3,5 en realidad, un libro entretenido que nos lleva a viajar por Australia y sus fascinantes paisajes.

He pasado un tiempo estupendo leyendo este libro. Ha sido un viaje maravilloso a Autralia y conocer las historias de cada personaje haciendo que te encariñes con todos y los sientas como familia fue lo que me paso con esta lectura.
El vuelo del Jabirú ha sido un libro muy interesante donde pase un tiempo sintiendo que vivía dentro del libro siendo Lara y viviendo todas esas travesías y aventuras acompañada del los peculiares habitantes del pueblo de Shady Camp sin dejar el romance con cierto cazador de cocodrilos que me encanto😍😍😍😍
Estoy deseando leer más de esta autora.

Ich habe dieses Buch am Flughafen gekauft. Mich haben die Deutsche Uebersetzung und die Tatsache, dass es mit Australien in Zusammenhang steht, angereizt.
In dieser Hinsicht war das Buch durchaus befriedigend. Ich habe die Informationen ueber Australien und zwar waehrend des zweiten Weltkrieges sehr genossen - ich hatte naemlich keine Ahnung, dass Australien so am Krieg beteiligt war und an mehrere Bombardierungen gelitten hat.
Die Handlung habe ich unnoetigerweise uebertrieben und unwahrscheinlich gefunden, da es aber um einen einfachen Roman geht, hat es mir nicht viel ausgemacht.
Wenn man Zeit angenehm verbringen und etwas mehr ueber Australien wissen moechte, stellt dieses Buch eine gute Auswahl.

Love down-under: wartime Darwin in the 40's
Super briefly, this is the story of Lara Penrose sentenced to the far north of Australia on a trumped up charge by the English courts in 1941. She is to serve as a school teacher on a remote settlement near the mouth of the Mary River
I was a tad conflicted about this novel. Haran has certainly done her research about the Top End and Darwin during the Japanese raids in WW2. Her word paintings of the astounding scenery and areas around the billabongs are brilliant, the crocodile threat is all too scary, and the 'stolen generation' representations are well crafted. Everything that is Australian in the Top End gets a mention. Even 'transportation to the colonies' raises its head--which was over by now, so the whole legal pressure brought to bear on Lara Penrose, a feisty English miss and elementary school teacher, was obviously a powerful whitewash by those in a position to do so.
I know that derogatory terms were used for the Japanese and Aboriginals during this historical time--indeed in many instances until the end of the eighties and nineties, and sadly within some groups, today. As this is written in 2015, I would have liked a way through to not using offensive terms. I know Darwin was really a rough pioneer town. (If you want any more visual images, you probably can't go past Nicole Kidman in the movie 'Australia.' ) So certainly applause for the vividness of the era and the area. The beer drinking Aussies, the g'days and the casualness. Look, it all gets a mention including attitudes towards women, childbirth, education, aboriginals, conservation, and as noted earlier, stolen children.
Pick an issue, it's buried here somewhere.
So much happened to Lara that I was exhausted by the end. That trek she does is bizarre and yet we accept it because of her desperateness. No-one in their right mind would do it--which Lara obviously wasn't. I wanted to see how things would end, but oh my goodness, talk about a saga of happenings. Is this a story of reality gone wrong, reality beyond belief, or a drawn out yarn? I'm still out on this but will continue reading Haran's work.
Add to this an interesting love triangle and wow!
Certainly for pure storyline it's a 5. However I still have too many questions.

Novela agradable y ligera de leer que nos narra la experiencia de una maestra de escuela británica que se traslada al territorio norte de Australia para enseñar a los niños de una pequeña comunidad y su romance con un cazador de cocodrilos. Con esta premisa nos encontramos con una historia sencilla pero llena de personajes entrañables, descripciones de paisajes maravillosos y una fauna no apta para cosmopolitas que dará más de un disgusto a Lara Penrose creando situaciones desde lo dramático a lo cómico.

La autora tiene el poder de hacerte conocer Australia. Con “El vuelo del jabirú” nos traslada a Darwin, al norte de ese lejano y exótico continente, diferente si cabe a la otra Australia del sur de sus otros libros. En esta ocasión a mediados del siglo XX, con el viaje de una joven y valerosa maestra de escuela inglesa que, acusada injustamente de un delito, se ve obligada a emigrar para no terminar en la cárcel.
Como en sus anteriores novelas, nos presenta una fuerte protagonista femenina, joven y muy atractiva, intrépida, resuelta y de gran corazón.
En este libro la protagonista, Lara habrá de enfrentarse a un río lleno de cocodrilos, a la vez que tendrá que integrarse en un pueblo pequeño, con unas difíciles condiciones de vida y en un país desconocido. La base para mí, como es habitual, es una historia de amor, en este caso con dos pretendientes hasta el mismo final, un médico y un cazador de cocodrilos que se disputarán el cariño de la protagonista.
La ambientación y la recreación de hermosos paisajes y naturaleza salvaje está muy lograda.
Me había leido ya otros titulos de la autora, y como me habían gustado he querido repertir, pero a pesar de ser una novela muy entretenida, tiene varios pasajes que quizás me han parecido un poco forzados… sobre todo casi al final.
Como en sus anteriores novelas, nos presenta una fuerte protagonista femenina, joven y muy atractiva, intrépida, resuelta y de gran corazón.

Que lamentable que la comunidad de Shady Camp y las magníficas descripciones de Australia sean el telón de fondo de una historia de amor tan sosa como la de Lara y Rick.
La comunidad de Shady Camp es lo mejor del libro, te hacen reír, tienen una personalidad bien descrita, son ingeniosos, divertidos, tienen un sentido de comunidad, son cálidos, relajados. Te caen bien de seguro. Otro punto fuerte es la narración de las aventuras de Lara en Australia, la ambientación es excelente, la narración fluida. Todo esto me pareció tan bueno que sentí que la historia de amor sobraba. También se asoma un triángulo amoroso que no da ningún juego, sobra también.
En resumen, la autora podría haber explotado mucho más el paisaje, las relaciones en la comunidad aborigen y la comunidad blanca de Shady Camp, las aventuras en la escuelita, el personaje de Jerry, que pudo haber sido mucho más significativo en la historia. Bueno, todo esto me parece más interesante que la historia de Lara y Rick.
Aún así, disfruté harto este libro, hasta me gustaría una segunda parte.

¿Qué puedo decir acerca de éste libro tan bello? Es una historia que nos transporta a la calurosa Australia, a una zona donde los poblados están alejados y el estilo de vida que llevan los lugareños es muy diferente a lo que uno estaría acostumbrado al vivir en una gran ciudad. Desde los animales, el calor, hasta el ritmo de vida. Es una historia llena de amistad, de supervivencia, de cómo la vida te puede mostrar su rostro más triste pero a la vez la felicidad. Y por supuesto, el amor. ♥️ Quedé encantada con cada uno de los personajes, y la manera en que cada uno tiene una parte especial en el libro. Me enamoré, reí, lloré y la manera en que describen el paisaje, los atardeceres. La verdad es un libro que recomiendo leer, es un libro para disfrutar. Cuando lo terminé, me sacó una gran sonrisa. Terminé abrazando el libro al llegar a la última página y dando un suspiro, de esos abrazos que te dejan una buena historia. Queridos lectores, den a esta historia una oportunidad y disfruten. ☺️

What can I say except WOW? This story captivated me from beginning to end. Starting in England where our heroine is accused of a crime she didn't commit to Australia where she finds herself as a teacher in a very out of the way place in the Northern Territory. The place is nothing like she expected and it takes a lot of time to get used to everything, not least the extreme temperatures.
What I really loved about this story is just how much happened in it. From huge crocodile sightings to budding romances, to war and heartbreak, but happily to a very satisfying ending. All of the characters were wonderful, and each had their own interesting story. I just can't say enough about how great this book is. It's definitely one I will read again.

Me gustan mucho las novelas de europeos que se trasladaban a vivir al otro lado del mundo y los contrastes que encontraban, sobre todo en épocas en que las costumbres eran tan distintas entre un mundo y otro. El personaje femenino muy interesante.

Me hizo sentir demasiadas cosas Elizabeth Haran con esta historia. Me transporte a la situación de la protagonista y sobre todo, sentir por completo la historia como si fuera la mia.

Este libro ha causado demasiadas emociones en mí... es increíble, la historia se desarrolla muy bien y aunque había momentos en los que dejaba de leer por que había sufrido una conmoción muy grande por todo lo que vivía Lara debo decir que me hubiera encantado leerlo mucho antes. Es una historia fresca y rápida de leer, he viajado hasta Australia y he conocido más a los cocodrilos, y sobre todo he tenido la fortuna de conocer a un grupo de personas residentes de Shady Camp que se han quedado con mi corazón. Cada personaje tiene su propia esencia y eso hizo que fueran muy especiales para mí.
Comencé a leer este libro por que lo compré por mí mamá pero después de leer varias páginas en un día debo decir que el libro se encargó de que olvidara todo y solo me centrara a disfrutar de todo lo bonito de la historia, lo cual fue maravilloso y disfruté mucho aunque me hubiera gustado saber qué pasó con Jerry y Bea pero el final me encantó demuestra el inicio de una nueva historia... por que a veces el final no lo es todo.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Australia, with its dazzling varieties of wildlife and plants, offers much to Lara Penrose, and she falls in love with the challenge of it. Unfortunately this wildlife also contains huge crocodiles that must be removed for the safety of her small town, and the croc hunter is a challenge for Lara as well.
