Steter Fanfic
After the sacrifice and committing to becoming Scott's Emissary, Stiles begins to suffer the effects of the Nemeton to the point that it becomes so dangerous he needs a physical and emotional anchor or he might just destroy the world. It has to be a werewolf, more importantly one with the age and experience to help him control his wild emotions and bring him back into balance. There's really only one choice.

An excellent short fanfic told from Stiles' pov. Stiles is forced to mate with Peter to save him from the dark influence of the Nemeton. Peter plays the good guy in this fic.

'The threat was implicit and the Sheriff's gun hand was twitching, even though his guns were locked away in their safe, while his eyes were locked on Peter.

"He saved my life."

"What. Did. He. Do."

"Um...wehadtohavesextosetthebond," Stiles mumbled.'

Not a terrible story, but it lacked the edge, and the bite I like in my Steter stories. Something felt off to me about the characters, their relationships, and the writing style. Not for me.

Terrific premise, with strong writing and execution, especially the picture of Stiles' descent into madness due to the Nemeton, which was vivid and economical. As often happens with fanfics, this felt way too short to really do justice to the idea--like I could have read 70,000 words of this story. Also, considering that this is a mostly canon-based version of Peter, the character was surprisingly benign here. The voicing was good, but the character was way more ethical than I'm used to.

Bottom line: I'm always willing to read well-written Steter, and Anchor is that.

3.5 stars This had a different plot than what I've seen before, and not as dark as the usual Steter, which was a nice change. Coming back from the dead basically fixed Peter's brain, so he's relatively well-adjusted now, although still the same person. While this was different and sweet, I would have loved a couple more chapters to be able to really feel the connection develop between Stiles and Peter. There is no insta-love here. But there is attraction, and with the mating bond there is a connection once Peter is willing to give in. So just a tad longer would have been perfect (maybe show the them meet the Pack for the first time as a couple). But sex is light and off-page, but that's alright too.
