Broken Ties by Jeanetta Sneed is a heavy and emotional story that explores identity, trauma, and personal growth.

The book follows a young gay teenager dealing with a deeply difficult home life—constant arguments, a father struggling with alcoholism, and ongoing bullying at school. It paints a raw picture of what she’s going through and how isolating that experience can be.

What stood out to me was the transformation that happens when she runs away. It’s like watching a completely different version of her emerge—stronger and more in control of her life.

However, the story takes a very dark turn when she decides to stand up for herself and is met with extreme violence. That moment highlights just how dangerous her situation truly was and adds another layer of emotional weight to the story.

While I appreciated the journey and the depth of what the author explored, I did find myself wanting a bit more from the ending in terms of closure.

Overall, a powerful and difficult read that touches on trauma, resilience, and finding your voice.

Broken Ties is a book about a Stacy(17) not happy at home and she decides to leave and start a new life. She meets a women online who is incredibly insecure and not very likeable. So begins her hellish drama. Most of the book is building the relationship of the new couple, while dealing with a horrible roommate. The big trauma starts at about 70% into the book. Im honestly pleased with the ending. Its how it should've gone. Stacy going back home with her family.

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an advanced copy of the book.

Stacey is a strong female character who is determined to live her life as she wants. She runs off and starts a new life. She learns that lying doesn't get you very far.

I enjoyed this book, I was shocked to see how it unfolded and a little bummed she didn't end up back with Kelsey or that they didn't get a reunion after the trauma but the story flowed well and it made you be grateful for the life you are given.

I would recommend this to people!

Broken ties is a MUST read! The FMC Stacey is a total bad a$$. Her courage is inspiring! The plot twist 10/10, the ending 10/10. Jeanetta did a fabulous job of keeping the story line moving without rushing it. If you’re looking for a quick suspense, romance and LGBTQ representation all in one this is the book for you!
