Ed Howlett delivers a wonderfully engaging detective story that feels both classic and refreshingly original. Dead Right has all the ingredients of a fantastic mystery novel-murder, secrets, hidden agendas, suspenseful investigations, and memorable characters. The writing style is rich and immersive, perfectly capturing the Edwardian atmosphere while keeping the pacing exciting throughout. I found myself deeply invested in uncovering the truth behind The Brotherhood of Light and trying to solve the mystery alongside Makepeace and Melbury. The humor woven into the darker moments made the story even more enjoyable and gave the characters real personality. One of the best things about this book is how unpredictable it is; every time I thought I had figured things out, another twist appeared. This is the kind of mystery novel that keeps readers hooked late into the night. I highly recommend Dead Right to readers who enjoy historical detective fiction, clever mysteries, and suspense-filled storytelling.
