My name is Emma Knight and I’m a twenty-four-year-old woman who was moving from Miami to New York to pursue my dream of attending Parsons School of Design. My plan was set in motion. I was packed and already on my way when I met a man and received an email, both of which altered my plans and changed the course of my life.
Max Hamilton, a twenty-five-year-old, panty-melting, rich playboy who was being groomed to take over Hamilton Securities, told me it was for only three months. His proposed deal was that I had to pose as his fiancée until his twenty-sixth birthday so he could collect his trust fund. I’d help him and, in return, he’d help me achieve my dream. It was a win-win situation, right?
WRONG.
Love was never part of the deal and neither was the secret that Max could never find out about.
Writing is my passion and my mission is to provide readers with romance novels that will whisk them away into another world and from the daily grind of life - one book at a time.
I admit the plot line drew me in... it seemed interesting but sadly that's where it ended. This story was horrible, the characters were awful and childish, always screaming at each other and acting like little kids. That heroine... man she was something else!! She took erratic mood swings to a a whole new level! And the hero, wow but he was a winner! What a waste of my Saturday afternoon! I want my money back.
There was so much about this that didn't work for me
- zero connection between the MC. - plot holes big enough to drive a tractor trailer through - time inconsistencies - enough weird dialogue that I got tired of highlighting all the WTF and "huh" moments.
The summary grabbed me but the story read like a draft. So many things that were unrealistic given the characters that Ms. Lynn developed. The story needed to be fleshed out and the inaccuracies rewritten. Concept good but execution lacking.
I love how the story started, they met only after a few pages and the deal happened just as fast! I like fast paced novels, where we don't have to wait chapters after chapters for a storyline improvement. So I could say that the story was already juiced up from the start.
I like the writing style. I like how the word flow and it was written in 1st Person POV so I got attached to the characters quite fast.
The storyline is good. It has sense, not just some shitty made up story that's totally used up or shallow.
The love scenes were good, I love the jealousy scenes though I hoped there was more drama. Before I started reading this novel I searched for the words 'C***, and Pregnant' and when it appeared, I was good to go. I like the story, though towards the end, I didn't breeze through but I just skipped some part. I was hoping for a few more dramas, maybe some ex stuff or whatever. It was pretty short for my liking but it's so much better than reading an 8 hour long novel that totally bored the hell out of me.
Good Story, Great writing style, good characters, it was worth it.
His Proposed Deal is another fantastic book by Sandi Lynn. This book has it all! HOT rich playboy (Max), beautiful girl pursuing her dreams (Emma), instant attraction, hot sex, pain, heartbreak, love and devotion. All would be well and good, but love and unexpected surprises were never supposed to be part of the deal. Sandi Lynn does an amazing job bringing this story together and making you both love and hate Max. This book has both panty melting sex and deep emotional loving moments that will make you swoon. Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. His Proposed Deal is a 5 star read for me!
Another Sandi Lynn book that just was not for me. Due to description and length of the book, I thought to give it a go and read.
Only thing I enjoyed about the storyline and characters was the steam and their sexual encounters. Otherwise the Characters fell flat and were dull and annoying at times.
I could go on and explain what did bother me about Max and Emma and more into the book but I don't want to waste a lot of time on this review so I'll just point out the worst thing in this story which is the TIMELINE not adding up!
Just one comment about how someone that has has unprotected sex because they are on the pill but then doesn't always take that pill, hmm..... Back to timeframe.....
Chapter 23- (Closer to the end of the chapter) Max sees Emma's belly and asks "when are you due?" Emma responds "Eight weeks"
Chapter 24- (First paragraph) 'A week has passed and I didn't hear a word from Max'. He sees her that day......
Chapter 25- As Emma's thinking about things, 'I hadn't heard from Max in a few days and I was ok with that'. That afternoon Emma has cramping.
Any thoughts how far along you think Emma is or how many weeks left of her pregnancy there are?
They get to the hospital and she gets asked "How far along are you?" Emma's response "twenty-eight weeks and I'm cramping really bad". A c-section is then performed.
Chapter 26- Dr Cooper tells Emma the outlook for her baby Sarah is good. "Her heart is perfect and she looks as good as can be expected for a twenty-eight week old preemie".
Chapter 28- The only time we get a little of Max's POV when he sees his parents, he says "A few days ago, Emma gave birth to our baby, two months early, and now my daughter is fighting for her life in the NICU."
Well if you are someone who doesn't really read word for word or focus on what your reading or don't think too much about how a scene is set and can easily not take notice, you probably won't find the above a big deal. I dislike books that make me think too much, I like being emerged into a storyline and for it to flow and not hurt my head trying to work it out.
On a positive note, at least I finished this one.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The premise really had me interested: a three month deal... she'd pretend to be his fiancé so that he got his inheritence/trust fund, and he'd pay her College tuition.
But...
The two main chatacters werr so unrealistic, unlikeable and uninteresting. They had absolutely no chemistry... and really no reason to actually like each other. Oh and the main female character? She was so bitchy and kind of... multiple-personality moody. I had whiplash from her moods.
The story went at super-sonic speed... just too fast. Barely 10% in and after three brief scenes together they were "f*cking and coming like a freight train". I kind of had whiplash again.
I cringed. I rolled my eyes. I gagged. I checked the blurb three times to make sure I'd picked up the right book. And at one point I think I had a mini vomit.
" I needed to keep my cool because it was taking every bit of strength I had not to tackle him to the ground and rape him."
This was one of the more romantic declarations. Yeah... it's THAT bad.
This could have been awesome if it just improved its pace and structure. .. and dialogue. Invested in some chatacter development a little, perhaps.
I read most of Sandi Lynn's books and I loved them all. But on this one I was disappointed. I'm sorry to write this. There were emotions (or just a little), it was very rushed - the story goes trough the pages like a train. The storryline was absoluttely predictible, no suprises. I have to say, for me it was lame and I couldn't wait to finish this one. I had this feeling, that this is not even a Sandi Lynn novel. But I have another one to read. I'm sure "A Love Called Simon" will do it for me, like the others.
This was so bad! How in the world did it manage to get such a high average rating?!?
While the premise sounded interesting, I found both the story and the writing really poor. The characters were unrealistic in the extreme, and I found absolutely no chemistry between them at all.
I actually cringed reading this. Rolling my eyes here.
The concept was good, but the book was rather poorly executed. The novel felt like barebones; it was a good outline, but not a finished novel.
There was a lot of telling rather than showing, and poor characterization. I didn't connect with, or even know much about the characters other than Emma. Also, huge chunks of dialogue were glossed over. In many parts there was a brief summary of the events that took place rather than experiencing the situation, and reading the actual dialogue. Events were lazily glossed over.
One of the most cringeworthy parts was the over the top insta-love and insta-friendship. There was no buildup of either, people were thrown together and suddenly head over heels for one another. It was simply unrealistic... The whole book was unrealistic.
Despite it's shortcomings, I enjoyed the dialogue and flow of the book. But I honestly think it's a detailed outline, not a finished book.
a lovely amazing read what a beautiful love story. Sandi Lynn failed to disappoint me again. I totally loved this story and couldn't put it down if you live a millionaire love story then buy this book now I can guarantee you won't put it down.
I really enjoyed this book. I was shocked, I thought for sure this was going to be just another corny book to occupy my time until I figured out what I wanted to read. However, I couldn't put it down. It was cute, and funny. I loved both the Hero Max and heroine Emma.
Max is a rich boy with daddy issues. He has a trust-fund coming to him only if he's married or engaged by his 26th birthday. Problem? Max's wants out from under dad's thumb and has no desire to ever settle down, plus he's turning 26 in 3 months. So he comes up with a solution.
Emma has struggled all her life and has finally saved up enough money to move to New York and attend school to fulfill her dream as a interior designer. She meets Max briefly in a club and the next day on the plane headed to New York. Problem? Emma has just received a voicemail on her way to New York that her student loan has be taken away and she needs money up front to attend school. Max, in a bind offers Emma her tuition if she pretends to be his Fiancé for 3 months.
Emma and Max were cute. I loved how they had a friendship first before any I love you's were said. Max did have moments but he really was kind to Emma, he made sure Emma knew she was worth everything.
I was sad when the 3 months were over. Yes, they did break up and Max's letter to Emma totally made me cry. But I'm a cry baby. They both get their HEA but how and when is for you to read.
I loved it, wouldn't mind if it turned into a series staring her friends or Max's sister. Overall I recommend the book.
This is one of those perfect books to read when you just need a pick-me-up, or you've finished reading a heavy-themed book and you need something that will brighten your mood. It's a standalone with an HEA. Max is a sexy millionaire playboy who refuses to ever settle down. Emma has worked hard to follow her dreams, specifically, to attend an Interior Design college in NYC. As soon as she settles in to her plane seat, she checks her email to find that the student loan she had obtained had fallen through and she has only days to come up with the money or her space in the class will go to someone else. Turns out the sexy guy she met in the bar the night before is also on her plane, and he desperately needs a fiancée by the time he turns 26 (in 3 months) in order to secure his trust fund. He offers to pay for her tuition if she agrees to pretend to be his fiancée for the next 3 months. The plan is that they will both walk away from each other after that. Neither of them realized that this "deal" would change their lives forever. Sure this book is formulaic and has an HEA, but sometimes we just want to read a book like this. I know I do! This book was an enjoyable, easy read with some angst but not too much. I loved Max and Emma's story and how their time together changed them and the events that ensued. I'd love to see a sequel come out of this, with the book focusing on Max's sister.
I liked this book, but I didn't love it like I hoped I would. I loved the story line and it has potential to be fantastic. It started out quite promising and really kept my attention, but then it just lost me. What really killed it for me was most of the conversations and actions in this book seemed forced and unrealistic. The author did to much telling and not enough showing. Everything took place at lightning fast pace and wasn't fleshed out. Their were a few secondary characters that didn't add anything at all to the story. IMO, if something or someone doesn't add anything to the story it/they don't belong. I'll say it again, Everything seemed forced. I liked the story, but I know in my heart, given the story line, it could've been a fantastic read. It's not a book I would read again.
This really didn't feel like a Sandi Lynn book. The characters... all of them... were underdeveloped, unlikable and completely impossible to relate to.
Not the best book by this author, if it’s the first one you read, do not be put off!!
Really liked the fake fiancée plot and was looking forward to a good read. Wow, was I disappointed.
Max is a 25 year old rich, entitled male whore. He had to be engaged to be married and settled before his 26th birthday to get his trust fund.
Emma comes from a single parent family who has worked to save enough to go to Parsons college in new york.
Emma is out with friends on her last night before going to new york and meets Max in a bar. He comes on to her and she turns him down. On the flight to new york, he bumps into her and swaps seats so he can chat on the journey.
Plane lands and you think ok, but then he grabs her in baggage reclaim and asks her to be his fake fiancée for 3 months and he will pay her college.
Bored yet? You will be, this is where it goes really downhill.
The storyline was awful, Max and Emma weren’t very likeable, I’m not sure who i disliked more. She was childish and got on my nerves and he was just a poor excuse for a man, who ought to have grown a backbone instead of blaming his sleazy lifestyle on his Dad.
So much time was spent on Emma moping and mooning and then the ending was very rushed.
I nearly stopped reading half way through but can say the 2nd half of the book was better than the first, just.
I was disappointed with this. I downloaded it because I am a fan of the author big time
I liked the premise of the deal but some of the other stuff didn't work for me: - no real chemistry or personal connection between Emma and max. He's rich but why did she fall for him? There were no ah! moments. Didn't feel like they were falling in love just having emotionally messy sex - the intro set up in Miami and the plane journey were just so unrealistic. It seemed stupid she went with that - again the sister turning up at the club, just unrealistic - same with all her friends following her from Miami to NY - same with the super model friend - they are multi billionaires with his trust fund at stake and the parents don't check her or the relationship out? Seriously? Never heard of FB? Very odd
Will keep reading her books as this is the first one that hasn't gelled with me and otherwise I've loved her books
I felt no connection to the characters and no investment in their relationship at all until about 60 percent.I never really got there. It was almost impossible to believe this was the same author that wrote the amazing forever series. That is still one of my favorites of all time and I'm sure I've read several thousand books. This book felt totally phoned in...I kept expecting it to get better and it just didn't. I'm still not sure this wasn't a ghost writer. Lol...but truly that is how totally canned it felt. How can the same writer create characters as amazing, lovable, sexy funny etc...as the blacks and their supporting cast and turn around and create such flat lifeless boring characters. It makes no sense to me. I gave it three stars out of loyalty and editing talent. I hate to say I felt it was a waste of my time and money.
Firstly wow, Sandi Lynn has done it again. His Proposed Deal is another amazing book by this author. I read it in one sitting, once I started I couldn't stop. I finished two days ago and I am still thinking about it, so much so I haven't read anything else yet.
I fell in love with Max and Emma's story. Both characters are strong willed and stubborn, a lot of times through the book those qualities had me laughing hard. This book had everything I wanted and more. Hot sex, emotion, laughter and an amazing story.
I didn't expect to cry but I did. Sandi always manages to pull emotion out of me in her writing.
His proposal starts off as a three month deal, they both didn't expect love, friendship and the bumpy road ahead.
