ANOTHER FAN WANTS THEIR MOMENT OF FAME AND WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET IT.
After Stormi Nelson's first mystery hits the NYT Best-Selling List, Stormi begins receiving threatening emails and is stalked by a clichéd person in a trench coat and hat. Her stalkers requests are straightforward; Finish writing her next book quickly, or face the consequences. When nothing Stormi does satisfies this unknown stalker, she and her best friend concoct a plan guaranteed to draw the stalker out of the shadows. While Stormi's boyfriend, Matt, isn't excited about the plan, he knows things must come to an end before the stalker makes good on one of their threats. Accidents, threats, and mishaps keep the reader turning the pages. Who will suffer the consequences of Stormi's plan first?
Multi-published and Amazon and ECPA Best-Selling author Cynthia Hickey had three cozy mysteries and two novellas published through Barbour Publishing. Her first mystery, Fudge-Laced Felonies, won first place in the inspirational category of the Great Expectations contest in 2007. Her third cozy, Chocolate-Covered Crime, received a four-star review from Romantic Times. All three cozies have been re-released as ebooks through the MacGregor Literary Agency, along with a new cozy series, all of which stay in the top 50 of Amazon’s ebooks for their genre. She had several historical romances release through Harlequin’s Heartsong Presents, and has sold close to a million copies of her works since 2013. She has taught a Continuing Education class at the 2015 American Christian Fiction Writers conference, several small ACFW chapters and RWA chapters. You can find her on FB, twitter, and Goodreads, and is a contributor to Cozy Mystery Magazine blog and Suspense Sisters blog. She and her husband run the small press, Forget Me Not Romances, which includes some of the CBA’s best well-known authors. She lives in Arizona with her husband, one of their seven children, two dogs, two cats, three box turtles, and two Sulcata tortoises. She has eight grandchildren who keep her busy and tell everyone they know that “Nana is a writer”.
Another good mystery. I read one of her mysteries last year or the year before and was thrilled when I recognized her name as the author of these books. It's so much better to read a mystery that is well written and well thought out so it doesn't have to contain smut to get readers' attention. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
A good read. Disappointed that it was only 88% of the page count. A plot of a stalker that gets increasingly more violent and determined as the story unfolds. The characters are getting more evolved and fleshed out. But frankly her sister and mother are starting to annoy me - they did not have to move in with Stormi. It was their choice (she wasn't even asked) and they are not paying anything for their upkeep. Thus leaving her with all the bills for five people. When emails start appearing telling her that she has to hurry up with the next book. She ignores. The emails get more regular and a stalker starts following her around town. The police have managed to find the locations from where the emails where sent but both are public places. Add in a car accident, the house being bugged a poisoning, a shooting, threats and break-ins. Will her plan regarding the novella work and draw out the stalker before they kill someone? A look at the enrol breakdown some people go through when they reach their breaking point.
I gotta say how much I'm enjoying Stormi and her crazy clan in the Nosy Neighbor Mystery series. They are cozy style mysteries, with just a touch of faith, and they are just so much fun to read, or as in the case of A Killer Plot listen to. Cynthia Hickey has a real winner in this quirky series! There's mystery, romance, and enough tasty sounding edibles that you can enjoy calorie free but still make you hungry anyway. I had a great time trying to guess the stalker's identity, I did partly figure it out but there were enough red herrings to keep me cheerfully distracted.
I listened to the audiobook version of A Killer Plot and I have to say that the production and sound quality and a well chosen narrator did perfect justice to Cynthia Hickey's book.
I sincerely enjoyed A Killer Plot and I am more than anxiously looking forward to getting my mitts on the next book in Cynthia Hickey's fun A Nosy Neighbor Mystery series.
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
First and foremost, I'm so excited that you mention God in your books. It is so refreshing and makes me happy. You use such interesting and original ideas. I love the characters too. They are endearing and have wonderful personalities. Thank you for writing this series. I have to go read the 3rd book now! God bless! Janet😃
I love the characters in the book and was hoping that Matt and Stormi would develop their relationship more in this book. But they didn't. I understand it is a Christian novel, but Stormi's mom is kind of annoying not even wanting them in the same room together. For goodness sake they are grown.
Over all the book was a slow read for me. It took a bit to get into it and then when the plot picked up towards the middle, it seemed to be lacking some creativity at the end.
Really good second book the characters were still as interesting as they were in the first book the storyline was good and there were some parts I actually laughed out loud others I couldn't wait to see what happen next, good writing
I wish Stormie wouldn't act so stupid I really liked this book and am looking forward to her and Mary Ann working together but come on when is Stormie going to learn! it's good thing she has her cop to save the day. this lady can get in trouble just breathing!
