As an adult reader, I was impressed by how much substance this book contains beneath its playful surface. The early chapters establishee Ozzie as a lovable performer surrounded by supportive friends like Delphia and Reggie. His show at Reef Shark Arena is one of the highlights of the novel, especially when his natural octopus abilities become part of his act. The abrupt interruption of that performance by the fishing net marks a turning point that completely changes the story's direction.

Octopuses are intelligent and honestly some of the weirdest animals in the ocean, but that is what makes them so interesting. In The Amazing Octopus by Michael Zanetti, we are introduced to a very intriguing and talented octopus called Ozzie.
Ozzie the octopus was multi-talented. He loved to entertain other sea creatures with his different tricks. During one of his shows, he was captured by a net. With no escape in sight, Ozzie’s life took a turn. Jake, the fisherman who caught Ozzie, discovered that he could do tricks. He introduced him to Arman The Entertainer, who turned Ozzie into a star. Seeing how the ocean and his fellow sea creatures were affected by pollution, Ozzie became a voice to help people understand why it is important to take care of the ocean.
This book is really fun to read, mostly because of the way it is written. Zanetti uses a funny and playful writing style that makes it easy to enjoy. The writing is not complicated, instead it felt like someone was telling me interesting facts while trying to make me smile. I also love the jokes in the book. They are simple but funny.

One of the things I appreciated most about The Amazing Octopus was how much personality the author gave to the underwater world.
