My father was a police officer when I was younger so I grew up with the show COPS. We were the children who lived with a partial police dog while getting to roam the share fire/police departments and proudly sitting in the front seat of the police car. This was a welcome relief for me into getting back to the "police" world after watching so many police brutality protests going on since most people don't think what it takes to be a police officer.

True to form this isn't a book that cover the actual police world in all its tediousness, inside struggles, emotional battles, conflicts of family, etc. Instead this book will take you into the world spiritual and emotional may blur while wrenching feelings of compassion, wonder, curiosity, laughter and the knowledge of being able to relate such as in "Skunked" (one of my favorite stories for the phones remind me of my job with their maniacal insistent customers).

The book does a beautiful job of realizing the author's hope in allowing the reader to relate with the various law members who mention their story. There are stories that can rip your heart out, make you cringe and yet laugh, happy stories, thoughtful ones. These are no longer the brave men and women of the badge who are above us but our neighbors, our family members and someone who struggles to live life with a higher meaning to make the world safe.

This is truly not just another police story or a book around the beat but a story of community that has been forgotten.

The book was okay, nothing spectacular. Each story was often just 2-3 pages as an officer related something inexplicable regarding a case. The brevity makes this is the perfect book to keep in the bathroom for when you need, in police terminology, to take a Signal X :-)

Fun and interesting read

Lots about intuition guiding officers in ways you wouldn't ordinarily imagine. Amazing UFO sightings and experiences, weird coincidences and Karma... I enjoyed the book.

My only complaint is that the author felt the need to preach to the reader about how the reader should be open minded when reading a chapter and without judgment.

Since when did authors tell readers what their mindset "should be" when reading a chapter? It's one of the number one rules of writing not to interfere with the reader's experience, and I was furious at the pompous essay of those instructions.
Just trust the reader and let them read the book.
I think it's ok to warn a reader, but not to preach to them about how to think.

This was not a terrible book. It was put together nicely and well written by those who gave their stories to Dean; however, some stories were a hit and other's a miss. I suppose it goes more to who is reading it if you'll like some stories or not. Personally some fell flat and I would skim through them or skip it altogether. Others had me wrapped up wishing there was more.

I would say if you like these types of stories then it is worth a try. You might find some enjoyable like I did or even enjoy all of it.

Thanks alot

Having spent many years as a police officer I know we all have weird stories to tell. Sgt. Dean told some that were close to home and tear jerkers. A great read. I hope Sgt. Dean reaches out because there are thousands of weird incidents and stories that should be told. Would like another book.

I really enjoyed this collection of brief stories as told by various law enforcement officers. Though there were some that I viewed as simple intuition, some were a little creepy, some definitely supernatural, while others made me tear up or laugh out loud.

When we think of police stories we generally think of everything from jay walking, traffic stops or the police chasing bad guys. But would you ever consider the police ever having to deal with strange feelings, ghosts or bad karma? Well, that's exactly what you would read about in this book.

Dean presents readers with actual accounts of various officer experiences. Each account is a brief telling of a specific experience. Each officer is listed following their story. Most of these accounts appear to have taken place in the state of Michigan. It's up to you, the reader, to decide whether or not you believe any of these occurrences. Perhaps some of you would be able to relate to them.

Many of us feel as though we have a guardian angel watching over us. Dean has presented officers who have experienced bright lights which saved them from fatal bullet wounds to dreams that saved lives. Many officers learn to trust their instincts. One officer experiences an event where he is sent to camp where the perpetrator had been hiding. His instincts told him not to look in the last window. Luckily, when the perpetrator was caught he stated he was sitting at that window with a gun read to shoot.

Ghosts could be the reason another officer went to check out a disturbance of at an Inn. No one was there but the inn keeper. All doors were locked with the exception of one. The officer was called away from that particular door, but upon her return the door was shut and locked. The inn keeper had to let her in with a key.

Dean does an excellent job of giving readers many accounts of stories involving physic behavior, ghosts, signs and symbols to name a few. If you are a reader who loves police stories, then this is the book for you.

This was an ok collection of supposedly real anecdotes by police officers while on the job.
There are a couple of disquieting stories and some are even scary. but overall, for a book claiming stories of the strange and unexplained, there are a lot of them that are just uninteresting conjectures and coincidences. Nothing supernatural or weird about them, just product of simple human intuition.
That said, there were a couple of stories that truly unnerved me, like the one that occurs in a mine shaft and a "kid".
Are these real? most likely not, but if you are entertained by this kind of stories, this book might be for you. Just keep your expectations low, as there are very few stories i'd consider interesting or real paranormal ocurrences.

This was a really interesting book - I love true police stories, anyway, even if they don't contain elements of the weird or supernatural. Then layer in the supernatural and unexplainable element and this book was captivating - I couldn't put it down. So many of these stories were amazing and moving - make no mistake, there are gut-wrenching stories of horrible crimes, molestation and death (of children), in this book that had me sobbing. But there are also beautiful and touching and moving and funny and wondrous stories as well. A great book, covering the gamut of the police experience.

A fun to read collection of first-hand accounts from law enforcement officials discussing how apparitions, prophetic dreams, the Holy Spirit, UFOs, intuition, and other things beyond our understanding sometimes impact the lives of police officers and those they defend. Many of the stories come from the Michigan area. Hopefully, in her follow-up book, the author will compile a wider collection of stories.

This book has amazing police stories.
Some stories are confusing others are sad and some just put me on the edge of my seat.
I would recommend this book to people who love reading about police or interested in being a police officer.
Some stories are a little disgusting and others are just willing to read.
These police stories are all true and some are amazing.

This was recommended by the guys who run the Mysterious Universe podcast. It was entertaining but the majority of the stories seemed to come from a select group of people. I would've preferred a broader range of people from more varying backgrounds and locales.

I was a little disappointed in this book. I thought it would be stories of the paranormal, but instead it's basically just bizarre and strange events that the author ran into as a police officer. It was interesting, but not what I expected.
