I closed **Clash** by Frank Kennedy feeling completely overwhelmed in the best possible way. Few books manage to balance sweeping world building, deeply personal character journeys, and thought provoking themes without losing sight of the heart of the story. This novel accomplishes all of that with remarkable confidence, delivering an epic that feels both breathtaking in scale and deeply intimate.
What captivated me most was how the story follows two very different paths that are equally compelling. Arliss Dubai's struggle to preserve peace after a devastating war is far more than a political battle. Watching him navigate fragile alliances where yesterday's enemies must somehow become tomorrow's partners created constant emotional tension. His leadership is tested not only by external threats but by the painful sacrifices required to protect the people who believe in him. I found myself admiring his resilience while questioning whether anyone could carry such a burden without losing part of themselves.
At the same time, Kip Dubai's story fascinated me on an entirely different level. His children evolving beyond his understanding was one of the most intriguing ideas in the novel. The realization that he can no longer guide the next generation unless he himself changes added a profound emotional and philosophical dimension to the story. The haunting idea that "Only a god can kiss a god" lingered in my mind long after I finished reading, making me wonder about the price of growth, responsibility, and power.

A unified peace comes at a cost. The people of Teton move slowly forward toward integration, but centuries old actions are coming to the fore.
As has been the case throughout the series, multiple forces are at work: Blend and Tet relations, the evolution of the Lumins, and now other groups within the Megas with their own ambitions.
The author maintains a careful hold on political and economic intrigue, history and societies. New battles and enemies emerged throughout, creating rich multi layered story.
Great series and the world building just keeps getting better.

There is an uneasy truce between the Blends and Tetons, as long as the Blends have the support of the Lumin and their off-world allies. However, the whole planet faces global catastrophe if the northern group of Tetons are able to utilise its resources to open up a route to an unspoilt world. It is up to Kip to prevent this and he will need more power than any human can wield. While some may find how this happens disturbing, suspension of personal beliefs makes for an exciting book with a satisfying ending.

Watching Kip and the Luminara evolve has been fun. These are such great characters and the world building is pretty spectacular. There are some extremely satisfying bits that take place where some bad Tets finally get what's been coming to them. There are also quite a few surprises! I love how this story-world has evolved and can't wait to read the next one.
