Chronicles of the Cryptologist – Book Two By Knox Legend Coming May 2026
History buried the truth. She’s about to unearth it.
When a forgotten ship’s log is discovered in a dusty attic on Long Island, law student Katelynn Kittle stumbles into a mystery three centuries in the making. The journal—filled with strange symbols, brittle maps, and an undecipherable cipher—pulls her into the orbit of cryptologists Mia Hamilton and Dr. Adler Kein, whose work once exposed the secrets of the Custodes Veritatis.
But this cipher is older. Deeper. And it bears the name of a man history condemned: Captain William Kidd.
As Katelynn works with Mia and Adler to unravel the enigmatic journal, they begin uncovering a story far different from the legend of a pirate hanging at Execution Dock. The coded entries trace Kidd’s royal commission, the storms and mutiny that plagued his voyage, the political betrayal that destroyed him, and the truth he was never allowed to speak.
Across the dual timeline of 1696–1701, Kidd’s hidden voice rises from the past, revealing secrets that could upend centuries of accepted history. Buried within the final pages lies a piece of evidence powerful enough to rewrite the narrative of one of the world’s most infamous trials—and there are those who will do anything to keep it hidden.
As the echoes of history collide with the present, Katelynn must decide how far she’s willing to go to uncover the truth and challenge a verdict that has stood for over three hundred years.
Echoes from the Black Flag is a sweeping historical thriller about legacy, conspiracy, and the unbreakable codes that bind past and present.

I just discovered this author and read both his books in two evenings. I am never without something to read and really enjoyed this journey. It nìever lost my interest, love the attention to details and always like learning historical details. I hope the next book in this series comes sooner than later and having lived in Turkey as a child my anticipation for the new book is high. Thanks for the intriguing stories .
This is one of those books you win from Goodreads and aren’t sure you will like because it is out of your comfort zone but end up genuinely enjoying it. That is why I enter so many giveaways, you never know what might surprise you. I really like dual POV and alternate timelines. This book has both. I learned a few things along the way as well.
