This book was clearly written with the bereaved in mind.

Cynthia lost her beloved son to addiction several years ago and has done the work to find her way back to herself through the weight and fog of grief. She’s here to sit with those, fresh in their own grief, to share her experiences and what has been helpful for her journey. Each chapter also includes helpful reflection questions and resources for anyone who needs them.

This book isn’t just for those walking through grief. Cynthia also includes some helpful advice for those who have a grieving loved one who may feel at a loss for what to say or do to show support.

Beyond The Darkness is a quick and easy read, with less than 50 pages. This makes it easy to digest during a time when it can be hard, if not nearly impossible, to take anything in at all.

If you are navigating your own grief journey, or love someone who is, you will find this book to be a helpful, and hopeful, resource.

Relatable

If you have lost a loved one please give this book a read. Reading someone else's story helps you to reflect on your own. Knowing your feelings are valid, that your grief can be all over the place and that healing is possible. This book also gives you tools to use to help reflect on loss, your journey and your love for the one you have lost. I was crying by page 3 reading of the loss they experienced but can relate to the feelings and stages of grief and how they are not linear and come and go. This book has changed my view on someone I miss deeply from loss to the love I have for them and continue to have even though they are gone.
