Leo's action WRT the discovery of Austin does not ring true to his character or his marriage. I'm having trouble believing this part of the book. It is completely inconsistent with his relationship with Gabriella. It's a letdown considering how much I've been looking forward to reading it.

Nico, Leo and Ella have been friends since college. Ella was in love with Leo but Nico interferred and he ended up married to Ella.
Thireteen years later Ella finds out the reason she has had trouble getting pregnant and her marriage goes to hell. It turns out Nico has also been cheating on her harbouring some deep seated resentment about her feelings for Leo.
With Nico now out of the picture Leo and Ella have a shot at the future that should have been theirs. Everything is going great until Leo stuffs up in a big way. With her trust shattered again Ella walks away. Leo knows he has stuffed up and does everything to get Ella back. Just when things are starting to right themselved Nico pops up again.

Love always wins
V. Brown is one of my favorite authors out there. She is a must read for me and I have yet to find a book of hers that I haven’t loved! I love the entire series really! I’ve read this book 3 times now and I have loved it everytime! Gabriella and Leonardo were just so sweet! 😍
I love friends to lovers stories and while there was betrayal by Nico, their best friend and her ex, it was Leonardo and Gabriella’s love that was at the center. This is not to downplay Nico’s betrayal, because it was a whole other level. Nico’s obsession and actions were unforgivable. For such a smart doctor, he was not so bright. I was ok with this, because it led her into Leonardo’s arms!
I know there was strife between them and Leonardo made mistakes, but it wasn’t because he was a bad guy. He was just scared and I never doubted for a second that she was his everything and he would give his life to protect her if it ever came to it. He just froze out of fear when faced with news that he didn’t know what to do with. I do feel like he would have shared with Gabriella if given time. He just needed time to process, but after Nico I could see where Gabriella was coming from too. Somehow I managed to have sympathy for both of them. I’ll admit to a soft spot for Leonardo, so maybe I was wanting him forgiven faster even knowing he screwed up. I love a good HEA and I’m glad that they got theirs!
I am so hooked on this entire series! I am so excited for Daisy’s book now! I feel like it is possible we haven’t heard the last of Nico too. I love the interconnected stories she has woven together deftly. This is a standalone, but I would definitely recommend reading the rest of the series, because it really adds to the experience, because I could pick out moments from the other books that were shown more in depth from another point of views. I will probably re-read the entire series from the beginning before Digital Deception comes out, just to enjoy and see it from a different point of view again. I’m sure I’ll love this just as much a 4th time! 💜

3.5 - Pretty good! I don’t know if the blurb is all that accurate/informative. I almost didn’t read this because I don’t generally dig love triangles. I also don’t love my FMC to be the cheater, which I kind of thought the blurb was implying. This isn’t that.
Spoilery thoughts:
FMC has two bff’s in med school. Both are secretly in love with her. MMC 1 manipulates the situation to get his HEA with FMC. MMC 2 accepts this and is still their bff. No lines are crossed. Got that?
Shenanigans ensue and it turns out MMC 1 is a complete psycho pos. They divorce. MMC 2 is there to pick up the pieces. The angst of this is all in the first several chapters.
By the time the book is half done, I’m like wtf could be happening next? This sounds like a ‘the end’ situation.
Wellll… MMC 2 messes up something pretty monumentally imo, so this book serves a delightful 2 gut punches with 2 different men! Manna to my soul. MMC 2 is actually a great guy, who made a series of dumb choices. So there’s hope here.
More shenanigans ensue. MMC 1 is TRULY nuts. Karma is served. Everyone is happy… well everyone except MMC 1. 😈

V. Brown’s latest offering is a page turner!
She starts the story with a flashback with our heroine’s heart being crushed! But Nico is there to put her back together again! Sweet ott in love Nico…They marry. Life is good! For 13 years, Gabriella has loved Nico, and even though they are unable to have children, Nico is there by her side soothing and comforting her! He really is a wonderful husband! Perfect! But it’s all lies!!!! And the author wastes no time revealing the truth!
Nico has been keeping secrets. Secrets that destroy marriages. Secrets that no one could come back from. There was no way to redeem Nico, so the author didn’t try. He is the villain in this story. He will pop up here and there to wreak havoc on his ex wife adding drama to the story, but in the meantime…..
Don’t despair…our h gets a new (old)love! Back in the med school days there was Leonardo, Gabriella, and Nico. They were all close friends. Gabriella had a crush on Leonardo, but when she overheard him basically friendzone her, her heart was broken. Nico, was in love with Gabriella, so he was there to pick up the pieces and since she already loved him like a friend, it was not too far of a leap to fall in love with him. So she did and they married. Leo never knew that Ella had feelings for him. Had he known, then he would have made Ella his wife instead!!!(wait a minute, but you said he friend-zoned her….yes, yes I did, but I also said there was lying and secrets too !)
Basically, Nico destroys his marriage to Ella which now gives Leo a golden opportunity to make Ella his! Ella, of course, needs to grieve the loss of not only her marriage but the fact that Nico, a long time friend and lover, was a snake! However, it doesn’t take Ella long for those dormant feelings she had for Leo to rise up. Leo, was never ever able to commit to a woman, because Ella took his heart years ago!
Leo and Ella have some hot times between the sheets, get married, have children, and continue to work as Doctors. Life for Leo and Ella is idyllic. Leo dotes on Ella, and honesty/transparency is the cornerstone of their marriage. Ella needs this after being lied to for over a decade by Nico. Leo understands this about his wife, and never wants her to doubt him. She is his everything!
But here is the issue, the story is not a novella and we are only at the 50 percent mark. So, someone(Leo?) needs to mess up. Now if you read Mercy Lake, you already know what is coming. If you haven’t, then let me remind you of something I said earlier. Leo didn’t do relationships. However, a man has urges, needs, so he was by no means celibate for all of those years. When he and Ella are at a medical conference, Someone from his past recognizes him and they have a secret, a secret that could unravel his beautiful life with Ella.
Here is the problem, the secret itself, although life changing, is not the issue. It is Leo’s handling of the secret. Which involves lies and keeping Ella in the dark. Ella who has had enough lies from her previous husband to last a lifetime, is once again being betrayed. She confronts her husband, and Leo now needs to prove to his wife that not only is he remorseful, but he WILL risk his life to prove he is the right man to love her forever!
This was a fun and exciting read! It is filled with anger, disgust, secrets, laughter, scary moments, smexy times, and love, lots of love!! I know I kept things vague. I did that on purpose. But, I am pretty sure I left enough crumbs to figure out some of the secrets/lies. Believe me when I say that uncovering some of the secrets on your own will be so much more enjoyable! I will at least put your mind at ease with this: Leo truly loves Ella and never ever cheats on her! Part of the reason for his betrayal, because he doesn’t want to risk losing his wife for his choices in the past.

FMC - Gabrielle - age 43 (Yay, actually grown-ups!)

Prologue introduces Gabrielle (26), Nico and Leonardo. All finishing medicals school and best friends. Gabrielle wants to tell Leo she is in love with him, and Nico is going to help her, but when Gabrielle walks up to their conversation, she hears Leo telling Nico that he ‘doesn’t like her like that and that he doesn’t want to give her false hope and that the only important thing in his life is the 3 of them’s friendship and he won’t do anything to jeopardize that. She ends up fleeing and Nico catches up to help her cry and tells her their’s other guys out there for her.
Fast forward to Gabrielle age 43 - she’s happily married to Nico, waiting for him to come home from a business trip. She see’s a piece of mail addressed to him with the logo of a fertility clinic….which she recognizes because they had tried for years having a baby, and had ‘unexplained’ infertility problems. It took a toll on their relationship, but mostly her…..it was such a loss, not being able to have a child, and Nico did not want a non-biological child.
She opens the envelope and guess what. Full std panel and at the bottom - a confirmation that his vasectomy - that he had 13 years ago, was still strong. But, it was not a ‘fail safe’ method TO VERIFY PATERNITY 😳
Shit hit the fan. Not only had he been sleeping with other women (all one night stands, basically hookers), he lied to her for years…all because he didn’t’ want a child to take any of her attention away from him. They have a blow out fight, and their best friend shows up - Leo, who actually loves Gabriella - which Nico knew, and manipulated Gabriella, so long ago, into being with him.
Leo took care of Gabriella, during the months that followed. They became romantic, and realized that in this darkness, they could find the light and love in each other that was always there.
Nico, on the other hand, was totally unhinged. He lost his wife, his best friend, his practice, basically everything (delusional doesn’t even begin to cover it, even spent time in the psych ward).
Leo and Gabrielle moved away to start over, Gabriella got pregnant, they were in love and had a beautiful baby girl.
And then Nico sent Leo a message, ‘you stole my life…I’m going to take it back’.
Then it jumps to 7 years later……and I’ll stop there 😉

This is a short novella and I was quite looking forward to it but it was a little odd as Nico just made no sense at all.
Nico, Leonardo/Leo and Gabriella/Ella are all friends in college however Ella is in love with Leo and Leo is in love with Ella but Nico manages to convince Ella Leo doesn’t see her as more than a friend so Nico and Ella end up together. They stay together for 13 years suffering fertility issues and still stay in love.
However little does Ella know poor Leo has been pinning away for her keeping her as a friend instead of having nothing. Also Nico had a secret vasectomy 13 years ago as he didn’t want children as he felt they would take Ella’s attention away. Also a year ago he started cheating on her.
Ella finds out about the vasectomy and the fact he is a Board member of the fertility clinic this was how he hid it. She is heartbroken as all she wanted was children and now she is 43.
Any way her and Leo get together and manage to have 2 children. Nico harassed them but they have moved away and Ella managed to sue the fertility clinic and get divorce ahead of marrying Leo.
Next Leo has a son he doesn’t know about and obviously he hides this from Ella. His son is from a one night stand several years before they got together. Ella thinks he is hiding something and finds out about the son and is heartbroken again as her trust is broken.

Después de los libros de infidelidad los que mas odio y detesto son esos en los que al protagonista masculino le aparece de la nada un hijo con otra mujer o una mujer embarazada, especialmente cuando los protagonistas ya están juntos.
Leo es un imbécil, manejo la situación de la peor manera y fue perdonado muy fácil, Alexis no manejo la situación mejor que el, Gabriella es la típica protagonista, siempre la mas noble, la que hace lo correcto, la que se traga todo por el bien de los demás, este tipo de mujeres nos las quieren mostrar como fuertes, cuando en realidad son tontas.
Aquí la situación era complicada porque la pareja tenia dos hijas, caso contrario si yo fuera gabriella dejo a Leonardo con Alexis, Austin, Owen y que resolvieran ellos.

Loved Gabriella and Leo
Great story, awful betrayal by first husband, I agree that what he did was way worse than cheating (though that, too). Gut punch, FMC doesn’t back down and makes him pay, though that isn’t the end of things…
The second chance relationship with Leo was perfect, not sure I would have held his “betrayal” against him so long but the story did a good job of making you understand why Ella had trouble trusting.
Love every story I’ve read by this writer, who does such a believable job describing emotional states in real terms. Such a pleasure to read words by an actual author!

Meh
I loved the first and second books of this series but these last 2 have been disappointing. She totally overreacted when she found out about his son. Of course he wanted confirmation and a chance to meet his damn kid that he didn’t even know about. Give the man some damn grace chick. She’s the one that after one time overhearing him say he wanted to be friends gave up on him completely and married his best friend.

This was a much anticipated release and it definitely lived up to my expectations. This story gave me everything I want in a betrayal story. A brutal realisation moment, strong heroine, second chance at a better love and this one came with a plot twist that had me genuinely shocked. Absolutely loved it!

Not what I was expecting.
It was too tame for what her ex did to her and her new man. I thought there would be more revenge or more about Leonardo and his son’s relationship. It felt like a surface level story without going fully into the story.

This was a fast paced second chance romance that was deliciously twisty and dramatic. If you like greys anatomy or any other medical drama this will be for you!
I would definitely read the triggers on this one as well.

This was a delightful rollercoaster of angst, betrayal, and patient love. Ella and Leo are put through it in this novella. But it’s beautiful watching them surrender to each other. It’s such a balm to see their found family rally around them, too! Cannot wait for Daisy’s story next.

Not my cup of tea. There was so much crazy happening it was a little OTT. I’m also not a fan of the surprise son who he fathered with someone else a decade ago and just found out about, then lied to his wife for 2 weeks. I skimmed once that storyline started happening.

I have been *salivating* for Leo's story since the end of Mercy Lake, and maaaaaaaan, I did not expect this. This was good. Probably my favorite of the series so far. This is a fast-paced, angsty, second chance romance that pulls you in and turns you upside down a number of times before it reaches its conclusion. There are lots of cameos from other characters, and I love how they all interact. My favorite parts of this book are spoilers so I will just say, if you read Mercy Lake and you got to that epilogue desperately wanting to know more? This book delivers. And then some. 😉
