Cute Story
In the beginning when Hugh left his castle in Scotland to claim his so-called bride, he told no one of his plans. Once in England he went to claim his unaware bride, Anna. After a quick wedding they left for Scotland and his castle. Upon arrival the Village people loved her, the castle staff and the Lairds men also fell in love with her. The Counsel not so much. At this point things took a dramatic turn of events. Cute and entertaining tale.

The writing was good, and the story was engaging. There were times it became a bit repetitive, though.
The characters’ actions didn’t make sense a lot of the time. The lack of communication was astounding, and there didn’t seem to be a plausible explanation for any of it.
Hugh wondered who was in charge while he was gone, yet didn’t ask anyone until CHAPTERS later. Ana was off doing her own “investigation” and would tell Hugh about some of it (like rumors) but not the important stuff (like who was stealing the money).
Ana would be brave and confront the antagonist one second, but the moment she got threatened she literally ran away. Then, all her maid had to do was say “you need to tell someone” and Ana was like “you’re right, I should do that right now” and goes to confront even more people. What?
The arguing between Hugh and the council was also stupid. Every chapter had the same characters arguing about the same topics. By the end, I wanted to bang my head against a wall (it would’ve been more productive).
Without the communication issues and fickleness of the characters, this would have been a 4 star read for me. I just couldn’t get past the absurdity.

The love story of Lady Anna and Laird McDonald Hugh. Anna is an English lady that is frequently made fun of by the ton. She decides to make up a fake betrothal to a dead laird that will get her critics off her back. Little does she know that the letter she sent went to the new Laird McDonald. Hugh the new Laird McDonald get this letter out of the blue. He reads Anna's marriage proposal and decides to take her up on it. He needs her betrothal money to repair his castle. So he heads down to London to find Anna and claim her. And that's just the start of the story!
This is a very well written book with complex characters and fascinating storyline. It will keep you guessing. Bonnie does it again and gives us a great book that I read way too quickly. I couldn't put it down.

Such a wonderful story
I really enjoyed this book! I had a feeling what was going on as it had a similar storyline to a book I read some time ago. I just couldn’t get enough and didn’t want to put it down. I almost canceled my appointment so I could stay home and read. Such a fabulous author. I just know that you will enjoy this book immensely. I don’t want to give you any spoiler alerts. All I can say is,start reading. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Little did Anna know that her letter to her false betrothed would end up with a real Highlander. This is a sweet story about how Hugh and Anna come to know each other. However, there are a few evil villains that want the lairdship. Could it be Callum, Marcus or Angus? Read it to find out. This is a story about a battle of wills and not on the battlefield.

Bargain for Hugh
Great story of how emphasis is put on Anna and her caring heart. She overcomes pressure from living as an English lady and being plump. Laird Hugh are is a laird who stands firm in his decision s no matter what. Taking out the corruption was a valuable key in saving his position. Loved it

Such a wonderful well-written powerful Scottish story. Of Hugh the Highland Laird ,and English Lady Anna. Full of both love and humour. I highly recommend this wonderful exciting story. Plus the extended epilogue.

Sweet book..
I would recommend this author. Bonnie Kimmons.. I have read many of her books. They all have a wonderful storyline. I like that she describes the intimacy nicely without it being overly done.

It has such a great beginning! I hadn`t laughed that hard in a while, it lost me a bit by the middle with the plot but it had a somewhat satisfying ending.

Refreshing premise for a book!
Good writing with an interesting plot. I knew going into it who would be the culprit when the mystery was solved, but still thought it was well done.

Any book that leads with “curvy girl” is an automatic one-star for me. There is no need to distinguish the female lead’s body as a negative. It was really awful. I read a few lines of the first chapter and was immediately turned off by the writing and characterization. It feels formulaic, rushed, and indistinguishable from other fast-fiction romance churn. The writing quality is poor, and it reads like it was produced for volume rather than craft. Not for me at all.
