"Room Serviced" by Roxie Noir is a novella full of delicious spice and hilarious banter and bickering! Max and Sloane were old high school chums. Sloane is going to guest star on Max's successful ghost-hunting YouTube channel despite being a massive skeptic. The old Hotel Bellwether invites Max to record some videos there, so he invites Sloane along for the ghostly ride. They agree to have a fling-a-ding weekend together while they debate apparitions, a fling that will end once the cameras shut off. I think Max and Sloane have perfect chemistry with one another. Their disagreements about spirits lead to some very funny exchanges, ones that made me laugh out loud. The Lord Byron slander!!!! This is all juxtaposed with a "spooky" but romantic weekend where they get to know each other better as adults as they hunt. There is even quite a bit of tension built up in such a short time period! This is a fast-paced, spicy story, so you'll finish it in no time and definitely want more!

This is a delightfully steamy, funny frenemies-to-lovers novella from the terrific Roxie Noir.
At yet another wedding of their overlapping friend groups, city worker by day and cryptid “expert” online Max bets scientist and skeptic Sloane that depending upon which pair of their friends marries next, she’d have to accompany him on his next ghost hunting adventure. Their fact-finding mission turns physical as they spend a weekend exploring passageways and walled-off attics. While they’ve enjoyed each other’s company immensely, there’s about a ten-hour geographical distance between them, so it’s chalked up to a lost weekend.
Max, however, awkwardly invites Sloane to stay with him in NorCal on the way to their respective Thanksgiving obligations. Can they work through the logistics for something more than semi-annual casual hookups?

Max Golding wants to capture a ghost on video,so when Hotel Bellwether invites him there,he thinks Sloane,his best friend need some fun and come along with him.Sloane Vanzetti have plenty of fun,dragging herself along with Max to catch a ghost is not it,but the no strings attached bed fun is something she can't say no to.
Will the end up just friends?
It was a quick from friends to lovers read.Both characters knew each other but never tried anything,and now the sparks fly.I enjoyed it,romance with a lot of spice,whish only there would be more to keep my interest.I was waiting for something big to happen that would nicely tied the story,but this book was just romance with a spice.That being said plenty of ghosts and tension between Sloane and Max give me a good and quick read.

This is my fourth time reading from Roxie noir and again I really liked it! I gladly read this one in a single sitting!
What stands out in her romance books to me, is how she writes characters. They always have so much personality, wit, and great banter! I genuinely giggle and laugh along with some of the jokes. It’s just so much fun and you can feel the chemistry between her characters.
Personally I found there to be a little too much spice for a little novella, but I loved that we focused a lot on the emotional connection too!! The last 40% or so was absolutely delightful to read!!
All in all another enjoyable and heartwarming read! I’m so lucky to have found a romance author that delivers great books again and again!

Everything started with the invite Max Golding has received, to stay at Hotel Bellwether, where he could capture on film that hunted place. He didn't go alone, because he invited Sloane Vanzetti, for whom he had a huge crush. What could it go wrong in that situation? They definitely didn't think that it will transform into a fling, which will be over after they'll leave that place. But will they be able to just leave everything behind and ignore all those feelings that remained in their hearts?
This was a quick read, having less than 200 pages. It was interesting to follow Max and Sloane on their journey while hunting ghosts in that hotel, having some suspenseful moments, some a little bit scary and full of mystery which made me intrigued about this story and that place. But that came with them being in close proximity, which resulted in an extremely tensioned connection between them and a constant banter which was fun to follow. It wasn't quite a story which completely stole my attention, but it would be nice choice for when you wanna read something quick and have a good time while getting lost in a book.
This book is part of a mini series called Hotel Bellwether, which consists of 4 other books by different authors. They are interconnected, but can be read as standalones.

Upon loosing a bet, Sloane Vanzetti joins her long time friend ghost hunter Max Golding on a stay at a famously haunted and romantic hotel, Hotel Bellweather. Max hopes to capture proof of the supernatural, and finally win over skeptical Sloane, while Sloane is only interested in keeping things casual and fun.
Think “people we meet on vacation” meets ghost hunting.
With this being a novella, I honestly don’t have a huge amount to say about it other than it’s is a really fun, quick read full of flirty banter and some proper “laugh out loud” moments.
I really liked the ghost hunting aspect, it was at times ridiculous but made for a really fun story. I also really enjoyed the banter between Sloane and Max, although I felt like if the story had been longer, we could have had a bit more tension build up before they get together, and during the post-trip scenes (but that has to be expected it with a novella).
Thank you to the authors for the ARC - I’m excited to read the future books in this series!

This was a good little novella! But also.. All of the things that made it charming and unique weren't explored enough.
As many have said, there was some really good banter between our MCs, Max and Sloane. Did it occasionally tip into the annoying category? Also yes. Overall though, I really enjoyed their banter and chemistry. The spice was really good honestly. Everything else? Weird. That's the only word coming to mind to describe it. The plot was simultaneously all over the place and also no where. What was the plot exactly?
Also yea, I needed more angst or something. More plot, maybe.
So, this was cute, this was good, the spice was good, but I also won't claim it to be a must read.
I don't really care about continue this mixed-author series, BUT I am interested in reading more by this particular author and giving her a chance with a full-length story. So a win for Roxie, I'd say!

Big fan of Max. Otherwise, this started a little slow and aligned more with a hookup than a relationship, but it ironed out alright in the end. Fun, short, sweet, hot.

This novella was nice enough, and I liked the characters, but there wasn’t enough (any?) conflict or angst to keep my attention. I hate too much angst, but I think there needs to be *something* for the couple to resolve or overcome in a successful story. I love the other Roxie Noir books I’ve read, but this one wasn’t for me.

Anything Roxie Noir writes is a delight and ROOM SERVICED is no exception. We follow Max and Sloane on their strictly professional *wink* ghost hunting endeavor at Hotel Bellwether and it's the perfect mix of fun, flirty banter, heartfelt conversations, and chemistry that you'd expect from Roxie Noir. This was such a fun, low-angst story and it was just what I needed to hold me over until the next book in her Wildwood Society series drops. It was also extra special for me because it was set in my hometown! I always love seeing San Diego represented.

This was a good time! Ghost hunting, a haunted hotel, lots of flirting, and two characters who clearly had a thing for each other from the start.
Quick, fun, and exactly what I was in the mood for, and ended up wishing it was a little longer! Definitely interested in reading more from this series. 👻🩷

Leí esta historia como una copia anticipada de la autora (ARC)
Quien creería que un hotel embrujado sería el escenario perfecto para una historia de amor. Pero siento que para la historia de Max (un cazafantasmas) y Sloane (su amiga, una escéptica de corazón) era el empujón necesario para dos noches donde la tensión que se siente, y que logra atravesar las paginas, no es de la que te hiela la sangre, sino por el contrario, es una tensión ardiente❤️🔥.
Y es necesario aclarar que está es una historia de ROMANCE con algunas gotitas muy chiquititas de paranormal, porque sí fue algo que me lleve como sorpresa porque esperaba que tuviera un poco más de peso el ámbito paranormal, pero no me quejo, siento que este tipo de historias hacen brillar la pluma clásica de Roxie Noir, que siempre logra crear el dúo dinámico perfecto, la pareja ideal que pesar de ser como el agua y el aceite, logran funcionar de alguna manera.
Sí tengo que admitir que al principio estaba chocando con Sloane porque yo soy una persona MUY creyente en lo paranormal, y ella al ser una escéptica trataba de buscarle la razón lógica detrás de las cosas, lo cual tiene sentido que actúe así, tu no vas a hacer creyente a un escéptico tan fácil, tendría que venir el mismísimo fantasma y presentarse para que ellos creyeran, entonces a pesar de que su cuestionamientos chocaban conmigo eran muy lógicos para su personaje. Lo cual aplaudo, porque que un personaje choque con tus creencias, no necesariamente lo hace un mal personaje. Para mi un buen personaje es aquel que te hace sentir cosas y cobra vida más allá del papel y eso logró Roxie con Sloane.
Room serviced es una historia entretenida, y bastante corta, por lo que pude terminarla en cuestión de 2 a 3 días, porque la andaba disfrutando tanto que no quería acabarla tan pronto. Siento que al ser tan corta la hace la historia ideal si buscan un libro para el fin de semana, para terminarlo incluso el mismo día. Únicamente me queda recordarles que Room Serviced será públicado el 5 de Junio.

Who would’ve thought that a haunted hotel would be the perfect place for a love story, but I feel that for Max’s (a ghost hunter) and Sloane’s (his friend and an sceptic) story was the perfect push for two nights where the tension that filled the place and came through the pages, was not a tension that could freez your blood, on the contrary, was a burning tension ❤️🔥.
I have to clarify that this is a ROMANTIC story, with some tiny bits of paranormal, because that’s something that was a surprise for me. I was expecting the book to be a little bit more heavy on the paranormal aspect, but I’m not complaining, I believe this kind of story makes Roxi Noir’s writing shine brightly. She have the ability to create the perfect dynamic duo, the ideal couple even though they are like water and oil.
I have to admit that at the beginning I was having trouble with Sloane, because I’m a person who REALLY believes in paranormal, and she, being an sceptic, was trying to find the logical explanation. On her character makes sense, it’s not easy to make an sceptic to believe, you would have to bring the ghost to them to make them believe. That’s something I admire on Roxie’s book. A character who clashes with your beliefs, it’s not a bad character. For me a good character it’s the one who makes you feel things and becomes alive beyond the pages.
Room Serviced is an entreating and really short story, that’s why I was able to finish it in 2 to 3 days, only because I was really enjoying it, that I wasn’t in a rush. I think that being that short makes it perfect for the weekend, you can even finish it in a day.
Lastly I just have to remind you that Room Serviced will be publish on June 5th.

I had so much fun reading this novella! I’ve been looking for a solid, open-door romcom with good banter and sexual tension, and Roxie Noir delivered with Room Serviced. The first chapter got me hooked—Sloane and Max may find each other annoying at times, but they secretly love the arguing and bickering over semantics and science and reality. I was so excited to get to read this one early (thank you to Roxie Noir for the ARC!).
Sloane and Max and their arguing as foreplay had me laughing and kicking my feet and enjoying myself. Their witty responses and silly puns are endearing and hilarious, and it’s clear they love their verbal sparring and find that they love each other’s company. They’ve been in that casual friend sort of acquaintance since high school, but after meeting again at a mutual friends’ wedding back in their hometown of Last Chance, they end up making a low stakes bet that Sloane (ever the skeptic when it comes to ghosts and the supernatural) will accompany Max on a ghost hunting trip for his side hustle as a YouTuber if she loses. Obviously, for this story to happen, she loses, and shenanigans ensue at the Hotel Bellwether.
I loved the little tidbits about the hotel’s history, from its eccentric and mysterious original owner, Belle, to the weird architecture and themed bars and restaurants, the poison garden, and the portraits that Max and Sloane play fuck marry kill with. It’s so charming and a little weird and fun, and it adds to the overall charm of the romcom itself. Max and Sloane are clearly attracted to each other from the get-go, and the ghost hunting trip makes for a unique setting for bonding and flirting.
Sloane’s awkwardness is so relatable, and Max freaking out over maybe liking his ghost hunting trip companion is adorable. The way they realize they actually have fun spending time with each other and like how the other person annoys them or makes them laugh made me smile so much. The sexual tension and buildup was well done, and I wanted to keep reading their banter and flirting even past the ending (sad that good things must come to an end). I think this was pretty well balanced in terms of flirting, getting to know each other, and physical intimacy, especially given the limited page count of a novella, and I’m intrigued enough to want to try at least some of the other novellas by other authors in this series.
I gotta bump up some other Roxie Noir books I’ve had on my TBR for a while after this one!
Sloane and Max and their arguing as foreplay had me laughing and kicking my feet and enjoying myself. Their witty responses and silly puns are endearing and hilarious, and it’s clear they love their verbal sparring and find that they love each other’s company. They’ve been in that casual friend sort of acquaintance since high school, but after meeting again at a mutual friends’ wedding back in their hometown of Last Chance, they end up making a low stakes bet that Sloane (ever the skeptic when it comes to ghosts and the supernatural) will accompany Max on a ghost hunting trip for his side hustle as a YouTuber if she loses. Obviously, for this story to happen, she loses, and shenanigans ensue at the Hotel Bellwether.
I loved the little tidbits about the hotel’s history, from its eccentric and mysterious original owner, Belle, to the weird architecture and themed bars and restaurants, the poison garden, and the portraits that Max and Sloane play fuck marry kill with. It’s so charming and a little weird and fun, and it adds to the overall charm of the romcom itself. I really enjoyed this story! I’ve been reading Roxie Noir’s books for awhile now and I really love that her writing seamlessly weaves in core elements like enthusiastic consent, respect and witty banter between romantic partners. Despite being a novella, Room Serviced still gives us enough character development to really get invested in how exactly the result of their bet is going to play out. I was SO happily surprised to find that it doesn’t just end right after the initial hotel/mystery story arc finishes (which would have been totally understandable for a shorter novel like this). Instead, you get to watch these characters continue to navigate their relationship across multiple settings. I hate it when a book is getting close to the end and there doesn’t seem to be enough time left to tie up all the plot points. With Room Serviced, I knew the hotel stay was coming to an end and fully expected it to either fast track a wrap up or end at a stunted place. Realizing that there was still a good chunk of the book left felt like the literary equivalent of curling up in a cozy blanket with a chocolate bar.
The spicy scenes all felt natural within the storyline and I like that they included little pauses to deal with an occasional clothing malfunction or situational hiccup - it made them more realistic/believable without detracting from the heat of the moment (which is a very difficult balance to achieve). I also have to give Roxie Noir lots of credit for including a character who is bisexual. Representation matters and normalizing the fact that there are a variety of sexual preferences by naturally centralizing it without making it feel like it an add-on focal point is also a beautiful balance that I wish was present in more romance novels. I was given a free, early copy of this book to review and I’m delighted to say that I loved it! I’d happily read more about their ghost-hunting adventures because the dynamics between these two characters makes for such a great combination of lighthearted and intense moments.

When Sloane loses she has to be Max’s assistant on his next ghost hunting trip. And while Max still wants to prove the paranormal, he also hopes to help Sloane let loose and have fun…with him. Sloane isn’t one to back down from a bet and if something happens between her and Max…so be it.
As their time in the possibly haunted hotel progresses, so does the chemistry between these two. These two are magic together. Sloane, while grounded, still brings out a side of Max no one else can. Max does the same for Sloane. Allowing her to let go of everyday stress, Sloane is able to enjoy just being in the moment and Max’s arms.
While a shorter book, it still brings everything you expect from Roxie and her writing talents. You will swoon, laugh, squeal, and maybe even tear up (I did) when reading this and any book written by her. I am obsessed with both Max and Sloane and I suddenly feel the need to go to California, hunt for cryptids, have tacos, get tipsy, and make out.
Max and Sloane are high school acquaintances who have become closer through years of mutual friend weddings in their 20s. After too many drinks at one such wedding, they make a bet that results in Sloane being Max’s assistant for his next cryptid hunting video on his YouTube channel. Spending the weekend in a supposed haunted house gets both their heart-rates up, but not because of any ghosts!
Oh my stars. Roxie’s got it all in this book: the banter, the chemistry, the sizzling spicy scenes, the character development, the setting of a gothic resort with literary undertones. I was all in from page one. Max might be the sexiest Roxie Noir guy yet, and Sloane is sizzling in every scene. I can’t decide if I want to be her or date her and that is the sweetest character conundrum to have! Roxie weaves this story so deftly that I was so completely in this world that I was confused when I finished; what do you mean I’m not in Last Chance talking about Mothman around a fire but am still in my house with this pile of unfolded laundry? I want all the places in this book to be real, and, much like cryptid hunting, prefer to imagine they might be real than face any sort of hard evidence to the contrary.
Roxie’s books make me laugh, swoon, sizzle, and tear up a little. Every. Dang. Time. Room Serviced is a fast and fabulous read that will send shivers up your spine. In the best possible way.

Room Serviced serves as an introductory installment in the Hotel Bellwether novella series, packing a high-intensity romance into a fast-paced, condensed layout. The story takes place against the luxurious and structured backdrop of a high-end resort, where professional boundaries immediately clash with an intense, lingering mutual attraction. Because of the shorter novella format, the narrative dives straight into the physical and emotional tension between the main leads, utilizing close-quarters interactions to force their underlying feelings to the surface very quickly.
The Good
The setting is beautifully established, capturing a wonderful, escapist luxury hotel atmosphere that sets a fantastic stage for a contemporary romance. The dialogue moves quickly, the initial setup holds a lot of promise, and the overall pacing delivers a very quick, low-commitment reading experience that is easy to flip through in a single sitting.
The Not So Good
So I didn't really feel it. Sorry. Because everything moves so rapidly within the condensed page count, the deeper emotional development felt a bit secondary to the immediate physical chemistry. I do hope the next novellas in this series are a bit more... "connectable" so that the relationships have a bit more room to breathe and settle

Max and Sloane are hunting ghosts or at least investigating the existence of ones at a famous haunted Hotel Bellwethera. Max has a YouTube channel and he's been invited to host these haunting's on his channel and he invites Sloane along with him, not only so she has some fun, but she is more of a debunker and prefers to see the reality in the world. He loves her take on ghosts and knows his channel will love it too. Sloane doesn't hold back and her feisty spirit is why Max is drawn to her too.
These two had chemistry, there is no doubt about it. I will admit, I didn't quite understand a lot of what they were doing at the hotel, or what their actual history was, like exactly why they were rivals, but this is a novella...so I let a lot of the background slide since there is only so much time and space to add information, if that makes sense. All in all, what was on the page, the actual ghost hunting where Max is trying to be a professional and Sloane would debunk everything was cute. It was definitely how they flirted with one another which amped up the chemistry between them. Did it make a lick of sense to me...not one bit, but I'm not into ghost hunting so it didn't matter to me and definitely wasn't why I picked up this book. If this is why you picked up this book, I have zero intel you tell you about it. I'm sorry.

This was a book that I was totally looking forward to reading, and now I'm super thankful for getting to read this preview copy. I've been a fan of Roxie for a couple of years now and I just love how her lead characters always have a playful, fun and sassy banter.
What I really liked was how quick and easy this was to read. It was just full of so much fun back and forth. Max and Sloane are a duo that I would love to read again. It's got your tropes that we all like betting, friends to lovers, close quarter situations, And it wouldn't be a Roxie read without great spicy scenes. Room Serviced did not disappoint In the spice column. I like the location of them trying to do some ghost busting in a fancy hotel. Which gave me vibes of somewhere between The Winchester Mystery House and the Hotel Coronado.
Another thing I really loved was the idea of Max and Sloane coming from a small town in northern California, I myself is a former small town northern California resident for many,many years. And now being a Southern California transplant for 20 years It made me giggle a bit and think about all of my hometown visits I used to make on the long trek of up and down on the I-5.

Room Serviced was a fun start to the Hotel Bellwether series. Max and Sloane have known each other for years, but it takes a ghost-hunting weekend at the famously haunted Hotel Bellwether (after a bet) to finally push them beyond friendship. Max loves chasing ghosts and paranormal activity, while Sloane approaches everything from a logical point of view and always looks for a rational explanation. Their opposing views create highly intellectual banter and conversations that feel witty and surprisingly sophisticated. Those exchanges were just as entertaining as their growing attraction, and their chemistry was obvious from the start.
I loved both characters. Max's enthusiasm for ghost hunting balanced perfectly with Sloane's practical outlook. Their flirting felt effortless, and translated into some seriously steamy moments.

With this series opener, Roxie Noir has crafted a fun read that had me laughing time and again. The witty verbal sparring and banter between the two endearing protagonists and the slightly farcical situations were hilarious. It’s an opposites attract, close proximity, vacation fling to forever romance- packed with a touch of mystery, LOL moments and spice.
Max is a charming, carefree professional vlogger who specializes in paranormal activity, and Sloane is a down-to-earth businesswoman with an analytical mind who needs scientific proof. Naturally, they clash in a humorous way. I really loved the chemistry and the contrast between them.

Absolutely zero notes. This was phenomenal just like everything Roxie Noir writes 🔥
I was OBSESSED with this novella and wanted SO MUCH MORE MAX & SLOANE!!!!!!! How do you take 200 pages and make a deep emotional and physical connection?? This felt so real, so well paced, and so incredibly perfect start to finish I am so thankful for the chance to read this one early.

I was OBSESSED with this novella and wanted SO MUCH MORE MAX & SLOANE!!!!!!! How do you take 200 pages and make a deep emotional and physical connection?? This felt so real, so well paced, and so incredibly perfect start to finish I am so thankful for the chance to read this one early.

Look, it was a fun read and please consider it super positive but yet 3 stars.
It’s super low stakes, low drama type of romance and while it was okay, there wasn’t anything to make me excited.
There was a lot of ghosts (etc) talk and I was very indifferent to it.
This book was marketed with tropes “arguing as foreplay” and “foreplay as foreplay” and I guess I was just expecting more in this regard. While they had some banter, it was rather playful arguing rather than a strong banter. Again: simply okay but nothing to get me super excited.
I would call them frenemies to lovers and I liked how they went with their relationship after the weekend trip. The last 20-15% was finally what got me interested, when they stopped all the ghost talk 😅.
I enjoyed it enough to keep Roxie on my TBR, but I fear this might be my least fav of this series.
If you crave low drama romance or are here for the ghost hunting, this might be 4 or 5 stars read for you.
Also: this book is written in 3rd person narration which I’m not a fan of. It didn’t bother me much but again it was something stopping my excitement levels.
