for those you love. It was an interesting read. My only disappointment is that I wish as I had mentioned earlier that I got to spend more time in 1971 within the pages.

L'héroïne dit à un moment, à propos du gite où elle dort, qu'il est chaleureux, accueillant et douillet.
Hé bien... on peut en dire de même de ce livre.
C'est doux, douillet, chaleureux, original, avec un pointe de mélancolie.
On suit deux histoires en parallèle, deux histoires liées par une lettre et 43 ans.
Et si je regrette la rapidité de certains événements et émotions des personnages, j'ai quand même passé un moment très sympa avec Flavie, Rom, Erwan, Amélie, et tous leurs proches.
C'est mignon et bien écrit, le genre de livre qu'on lit vite, d'une traite et qui laisse un sourire aux lèvres.

Due storie che corrono parallele ma lontane nel tempo, un amore perduto ma mai dimentico e un altro in procinto di sbocciare.
Una lettura carica di romanticismo, in cui si ripercorrono le tracce di un antico amore mai dimenticato.
"Nonostante la lontananza e lo scorrere del tempo, l'amava follemente e appassionatamente."
Con una narrazione soave e semplice, ci viene raccontata una trama dolce, affascinante, piena di speranza e voglia di combattere per il vero amore.
Trama che coinvolge personaggi non particolarissimi, ma senza dubbio ben delineati e in grado di fare breccia nel nostro cuore.

Flavie, eine junge & lebensfrohe Lehrerin, erreicht ein geheimnisvoller Brief, welcher mit 43-jähriger Verspätung, an einem Dienstag überraschend in ihrem Postkasten landet. Der Absender, ein gewisser "E", welcher an eine Amélie im Jahr 1971 schreibt. Der Inhalt...ein sehr persönlicher.
Mit etlichen Fragezeichen im Gepäck und übermannt von den Gefühlen in diesem Brief, ist Flavie fest entschlossen, auf eigene Faust Nachforschungen betreffend dem Absender anzustellen & begegnet auf ihrer Reise wunderbaren Menschen und findet sich in wunderschönen Orten wieder. Wird Sie es schaffen, dass ersehnte Happy End für das unbekannte Paar mitzuerleben?
Fazit:
Die ersten Seiten des Buches, der Klappentext & auch das wunderschöne Cover machten mich neugierig auf diese süsse Geschichte mit dem französischen Flair. Die Neugier auf die Geschehnisse zwischen dem geheimnisvollen Paar aus der Vergangenheit & die Tatsache, dass eine Braut unmittelbar vor ihrer Hochzeit an ihren Verflossenen denkt, machten es mir unmöglich nicht weiter zu lesen.
Die Protagonistin Flavie und alle anderen Charaktere in dem Buch fand ich sehr sympathisch. Der Schreibstil ist sehr flüssig und gut zu lesen. Das Setting besticht durch seine zauberhaften kleinen Örtchen, in denen man sofort verweilen möchte. Die zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen in diesem Buch empfand ich als sehr angenehm und "leicht". Es hatte nichts beschwerliches oder in dem Sinne "dramatisches". Das war sehr positiv. Die gefühlvollen Dialoge und den wunderschönen Brief mochte ich auch sehr gerne. Das hat dem Buch seine Magie verliehen.
Abzug an Sternen gibt es, wegen dem Spannungsbogen. Dieser verlor sich etwa schon bald nach dem Beginn bzw. in der Mitte des Buches. Das war sehr schade, da man nur weiter lesen wollte, um nun zu erfahren wie es ausgeht, jedoch nicht deshalb weil die Spannung aufrecht blieb. Das empfand ich als etwas "zäh". Auch hätte ich mir ein etwas besser ausgefeiltes Ende gewünscht. Ansonsten ein sehr schönes Buch, welches man gut zwischendurch lesen kann.

One of the most romantic stories I have read so far this year! Chloé Duval reeled me in with her beautiful writing and amazing characters, and I stayed connected throughout the entire book. I started reading it around 8:30am and I finished in two hours. I could not put it down!
A history teacher by day and a romance writer by night, Flavie Richalet is a sweet soul easily captured by the past and yearning for love in the future. When a mysterious letter arrives on her doorstep, address to Lili, she instantly recognizes that she has stumbled across a story that will stay with her forever. The letter was written 45 years ago, by a young man who signs only with the letter E, and it speaks of a romance thwarted by distance and time. Setting out to find Lili and E, Flavie embarks on a journey that will change her life forever, to where love is not bound by time and life be afforded a second chance.
I can’t say enough about the way the author wrote her characters! She illustrated perfectly the various people we meet throughout our lives, from the busybody friends who live vicariously through us to strangers who create our home-away-from-home. Flavie alone was a joy to read about, with her knitting club and her antique dealer father. As someone who loves history and has a deep passion for antiques, I connected well with the type of person Flavie is. Although her ambition for writing took me aback at times, as I don’t know if I would have had the courage to ask to write someone else’s story, she handled delicate circumstances with kindness and a gentle hand. Her connection with the handsome Romeric was icing on top of a perfect story – they fell in love over the course of a few days, and their chemistry leapt off the pages and into my heart. The romantic in me felt like she had died and gone to heaven.
If you are a fan of star-crossed lovers or lost love letters, you will love this book! It has all the makings of a Hallmark Channel movie, so look out. If it’s not this book, I am sure another book by Chloé Duval will eventually hit the big screen. I know I will be waiting eagerly to read more books by this author.

"Sur la blogosphère, il arrive que l'on fasse de jolies rencontres et pour moi ce fut le cas de Chloé. C'est pour cela que je voulais à tout prix lire ce roman dont la couverture est, en plus, pleine de promesses."
Dites-nous en un peu plus sur son histoire...
"Flavie, jeune professeur qui écrit à ses heures perdues, reçoit un jour, dans sa petite maison de Bretagne, une lettre d'amour bouleversante. Mais cette lettre ne lui est pas adressée et elle a quarante-trois ans de retard..."
Mais que s'est-il exactement passé entre vous?
"On plonge tête la première dans cette histoire, on est immédiatement happé par ce rendez-vous manqué, par le destin de ces deux êtres qui n'ont pas réussi à se retrouver. C'est beau mais c'est aussi extrêmement triste et je ne peux m'empêcher de tourner les pages pour savoir ce qui va arriver. Après, je dois avouer que mon intérêt retombe un peu, Erwan et Amélie passent au second plan et les recherches s'éternisent sans raison et sans cohérence pour moi. Puis, enfin, nous faisons la rencontre de nouveaux personnages, d'un nouvel univers douillet dans lequel on se sent bien, comme on aime à se sentir en lisant une romance. Malgré tout, et ce genre littéraire n'étant pas mon favori, je dois bien avouer que certains détails sont pour moi un peu too much et que Romaric, le héros, est agaçant de perfection, mais je suis sûre que les inconditionnelles du genre se régaleront."

"Il n'y a pas beaucoup de surprises mais les ingrédients ont pris même si je ne peux m'empêcher de regretter tout ce temps volé !"

Une histoire qui alterne un style à la première personne avec quelques passages à la 3e personne peu nombreux. Il y a quelques clichés, et on peut regretter que l'histoire en elle-même tout comme les sentiments soient un peu rapides, mais l'ensemble est tout mignon et léger comme une bulle.
A story that alternates a first person POV with a few third person POV parts. There are some clichés, and we can regret that the story itself and the feelings are a little fast, but the whole is cute and light as a bubble.

Ma chère Chloé, je suis ravie d'avoir fait ta connaissance à travers un super groupe de lecture avec de supers nanas qui ont une passion pour les livres, David Gandy, Penny Reid et bien sur le tricot!!!
J'ai énormément aimé cette fabuleuse histoire! J'en ai encore le sourire aux lèvres!

Cette histoire m'a captivée du début à la fin, à travers la réception d'une lettre perdue par la poste se retrouvant dans les mains de Flavie, professeur d'histoire.
Il se dégage de ce roman une certaine mélancolie, qui m'a transportée tout au long de l'histoire. J'ai apprécié cette quête d'un amour perdu, dont le seul indice était la lettre d'amour d'un mystérieux inconnu.
Commence une quête pour Flavie, où de fabuleuses rencontres sont au rendez-vous, des moments et personnes qui resteront à jamais gravés dans sa mémoire.

Lors de son voyage, elle va faire la connaissance de Romaric, qui est tout simplement plus que charmant (sachant que j'ai su de les acteurs ayant inspiré l'auteur pour ses personnages masculins, je n'ai pu qu'approuver ses choix!). Une rencontre vécue comme un électrochoc avec une attirance qui ne peut pas être reniée.
Comment ne peut-on pas tomber sous le charme de ce jeune homme, avec ses yeux bleus, un sourire à fondre ces dames et gérant de chambres d'hôtes?

Cette histoire m'a captivée du début à la fin, à travers la réception d'une lettre perdue par la poste se retrouvant dans les mains de Flavie, professeur d'histoire.
Il se dégage de ce roman une certaine mélancolie, qui m'a transportée tout au long de l'histoire. J'ai apprécié cette quête d'un amour perdu, dont le seul indice était la lettre d'amour d'un mystérieux inconnu.
Commence une quête pour Flavie, où de fabuleuses rencontres sont au rendez-vous, des moments et personnes qui resteront à jamais gravés dans sa mémoire.

Pratiquement un coup de coeur!!
En cette triste période, j'avais besoin d'un livre doudou.
Un livre dans lequel je pourrai me plonger avec bonheur. Un livre qui me collerait un sourire au visage. Un livre qui me permettrait de m'immerger dans l'univers créé par l'auteur avec délectation.
Flavie est une héroïne des temps moderne. Prof d'histoire, écrivaine pour elle et ses copines à ses heures perdues, fan de tricot, cuisinant des pâtisseries.
Et un jour elle reçoit une lettre.
Mais pas n'importe quelle lettre. Celle ci arrive avec 43 ans de retard.
Une déclaration d'amour à une femme que Flavie ne connaît pas. Mais qu'elle décide de retrouver.
Elle se donne pour mission de savoir ce que sont devenus les deux amoureux dont cette lettre parle.
J'ai aimé la douceur de l'histoire.
Ce livre m'a collé un sourire aux lèvres à de nombreuses reprises.
J'ai vu beaucoup de choses arriver certes mais j'ai adoré. Parce que c'est doux, c'est chou, c'est comme un cocon dans lequel on a envie de se lover.
J'ai aimé les passages qui se déroulent dans le passé et expliquent ainsi le présent.
J'ai aimé les relations entre les personnages. Celles qui existent déjà. Et celles qui se nouent au fur et à mesure.
J'ai aimé les légendes contées.
J'ai aimé que parfois ce soit un peu cliché. Ça ne m'a pas gênée car c'est si joliment raconté.
Pourquoi pas 5 me direz-vous ?
Parce que c'est beaucoup troooooop court! J'en aurai voulu plus. Et que certains moments prennent plus leur temps.

Voila , je viens de lire le dernier mot de ce roman que je n'ai pas pu lâcher...
Cela faisait bien longtemps que je n'avais lu une romance de cette qualité. Le style est fluide et moderne. On toucherait presque du doigt les personnages tellement ils sont attachant, les principaux comme les subalternes. Et puis il y a des trouvailles truculentes comme ce club des tricoteuses qui tricotent des pulls pour des manchots ! Oui, j'ai vérifié les pulls pour des manchots, ça existe.
L'histoire est une convergence d'histoires et de destins, avec pour prétexte une lettre arrivée 43 ans après avoir été postée. Cette lettre aurait pu être jetée, oubliée, ignorée... Cette lettre va être le centre de la vie de Flavie et l’entraînera dans une enquête pour en retrouver les protagonistes.
Tout cela est joliment amené et on a de cesse de savoir comment tout cela va finir...

C'est frais, mignon, drôle, ça mange pas de pain... un vrai plaisir à lire ! Et j'aime beaucoup l'écriture, comme d'habitude.
Mon préféré des trois romances de l'auteure demeure la première, Parce que c'est toi, mais celle-là était également très chouette !
(J'ajouterai néanmoins mon bémol habituel sur le travail d'édition de Bragelonne/Milady... des coquilles, des coquilles, encore des coquilles !)

J'ai beaucoup aimé ce roman tout doux, très tendre.
J'ai eu le sourire durant ma lecture et j'ai adoré suivre l'histoire d'erwan et Amélie.
Le début du roman est un peu mois fluide, mais cela passe vite et on se retrouve très vite happé par l'histoire et les personnages.
Une jolie romance sucrée comme il faut qui remplit son contrat :)

C'est un véritable coup de cœur pour ce roman qui m'a totalement bouleversée. L'émotion fleuri à chaque page, dans chaque mot, pour mieux vous habiter et vous faire vibrer au rythme de la quête de Flavie.
Cette quête, qu'elle entreprend par envie, par son côté fleur bleue et par réelle curiosité, va lui apporter bien plus que ce qu'elle avait envisagé et chambouler sa vie, dans tous les sens du terme.
Flavie est une jeune femme éblouissante. J'ai tout aimé dans son caractère : sa gentillesse, son empathie, sa douceur, ses divagations incessantes, son envie de faire bien et surtout cette détermination sans faille qu'elle arbore avec dévotion et sincérité. J'ai aimé son métier, sa passion, son tricot, ses amies et ce rapport très fort qu'elle entretient avec son père.
Les personnages secondaires sont terriblement humains et apportent une âme supplémentaire au texte, ce petit truc qui fait que ceux-ci font partie intégrante de l'histoire, ils la font exister, respirer et ainsi en deviennent des acteurs indispensables.
Vous verrez que le décor est très bien posé. Il y a tout un environnement, des habitudes quotidiennes, une vie créée autour de chaque personnage.
Ce roman est une véritable ode à l'amour et à l'espoir. L'espoir qu'il faut toujours garder au fond de soi, un espoir qui efface les regrets, un espoir qui gonfle les cœurs, un espoir qui offre l'avenir.
Un roman qui m'a littéralement envoûtée et captivée. Il m'a transportée mot après mot dans un récit emprunt de nostalgie, de beauté, d'amitié, d'amour.
L’honnêteté et la vérité sont des points forts de ce texte. Ils transparaissent dans chaque parole, chaque paysage.
C'est un véritable voyage que vous procure "Le Temps Volé". Un voyage au fond des âmes, un voyage dans le temps, les souvenirs, un voyage au cœur de la Bretagne, de ses légendes, un voyage où l’amour bercera chaque instant de sa douceur et de sa force.
Ce roman se ressent, se déguste. Il faut en lire chaque phrase pour s'imprégner de l'ambiance angélique qu'il dégage et en absorber toute la saveur.
La fin est magistrale.
La plume de l'auteur est fluide, régulière. Elle nous transporte dans un maelstrom d'émotions intenses et omniprésentes.
La façon dont Chloé DUVAL fait parler son héroïne est très bien faite, avec une pointe d'humour, de rêve et d'auto-dérision.
La description des paysages, l'exposé des légendes et le flot imaginaire sans borne de Flavie sont tout simplement sublimes, tout comme la mise en oeuvre et l'évolution de l'histoire d'amour.
Il y a un bon équilibre entre la narration et les dialogues. On ne s'ennui pas une seule fois. C'est un texte assez addictif, très bien écrit, détaillé, sans longueur, avec des mots toujours justes, précis, là où il faut. Une plume simple et somme toute banale qui réussi, avec brio, par de belles alliances de mots à nous provoquer une réelle émotion, quelle qu'elle soit.
Bref, un roman magnifique. Le genre d'histoire qui me touche profondément, qui fait vibrer mon petit cœur de romantique et me fait rêver les yeux ouverts.

Cari Smeraldi, cosa avreste fatto se una mattina, nella vostra cassetta della posta, aveste trovato una lettera spedita più di quarant’anni fa?
Flavie è una professoressa di storia e geografia e per hobby si diletta a scrivere romanzi rosa. Vive in un paese in riva al mare nella regione della Bretagna e una mattina trova tra la sua corrispondenza una lettera con una dicitura sul retro della busta, da parte dell’ufficio postale, con su scritto:
“Ci scusiamo per il ritardo con la quale la lettera è stata recapitata a questo indirizzo”
Presa dalla curiosità e dalla busta dai bordi ormai ingiallite Flavie la apre e al suo interno trova le parole di un innamorato che si firma solo con E.
“…Mi manchi, mia cara Amélie…Vieni da me è sposami…raggiungimi all’indirizzo che trovi sopra la busta…Ti aspetterò ogni sera…”
La storica che è in Flavie e la vena romantica che le scorre nel sangue le fa intraprendere una vera caccia al tesoro, parte così alla ricerca dei due giovani innamorati descritti nella lettera, per scoprire se si sono ricongiunti, oppure, a causa dell’insidioso destino, non si sono mai più rivisti. Fin da subito si è portati a leggere di una storia nella storia. Dapprima si torna indietro nel 1971, nella quale in terza persona l’autrice racconta dell’incontro tra Amélie ed Erwan. Parla di un amore a prima vista e di una promessa d’amore. Erwan fa l’apprendista nei Compagnos de Devoir che si occupano di un’architettura in pietra da taglio e l’apprendistato prevede un tour della Francia di diversi anni, si scopre quindi che la separazione fu doverosa all’epoca. Si ritorna poi al presente, dove troviamo il pov della nostra Flavie, che inizia a raccogliere sempre più indizi, sempre più informazioni, fin quando riesce a rintracciare l’autore della lettera. I due si incontrano e Flavie conosce Erwan, un affascinante ultra sessantenne, dai modi gentili, innamorato ancora del suo primo e unico amore, un vero è proprio uomo d’altri tempi! Durante quell’incontro però, Flavie conosce anche Romaric, il nipote di Erwan e ne rimane folgorata al primo sguardo. Romaric è uomo prestante dagli occhi di ghiaccio, proprietario di un b&b, dove alloggia la nostra protagonista. Schioccheranno scintille fra i due e parallelamente si leggerà della storia d’amore tra Flavie e Romaric e, della histoire d’amour, a ritroso, tra Erwan e Amélie.
La lettera segreta è una lettura appassionante, dalla scrittura tenera e profondamente romantica, che mi ha conquistato dal principio accendendo la mia curiosità fin da subito con il mistero della lettera. Si legge con semplicità e per scelta non voglio rivelare gli sviluppi di questi amori intrecciati fra loro, tra passato e presente, perché il romanzo è tutto da scoprire. Mentre leggevo mi è tornata in mente un vecchio pezzo armonioso e dolce dell’intramontabile Whitney Houston che con All at once, canta di un amore mai dimenticato. Per tutti coloro che sognano ancora ad occhi aperti, dove la speranza è sempre viva nel cuore, dove non si stancano mai di leggere di amori sofferti, che vivono nel tempo nonostante la distanza, allora questo romanzo di Chloé Duval è irrinunciabile da leggere.

Ben trovate, amiche di "disagio".
Quest'oggi vi racconto un po' dell'ultimo romanzo che la Garzanti ha gentilmente omaggiato al blog.
Si tratta de "La lettera segreta" di Chloè Duval, uscito proprio i primi giorni di settembre.
Flavie è un'insegnante di Storia e Geografia presso il liceo del paesino in cui vive, Kerouac in Francia. È single e vive tutta da sola in una casa che ha comprato dopo essersene innamorata a prima vista. Ha un gruppo di amiche affiatate con le quali si riunisce in un club di lavoro a maglia ed è una scrittrice di romanzi rosa che non pubblica mai.
Un giorno, tra la posta, trova una lettera indirizzata ad una donna, Amelie, che abitava tanto tempo fa
nella sua casa.
La lettera, datata 1971, ci aveva impiegato ben 43 anni per raggiungere il luogo a cui era indirizzata, ma purtroppo non aveva trovato la sua destinataria.
Dopo qualche scrupolo, Flavie apre la lettera e la legge. Si imbatte così in una appassionata dichiarazione di amore eterno per Amelie. La lettera è firmata soltanto E. e non ha un indirizzo di mittenza.
Flavie, romantica come solo una scrittrice di rosa sa essere, decide che deve saperne di più e comincia le sue ricerche.
Ben presto trova notizie e il numero di telefono sia di Amellie che di E, che si rivela essere uno scultore che aveva fatto il suo apprendistato presso Kerouac. Erwan, questo è il suo nome, è il primo dei due che Flavie contatta, e questo gesto si rivelerà essere importante non solo per Erwan e Amelie, ma anche per lei, perchè andando a trovare l'ormai sessantenne uomo, Flavie troverà anche l'amore.
Mi pare di aver raccontato già troppo, per i colpi di scena dovrete leggere il romanzo.
Vi dico subito che "La lettera segreta" mi ha ricordato molto un altro bellissimo romanzo che ho letto lo scorso anno, "Un nastro color lavanda". La trama è praticamente la stessa, quindi se vi è piaciuto quest'ultimo, apprezzerete anche il romanzo della Duval.
È stata, per me, una lettura godibile e leggera.
Mi è piaciuto lo stile semplice e la narrazione pulita e scorrevole.
Nei primi capitoli, oltre alla narrazione del presente raccontato da Flavie, ritroviamo alcuni salti indietro nel tempo che ci mostrano l'inizio e la fine della storia d'amore tra Erwan e Amelie. Una fine che, in realtà, è solo apparente, perché il loro amore era talmente forte che nessuno dei due ha mai dimenticato l'altro.
L'atmosfera che permea il libro è di serenità, nonostante la triste storia tra i due amanti.
Non ci sono grossi drammi né esplosivi colpi di scena, non ci scoppierà il cuore né ci si attorciglierà lo stomaco, ma saremo contente di accompagnare Flavie nel suo viaggio.

Quest'oggi vi racconto un po' dell'ultimo romanzo che la Garzanti ha gentilmente omaggiato al blog.
Si tratta de "La lettera segreta" di Chloè Duval, uscito proprio i primi giorni di settembre.
Flavie è un'insegnante di Storia e Geografia presso il liceo del paesino in cui vive, Kerouac in Francia. È single e vive tutta da sola in una casa che ha comprato dopo essersene innamorata a prima vista. Ha un gruppo di amiche affiatate con le quali si riunisce in un club di lavoro a maglia ed è una scrittrice di romanzi rosa che non pubblica mai.
Un giorno, tra la posta, trova una lettera indirizzata ad una donna, Amelie, che abitava tanto tempo fa
nella sua casa.
La lettera, datata 1971, ci aveva impiegato ben 43 anni per raggiungere il luogo a cui era indirizzata, ma purtroppo non aveva trovato la sua destinataria.
Dopo qualche scrupolo, Flavie apre la lettera e la legge. Si imbatte così in una appassionata dichiarazione di amore eterno per Amelie. La lettera è firmata soltanto E. e non ha un indirizzo di mittenza.
Flavie, romantica come solo una scrittrice di rosa sa essere, decide che deve saperne di più e comincia le sue ricerche.
Ben presto trova notizie e il numero di telefono sia di Amellie che di E, che si rivela essere uno scultore che aveva fatto il suo apprendistato presso Kerouac. Erwan, questo è il suo nome, è il primo dei due che Flavie contatta, e questo gesto si rivelerà essere importante non solo per Erwan e Amelie, ma anche per lei, perchè andando a trovare l'ormai sessantenne uomo, Flavie troverà anche l'amore.
Mi pare di aver raccontato già troppo, per i colpi di scena dovrete leggere il romanzo.

Stolen Time is a brilliantly written story about a second chance at love that has spanned more than 45 years. It started with a letter, a mystery for Flavie to solve, one that once she is able to find all the missing pieces, or most of them would not only lead her to the author of that letter, but to his nephew as well, and a possible future that would give her what she thought only happened in the books that she wrote.
The characters are very well written and quite charming and extremely likable. They are the kind of characters that you would call friends or even family and would instantly claim them as such. Flavie is a middle school history teacher and author of romance books. She lives in a small town where her father lives and has her small circle of friends. She's smart, cleaver and a beauty to say the least. Romaric, the nephew to what I call the lead male simply because this story is really about him and his Amelie, is strong, handsome, sweet and romantic and very much swoon worthy and after a short time has fallen in love with Flavie and she with him. Erwan is also strong, handsome, and quite talented and has held his love for Amelie throughout his life. Amelie is a talented designer, beautiful and has never stopped loving Erwan.
This is a beautiful story, told to us through Flavie and regressions to the past through Erwan's memories. It will capture you, latch onto your heart and lead to through this story of a love for the ages. I finished this book with a smile and a weeping heart that threatened to put me into a full blown fit of tears. Beautiful...just absolutely beautiful. I wish I could give this book 20 stars and I so very highly recommend this book.

Anche in questo romanzo c'è una piccola componente di ritorno al passato, ma per forza di cose, direi, anche se non così marcata come in altri romanzi.
Il titolo del libro fa intuire un po' la trama: una lettera recapitata circa quarant'anni dopo ad una persona diversa che ha rimpiazzato i vecchi inquilini della casa.
Siamo in Francia, a Kerouac. Flavie insegna storia e geografia nel liceo locale, scrive romanzi per passione e adora sferruzzare a maglia con le amiche del club.
Un giorno come tanti trova tra la posta appena arrivata una lettera che attira la sua attenzione: la destinataria non è lei, è una certa Amélie Lacombe e il timbro postale riporta la data di quarantatré anni prima.
Indecisa sul da farsi, ma curiosa per natura, decide di leggere la lettera. Una lettera d'amore per Lili da parte di E., arrivata troppo tardi e che, se fosse arrivata nel momento giusto, avrebbe cambiato il loro destino. Ma il destino ha giocato un brutto scherzo a Lili e questo misterioso E.
Contenta di aver aperto la lettera, la sua mente inizia a vagare, complice la sua passione per la scrittura, inventando finali alternativi e con la voglia di scoprire chi siano questi potenziali protagonisti di questo "romanzo d'amore".
Si mette sulle tracce sia di Lili che dell'uomo misterioso. Quando le speranze di ritrovare lei sono ridotte, in attesa di ulteriori notizie, scopre invece chi è E, cioè Erwan, uno scalpellino e scultore dei Compagnons. Lo contatta e dopo avergli spiegato il motivo della telefonata, ancora sconvolto dalla notizia che lo rimanda indietro nel tempo, accetta la proposta di Flavie di consegnargli la lettera personalmente. Lei ne approfitterà per trascorrere qualche giorno di vacanza e potrà spiegare tutto con calma a Erwan.
Contemporaneamente riesce ad ottenere l'indirizzo di Lili.
Arrivata a destinazione, trova una famiglia molto unita e cordiale, che la farà sentire sin da subito come a casa propria: Erwan ha prenotato la stanza per lei nel bed&breakfast dei nipoti, Romaric e Gwen, con cui farà subito amicizia e poco a poco, si innamorerà di Romaric!
La sua determinazione e voglia di scrivere a tutti i costi il lieto fine di questa storia, convinceranno Erwan ad incontrare Lili, per confrontarsi con lei, soprattutto dopo aver scoperto che la mancata risposta alla sua lettera non è avvenuta per sua volontà, ma forzata dal destino!
Rientrata a casa, più disperata di prima, per essersi dovuta staccare da Romaric, con cui ha iniziato una storia d'amore, conta i giorni che la separano dalla visita di lui.
Ma la vera sorpresa sarà trovarsi di fronte Erwan, che non aveva detto nulla a Flavie circa le sue intenzioni di ritrovare Lili e Gwen.
L'ultima parte del "viaggio" che ha cambiato la vita di Flavie e che la stravolgerà successivamente, inizia.
Il lieto fine, anzi direi il doppio lieto fine è dietro l'angolo. Eh si, perché sia Lili e Erwan, che Romaric e Flavie, coroneranno il loro sogno d'amore, iniziando una nuova vita tutti insieme nella grande famiglia che si è appena formata.
Lo stile è semplice, scorrevole e, nonostante i tratti di nostalgia e tristezza che velano i ricordi di Erwan, spensierato! Ben descritta anche la "vacanza" di Flavie e il viaggio nel sud della Francia alla ricerca di Lili: una descrizione dei luoghi nei particolari che infonde tranquillità e la voglia di un viaggio rilassante, con tutto il tempo a disposizione, senza corse ed assilli vari!
Stessa cosa per i personaggi, i loro pensieri, le loro vite...anche i personaggi secondari, come le simpatiche amiche del club della maglia e il padre di Flavie.

Romantische, märchenhafte Geschichte über eine niemals vergessene Liebe
Als Flavie einen Brief erhält, der vor 43 Jahren geschrieben wurde und an eine junge Frau adressiert ist, die damals in ihrem Haus gewohnt hat, ist ihre Neugier geweckt. Sie beginnt nach der Empfängerin und bald auch nach dem Absender des Briefes zu suchen. Noch ahnt sie nicht, dass dadurch auch ihr eigenes Leben komplett auf den Kopf gestellt wird. Tatsächlich findet sie Amélie und Erwan und es scheint, als hätten beide ihre grosse Liebe niemals vergessen...
Die Geschichte dieses Buches ist wunderschön und märchenhaft und lädt zum träumen ein. Wer hätte nicht auch gerne einen Mann wie Erwan oder Romaric in seinem Leben? Leider wird der Lesefluss immer mal wieder etwas dadurch gestört, dass der Leser direkt angesprochen wird, das passt meiner Meinung nach nicht wirklich zu dieser Geschichte und wirkt wie ein Stilbruch. Lieber hätte ich noch etwas mehr über das jeweilige Gefühlsleben der Protagonisten erfahren. Doch auch so konnte mich die Geschichte berühren und ich habe bis zur letzten Seite auf das Happy End für Amélie und Erwan gehofft, welches zum Glück dann auch eingetreten ist. Allein schon der Gedanke, dass die Geschichte vielleicht wahr sein könnte, finde ich einfach schön. Das Buch hat viel französisches Flair und man fühlt sich direkt in eine andere Welt versetzt. Die Geschichte spielt zwar grösstenteils in der heutigen Zeit, trotzdem habe ich mich immer eher wie in vergangenen Zeiten gefühlt, das Buch strahlt viel Ruhe aus.

Kann der Brief eines fremden Menschen dein eigenes Leben verändern?
Flavie ist eine Lehrerin und gleichzeitig Autorin etlicher unveröffentlichter Liebesromanen, die allesamt in ihrer Schublade liegen, als sie eines Tages einen Brief eines ihr unbekannten Mannes erhält. Das beiligende Entschuldigungsschreiben der Post verrät, dass der Brief vor über 40 Jahren hätte zugestellt werden müssen. Um wen handelt es sich bei dem jungen E., der eine Amélie mit eindringlichen Zeilen bittet, mit ihm ein neues Leben zu beginnen?
Kurzerhand macht sich Flavie auf die Suche… Kann sie nach all den Jahren den Briefeschreiber und die eigentliche Empfängerin ausfindig machen? Unterstützt durch ihre Freundinnen aus dem Strick-Club ist Flavie willens dem Ganzen zu einem Happy End zu verhelfen.
„Wir beide, nach all den Jahren“ ist ein netter kleiner Roman, der die große Liebe des Lebens behandelt und sich ziemlich rasch weglesen lässt. Aber die Handlung ist eben auch ziemlich vorhersehbar und die Sprache grenzt nicht nur an Kitschigkeit… Ja, die Idee mit der verpassten Chance durch die verspätete Post aus den 70ern ist ein guter Einfall, die Figuren sind sympathisch entwickelt (nur Flavie hat mich ab und an ein wenig genervt), aber die Suche ist stellenweise doch ein bisschen too much, die Idee dahinter so rosarot - aber bei 256 Seiten kein wirkliches Problem.
Wie gesagt, ein netter Roman, der aber schnell in Vergessenheit gerät. Kann man lesen, muss man aber nicht.

Flavie lives in a beautiful small village in France. She is a middle school teacher, she writes novels and she is a dedicated knitter. Her home is an historic house and one day she receives a letter from 1971 which is addressed to a former tenant in the house.
Being a curious person, Flavie cannot help herself. She opens the letter and finds that it is a love letter to Amalie. But, there is no return address nor is there a name. The signature is simply E.
Thus begins a search by Flavie. She investigates to find out what happened to Amalie, who is E and are they now together? Was the letter just a letter or was it a heartfelt plea from one lover to another?
This is a very well written book.
Ms Duval has created a story which includes the present day as well as memories from a wonderful time in 1971 when love was strong enough to change lives. Her writing is quite lovely and provides the reader with a strong sense of place and atmosphere.
Flavie and her father, her friends and the people she finds in her present day search are all characters who draw the reader into a feeling of tenderness and romance.
I enjoyed this delightful story very much.
At times I felt the pace became a little slow. But, every description of what Flavie found in her search are beautifully written.
I think if you listen carefully, you can hear the breeze blowing across lavender fields.

Era da tempo che non mi capitava di leggere un romanzo così intenso; un romanzo che leggi credendo che fosse infinito e, all'improvviso, ti trovi alla fine con le lacrime agli occhi. Se all'inizio parte un po’ a ritmi lenti, come quasi tutti i romanzi, con l'arrivo della lettera il mistero si infittisce. Ci troviamo a percorrere ogni passo che Flavie decide di compiere per scoprire il mistero della lettera. Cerchiamo anche di anticiparla per suggerire nuove soluzioni di modo da arrivare prima alla soluzione. Ma è proprio l'attesa che carica il lettore del phatos giusto. La storia non è per nulla forzata, è reale e corrisponde alla realtà. L'amore dei protagonisti è puro, sincero. Ritengo che l'autrice abbia trasmesso dei messaggi importanti quali la speranza è, soprattutto la forza dell'amore.
«L’ama ancora, vero?» La mia era un’affermazione più che una domanda. «Credo di non avere mai smesso di amarla. Anche quando mi sentivo ferito, in collera con lei perché non aveva mantenuto la sua promessa, Amélie era comunque la donna della mia vita. Penso a lei ogni giorno.»
È un romanzo di forza: non bisogna mai arrendersi, il destino trova sempre la strada prestabilita anche se le nostre scelte ci possono portare a deviare dal “finale”.

This was such an enchanting journey. The story is set in France. Flavie Richalet is a teacher and romance writer. She receives a letter with an apology from the post office because it is a delayed delivery. It is postmarked 1971! It is a love letter from E to Amelie Lacombe. Flavie is a historian and romantic and she begins on the journey to find more about these two and their story. She ends up trying to reunite these two former lovers whose love story only ended due to miscommunication, a letter not received. During this journey Flavie ends up finding her own love story. Another thing I loved about this book was I learned some history of France and how their way of life differs from mine, in United States of America. I found myself really relating to Flavie with her love for history and also love for a good romance story.
