I LOVE Jay Kristoff’s writing style. He seriously has some of the best world building I have ever read. Super dark and he truly doesn’t believe in happy endings (however I think this series ended beautifully).
Plot twist had me on the edge of my seat.
Book #1 was my favorite. Book #2 was mid. Book #3 was better than book #2 but not as good as book #1. HOWEVER, the last book’s ending was the best part. Like honestly I loved the ending and couldn’t put down the last 200 pages. Went through all 5 stages of grief with this series but I was so happy with the ending. Some of the characters seriously pissed me off (Celene Castia, sorry) but I fell in love with others (Gabriel De Leon I love you so bad).
There are a lot of vampire books, movies, shows, universes, etc. out there but I think this was my favorite (besides Twilight which always has #1 in my heart for the vampire universe, duh).

Oh fuck my face! I honestly don't know if I want to give this series 1 star or 5 stars! I laughed, I screamed. I basically didnt sleep. My late teen son was recommended this Series by his English teacher and alas, now the entire family has read it. Argued about it. So, to bring such passion to a series you did well. I hated it, but could not put it down. The Ending was French Kiss. Some series need to be reviewed as a whole, this is one. As until the last page the vision doesn't come to pass. Enjoy the journey follow book lovers. There a very few authors or series that make it to my must read again. This will definitely be one. Farewell, but not for long.
If I could give a 3.5 I would. I read this series as a separate fantasy style than I'm used to but I found the books to be very detailed almost to a fault (500-800 page books) although the books had a lot of action packed pages and plot building. The books were written as a retelling of events passed which sometimes hindered my attention of the action because we were brought back to the plot at the present time. Overall, a good read but would not re-read.
It took me a little bit to get into it the first book and I'm so glad I stuck with it! The ending brings everything together and makes everything make sense, and I reread the ending several times because it was that good! *Chef's kiss*
