Lexi has always been an avid reader and at a young age started reading (secretly) her mother’s romances (the ones she was told not to touch). She was the only teenager she knew of who would be grounded from reading. Later, with a pencil and a note book, she wrote her own stories and shared them with friends because she loved to see their reactions. A Texas transplant, Lexi now kicks her boots up in the Midwest with her Yankee husband and her 80 pound puppies named after vacuum cleaners.

Reread November 2020

Still a wild ride even after multiple rereads.

Reread February 2019

Gets me every time...

Reread June 2018

Still intense the second time around.

Originally read October 2017

The time has come, war is eminent and Brian, Tristan and Ushna have sealed their bond. Betrayal is close and it hurts...deeply. The gods and goddesses are here and Tristan has been proclaimed the King. It's time for the children of Tiamat to be free.

If you follow me at all, you know I have been blowing through these books and loving them all. This one is no different. I highly recommend it if you are a MM/MMM fantasy lover. It's filled with Sumerian mythology with gods, goddesses and creatures...including

I'm going to be sad to see it end. But...on to book 6...

Dear gods, how to sum up this book…

It kinda does a rewind, in the first bit of this story. Tristan is dead (but not really), and Ushna is left with the triplets and a whole lot of grief. While he can occasionally feel the pull of his lover, he does not want to put too much hope in that. But he cannot just sit around and mourn. There is an army at his gates, a spy in their midst, and without Tristan the throne has fallen to their infant sons.

To say that things were a mess would be an understatement. But even when Tristan returns from his little jaunt with the gods, things only get worse. And a whole lot more complicated. Tristan, his consort, and his people mush prepare for battle all the while trying to solve the puzzle of Daniel and his meddling goddess.

Wow, ok. Yeah, this has to be my favorite of the series so far…and not just because Ushna, Tristan, and Brian are finally all together in one place.

There are dragons. Fucking dragons (well, not actually fucking dragons, but you know what I mean). I was so happy to see what has become of these guys. And dragons are awesome, so you can’t beat that.

Except you can. Because Lexi Ander pulls a few switch-a-roos in this book, and you never can know now who you can trust. Which made for a really great read. Even if I wanted to punch a certain person in their “I know best” face. But for all that some things come out of left-field, a lot of it has been building for some time. We finally get a few answers to questions plaguing us for several book. Not that everything gets solved, but it was enough that the unsaid made me long for book six (whenever the hell that is coming out), not grumble over all the cliff-hangery aspects of this series.

And this one was actually less of a cliff hanger than normal. It has a decent wrap up, and while there is certainly enough there to make you want to come back, it also doesn’t leave you handing by the tippity tips of your fingers.

Like normal, there is lots of action in this book. Lots of tense moments where you are not quite sure if someone is going to die (and after the last few books, I honestly don’t know if Lexi Ander wouldn’t do that just to mess with us). With everything finally slotting into place for the grand finale, the book keeps ramping up the action and the tension. There are some pretty big pay-outs though, so the tension is well worth it.

I grow more in love with this series as it goes on. It is definitely one that you have to read from the beginning, though. And if you get the chance, I would just marathon read the whole series at once, since I always have the ‘who the fuck is this god’ moments when I pick up the new book after so many months away from the world. I will say that this book did a much better job of handling the myth aspects this time ’round. I was confused a significantly less amount.

Now I am just impatiently waiting for the yet unnamed book six to come along.

This series is killing me. It's so fantastic. Why can't other M/M/M fantasy series be more like this?! It might actually convert me (though I highly doubt it. This insanity is a one time deal, and boy is it worth it!!!)

Finally one of these books end on less shaky footing. I could even say that was a "happy" ending, if you will. So much went down, and all of it for the good of the Tribes, our kings, their children, and even the gods (although some of them will not like the outcome. I am overjoyed. *snarky laugh*)

As usual, still loving ALL the characters, and the consistent, mind blowing, delicious world building. However, now that I've really gotten the opportunity to meet a certain character... asdfghjkl Brian. Holy freakin Brian, man! I identify with Brian to such an extent that it's almost comical. The entire second half of the book, I was legitimately reading solely for his scenes because he is AWESOME. XD If anything happens to him, I will actually chuck this book into a furnace and watch it burn. Little badass cannot be tamed. Kick ass, babe. <3

The fifth volume of the epic ‘Sumeria’s Sons’ series is a turning point as well as a new beginning for the lycans and other species of a paranormal world that successfully blends Sumerian legends and werewolf lore into an ever-growing, fascinating tapestry of story threads. It begins where book four ended, with Tristan’s apparent death, and follows Ushna through the difficult days, weeks, then months of mourning. Old and new enemies wrangle for positions while the various gods follow their own plans. I was breathless with anticipation during most of the book, wanting to see Tristan returned to life, Ushna avenged, and possibly even Nikita/Brian finally join them. The sense of a major battle ahead is pervasive, and the level of betrayal from very unexpected quarters kept things interesting.

I can't even begin to tell you what a phenomenal series this is!!!!!! There is so much action, angst, treachery and love going on you can't help but become addicted to this series. There are a lot of characters mentioned which I actually started keeping a log of because I'm such a geek. Lol
The author does a great job reminding you who the Gods are and their special job so it's not hard to follow. My heart went out to Ushna not knowing for sure where Tristan was and having the responsibility of the pups that were just born. I have to say

This is one of the stronger installments in this series, which is a pleasure to see. I hope the author has a vision of the whole story arc in mind, and that she's working towards that end. Earlier in the series, it felt a bit like fan fic that is posted a bit at a time, with new plots and characters added at the author's whim, with no overarching plan. There is a lot of myth and folklore within this tale, and the author is getting a bit better at weaving it into the story.

There were several important developments that finally came to pass in this book, items I've been waiting for through at least 2 or three of the previous ones, so it gave the story more of a feeling of completion than some of the earlier books. The scene with the gods added some needed closure while setting up the final confrontation. Now I'll have to wait impatiently for the next book to be published!

I do not typically do reviews for books I give 4 stars, because +/- 1 star still puts it in "probably worth reading". I am going to list some thoughts on the ENTIRE series for future reference.

1st and foremost, I feel books 1 and 2 should have been combined into 1 book. Nearly all of my issues with book one would have been fixed if they were combined. It made so much more sense after finishing book 2. Plus, I think combined they would not have been longer than books 5 or 6. So... If you were not thrilled with book one, I highly suggest reading book 2 before deciding on giving up on the series. If 2 had not already been out, I might not have continued. I'm really glad to have read this entire series.

2nd, Unless you have a great memory, I highly suggest you read these back to back. The entire series is out. I felt it got mostly stronger as it went along.
(* Even reading back to back, due to the sheer number of characters plus characters with similarly spelled names, I was glad I was reading on my Kindle. It was easy to run a search for a name to be reminded of who they were etc...

3rd,I thought the progressions for the characters and the overall plot moved well. It never felt repetitive except where it should, like when reminding the reader what has happened previously.

4th, I really liked the concept of shifter cowboys.

5th,the world building was extremely strong.

6th, those that do not typically like m/m/m or mpreg, please consider giving this series a chance. It is not the main focus until really late in the series, and it is done really well. FYI, for me personally, I can take or leave either one. Not something I look for neither am I really opposed to it.

7th, I did think the proofing / editing seemed to be not as strong. I noticed my flow being disrupted more often, but never enough to hamper the enjoyment.

8th, I felt the final book wrapped up all major things and most minor things very well. It definitely ended on a HEA for our m/c's and most supporting characters too.

9th, the only thing that gave me pause in the whole series was the brother's storyline, especially in the last book. It wasn't poorly written or necessarily out of character, but I did think his twist could have been better supported or explained. To me, It did feel more conjured for the plot than organic, if that makes sense.

This was a really good series. That definitely should be read in order, and as mentioned earlier probably back to back. The plot never gets stale or meanders inappropriately. All central things are moved along well and tied up by the end. Well worth the read if you like shifters, mythology, royalty, epic adventures etc...

WOW! Best yet! Almost 300 hundred pages of none stop action, emotion, passion, dreams, reality, betrayals, friends formed and lost.

As they say, The show must go on. So even though Ushna knows Tristan is lost but not dead he must continue. For the pups, for Theo’s kids. For the greater good. But as the months slip by, Ushna slips more and more into a deeper despair and we can feel his pain, he’s losing weight, only focused on the pups and not really the goings on around him. Until his hand is forced, and he must make a decision, luckily just in time.

The reunion of Tristan, Brian and Ushna is bitter sweet and short lived with all the battles and back stabbing going on. Its hard for these three to figure out who to trust and to have a minute to themselves. But one thing is for sure, the love and connection between them is pure and solid. You can feel it, almost see it coming off the pages.

Corey, plays a big roll is this book, and we finally find out what happened to his twin flame. Gregori is also set up for his big something, I hope.

Even though you’ve got a lot of players, no one really new. But just like all of Lexi’s novels they are detailed and intense and command your attention. The plot, sub plot, players, secondary and even third tier charters are important or she wouldn’t put them in. From the nurse maids to the drangonets. (BTW, so cute and I want one) We are left with another cliffy, one we should have seen coming but somehow didn’t, idiot! (me)

Continue to still love this series

Rating: 4.5 stars

This is once again another great addition to the Sumeria's Sons series. The thing that I loved about this book in particular was we get to see things from multiple perspectives. In addition to Tristan, we also get Ushna's and Brian's point of view.

I loved the addition of the little dragonet. Nathan on the other hand, I wanted to strangle. I am very curious to see where they are going with his character. I am really hoping that he redeems himself somehow in the final installment.

This book once again leaves us with so many dangling plot points. I am really looking forward to the final installment. It will be interesting to see how everything is wrapped up. As with the others in the series, this is not a stand-alone and should be read in sequential order. I do highly recommend this series and this book in particular.

I had to drop at this one. I love the series but not even half way through the book I lost all interest in it.
There been scenes that dragged out your last patience but important one that been left out completely.
Not to mention I could hardly follow the strange time frame. Half way through the chapter, you realize that 3 months passed, 3 passages later, it's suddenly 8 months.
I stopped reading it because I enjoyed the other books and I didn't want to diminish them because of this one.

Can’t wait for more

4.5 ⭐️
This one is the best of the series. I liked the fact that it had multiple POV’s as we really got to see things from everyone’s perspective. I liked that Tristan and Brian both remembered all of their past lives even the ones that they weren’t nice people. I wonder how Ushna will be changed.
All the threads are starting to come together and I can’t wait to read the final book and see how it all plays out

4.5 stars - I loved that the three finally came together! I was surprised by the betrayals committed. So much was going on in this book, just like the others in the series. Definitely not a dull moment. I also love that it ended on a positive note even with battles looming. I'm so glad I am able to read the final book soon!!

Oh my stars this is the best book of the series I've read yet. My heart broke all over again as we watch Ashur put Tristan into the earth from Ushna's point of view. Then we meet Séana in her full form as she guards over the shattered Ushna and all the of his pups, including naming Astar.

I could understand the concerns on who to trust after Tristan was lured to the prison of Mithra and the he-boar Verethragna by Daniel in hopes of killing Tristan and stealing his infants to open the King's Tomb. What was heart breaking the most was WHO the betrayer ultimately turned out to be.

But all is not lost as Tristan and Brian both swear their loyalties to Tiamet, and are "reborn" in her Sanctuary fully grown and Tristan bearing the titular gift of their Goddess, his eye and missing fingers replaced with dragon parts. Brian is a full grown man despite his murder at the age of eleven at the hands of Daniel's father. We also learn what causes that distinctive carrion smell to Daniel.....and that not all True Bloods hate the Lycans.

The ending is not nearly as dramatic as previous books though it's certainly intense in and of itself. But I'm mentally preparing myself for the battles ahead in book six.

Book five, here we go!

Okay so whatever you do don’t accidentally skip book four and start reading book five. These stories flow one into the other and you need to read them all, in order. My mistake made me panic in a major way, but I swear it’s fine now. As I’ve said before the books are great the characters are amazing and I can’t stop. I really appreciate the growth throughout the series, sometimes authors start off with too much world specific lingo that’s hard to follow. These have grown organically and I’ve never felt lost in the world of the story. Highly recommend.

Review can be read at It's About The Book

Ushna and his three babies are waiting. Everyone magically bound to Tristan believes he lives, but after watching Ashur bury an almost dead Tristan in the ground Ushna isn’t doing well. Politically, things are not going well, either. And one of the babies is a funny color. Things just aren’t good. Then Tristan comes back, and even though all the other problems still exist Ushna isn’t alone. Tristan finds himself much changed after his return. He also finds the people around him changed. The changes in Ushna are sad and understandable, the changes in Nathan are upsetting. The reappearance of Brian just adds more things to the mix. Brian and Ushna aren’t really sure how they feel about each other. They know being together again is wonderful, but they don’t know each other. As he assumes more and more control over the Lycan race Tristan learns of more and more betrayal. These three men certainly have their work cut out for them.

Every installment of this series contains at least one major shift. Political situations or characters or both change drastically. Nathan turned out to be the same guy he always had been. Theo is going to be given a chance to be the guy he should have been. Interesting things are happening and there will be both no redemption and redemption.

The dynamics between Ushna and Brian were quite good. I like that these two spent a lot of time thrown together without Tristan. They were given a good opportunity to start building a relationship that was more than Tristan being a bridge between the two of them. I also liked that Ushna had been thrown by his loss of Tristan and was not the take charge guy he had been in the past. Ushna had some clingy and fearful moments. Tristan paid lip service to them then went ahead and did what he wanted to do anyway. Which was totally a Tristan thing to do. In short, characters’ actions and reactions were good and have remained consistent over the course of the series.

Every book in this series is chockablock with information. What impresses me most is it doesn’t feel like an info-dump. Maybe I just really want to know what’s going on. At this point we seem to have most of the information we need, and there really isn’t much mystery left about who is doing what. It’s been the same baddie harassing the Lycans for their entire existence. Finally, Tiamat’s plans are coming together. My guess would be she loves it when a plan comes together.

I like this story because it's pretty interesting, but I have a lot of problems with it.
My main problem is that parts of it seem to come out of nowhere. This series started off as a a werewolf novella love story. Now the books are full length and the main character is a dragon Demi-God with two lovers. ...What? I really dislike how much the story has changed. There's been no lead or build up. The change just happens. The series really isn't even the same series any longer. A sign of a good author is that they can create twists in their stories that you didn't see coming but at the same time can look back and see the clues that were dropped along the way. Lexi Ander didn't do this. She just made a change in the story and didn't drop any clues beforehand.
I don't like how normal characters were suddenly thrust into the role of being immortal creatures themselves. Twice now that's happened. It's like everybody in this story has to be "somebody."
I really hate how Nathan is just made into a villain out of no-where. Ander made him into a bad guy because she could, not because she should have. His apparent happiness explained at reuniting with his brother in the first book is just thrown out the window as a "lie"? I call bullshit.
I dislike in general the inconsistencies between the books and topics or details mentioned that are never brought up again or explained.
I also have a question. So if the first son born to the king dies without producing an heir, then...the whole line is dead? That's it? One person? It wouldn't revert to the next in line? People die....that happens, accidentally, without assassins. And Ander is trying to tell me that not once, in thousands of years, did the eldest child/king die without producing a child? Umm....no. I don't get why it wouldn't revert to the next in line. What's the point of a royal family if no one else in that family is royal?

This book was a hard one for me to rate since I went ahead and read the next book before sitting down to review this one. When I first finished this book I wasn't blown away by it. I was happy to finally see a continuation of the series but this book in many ways changes the how series feels.. The last book hinted at some big changes and this book sweeps in a basically knocks away a lot of what was built up in the first couple of books. For me the story weaves out a lot more plot lines that I wasn't sure were going to be dealt with. A lot more characters were added into the already huge cast making it all the more likely that some would be sidelined and many wouldn't be fully fleshed out. To me I think that this book added too many new character and plot lines to fully do justice to the character and have a good resolution to the story. I like the first few books because they focused on Ushna and Tristan connecting me to the characters and their story. This book starts what to me the next book finishes in dragging in so many new characters and plots in diverting me to the huge cast of characters that I just don't care as much about. It feels like a little bit late in the series to start spinning all this out now. I like this series and I do like some of the moments in this story. But I feel like this is trying for an epic fantasy story feel without having to length and story base to build on.

The world this author made was amazing and the authors writing was so good!
Now is when I tell you do not make the same mistake I did and read this as a stand alone. Because I was honestly so lost and I had no idea what was going on.
I wished I would have read the other books in this series first because this book was so good! I love all things paranormal so reading about dragons and Lupe's with there mates battling their enemies with a story this good was awesome.
You get Ushna who is left alone with their pups when Tristan and Brian are in another realm after being seriously hurt.
Eventually the two come back to Ushna and Brian claims Ushna so all three are complete together.
You get a lot of action and some steam with all three in this book.
You could really feel the love these three had for each.
There were a lot of different characters in this book and a decision Ushna had to come to at the end of this book which I was happy he did.

So all together I really loved this book and even though I was so confused and a little lost I will still give this 5 stars for how much I loved these characters and this world this author built.

I would definitely recommend this book but read the other books first.

I've tried, and I think this is the last of this author I'm going to read. I love the concept of the series, and gave it a B- on All About Romance earlier this year, but yeah, I'm done now.

Things I have a problem with:
There is no sense of time passing, in both this book and the previous one. But there's still a lot of time passing. It's confusing.
There's so much introspection going on that I got honestly got kinda bored. The moments of action aren't very exciting, and the rest is talking about what has happened, what will happen, and all the feelings. There's no balance.
The names of the gods and goddesses, along with the cultural references, are so incredibly confusing. I like that the series takes its influence from the Middle East (and Egypt, to some extent), but I have no idea who or what we're talking about half the time.
There are so many loose ends, between this and the previous stories, that I could make a fringe skirt. Or a 20s flapper dress.

Overall, the story still isn't bad, but it really doesn't work for me anymore. It's sad. I wanted it to.

2 out of 5 stars. The basics are good, but between the pacing and the writing, I'm just "eh."

This story has gotten better and better with each installment. And this one brought in whole new elements while wrapping up a few threads that had been dangling for awhile. There's a slight rewind at the beginning of this story to show Ushna's side of the things after Tristan's "death." I really felt for him and the pain he was dealing with after the birth of his and Tristan's triplets, the loss of his mate, and the tease of knowing something is telling him Tristan is still out there. He's barley hanging on trying to keep everything together long enough to get Tristan back.

I really enjoyed the dynamic with Brian brought into the mix. It did feel like finally Tristan and Ushna were complete to have the third they were always supposed to have. This closes out the set up of this story. All the pieces are in place for the final confrontation and you can feel it building.

And now their's DRAGONS!!! Dragons!!! I have to say I love dragons. I'm so curious to see where all of this is building too. One more to go!
