Of Twins.

A boy and a girl with my exact eyes.

Sloane and I had a second chance to build the life we dreamed about all those years ago. But in order to move forward we had to unearth the danger we left behind.

Our enemy was unknown. They were masked in betrayal and hidden by lies. It would take all of my resources at the FBI to uncover their secrets.

Lines would be drawn.

Choices would be made.

Duncan and Sloane were the perfect ending for the 5th and final book in the series. Emotional, suspenseful, second chances and found family make this one heck of a story!
Duncan and Sloane are so powerful and perfect for each other and I loved every tender moment as much as I salivated over the steamy parts!!as sad as I am that he series is over, I so appreciated the journey of all these beloved characters and the smart stories that C.B. crafted so wonderfully!

Finally Duncan

Grumpy Duncan has been living a half life with no sun for the past 9 years. Ever since an IED took his Sunshine away. Then a quirk of fate has him knocking on a door when a pair of ice blue eyes peer at him that match his. I have been needing Duncan's book since book 1 and this did not disappoint. Phenomenal read!

Burned is the 5th book in the On the Hunt Series by C.B. Noy.

I’ve only missed one book in this series and that’s the first book in this series “Haunted” and I have plans to go back and read that book in the near future. I have loved and devoured bk. 2 “Shattered”, bk. 3 “Marked”, bk. 4 “Obsessed” and of course bk. 5 “Burned”. And I’ll be honest Duncan has always been one of my favorite characters and I’ve always found him to be the father figure of the team. And man, I have to tell you his story didn’t disappoint in any way, shape or form.

C.B. gave Burned every heartfelt emotion you could possibly imagine and man oh man does it ever pack one heck of a powerful gut punch, and that makes this a story that’s going to walk into your heart and soul and you’ll suddenly find it’s going to take up a permanent residence.

One of the things that I loved was that we had the opportunity to catch up with the past characters we met and fell in love with in the previous four books and we get to find out where they are now and what they are currently up too. And I loved C.B.’s use of my favorite trope, found family. I loved how all these characters have grown closer and become a closer family than a lot of families who are connected by blood. The way they have this steadfast support and devotion to each other is so stunningly beautiful to witness and makes me wish I could climb into the book and join their family, dragging my husband along with me.

Duncan to his credit has always been the one to hold the family he’s found together and he’s always helped to steer them on a clear and steady path, so it really only made sense and honestly it was only fitting that the On the Hunt series ended with Duncan’s story and Duncan finding his own HEA.

Duncan is a man who has built up a hard and determined shell, but when you look under that shell, you can see that he’s got this warm heart, and he’s willing to do anything and everything he can for the people he loves and cares about. Through all the previous books, my heart broke for Duncan, and it was all because I knew that there was something truly horrible that would have had to have happened to him in order for him to have decided that he was going to remain alone. But I never once considered or even imagined what actually played out.

Sloane, she’s this strong, independent, intelligent and determined FMC. During everything that Duncan and Sloane went through and the way life was manipulated, Sloane never once allowed herself to give up or lose hope. Sloane’s indestructible belief that her true love would return to her and I honestly found that to be such a beautiful sight to see.

I absolutely adored how Duncan and Sloane found each other again and could try again, and how they could pick up where they had left off. Both Duncan and Sloane loved the other so deeply and their love never once waivered, it was the one single constant in both their hearts. Even though so much time had passed and time had changed them both, they both knew without a single doubt, their hearts hadn’t changed or moved on or stopped loving the other and that made my heart sing and at the same time ache and skip a beat at the same time.

I can honestly say that Burned was the perfect ending to this beautiful series. And the series epilogue C.B. gave us was just the icing on the most stunningly cake imaginable.

I have to say thank you to C.B. Noy for this massive and alluring book that’s left me with a book hangover. I am sad that this series has come to an end but I couldn’t have imagined a better way for this amazing series to come to a close. You are truly an author with immeasurable talent and I can’t wait to see what you write next.

I highly recommend this book and this entire series. I do recommend you read this series in order from the 1st book to really get the most enjoyment. This will allow you to really get to know the characters, the couples and all the events that lead up to this book.

I have loved every single single about this series, every character and story have spoken to my heart, but I’ve always had a soft spot for Duncan, the father figure of the team, and omg did his story not disappoint!!

This story has every single heartfelt emotion you could imagine and it has one heck of a powerful punch, making this a story that will simply walk into your heart and take up permanent residence.

I loved catching up with past characters and finding out where their lives are at. But the thing I love the most is the found family aspect. This group of people are closer than any blood relation could ever be. Their steadfast support and devotion to each other is such a heart achingly beautiful thing to witness.

Duncan has always been the one to help his found family and steer them on a clearer path, so it was only fitting that the series end with him finding his own HEA. He’s a man with a hard and determined shell, but inside you can clearly see the warm heart, ready and willing to do anything for those in his circle. My heart ached for him throughout the previous books, because I knew there had to be something bad to have him determined to be alone. I hadn’t once considered what played out though.

Sloane is such a strong and determined character. During everything that happened to herself and Duncan and the way life had been manipulated, she didn’t once lose hope. Her unbreakable belief that her love would return was a beautiful sight to see.

I absolutely adored that they found each other and could almost pick up where they left off. The love they both felt never wavered, was still a constant in both their hearts. Even though time had passed, the fact that their hearts hadn’t moved on made my heart simultaneously ache and skip a beat at the same time.

This is the perfect ending to a perfect series. The series epilogue was simply the icing on the most beautiful cake imaginable.

Thankyou C B Noy for a humongous and beautiful book hangover. I hated for this series to end but I couldn’t have imagined a better way to bring it to a close. You truly are an author with unlimited talent.

After reading the previous books in this series, I have been eagerly awaiting Duncan’s story. It does not disappoint. It provides an epic love story, betrayal, loads of suspense and a close-knit found family. Duncan, the steadfast, growly and very protective FBI agent, is stunned to learn that the woman he has been grieving for nearly a decade is alive and well. She is also the mother of his nearly eight year old twins and the sister of his best friend and fellow agent’s new fiancé.

Sloane is thrilled to see her former lover again, though the fact that he goes by a different name and had been working undercover when they met has her feeling a tad angry. When Duncan explains what happened to Sloane, her hot headed brother and to his team, everyone realizes that someone had tried to eliminate him and Sloane. His cover might have been blown, though it is seeming more likely that he was betrayed by his own team of agents. Duncan and the agents he know calls family are determined to find out who was responsible for the IED and telling him that Sloane had died. The investigation puts them all at risk, even the twins who are just getting used to having their father in their lives.

The chemistry and bond between Duncan and Sloane is intense, even after their years apart. His fierce protectiveness can be grating after years of being forced to handle things alone, but Sloane and Duncan gradually find a common ground and put the wellbeing of their twins first and foremost. The twins are mischievous, adorable and keep the adults on their toes. The camaraderie and trust between Duncan and his found family is comparable to that of a family. They support each other unconditionally. They also tease and poke at each other, sometimes unmercifully. Sloane has found a wonderful support system as well with some partners of Duncan’s colleagues. The ladies are fiercely loyal, rally to either support or commiserate, and often keep everyone guessing about what they will do next.

This wonderful romantic suspense was a thrilling and compelling read. I highly recommend it and the whole series. For the most enjoyment, it is best to read the books in order.

Burned (On The Hunt Book 5) by C.B. Noy closes out the series with a story that leans heavily into second chances, buried truths, and the kind of love that doesn’t fade even after years of believing it was lost.

This one hits differently right from the start. There’s an emotional weight tied to time lost and everything that comes with it, grief, confusion, and the shock of having your past collide with your present in a way you never saw coming. The story doesn’t rush through that. It lets those moments settle, which makes the connection between the characters feel that much more real.

Duncan and Sloane’s story is very much about rebuilding. Not just a relationship, but trust, understanding, and a sense of family that should have existed all along. There’s a mix of tension and tenderness in how their dynamic unfolds, especially as they try to navigate everything that stands between what was and what could be.

The suspense element adds another strong layer to the story. There’s a constant sense that something bigger is at play, with danger and unanswered questions driving the plot forward. It keeps the pacing steady while balancing the emotional side of the story, so it never feels too heavy in one direction.

What stood out to me most is how much this book focuses on choices, what’s done in the past, what’s uncovered in the present, and what the characters are willing to fight for moving forward. That sense of determination ties everything together, especially as the story builds toward its conclusion.

Overall, this is a strong, emotionally driven finale that blends romance, suspense, and second-chance elements in a way that feels both intense and satisfying.

If you enjoy romantic suspense, second-chance love, hidden pasts, and stories that balance action with emotional depth, this is a solid ending to the On The Hunt series.

As always be mindful of trigger warnings, what I like you may not.

Happy Reading! 📚✨

We begin this book right where the cliffhanger left us in book 4. WOW!! Be prepared for some pretty big news, some pretty hard truths, some unavoidable lies to come to light and so much emotions jumping right off the pages.

Duncan knew he had found the love of his life all those years ago. But when he was told after the accident that she had died, he believed the people that were supposed to have his back. Sure he has moved on in all ways possible except opening his heart up again. Putting together his found family of teammates has been his sole focus. That is until he opens the door and finds the surprise of his life.

After the accident everyone tried to make Sloane feel like she was along in the car. But she knew better, and the only one who believed her and stood by her was her big brother. He helped her get back on her feet and with anything she needed as a single mother. Secretly she believed Rogan was still alive somewhere and would find them. She just didn't have all the pieces of the puzzle.

Duncan and Sloane have so many hurdles to cross as they move forward in this new life. Duncan working to earn the trust of Sloane after everything that happened. Getting to know his children he was certain he would never have. But most importantly, keeping them safe while they find out why they were kept apart.

A fantastic end to a great series full of characters we have all come to love. Sad to see the end but also excited to see where we might go next.

Grab your copy and enjoy.

Burned
On The Hunt
Book 5
By C.B. Noy

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Duncan and Sloane
The best kind of second chance story.

They meet. They fall in love. But he is an undercover FBI agent and there are people that want to keep secrets hidden.

Duncan and Sloane have been a long time coming. And their story is beautiful. Duncan is a protective FBI supervisory special agent with the FBI. Strong, protective, supportive, and hiding the demons of his past. Sloane is the strong single mom dealing with a mess of an extended family, but hasn’t given up hope her love will return. This kind of second chance, where the characters are separated because of outside forces but don’t give up on their love for each, is the most beautiful and satisfying kind of second chance. And their kids…gah don’t get me started on Rogan and Reagan. They are absolutely adorable.

And of course all our favorite characters are back for this final story. And the epilogue is shear perfection as we say so long to Huntington.

On the Hunt has been a fantastic series. This group of found family FBI agents that have walked through h*ll to get their happily ever afters is a must read for those that love small towns, protective FBI agents, strong FMCs, romance, suspense, and found families.

Burned ( On The Hunt Book 5) by CB Noy. I was so excited to read this book due to the cliffhanger from Book 4. When Sloane opened that door and the father of her twins was standing there, I screamed for her. This book basically picks up where book 4 left off. We finally learn The Ghost's story and boy oh boy does he have one. I can tell you I never expected that. As we learn more about his story we discover how he met Sloane and why she knows him by another name. All Duncan knows is that he has to get to the bottom of what happened all those years ago. He has so many questions and he needs those answers in order to keep his family safe. After discovering the love of his life is actually alive and not only that but he has twins, Duncan knows without a shadow of a doubt that someone orchestrated him thinking she was dead. The real question is why go to such lengths. His story is definitely a cat and mouse story. As he follows the breadcrumbs of what happened all those years ago he is devastated at what he finds. I truly enjoyed this story. Once the mystery was solved and his family safe Duncan found his HEA. 5 stars for me

Highly anticipated story since the "oooh!" moments at the end of Waverly & Finn's story! And this did NOT disappoint. Duncan & Sloane's story is a perfect second chance, still in love tale.

I love the pacing, the reveals, the family dynamics. I love watching our grumpy Duncan share more smiles, which freaks everyone out. 😄 Finding out Sloane is alive AND he's a dad? His heart is full to bursting, and so was mine as I read.

Sloane, Rogan, Reagan - they bring out Duncan's joy & he brings the same to them. ❤️

Their story is about building their family while also needing to solve the mystery of their past. Duncan & the team - along with some friends from other series - work hard to bring justice. We get suspense & steam, love & laughter, and a great epilogue with more HEA updates.

Really enjoyed this a lot, a lot!!

I always dread the end of a series because we have to say bye to characters that we’ve fallen in love with. But I couldn’t wait to get to the end of the On The Hunt series because it meant that we finally got to Duncan’s story. He has been so mysterious in this series and I didn’t know what to expect from the man who walked in the room so quiet that no one could hear him and the man that never told anyone (except Waverly) what had happened in his life. To see this hard as nails agent be a completely different person was so unexpected but so great. I adored Sloane and the twins, Rogan and Reagan. The kids were funny and kept Duncan on his toes. There are just no words to do this book justice! It will lift your mood and fill your soul. I am beyond speechless at what CB Noy wrote. I will definitely miss this series and I hope that they make an appearance in the next one.

Duncan – You did not disappoint! You saved the best for last, you and Sloan were everything. Your story gave us secrets, suspense, betrayal, and a romance that will have me re-reading this book soon.
Duncan mourned Sloan’s death for almost a decade, became the father figure for his team, and his determination has him damn good at his job.

Sloan matches Duncan in her determination. She hopes to reunite with Duncan, but they have been wronged, and when they do meet, he is undercover. The risk of being together outweighs the danger. The love between them never wavered.

This is a fast paced story, and I highly recommend it and the series. It is best to read this series in order for the maximum understanding and enjoyment.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

BURNED continues from the surprise at the end of OBSESSED, Duncan Palmer finally gets his HEA. The man that’s always there for everyone else on his team with sage advice and to stand against any threat to his made family, Duncan’s past from years earlier comes back with a vengeance and a side dish of surprise, betrayal, and second chance.

Hard truths, unavoidable confrontations from past deceptions, heartfelt emotions, and new beginnings span throughout the pages of this suspenseful read. There are also many twists and turns to keep you guessing and a timeless love that spans years of separation with a wonderful reward of true family and happiness in the end.

Duncan and Sloane’s story is amazing and with the help of family and friends a wonderful ending to the ON THE HUNT series.

I thought I was prepared for Duncan’s book. But I wasn’t. Duncan’s capacity to love showed no bounds. Sloane’s strength and never wavering loyalty to Duncan was mind blowing.
Let’s be honest…..everyone that has read the last 7ish book would probably agree that Duncan has been the biggest mystery of all of Ms Noy’s books. We alllllll knew he had a past but dang, it was a doozy.
The mixture of suspense, humor and drama in this book was absolute perfection. What a way to end a series. Don’t even get me started with those epilogues. I was a crying mess by the end.
If I could give this book 10 stars I would. Bravo CB! You knocked it out of the park with this one.

Burned is book five of the On The Hunt Series.

When book four ended we were left with a cliffhanger about Duncan. We get to see the fallout from everything that happened with him many years ago with Sloane. Now they are reunited and secrets gets revealed about what truly kept them apart all of these years. They have to get to know each other again since their past relationship developed around a lie. Sloane has to learn to trust Duncan again after everything that happened. I felt it was a fast paced story, with some great twists.

I love romantic suspense and this series by C.B. Noy is one of the best I've read. This book picks up immediately after the cliffhanger of the previous book. Duncan and Sloan have been kept apart through betrayal and deception for almost 8 years, each thinking the other was dead. The reader will not be prepared for the twist, the reason for the deception, or the culprit. This story is emotional, heart-breaking, and full of love. I will miss these characters and this series but I have no doubt Ms. Noy has other books up her sleeve.

What an amazing way to end a series! The last book in the On the Hunt Series features Duncan and Sloane in a story that I have been waiting to read since I read the first book featuring Duncan. The way that fate brought Duncan and Sloane back together years after tragedy tore them apart just made me so happy. I loved their connection and how it never wavered. I’m so happy with how the series ended and how we got to catch up with all the amazing couples from the series.

I have been patiently waiting for Duncan‘s book knowing his story was going to be epic! Sloan“s character was absolutely destined for Duncan
Lots of twist and turns with their history that kept me on the edge of my seat. The chemistry between these two characters was beautifully written, and finally after five books I loved getting to see Duncan‘s vulnerabilities.
That’s all I’m gonna say I don’t wanna give anything away. This was absolutely a five star read for me and the epilogues were absolutely brilliant.

The Prefect Finale

This was the story I’ve been waiting for—not so patiently—and it absolutely delivered. Duncan and Sloane’s story starts with a sweet meet-cute but quickly turns heartbreaking when outside forces interfere with their budding relationship. Fast forward years later, and they discover that everything they believed had happened was actually a lie. Duncan and Sloane not only have to navigate the grief and confusion of their past, but also the danger lurking in their present that could threaten their future. There are twists and turns that genuinely keep you on your toes, giving it that can’t-put-it-down, page-turning energy. Their twins, Rogan and Reagan, are absolutely adorable. I love the found family aspect of this series and how they always have each other’s backs no matter what. I absolutely loved the series epilogue—it was the best kind of ending. A truly unforgettable finale.

If you love romantic suspense, accidental pregnancy and small town romance, buckle up for an amazing story.

OMG, CB Noy saved one of the best couples for last. We get Duncan's tory and I loved the twist of his love interest being Finn's sister, Sloane. Add in two adorable twins and this makes for a heartbreaking but satisfying story. Duncan and Sloane were robbed of an earlier HEA. They met when Duncan was on an undercover opp, but "lost" each other after a crash. Their reunion stirs up threats and drama from the past and Duncan will burn down the world to protect what is his.
