He left his wife to rot in a Mexican prison. Now the only way to save her is at the bottom of the sea. Salvador was a cartel boss. The kind who moved product through three continents and never got his hands dirty. Then everything collapsed, and he ran — leaving Rosa to take the fall for all of it. She's been behind bars for years. The only thing that can buy her freedom sits inside a titanium case, locked in the cargo hold of a sunken narco ship called the Aguila Blanca. Fifty-eight meters down, in the pitch-black waters off the Tubbataha Reefs. He's assembled a crew on his yacht La Última Vez — The Last Time. A loyal old sicario who speaks in proverbs. An Italian divemaster who trusts physics more than God. A son who came not to help, but to watch his father fail. A girlfriend who thinks the whole thing is suicide. And a quiet Bajau maid who can feel things moving in the deep that the sonar can't see. She's the only one who knows something is already down there. Circling. Waiting. Guarding the wreck like it has for three million years. They're not alone at the bottom. And someone on the surface has spent fifteen years making sure that case never comes up.
DECO STOP is a deep-water thriller about guilt, redemption, and the things that hunt you when you stop running — some of them human, some of them ancient, and one of them sixty feet long.
This book was not a regular read for me as the style of writing was not something I had read in the past. Took me a bit to get into it, and at one point I even deleted it from my Kindle, but being an avid diver and rereading the description, I decided to go back at it with an open mind and glad I did. Looking forward to the second book in the series.
