What if bad guys ruled the world and the good guys were the outlaws?
I’m Chaos, patch member of Outlaw MC of Mars. We fight against the government’s warped rules under the guise of hover bike enthusiasts. Gays are put to death. Women are used for breeding. Dark-skinned men are considered slaves. I told you our world is messed up and the battle is going to be bloody. I’m currently on my way to Earth for a six-month prison sentence. Level six is for sex, a twisted buffet of ass and mouth. Level five is for the fights. That’s where I shine.
Beau is a sexy Hispanic man that’s too goofy to play with the big boys. He was loaned to me for some quick, naked fun. But it turned into something else. I don’t do relationships because of my past. My father was a serial killer. But it seems that now, I have a boyfriend. It’s complicated.
Beau is released from prison before me. Can I survive three months without his calming touch? Will he survive on Mars amid my dangerous and violent club without me?
I'm a masturbation expert (true story, I'm single) and I write unique stories. If you're looking for a plot that hasn't been done before check out my books. I currently write m/m but one day I'll venture into m/m/f territory. I'm bi-sexual. I love animals and I've always wanted to paint nude men. Feel free to friend me on Facebook or Goodreads.
**I get so many emails from people who are surprised I read hetero when I’m gay. Well, I’m actually bi and yes, I read many genres. Reading to me is an escape. I’m not at work, staring out the window wondering what the sun would feel like on my face. I’m reading about another world, up in space, vampire or shifters, even just another place on this planet. Hetero, gay, bi, whatever. All that matters to me is the effort that was put into a story and how the characters work to entertain me. **
This was not what I was expecting, and I mean that in a good way.
The futuristic/sci-fi-ish world that's been created here is brutal and unforgiving, but also quite fascinating and, sadly, not all that far-fetched in the realm of possibilities.
The characters were also likeable, if slightly underdeveloped, and their relationship was just steamy and sweet enough to leave me wanting more!
Chaos Unchained is a really solid start to the Outlaw MC series and I'm certainly intrigued enough by what I've read here to continue with the series at some point.
3.25 Hearts--"Chaos Unchained" is the first book in James Cox's new series about futuristic bikers. It's the year 3001 and the earth's population lives on Mars. Mostly, Earth has become home for criminals. They're jailed and forced to mine minerals for Mars. Good guys are considered bad and vice versa. It's illegal to drink, be homosexual, have darker skin (in fact slavery comes back). The future is disgusting.
Chaos, a member of the Mars Outlaw MC, is sentenced to Earth prison for six months for drinking alcohol. Chaos likes to fight and is usually angry. Sounds like he'll be a bundle of joy in jail, right?
He fights but falls for a fellow inmate named Beau. Beau is a little slow on the uptake but the book is short...so he follows Chaos' "fat dick" program. For the weeks they spend together, they jump straight into love, fast possessive love.
This story is slightly grittier than Cox's usual fare. He maintained his usual simple , erotic tone. The story is very easy to follow along. It's not my favorite from him but I'm curious enough to read the rest of the series.
I love prison set romances. The Earth prison was different- there was a level just for sex...any and all kinds of man-on-man options. Beau and Chaos have some baggage but the story read pretty light for me. There were a few typos & continuity issues (ex. Beau's in prison for saving a darker skin man from being attacked by his stepfather...but he states his father died before he moved to Mars with his mother. His mother was so heartbroken she died in a few days after his father died. When did she find the time to find Beau a stepfather?)
Overall, the story is hot and easy on the eyes. There wasn't much MC action since the majority of the story is set in prison. If you want a quick story and the Cox's style (it is fun), this might be a story worth checking out.
An awesome book to start a new COX series. One thing that the COX is really good at (well he's good at A LOT of things) but my point here is, he's really good at world building. Especially for a novella length story. Just enough and not too much. It's not over complicated, it's told in a way that easy to follow and there is a ton of information in a few words. I love it.
Chaos is a bad ass sexy beast and Beau is pretty much adorable. I loved how Chaos wasn't overly impressed with him at first glance and then Beau smiled and that was it. Considering the setting and the struggle to survive, Chaos is actually one romantic Outlaw Biker. I was sold with Beau's dimples too.
I hope these two make appearances in the upcoming books.
Oh ya! Dirty, gritty and erotic mm short story by James Cox
The MC is cocky... ; )
But, of course, everyone was looking at my dick. I was bigger than most men. My pubic hair was dark and trimmed neatly. My tip had folds of foreskin. It was rising between my legs, curving at all the eyes on my cock. My balls were low hangers and swinging slightly because, let’s face it, I was horny. When was I not? I had three guys staring at my junk like it was the cock of a god. Most days I liked to think it was.
Yep, I highly recommend reading the Outlaw MC book series!
It’s the year 3001 (no, really!), and Earth and Mars have performed a home world switcheroo of sorts. Earth = mining and prison, Mars = home, unless you’re anything other than a white, powerful male, and then you’re just a commodity or illegal. Right away, my not at all inner geek was perking up.
Enter Colin Taylor, aka Chaos.
If you’re squeamish about language, I just gave you fair warning. These guys are all roughnecks of one flavor or another. As someone who doesn’t shy away from and, in fact, enjoys the vulgar speak, even I flinched a couple of times. But this is Chaos and how he thinks and what he says, along with every other prisoner, “guard”, and fellow MC member.
Just as blunt as the language is the writing style itself, and it mostly works for this story. There’s depth here, too. Vulnerability and uncertainty thrum beneath the bravado and brute strength. It’s not buried under denial, but instead it’s just as much a part of this upside down existence in which these people have found themselves living. There’s more going on here than what’s visible on the surface, in every sense.
This story mostly takes place in one of those combo mining-prisons. It’s funny, looking at some of the details, I wouldn’t see this as a read for which I would normally reach. This is where those layers come in. At the half way point, I was curious, and not too much had been given away. I kinda couldn’t stop reading.
And Beau, he intrigued me most of all. He had the same effect on Chaos.
There are incorrect words used in some spots, as well as missing or additional punctuation and other errors. My guess is most of this is due to having read an advanced copy, but there were enough to cause pause.
Lest I have you thinking this is a snooty snoot-fest with an attitude of elbow patches and spectacles run amok, fear not. Fighting and fucking, that’s what we have here. Both are described in energetic detail, always in motion. The guys doing the F&F are interesting, their personalities taking shape as time moves forward.
This is fluff and sex disguised as tough guy bikers and criminals and fighting. The one exception is the widespread suppression that is a part of the current Mars culture. However, not much time is spent on this. The sexy times are actually sweet twixt Chaos and Beau, while stark and brutal during the prison scenes. This is future-fantasy with grit and love and hope… and erections. ;)
Have fun with this one, I did. I plan on reading the next one. :)
I like the shameless and mothaeffin sexy Chaos and all but, we are all the other bike scenes? There is one, but I was expecting more. I'm not sure if this is a great starter for a series. It seemed that Book 2 was a better series starter.
But hey, Chaos and Beau were hot. I liked them. I liked the book. :D
This book surprised me. When I read the synopsis, I expected more hot raw gay sex and not sweet, gentle passionate gay lovemaking. Though there are times that there my hunger for sweaty animalistic man on man pillaging were sated in this work I wasn't expecting vivid, touching, tender moments between the main character and his mate. This book is a nice blend of the hard and soft sides of sex and gives the underlying message that even the most tough can find their romantic equal. It was a nice surprise. I'll definitely be reading more of series in the future!
This book is set in 3001, Mars is now the home planet and Earth is a desolate planet, nothing more than a huge mining colony and prison. The government is ruled by the dangerous and twisted Max Wexmen, a man who has created an unfair system, a system where alcohol, drugs and even smoking is illegal, women are for breeding and slavery is back if you're dark-skinned. This book follows Chaos, a patch member of the Outlaw MC of Mars who's on his way to Earth having received an automatic six month sentence for illegal alcohol. Earth is a huge mining colony worked solely by the prisoners so Chaos expected to find himself mining but he finds out things run differently, the guards control the perimeter and the yard but the inside is governed by Murphy and Damien, only the ugly and sick do the mining the rest either fight or are used for sex, luckily Choas fights and fights well. On the surface this is nothing more than a futuristic MC book full of sex, more sex and swearing and it is until Chaos meets Beau and then amongst all this it manages to be deeper, we see the vulnerability and we really start to care about the characters and I think that surprised me. Yes it's crude, nasty and the sex to story ratio is more than I generally like but somehow it all works, most of this is obviously set on Earth so I can't wait to start the next one 'Underneath his Armor' and get a taste of life on Mars.
I have to point out that Chaos Unchained is definitely more prison romance than motorcycle club romance. Readers first meet Chaos and enter this world while Chaos is still on Mars. He has been sentenced to six months on Earth (which is now a mining prison) for being caught with alcohol. This allows for the majority of the book to take place with Chaos and Beau in prison. The end portion of the last chapter takes place within the motorcycle club. In this dismal future alcohol among many other things are illegal with harsh punishments for offenders. Many of the things we have in everyday life are illegal in James Cox’s Outlaw MC world.
It’s not long after his arrival on Earth that Chaos is introduced to how his life will go for the next six months. There is an interesting hierarchy to this prison way of life. The few guards don’t care what the inmates do. The inmates either mine, hook themselves out, or they fight. Chaos immediately knows which option is right for him, he fights. It’s after his first fight that he meets Beau.
It doesn’t take long for Beau to become the balm that soothes Chaos. They make the most of the short time they have together. Beau only has three month of his four year sentence left. This concerns Beau a bit. He knows that once he is back on Mars he doesn’t have anywhere to go. He will be just another injustice homeless face. Mars and its laws and judicial system are full of flaws.
I think the set up for correcting the wrongs of this world has been touched on in the pages of this very sexy novella. At this point the motorcycle club aspect of the series has been barely touched on. The other members are briefly introduced. Their thoughts on making Mars a better place to live have been mentioned as with the person who must be brought down. I believe that these are the places that readers will be taken with future books in this series.
His name is Chaos. He belongs to a what seems like a futuristic motorcycle gang on Mars. He winds up in prison on Earth because he took one for the team. In prison, he shows why he is named Chaos when his inner demons are unleashed by fighting other prisoners. However, that is not all there is to this man. He meets what maybe the love of his life in Beau. Maybe Beau is what he needs to calm his inner beast.
This was a lot of fun. It is definitely a setup for more to come. There is a lot pack into a few pages, but there is a lot more that I want to know. Happily, no sex was spared in the writing of this story.
So you know those horrible self-insert fic we all wrote at the tender age of fourteen? This is what this story is. The character keeps walking around basically saying I'M SO BADASS, LET ME TELL YOU HOW BADASS I AM, ALSO I HAVE A BIG DICK. He pops boners all the time and has "a dark anger inside of him"... The worldbuilding is utterly absurd too. Seriously. Who cares about physics, biology, and a remotely plausible history of mankind? Definitely not James Cox.
Bonus points for the sheer hilarity, and for the character's genuine concern about issues of consent and sexual assault.
PS. This book also gets a special award for Unsexiest Stripper With A Glittering Dick Dance.
*Arc provided by Author* Fantastic start to a new series!! I really enjoyed, Chaos Unchained, it had me hooked from the start. I couldn't put it down until I was finished. I loved the characters and the story. The sex was HOT, it had the perfect amount of everything I love. I loved the world James created and the characters. With out giving to much aways, I'll leave this simple short and sweet. I recommend everyone to read.
This was a short quick read that I liked. On the planet Mars bikers are labeled lawbreakers while corrupt people run the planet. The government is intolerant of anyone or anything they see as a threat. Lawbreakers are banished to Earth to serve prison sentences for crimes they commit. Chaos meets Beau on Earth where he is spending 6 month for drinking which is illegal on Mars. Beau on the other hand was sentence to 4 years for trying to save a slave. Gays are put to death. Women are used for breeding. Dark-skinned men are considered slaves. This book was a short quick read. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Chaos’ father was a serial killer, which was a really interesting background. He fights those urges in himself to be that violent. So he fights in prison, not that there’s much to do. He meets Beau who is giving to him for pleasure. Beau is so freaking adorable! He had dimples and was extremely goofy. I instantly loved him.
Excellent start on a new series. Chaos and Beau are good characters to get the ball rolling and I look forward to seeing the rest of the gang measure up.
When I saw Chaos Unchained I was beside myself with anticipation, it ticked so many boxes that interest me in dystopian sci-fi. Unfortunately this book and I did not gel and I am pretty sure I spent most of my time reading Chaos Unchained with an inward grimace.
Set in the future, Colin Taylor AKA Chaos is sentenced to six months in prison. Chaos must leave his MC (fighting a corrupt government on Mars) to complete his sentence on Earth.
The thing is, there were moments of brilliance in this book and then it fell flat for me. Instead of being stark or visceral and engaging it just felt crass.
The blurb outlines that Chaos is a member of The Outlaw MC a brotherhood of hover bike enthusiasts fighting the injustice of a warped government. There is intolerance for gay relationships, gender inequality and slavery based on skin colour....Allegedly....in actuality I detected no sign of any of this throughout the book, only the briefest of nods towards it and no description. I feel cheated.
So, Chaos aims to be "a bad ass", there's a lot of macho posturing and staring competitions (to establish who is Alpha). Guess who? Chaos. Yawn.
The Earth prison, is apparently run pretty much by the prisoners where there is the choice to fuck, fight or mine. Of course our hero chooses to fight. Victorious, Chaos is offered Beau and the two men promptly fall in love. Well I am not buying it. I could not see the attraction, and referring to Beau as "goofy" on several occasions was beyond irritating. If a reason was given for this accolade, I missed it.
Don't even get me started on what 'population control' entails, no rhyme or reason for it.
The description of Chaos' constant carnal thoughts was tiresome. He's either making love to Beau or providing himself with hand jobs, and my own personal hate is describing ejaculate as 'cum'. In my experience when cum enters any descriptive piece, it is generally as poorly written as it is spelled.
I managed to complete Chaos Unchained hoping that it might improve and that the moments of brilliance might spark or that the prejudices mentioned in the blurb would be fleshed out. Instead I feel like I need a shower, it was crass and crude with no intensity or depth and limited world building. This book is a miss for me. My hopes were raised and then dashed and it was dirty instead of deep. I think it is highly unlikely that I will read any more of the Outlaw MC series. I applaud the concept, unfortunately the writing leaves me cold.
What an awesome start for a new series by James Cox! After reading the "Handsome"-series, I really was curious for this new series and couldn't wait to start reading. And I wasn't disappointed, in no way at all!! The environment the story is settled in is one rough and hard future, where the human population is settled on Mars and Earth is a "prison colony". Alcohol and drugs will be sentenced, gays have to fear death, black people are slaves and women are only there for breeding. The Outlaw MC is one adversary against the government to help people and safe some free will.. As usual the characters are unique, handsome, dark, tough guys but at least have a heart of gold and a longing to love and be loved in return one can hardly resist! So meet Chaos, one tough sexy biker of the Outlaw MC from Mars. Sentenced for drinking alcohol he has to stay 6 month in prison in earth. There he has to fight to survive. And then he meets Beau, sweet and innocent and just adorable in Chaos' eyes. Chaos falls for him though he fears his own past and his rough being aren't no good for the sexy young man. When his rage takes over no one would be safe and Chaos would hurt even the one he loves and wants, wouldn't he? But Beau touches something deep inside him....could he be the one? When Beau's time in prison is over and he has to leave Chaos fears to loose him. Will he survive the three months without Beau? Will Beau wait for him and meanwhile be safe? I loved each word of this story and can't wait to see and read more of this new world James has created us. The story leaves plenty room for more action to come and hopefully some sexy hot guys, too!! James' writing is sexy and unique as the hunks he writes about and I am more than happy I will get my monthly dose of 'Cox' again!!
Not gonna lie. I’m not a huge M/M reader, but this looked interesting enough for me to take a shot at it. Not bad, not bad at all…
Set in the future, Chaos is sentenced to serve time on Earth for a crime that…well, isn’t really a crime now (drinking), but in the future is. The only catch is that Earth is only used for mining in the future while everyone else lives on Mars.
There are these levels in prison, each one serving a different purpose. When in prison, you do 1 of 3 things, mine, fight or be used to “service” (I’d use a four letter word starting with F, but the censors wouldn’t like it). Being the badass that Chaos is, he’s obviously a fighter.
He finds himself attracted to one of the other inmates and his way of thinking/feeling is altered because of it. Beau makes Chaos a better man and he’s determined to make sure that Beau is taken care of when he gets out.
This was a super quick and easy read. Lots of curse words, which didn’t bother me one bit, but may bother others. I thought it was raw, to the point and “served” it’s purpose. I’m looking forward to the next one.
*I was given a copy of this book as a gift from The JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review.
From the supposed cost saving efforts of sending short-stay prisoners to Earth to the badly developed mine/fight-club (not to mention that weird predatory land-octopus released for "population control")...just, none of it made any sense how it was portrayed.
The sex wasn't even all that hot; just sort of ho-hum generic.
Yet another story added to the pile of reasons I wish there was a Remix/Redux for actual books and not just fanfiction.
This story has some interesting world building and I like the character of Chaos. We get enough of his backstory and for a short story he is well developed. The mix between violent fighter and his softer side with Beau is a big draw. Unfortunately this is a short story and with the world and characters just feels like it should be a full book. This book give tantalizing snippets of Chaos's past, the world around him, and the demons that ride him, yet there is not enough time to explore them.
Chaos Unchained starts off a new series by author James Cox and incorporates a quick read that is sensual, erotic, and at times tender. But, don’t let that take away from the fact that this is primarily a prison story with a hardcore biker as its focus. The story starts with Chaos leaving Mars for Earth. There is minimal world building and the story has an insular feeling as most of the action takes place in the prison. Chaos’ primary goal is to survive, so he makes a name for himself in the fight ring. This gives him access to and protection over Beau. The story is told from Chaos’ first person point of view and it’s immediate and in the moment. For all his bravado, Chaos is a good guy at heart trying to do the right thing with the cards he has been dealt and the rules enforced upon him. There is a good balance of action, sex, public exhibitionism, and some raw emotion that catches Chaos by surprise. Since this is the beginning of the series, some more in depth world building as to what was going on with Mars and the government would have tied the overall story together. We are also introduced to the rest of the Outlaw bikers and, since there was little time for further exploration, it came across as a checklist of future MCs. As a whole, a great introduction to a new series with action, heat, heart, and a motorcycle club filled with strong men.
For some reason I read the second book in this series first. (I'm still not sure why I did that. Blonde moment perhaps??) Anyways......I liked book two but I liked this one better. It did a good job setting up the world and set the mood for series. I liked Chaos and Beau a lot and I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. There was more time spent on the couple in this one and I felt their love more clearly. As with the other book there were some smoking hot sex scenes. I like how there are some group/voyerism scenes(with other characters, not the MC's)as well as private times with the main couple in both books. That's a pattern I hope continues in the series. Off to see what the guys are doing (and who) in book three.
5 'This series has stayed with me long after I have finished and definitely deserves the upgrade to 5 stars' stars. Love the whole set in the future post apocolyptic storylines that Cox does so well, add in the bad guy good guy futuristic bikers, fighting the arsehole government and some fucking hot mm action with just enough sweet to make me swoon I'm loving this already.
