Fate Changes: A Pride and Prejudice Variation

Alternative Fitzwilliam Darcy as a Second Son
This is a second edition, expanded and revised with a few changes.

“Dear sister, I have some delightful news to share with you. The new parson of Netherfield Park has at last arrived. He is a young and handsome gentleman, and—best of all— single. He comes from a wealthy family in Derbyshire, and his name is Fitzwilliam Darcy…”
Mrs. Bennet’s face immediately brightened with unrestrained pleasure, the intelligence setting her imagination in lively motion. With four daughters and a niece to marry, the arrival of an eligible gentleman in the neighbourhood appeared little short of a providential blessing. Yet, in her own estimation, her eldest was far too beautiful to marry a mere parson, while her youngest was not yet out.

This is the 3rd time (I think) that I've read this - grumble about GR in spoiler

This version is much cleaner from what I remember, the FFN and the 1st edition still had some ESL feel to it - this one doesn't. ODC don't have any significant obstacles getting together in this one. Darcy here is a second neglected son who chooses the church - so whatever pride and prejudice he had in canon is thoroughly worked out of him long before they meet. Elizabeth is not a Bennet (a Bennet orphaned cousin) so she too is changed and also much better educated. All the drama comes from external sources with a bit of a mystery element (but not enough to be off putting for me because I tend not to like mysteries).
