Ernie's Lost Puppy

Rate this book
Ernie lost his puppy and found his new daddy.

I have one Pup-Pup stays home.

My sweet stuffed puppy is my most treasured gift. The ER doctor who treated me after my accident told me that when things felt impossible, I should hold him close and remember I was strong and brave. Pup-Pup has been my lifeline ever since, worn soft from years of desperate hugs.

I was transferred that night and never saw him again. But I never forgot his soft smile, his kind eyes, his calm, supportive voice…or the way he made me feel safe.

Today, I break my rule and bring Pup-Pup to a job interview. I need to remember I’m strong and brave and that I can do this. And it works. It’s my best interview yet. I celebrate with a fancy coffee in the park…where a real dog steals him from my open bag.

I’ve had nightmares like this where Pup-Pup is gone, leaving me all alone. Only this isn’t a nightmare—it’s more of a dream come true when the dog’s owner brings him back.

It’s him.

The doctor who once placed Pup-Pup in my hands is now returning him. And he’s not looking at me like a patient anymore.
He’s looking at me like a man.

Ernie’s Lost Puppy is a sweet age play romance featuring a little who loses his treasured puppy and finds his new daddy, a daddy who gave a stuffie he’d been saving for when he found his boy to a patient who needed it more, the patient who never forgot that doctor, the real-life fur ball who brings them together and will steal your heart, presents galore, snuggles, cuddles, stuffies, footie jams, a memorable day at Chained, new beginnings, some old friends, true love, and a guaranteed happily ever after. If you like your romances on the Hallmark side but a bit kinkier, check out Ernie’s Lost Puppy by USA Today Bestselling author Della Cain and her bestie and frequent partner in crime, Kaytea Kat.

I enjoy the meet cutes in this series, and then I flip to the end. There were too many sentences that did not make sense, more thorough proofreading is required.

When Ernie meets the doctor who treated him and gave him his stuffie, Pup-Pup, ten years ago, he can hardly believe his eyes. He has thought of this man for ten years, wanting to express his gratitude, and maybe get to know him better. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Jovan could be not only a doctor, but a Daddy, too? Little Ernie can’t help but dream and he can’t think of anything better.

Jovan has thought of the teen boy whose life he saved many times over the last ten years, wondering how well he had healed and how his life had been. Then suddenly, there the boy is, now a man, brought together by the stuffed dog he gave him for comfort all those years ago, reunited by his real dog. At first, it is awkward, but over coffee they soon talk and learn about the years since their last meeting.

Both feel a connection, and Ernie gathers his courage to ask if they could go on a date. Jovan agrees, but he puts it off, worried about the ethics of dating a patient, even one he saw once, ten years ago —until a group of Daddies sets him straight. So begins a slow moving, developing relationship, one which needs to work out logistics for Ernie’s big and little times, and how to navigate times Jovan might be required to leave Ernie when he is in little space. Through planning and communication they work toward a lasting relationship that works for both.

I really enjoy this “Lost” —Found by Daddy series. The stories are short, low angst, but very satisfying, leaving me feeling really good with a smile on my face. The characters are realistic and relatable, boundaries, needs and wants are clear, and Forever is the goal. For a light, entertaining read, they can’t be beat.

Ernie has always relied on Pup‑Pup, the stuffed puppy given to him years ago by the ER doctor who treated him after an accident. That doctor, Jovan, told him to hold the toy whenever life felt overwhelming, and it became Ernie’s constant source of comfort. On the day of an important job interview, Ernie breaks his own rule and brings Pup‑Pup along for courage — only to lose him when a real dog snatches him from his bag. When the dog’s owner returns the toy, Ernie is stunned to realise it’s Jovan himself. The doctor who once soothed him as a frightened patient is now looking at him with recognition, warmth, and interest — not as someone to care for, but as someone he wants to know. Their unexpected reunion turns a moment of panic into the beginning of something hopeful and deeply personal.

A sweet, gentle story built around a lost stuffie, a mischievous dog named Zoe, and the unexpected reunion it sparks. Ernie’s panic over losing Pup‑Pup turns into a lovely moment when Jovan — the doctor who once comforted him years ago — is the one who returns it, and their steps toward a relationship feel warm and hopeful. I especially loved the care Jovan shows Ernie; his patience and kindness give the story its heart. Ernie’s hesitation did feel a little bit silly at times, which held the emotional depth back just a touch, but the overall tone is soft, comforting, and easy to enjoy. A short, sweet read that leaves you smiling. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.

When Ernie was a teen he was in a horrible traffic accident, the ER doctor who treated him wanted to offer him some comfort and Pup Pup came into his life. Now Pup Pup is a constant companion, at home, he doesn't go out. Well he didn't, the day of an important interview is the day Ernie takes Pup Pup out, almost loses him in the park and reunites with the beautiful ER doctor.

Jovan has never forgotten the young man he gave the stuffed dog to and suddenly he's seeing him again. Having taken his dog to the park the naughty girl saw Pup Pup and wanted to play. Is she also playing matchmaker? It's entirely possible as that meeting leads to another which leads to more...

The angst is there though, a gentle angst. Ernie is nervous, not having found any other man who understands his needs, needs as a Little. Jovan is anxious because he thinks of Ernie as a past patient even though he absolutely wasn't. He was on his last shift at that ER and now works in another. As we explore with them we see that they both have plenty to gain from a relationship. I couldn't put the story down, not until I knew if it would work out or I had finished! It's completely addictive and a wonderful addition to the series which can be read as a standalone without issue.

Thanks Della Cain for another sweet, charming story.

This is a Great Story to Read!! This is part of the Found by Daddy Series, this is a great series to read. This is about Daddies and Littles who find what they need to make their lives easier and happy. Ernie was in a bad car accident and Dr. Jovan saves his life and puts him back together on his last night working at the hospital. Dr. Jovan gives Ernie a stuffed puppy to hold on to, to keep him calm and safe. Ten years later Dr. Jovan wonders what happen to that young man he saved and gave the stuffie to. Ernie is excited that he nailed his interview so he decides to go sit at the park for a while and enjoy the nice day when he notices that Pup-Pup is missing. Jovan takes to stuffed pup from his dog Zoe and tells her that it is not her stuffie it belongs to someone else and they need to find his owner. Jovan is happy to see that the young man he treated is doing well and they agree to get drinks. Will Jovan be able to get past the former patient part of their history????? Will Ernie be able to come out of his little space if Daddy has an Emergency that he has to go and do????.

Hang on you will be rooting for him to find his puppy and won’t put it down until he does. Ernie was given a little stuff dog whom he named Pup-Pup by his ER doc. who treated him after an accident with very strict instructions to hold him whenever he was feeling overwhelmed, and that happened to be often not to mention Pup-Pup was his best friend. But when he heads to a job interview instead of leaving Pup-Pup at home he needed the courage but that ended up with him getting Pup-Pup snatched by a real dog breaking his heart. Dr. Jovan remembers giving the Pup-Pup to a little when he had an accident, he remembers giving it to him for courage, but he never expected to see him again until his dog took his Pup-Pup and that can’t just happen and so he decides to bring the animal back to the boy. The magnetic pull is there the moment they meet with the return of Pup-Pup add in the mix a loveable pooch named Zoe and the patience of a wonder doctor with his boy but where is it headed, has he found his forever daddy, has he found his forever boy, and have they found happiness with Pup-Pup along with Zoe?

This is the sixteenth book in the Found by Daddy series. Each book is a standalone read and focuses on a different couple. This is the story of Ernie and Jovan. Ernie is a little who had a beloved stuffie named Pup-Pup. It was given to him by an ER doctor when he was involved in a crash many years earlier. When he brings him along to a job interview, Pup-Pup goes missing from his bag while in the park. Panic ensues as he searches for Pup-Pup. Jovan is a doctor and dog daddy to Zoe. At the park, Zoe snatches Pup-Pup. Once Jovan finds it, he searches for it's owner. Seeing Ernie frantically searching, the two meet up. Ernie immediately forgives Zoe and the two begin talking. Ernie is shocked to see the doctor from the ER who gave him Pup-Pup. This is their story. The book is written well and is easy to read. It is a warm and gentle story that will leave a smile on your face. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one in this series.

What a great story! Ernie and Jovan meet when Ernie is a teen and involved in a serious car accident. Jovan is the doctor that saves him, giving him a stuffed puppy to help him get through his long recovery. Pup Pup never leaves the house but when Ernie has a big job interview, he ends up breaking his rule and taking Pup Pup with him. But on a walk in the park after the interview, he will find Pup Pup missing. Jovan is walking his dog, Zoe in the park when she comes back with a stuffed dog not her own. And Jovan recognizes both the stuffed dog and the owner sitting on a bench. The two reconnect and find they have quite a bit in common. Jovan is hesitant at first to date Ernie but will give in and I love how their story unfolds. There is small bump in the road but the two figure out how to overcome it together and I love their happily ever after!.

All the books in the Found by Daddy series are quick, sweet reads. So why did I find myself sniveling through "Ernie's Lost Puppy"? The sweetness actually hurt. A little bit of a heartbreaker.
There's a ten year gap between the first meet and the second. Daddy Dr. Jovan gave frightened teenager Ernie a puppy stuffie in the ER, telling him that it would keep the boy safe. Meet two is perfectly Hallmark. Jovan's dog steals a stuffie from an open bag, it turns out to be Ernie's well loved Pup-Pup.
Ernie asks Jovan out on a date. The "I can't date a patient" ethics crisis that Jovan has, was a bit ridiculous. Gratuitous angst. That plot arc fell flat for me.
That sour note aside, the story was absolutely sweet. Jovan was the perfect daddy. Ernie was an adorable little. Little play was so well described. Chained, the supportive kink club, provided us with happy cameos.

The characters were so very appealing and likeable and perfectly steamy together. Plot was well developed and world building was solidly drawn and impressive. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

I love these books because they help me decompress when I'm stressed. And this one was super cute. Ernie was in a car accident because of a drunk driver. He woke up in the hospital to Jovan, who was the doctor that saved his life. On that day, Jovan gave him a stuffed animal of a little dog named Pup-Pup. Ernie would not see him again for 10 years because Jovan was transferring to a different hospital. When Jovan's dog Zoe ran off from the dog park and returned with a stuffed animal, he was shocked to find out that the owner was the patient he had saved so long ago. He had often thought about him, wondering how he had recovered. Neither could imagine that all these years later their feelings would go beyond patient and doctor. I absolutely love Zoe; I thought she was adorable in this book.

I do love a found daddy story from Della and Kaytea. I’ve read them all and somehow I’m still surprised we are on book 16!

A decade after Jovan had saved Ernie from a very nasty car accident, they meet again when the cheeky but adorable dog Zoe stole Ernie’s favourite stuffie called Pup Pup, given to him by Jovan 10 years prior, and led her human dad back to Ernie. What follows was an adorable little story, of finding your person, and finding your way. I really love these books, they are just long enough to change my mood for the better and short enough to take an hour or so for yourself.

I highly recommend the whole series! It was lovely seeing a Glimpse of Bridger and Hudson again.

I love reading these sweet romances in this series. Love the covers which draws me to them everytime. Especially Ernie's Lost Puppy. Ernie found his daddy in Jovan. They met prior under terrible circumstances but Ernie always remembered Jovan. When Ernie lost his "pup pup" and was returned by Jovan...it was really just fate. Not a lot of angst in this other than Ernie and Jovan doubting themselves but their romance took a real journey of trust and love and it was wonderful. Enjoyed reading this and I think others would love it too.

This is part of the “Found By Daddy” series. Reading this as an ARC, I was surprised by the spelling and grammatical errors I kept running into in the first half. I really love this storyline and the characters so I hope the authors have a chance fix this.

Overall, this is a nice, low angst, quick read if you love DDlb stories. I loved the slow approach and thoughtfulness each character gave to their relationship instead of just falling into instalove and ignoring reality.

Thank you Booksprout, Decadent Publishing, Della Cain and Kaytea Kat for the advanced copy. I am voluntarily leaving this review.

Jovan was a Doctor who saved Ernie's life after a car accident. He gave Ernie a stuffed puppy, Pup-Pup, to comfort him and then left for another hospital. Ernie saved Pup-Pup, loved him and he became the Little's everything until someone's dog stole him. The dog was Jovan's and he returned the stuffie to Ernie, now in a position to want more from Ernie, everything. Ernie is a Little but only part time and wants a Daddy though he is more independent. I received a copy of this through BookSprout and this is my voluntary opinion.

I so enjoy Della Cain's books. The connections and dynamics resonate with me and the characters are genuine and relateable. Here, Jovan and Ernie have a brief history that dramatically impacted both of them. When they reconnect years later it's on a different level, yet that history is still there. The applicability of this story in particular had me hooked, as well as the level of self-awareness of both characters. Totally worth the read!.

I was gifted a copy of this book and voluntarily provided this review. Happy Reading Y'all 📚

This was a cute story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Jovan is a doctor and operated on Ernie when he was a senior in high school and almost ready for graduation from high school, and now it’s been a long time and when he meets Ernie at the park when his dog Zoe takes his stuffie Pup-Pup from his bag. I enjoyed this story and how they both overcome their histories with each other and we’re able to form a relationship that led them towards a happily ever after.

Sweet! Ernie, was saved in the ER and the Doc, Jovan, gave him pup-pup. Years later, Ernie took pup-pup on a job interview and lost him. Then when he is in a park, a dog comes up and steals pup-pup. Turns out pup-pup's Daddy, is the Doc, Jovan. It's 10 years later and Ernie is an adult now. Totally delicious story of how Ernie and Jovan navigate their new relationship. Excellent! Nicely done, I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

So cute.

I enjoy these stories so much and eagerly await each one. Ernie is such an amazing young man. Being injured the way he was and having the strength to be where he is now wasn’t easy. Plus, he has a great work ethic. Jovan is a great Daddy and an amazing doctor. I adored Zoe.

This was a terrific light story, a sweet addition to the series. I liked that Jovan cares enough to really stop and talk through what is bothering Ernie. Together, they made a plan that worked for both of them. Their relationship is lovely, and they work together to make it healthy and happy.

Sweet "little" story along the lines of the others in this series. There's really nothing outstanding here but it does provide a few hours of mindless entertainment so that's a plus some days.

The premise was cute and the characters more solid and realistic than some others in the past. Definitely worth picking up if you've been following the core group of littles from the series.

This is a sweet story about a daddy and his little. I love that the MC's have a connection from meeting in the past, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations.
It's a speedy read without any drama, and adorable furball that brings to men together. So for those looking for something short and cute, this is it.

Despite a life-altering injury, Ernie learned to move forward and embrace life. But he never forgot the empathetic and caring doctor who saved him. Thanks to Pup Pup and Zoe, they reconnected when they were both in the right place. You can’t help but love little's and their daddies.

I love this whole "lost" series. Ernie's lost puppy is no exception. It took over a decade for Ernie to meet up with Jovan the doctor who saved his life when he was a teen. Their are some issues that need sorting due to each of these characters having concerns over things that ultimately are easy to overcome. I loved this story so much!

These are all such sweet with a little heat stories that are an absolute delight to read. In this one, Ernie loses Pup Pup after he nailed an interview. To his surprise, the person that returns Pup Pup is the same person that gave him his prized possession. These two are a delight and so sweet to read as they grow together.
