A celebration of the popular soap opera's twenty-fifth anniversary shares profiles of its major cast members, interviews, and discussions of themes and plot lines
Since All My Children will be going off the air soon I wanted to be able to remember some of the story lines that made me a fan of this show in the first place. It does a great job of going through 25 years of history and some behind the scenes stories.
Back in the day, summers were spent watching AMC, One Life to Live and General Hospital. When I spotted this book at a thrift store, I had to buy it. The best thing is it details every plotline from the first 25 years. Tara and Phil? yep Chuck and Donna the teenage prostitute? yep Phoebe and Langley? yep not to mention Tad the Cad and my teenage favs-Jenny and Greg and Jesse and Angie. Sure there were the Erika storylines, but what AMC so watchable was the character actors. This was a fun nostalgic read.
It was so great being able to look at the first 25 years of All My Children. After I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, this became appointment television for me while I was at home recovering. I loved looking at the different storylines of the soap that I was not able to watch because I had not been born yet.
This blast from the past was amazing to read! My all time favorite soap, so the memories and nostalgia definitely hit differently. Loved the book. I’m glad I own it because I’m sure I’ll read it multiple times.
I started reading this book in light of the show being canceled from ABC.... And it is a great book that covers up until the mid 90s... It is so much fun to read the arc of the Erica Kane from misunderstood Daddy's girl to vixen to vamp... Well worth a read and a great memorial to the show.,
