Where We Belong: A Warmhearted, Uplifting Romance Big Dune Island Book 3 by Savannah Carlisle
In this cozy and uplifting tale, Chloe Beckett finds herself at a crossroads as she strives to expand her beloved coffee shop, Island Coffee. As a part-owner, she has always tried to make it a thriving hub for the community. Now, she's taken a brave step to apply for a spot on the reality show "The Next Great American Entrepreneur." With aspirations to buy out her brother, who is her current business partner, and to open a second location with the help of a close friend, Chloe is fueled by her passion for serving delicious coffee and creating a welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels at home.
Set against the idyllic backdrop of Big Dune Island, filled with bright sunshine and warm hospitality, the story captures the essence of small-town life. As Chloe navigates the intense competition, she relies on her steadfast friends and the supportive residents of Big Dune Island, along with her growing connection to Michael Russo, a profits-first investment developer.
Michael, initially driven by financial success and corporate ambition, finds his worldview challenged by the charm and warmth of island life. Interacting with the locals and witnessing Chloe’s dedication to her community forces him to reevaluate his priorities. Throughout the competition, Michael slowly begins to understand the deeper significance of relationships and meaningful connections, learning that there is much more to life than mere profits.
Chloe and Michael's chemistry unfolds gently, built on a foundation of tender moments and shared glances. Their relationship blossoms gradually, as they discover how much they complement each other. Chloe’s unwavering belief in community and her desire to make her café not just a business but a gathering place resonate deeply with Michael, revealing a softer side that contrasts with his typical big-city persona.
While the romance in the story develops at a pace that is slower than I usually prefer, this leisurely exploration allows readers to dive deeper into Chloe’s character. In previous books, she had been painted in broader strokes, but now we see her complexity, aspirations, and vulnerabilities in greater detail. Similarly, the author has provided a chance to witness Michael evolve beyond his image as a cutthroat developer, transforming into someone who values community and connection.
Overall, "Where We Belong" is a heartwarming story that celebrates the importance of friendship, community, and the realisation that chasing one’s dreams can lead to unexpected and fulfilling partnerships.
Big Dune Island is one of my favorite fictional worlds to escape to.
Savannah Carlisle has a gift for transporting readers straight into the heart of this charming small town. Big Dune Island feels like a mental vacation: deeply immersive, rooted in community, and filled with sunshine, warmth, and all the happiest small-town vibes.
Book three in the Big Dune Island series brings us a sweet opposites-attract, age-gap romance that completely stole my heart.
Chloe Beckett is determined to prove to her family (and the entire town) that she is no longer the little girl they’ve always known, but a serious business owner chasing her dream. Michael has always been a profits-first investment developer, but island life and the people of Big Dune Island slowly begin to challenge everything he thought he knew about business, ambition, and what truly matters. Chloe and Michael balance each other beautifully, and watching their relationship grow felt so full of warmth and joy. Chloe’s larger-than-life personality is impossible not to love, and seeing her journey from someone who questioned herself and her place in the world into someone confident in her dream tugged on more than a few heartstrings.
I also loved seeing a different side of Michael beyond the big-city developer we first met in book one. His family and their dynamics add so much depth and humor to the story, making the world feel even richer and the story all the more endearing.
The reality show aspect is so well written and engaging, it felt like I was watching the episodes unfold live. Completely invested, yelling at the judges and reacting to every moment like I was sitting on the couch with popcorn 😂. That’s the magic of Savannah Carlisle’s storytelling. She builds the kind of deeply immersive world that makes you forget you’re reading and start reacting like you’re right there.
One of my favorite things about this series (beyond the idyllic setting), is how seamlessly all the characters weave in and out of each book. After spending so much time in this world, these characters genuinely begin to feel like family.
Where We Belong is a soul-stirring story about a love that balances, the strength found in community, and the deep joy of discovering the place #wherewebelong. At its heart lies a quietly powerful message: staying true to yourself often grows into something far bigger than you ever imagined, guiding you exactly to where you were always meant to be.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC copy. All thoughts are my own.
I received an advance reader copy of Where We Belong by Savannah Carlisle in exchange for an honest review, and it was exactly the warm, uplifting escape I needed. This is my first book by Carlisle, even though it’s the third in the Big Dune Island series—and I’m thrilled to report it reads beautifully as a standalone. No prior knowledge of the other books required!
At its heart, this is a heartfelt slow-burn romance between two polar opposites who somehow bring out the very best in each other. I found myself fully invested in Chloe from page one—she’s the ultimate underdog entrepreneur, and as someone who runs my own business, I was cheering for her every step of the way. Michael is the perfect opposite interest: steady, successful, and supportive in ways that feel so real- he oversteps, but with good intentions, something I think we could all relate to. Their chemistry builds gradually, with those delicious moments of tension and missed opportunities that left actual butterflies in my stomach.
What truly makes the book shine is the cozy, feel-good atmosphere of Big Dune Island. The tight-knit community, the warm welcomes, and the sense of belonging are so vividly drawn that I genuinely wanted to pack a bag and visit. The characters feel like real people—flawed, well-intentioned, sometimes overstepping, but always redeemable. Families care deeply but get in their own way; everyone has both strengths and human imperfections. It’s the kind of story that mirrors real life in the best possible way while still delivering pure escapism.
Perfectly paced, never rushed or dragging, this was the ideal cozy read for my busy schedule—something I could pick up during downtime and immediately feel lighter. I loved every page and closed the book smiling, already planning to go back and read the first two in the series so I can spend more time with these wonderful characters. 5/5 stars—highly recommend for anyone who loves small-town romances with heart, hope, and just the right amount of slow-burn swoon.
I totally and completely loved everything about Where We Belong!! This is the third book in Carlisle's Big Dune series and I can without a doubt say this one is my absolute favorite! This book carefully crafts the perfect romance story that will touch your heart and make you feel all the emotions.
Where We Belong follows Chloe Beckett as she participates in a reality tv series for entrepreneurs in hopes of gaining recognition for Island Coffee, her cafe on Big Dune Island. Throughout the competition, Chloe finds support through her friends, the residents of Big Dune Island, and Micheal. Michael is a business developer and he also happens to be the best friend/business partner of Chloe's brother, Austin. As Chloe progresses into each round, she learns more about herself and what she treasures most about her cafe. Will her vision align with what the judges are looking for and be enough to help her become The Next Great American Entrepreneur? Will her vision and business model help transform Michael's views on what really defines a successful project? The parallel between what Chloe and Michael are experiencing brings them together and helps them form a special friendship built on support and guidance, but could there be more to what is happening between them?
Where We Belong is such an incredibly special story. There are so many moments that create a close connection to the characters through their challenges and experiences. This connection makes the story even more special. Carlisle has also brought in a villain for this story which added another wonderful layer to the story development. Honestly, when I say I loved everything about this story, I truly mean it. I cannot recommend this book enough. Where We Belong will take you on a mental vacation to a beautiful small beach town where you will find the most perfect cafe and the most special residents.
Thank you so much to Savannah Carlisle for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Where We Belong.
ARC Review Where We Belong by Savannah Carlisle ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Available Now!
Returning to Big Dune Island feels like stepping into a sun-soaked getaway, and Where We Belong delivers that cozy, small-town charm in the best way. This third installment is easily my favorite in the series, blending heart, community, and romance into a story that feels both uplifting and immersive.
At the center is Chloe Beckett, a passionate café owner determined to step out of her brother’s shadow and prove herself as a capable businesswoman. When she joins a reality TV competition for entrepreneurs, she’s forced to balance her vision for her beloved café with the pressure to succeed in a high-stakes environment. Watching her grow from self-doubt to confidence is both inspiring and heartwarming.
Michael, a profit-driven developer and her brother’s best friend, provides the perfect contrast. His perspective on success is challenged by both Chloe and the close-knit island community, leading to meaningful growth that adds depth to his character. Their relationship develops naturally from friendship into something more, making the slow-burn, age-gap romance especially satisfying.
One of the standout elements is the reality show storyline, which is engaging without overshadowing the heart of the book. It feels dynamic and well paced, while still allowing space for the warmth of Big Dune Island and its incredible sense of found family to shine. The community truly feels like a character of its own, rallying around Chloe in a way that’s both comforting and genuine.
With its charming setting, lovable characters, and feel-good romance, Where We Belong is perfect for readers who enjoy friends to lovers, opposites attract dynamics, light age-gap romance, and stories rich in community and heart. It’s a warm, emotional escape that leaves you wishing you could visit Big Dune Island yourself.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC copy. All thoughts are my own.
Where We Belong is the kind of story that feels like stepping into a warm kitchen on a breezy coastal morning—comforting, familiar, and quietly full of hope. Chloe Beckett has spent her life believing in the small, steadfast magic of community, and the novel captures that beautifully. Island Coffee isn’t just a café; it’s a living, breathing gathering place, stitched together with mismatched china, shared rituals, and the kind of everyday kindness that lingers long after closing time.
Chloe’s journey is especially endearing because it’s rooted in something so relatable: the desire to finally be seen for who she is, not who she’s related to. Her decision to compete on a reality TV show feels both brave and deeply personal, a chance to prove—to herself most of all—that her dreams deserve space. The contrast between her grounded, heart-first approach and the slick, curated world of influencers and business strategists adds a lovely tension without ever losing the book’s gentle tone.
Michael Russo is a perfect foil: polished, practical, and quietly adrift in his own way. Watching Chloe pull him into the island’s slower rhythm—where success is measured in connection rather than profit—gives their romance a soft, slow-blooming charm. Their chemistry is tender rather than flashy, built on small moments, shared glances, and the gradual realisation that they bring out the best in each other.
The island setting adds a layer of beachy warmth, and the story’s heart lies in its celebration of community: the people who show up, the traditions that anchor us, and the courage it takes to build something meaningful with your own two hands. It’s a gentle, uplifting read—perfect for anyone who loves coastal charm, second chances, and romances that feel like home.
With thanks to Savannah Carlisle, the publisher and netgalley for the ARC
This novel explores a topic that is sorely lacking and yet deeply yearned for in our culture – a sense of belonging. Through the storyline of a young woman creating a welcoming space in her community the author leads the reader in a remarkable journey that touches on romance, authenticity, respect for tradition, and transformation.
Chloe Beckett is the proprietor of the Island Coffee café located on a small island off the coast of Florida. Through her vision and her love of the residents, she has created a unique gathering spot that is now the heart of a revitalized downtown. Chloe has accomplished this with the financial backing of her brother and now desires to be able to buy him out to establish her independence as the owner of a successful business. To do this, she has applied to participate in a reality show for entrepreneurs.
The story unfolds as she participates in the weekly challenges which assess her abilities to grow in business acumen while remaining true to her values and her vision. In the process, Chloe realizes she can receive advice from a family friend and recommendations from the judges, but ultimately the choices are hers to make. Is she willing to honor her vision at the risk of losing the competition?
I enjoyed following Chloe’s hard-won journey as well as the supporting characters that added dimension to the storyline – especially the slow-developing romance with Michael, the family friend. My one criticism is that there was an unnecessary amount of repetition about her above-mentioned dilemma. The conclusion is both uplifting and supportive of honoring the soul of a business as well as the bottom line.
My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This review will be posted on Amazon upon publication.
I adore Chloe and Michael’s story in this return to Big Dune Island. Chloe is the owner of Island Coffee and even with its success she feels like people see her as Austin’s little sister and don’t see the success as hers. In order to prove herself she auditions for a reality tv show and finds that she needs to decide if her vision and idea of success is enough. Michael has been all about profit but the more time he spends on Big Dune Island and with Chloe the more he begins to discover that money isn’t the only measure of success. Together they discover that they can realize a dream of success all their own.
This is a beautiful story of community, connections, and realizing that you and your dreams are more than enough. The romance is sweet and fills my heart with joy. This is book three in the series and can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend taking a mental vacation and reading all of the books
Chloe, Michael, and all of the characters are people that I want to be friends with. I want to visit Big Dune Island and hang out at Island Coffee, it sounds like an amazing spot. The connection to the community that Chloe has created with the family china and recipes makes my heart smile.
I highly recommend this sweet story filled with family, community, and following your own path.
Thanks to the author for the gifted copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I truly have no notes on Where We Belong, so I’m just going to tell you everything I loved about it!!
First off, we meet Chloe and Michael in the first book of the Big Dune Island series, where Chloe is kind of known as the gossip and Austin’s little sister. I absolutely loved watching her grow into so much more than that. Seeing her become a pillar of the community instead of being viewed in a negative light was so satisfying. And I especially loved how her “gossip” tendencies turned into something beautiful — her chattiness made people feel seen, welcomed, and genuinely loved in her coffee shop.
The main setting is Big Dune Island, but Chloe is also competing on a reality TV show. Sometimes I’m wary of reality TV plots because it can feel like the show is the only thing happening. But this book balanced it perfectly. We get the behind-the-scenes filming moments, but we also get their real lives unfolding at the same time. It never felt one-dimensional. And I really enjoyed the NYC chapters too!
Two words: baking. lessons. 🧁🥐🍰🥧
The found family in this series is truly top tier. Watching the community rally around Chloe during this season of her life just made my heart so full.
And last but absolutely not least… Michael. What a precious human. He’s a family man, a protector, and Chloe’s biggest supporter. I LOVED seeing him interact with his family, and especially watching his growth — both personally and professionally.
perfect if you love: 💕 friends to lovers ☕️ age gap (ten years) 📺 reality tv for entrepreneurs 🧲 opposites attract 💋no spice
Where We Belong, the 3rd book in the Big Dunn Island series, was a breath of fresh air and exactly the mental vacation my heavy heart was needing. A cozy, feel-good, pull on your heartstrings small town romance that is full of clean witty banter, nostalgia, hope, passion, southern charm, and a nod to a simpler time in life as we are brought back to our family roots.
I adored the women owned small business rep and the focus on community, belonging, support, connections, traditions, and preserving stories and keeping our legacy and memories alive through the use of loved one's vintage china dishes and recipes. As always, the small town beach setting is dreamy, the plot is entertaining and well thought out, and the characters are well developed, including all the lovable side characters that help drive the plot. I loved the emphasis on personal and career growth.
I’ve had the opportunity to be on Savannah’s street team for the Big Dunn Island series, plus Christmas at Pine Ridge Inn, and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. When you can’t escape the real world, it’s always nice to take a mental vacation to Big Dunn Island to restore your faith in humanity. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Thank you Savannah Carlisle for the gifted ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ve been a fan of Carlisle’s work from the very beginning, and every time I open one of her books, I’m reminded exactly why she continues to be an auto read for me.
Some stories don’t chase success they redefine it, and Where We Belong does exactly that with so much warmth and heart. Set against the cozy, seaside charm of Big Dune Island, this book pulls you into Chloe’s world, where community is everything and Island Coffee feels like a character of its own. I loved how the story balances Chloe’s personal journey with the pressure of stepping out of her brother’s shadow, all while navigating a high stakes competition that challenges what success really means.
What stood out most to me was the book’s exploration of identity, ambition, and connection. Chloe’s growth felt genuine and relatable, especially as she learns to trust her own voice, while Michael’s perspective added a nice contrast between profit driven thinking and purpose driven living. The romance was soft and slow building, but the real heart of the story lies in its celebration of community and belonging. It’s a feel good, thoughtful read that reminds you that success isn’t always about going bigger…. it’s about building something meaningful.
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eARC! ☕🌊✨
Chloe Beckett has always believed that community matters more than corporate strategy- but proving it on national TV is another story.
Competing for a cash prize that could expand her beloved island cafe, Chloe faces off against polished MBAs and influencer darlings. The only person who can help her? Michael Russo, the New York investor she’s secretly loved for years.
What starts as a strategy partnership quickly turns into something neither of them planned, especially when Chloe’s hashtag #WhereWeBelong captures the heart of America.
I’ve loved every book by the author and this book is no exception. Where We Belong is the perfect beachy small-town romance. The authors vivid descriptions of the Island Coffee Cafe sets the scene for the heart of the Big Dune Island community. Chloe Beckett is the perfect heroine refusing to change and staying true to herself no matter the outcome. I found Michael Russo to be quite intriguing and loved watching his beliefs challenged by Chloe. Where we Belong is a sweet, uplifting romance with great characters, a wonderful storyline about community and the perfect setting. The cover of the book was chef’s kiss. Highly recommend adding to your TBR.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Cozy, small town romances with strong community vibes. Set in Big Dune Island, the story follows Chole Beckett the owner of a beloved local cafe who enters a reality competition in hoping to step out of her famous brother's shadow and potentially expand the business.
The cafe feels like a heart of the town full of connection, comfort and those little everyday moments that make a place feel like home.
Throughout the competition, Chloe finds support through her friends, the residents of Big Dune Island, and Michael. Michael is a business developer and he also happens to be the best friend/business partner of Chloe's brother, Austin. Michael has also requested Chole to consult on a project he's working on to give it that feel of what the neighborhood is. With each challenge she learns a little more about herself and her cafe, but will her vision align with what the judges are looking for allowing her to move up in ranks and potentially win The Next Great American Entrepreneur? The choice is only hers.
Overall it's a feel good romance about finding confidence, following your dreams and discovering that success isn't always measured by money but by the people and places that make life meaningful.
Thank you to the author for this ARC in exchange for my review
If this book does not inspire you, your inspiration meter is not working. Chloe Beckett was a true inspiration to everyone she encountered. I found myself cheering her on as if she was my own daughter or sister. I was fully invested in this story within a couple of chapters.
Chloe and Michael were perfect for one another. Chloe had shown him that community is important and although she was a serious business owner, she also believed in making a place where people felt at home. Michael has an astute business mind, and he knew how to turn a business into a lucrative investment. Suddenly he finds himself in unfamiliar territory as he looks at more the bottom line, as his heart is suddenly involved in his business decisions.
Treasure means more than monetary value. Heart and soul play a big part as well. The title Where We Belong takes on a new meaning as you get further into the book. It made me want to do something special to touch others. Once again this author has created a story and a cast of characters that will feel like friends as you read. It was hard to step back into reality after finishing this inspiring book.
Thank you to Harpeth Road and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
2 stars. DNF at 10%, but I started considering it at like, 5%. I just don't want to drop a book until I feel like I've given it a fair chance, so I always try to give at least 10%.
My biggest issue with this book is the writing. Even if a book has the best plot in the whole world, I still can't get into it unless it has good writing. I looked back at my Goodreads progress bar comments, and one comment literally said "idk why, but it's giving 'picture book for elementary school kids'". Not what I'm looking for in an adult romance novel. And no, it's not about the words actually being written... it's just the style? I can't quite describe it. Didn't work for me at all.
I don't know. I was just bored. I don't expect to connect with characters immediately upon opening a book, but even by 10%, I could honestly not have cared less about our characters.
Also, I'm sorry, it just felt ridiculous... like you're telling me a huge NYC RE firm is bringing in a consultant from bumfuck nowhere? It was kind of just insane and unrealistic, sorry.
Overall, not for me.
Thank you to NG, the publisher, and the author for the ARC.
After a long run of dark romances and high-heat reads, Where We Belong by Savannah Carlisle was exactly the mental vacation I needed. Though this is the third book in the Big Dune Island series, it works perfectly as a standalone, offering a cozy and tame atmosphere that feels like a warm cup of coffee.
The story follows Chloe Beckett as she steps out of her brother's shadow to compete in a reality TV show for her beloved café, Island Coffee. What makes this story stand out is Chloe’s growth—watching her transform from a perceived gossip into a formidable entrepreneur and community pillar is incredibly satisfying.
The romance with Michael Russo—her brother’s best friend and a New York investor—is a beautifully paced friends-to-lovers arc with a ten-year age gap. Their chemistry is built on mutual support and a subtle opposites attract dynamic that stays clean while remaining emotionally engaging. Between the baking lessons, the reality TV behind-the-scenes drama, and the top-tier found family on the island, the setting served as a perfect backdrop for Chloe's journey toward independence.
If you're looking for a heartwarming, low-stress read that focuses on community and self-discovery, Where We Belong is a solid 4-star win.
I received an ARC of this book to review honestly.
Chloe Beckett, a resident of Big Dune Island, shared a special bond with her grandmother, who instilled in her the value of family. Island Coffee, a beloved café on the island, serves as a favorite gathering place for the locals. When an opportunity arose, Chloe seized it and decided to compete on a reality TV show.
Recognizing that she if she wants to win, she is going to need some help. Chloe sought help from Michael Russo, a New York real estate investor. However, her hidden agenda of using this as an excuse to spend time with him was already proving to be her advantage.
“Where We Belong” by Savannah Carlisle is a heartwarming tale that explores themes of family, friendship, and pursuing one’s dreams. The plot twists and turns kept me engrossed, making it difficult to put the book down. It was an absolute delight and a fantastic addition to the Big Dune Island series. While this installment can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the entire series to fully appreciate the story. I’m certain you’ll love it as much as I do.
Title: Where We Belong By: Savannah Carlisle Pub date: March 24, 2026 Publisher: Harpeth Road Press
☕ A small-town coffee shop 📺 A high-stakes reality TV competition 💛 A hashtag that just might change everything
Chloe Beckett is determined to prove that community beats corporate strategy when she competes on a reality TV show where entrepreneurs are vying for a cash prize. With slick MBAs and social media influencers as her competition, she turns to her longtime crush, Michael Russo, for help, telling herself it’s just business.
But when #WhereWeBelong starts to go viral, Chloe isn’t the only one rethinking what success really means.
Where We Belong by @SavvyCarlisle is filled with beachy charm, slow-burn romance and the most adorable small town where friends feel like family. From the writing to the characters to the story, this book will have you hooked from the beginning! I could see this book made into a Hallmark Movie! A perfect read for your pool or beach bag!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Chloe, part owner of Island Coffee, applies for a role on an entrepreneur reality show. She's hoping to buy out her partner, who is her brother, and expand to another location run by a friend. The story follows her reality show journey as well as her budding relationship with a friend/mentor.
I hadn't read the prior books in the series, so I wasn't sure how some of the characters fit with each other. I didn't feel it took anything away from the story, though. I liked watching Chloe grow into a business owner not afraid to defend her own vision rather than cave to the social norms. The coffee shop, and her vision for others, including Perk Slope, sounds like a place I'd like to visit.
The story has a slow burn romance and did move along a bit slower than I like (the whole story, not just the romance part), but all in all it was a good book. I would read another by the author.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
This was a cute small town beach romance and is Book 3 in the Bog Dune Island series. Chloe Beckett runs a cute island cafe but since it was bankrolled by her brother, she decides to enter a reality competition with a big cash prize that she can use to pay her brother back. Michael Russo is a NY investor that has spent quite a bit of time on the island and in her cafe due to his investments on the island. Chloe has been in love with him for years but there is a big age gap; Michael is 10 years older. When she learns that she is a contestant on the reality show, she asks Michael for help and as they work to improve her chances of winning, they realize they are more than friends. This book had an interesting storyline and since I love reality TV series, this book was right up my alley. The book had also got me into the spring spirit! It was definitely an enjoyable read! Thank you to Savannah Carlisle for an advance copy of this book for review. The book will be released tomorrow, March 24th in paperback, ebook, and audiobook.
I loveee small town romances 🥹 and I’m such a fan of Big Dune Island.
The whole concept of this story captured me so much. Watching both of them find themselves and grow into better versions of who they were was honestly such a beautiful thing.
I’ve read Jesse and Callie’s story, so seeing Chloe’s maturity in this book?? I loved it. And this new and improved Michaelll>>> yeah… it really did something to my heart 🥹
And when Michael was showing her around New York?!! It was sooo cuteee 😭 But let’s talk about his unwavering belief in her and her business… to die for!! 🤭
Gosh, this book really took me for a ride. I actually wish Island Coffee was real because I want to go there and try those petite fours 😋
And The Next Great American Entrepreneur?? I was so invested, it genuinely felt like I was watching a game show. When it was time to reveal the winner, I was actually anxious 😂
Savannah did such a beautiful job with this book. It was immersive, emotional, and just such a lovely read 🥹🤍
I want an Island Coffee shop with an owner like Chloe. This shop and Big Dune Island are what every reader is silently wishing their own honetown were like - warm, inviting, inclusive.
Savannah Carlisle has created a beautiful story of finding yourself, and in the process, helping others belong. It isn't a loud proclomation. It is a beautiful one, with a story you want to continue. It is hope. It is joy. It is home.
This story is lovely and a joy to read, one you don't want to put down, you don't want it to stop. The writing is inviting you into the world and you want to live there.
Too many books rely on unsavory elements to be edgy and get people to read. This is stunningly beautiful, engaging without any of that nonsense. You will completely enjoy this story and want to read more of Savannah Carlisle's work. I know I do.
Wow. That is my honest reaction to finishing this book. When I signed up for this arc opportunity, I was expecting a cozy romance, which this book definitely was. However, it was also a lot more. Reading about Chloe truly finding herself and growing in who she was was truly an amazing experience. This is definitely a book with a lesson for all of us. The romance was sweet and Michael was extremely supportive of everything that Chloe was trying to accomplish. I love that he grew alongside her, and that they learned different things from each other. I also love how unique the plot was. It was exciting and at times nerve wracking, but also really rewarding. I loved Chloe and Brianna’s friendship and how Chloe interacted with all of the judges. I don’t have nearly enough words or time to say everything I want, but the main point is GO BUY THIS BOOK!
A lighthearted story full of small town charm. The reality TV show was such a fun concept. Enjoyed following Chloe compete on the show and seeing her creativity as she came up with responses to each challenge they threw at her. Loved the sense of community as they rallied around Chloe during the competition. I admired Chloe’s determination, entrepreneurship, independence, as well as her desire to stay true to her roots. A couple of quotes that resonated with me that embodied what this story was about. “Success doesn’t mean much if you sacrifice who you are to get there.” “It was about creating something meaningful, something that mattered.” Where we Belong is a perfect title for this book. It is definitely my favourite of this series!
I have said it before and I will continue to say it, if Savannah Carlisle writes it I want to read it. This book was no exception.
“Community, connection, and belonging are the foundations of this space.”
“Just remember that success doesn’t mean much if you sacrifice who you are to get there.”
These two quotes from the book speak directly about the heart of the story. You can’t help but fall in love with the characters, the island, and everything that makes Big Dune Island Special. I didn’t think anything could top book 2, but this one did. It’s the perfect beach read for this summer.
* Thank you to Savannah Carlisle and PS I Love You PR for the advanced readers copy. All opinions are my own.
I loved going back to Big Dune Island! Watching Chloe run her community coffee shop and find herself throughout the business competition was so sweet. She is such a likeable character and I couldn't help but root for her throughout. While this book can be read as a standalone, it is nice to see some of the past books' characters show up and be a part of the story too. Even though this book says "romance" and there is a romance arc, it felt more about Chloe and her experience as a coffee shop owner. The slight romance arc was sweet when it did appear though. I would love to be a member of these books and feel as if I am among friends when I read each. Thank you to Harpeth Road Press for an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!
Michael and Chloe's story was inspirational, heartwarming, and just absolutely wonderful!!! Chloe owns a coffee shop where she tries to make it feel like home. It's becomes the hub of downtown and she is super proud but she wonders if people see her success as her brother's since he invested. She enters a competition so she can earn the money to buy him out but realizes she needs some help. Enter Michael. He's talented when it comes to money but that’s his flaw too. He measures success in bottom line profit. Together these two will go on a journey that just might rewrite what each of them deems as success!
If you love a good clean romance, you'll love visiting Big Dune Island as much as I do! This one features a reality TV show for entrepreneurs. Chloe is hoping to buy out her brother from the café and prove to everyone that she can. Michael tries to be helpful.
I loved revisiting characters and hanging out in the café. The Island is home to a tight knit community that rallies around each other in times of need. I loved all the stories behind recipes. This series is charming. I highly recommend it!
This is the best and my most favorite out of the Big Dune Island series. First, the cover is so calming and cheerful. I’m neither a tea nor coffee aficionado but I love the warmth and community Chloe created with her shop. I love the donated dishes concept because that’s a current dilemma for many people. Both Chloe and Michael grow in the right direction while each learns to trust their guts because that’s where the wisdom emanates. It’s a tranquil read as spring finally beckons. Thanks Savannah Carlisle and NetGalley for the digital copies.
