An ok written book on a very, very interesting subject. Since this was written in the 60s, it of course isn't entirely up to date. But also, very little research has been allowed to be conducted since then so there are not many better modern sources.

With that said, it was very interesting to read, at times, because of the mystifying and fascinating topic. Both how the drugs works but also what impact its had on som nay different cultures.

The book was a bit boring at times though so in literary terms, not exactly a masterpiece.

disappointing and misleadingly titled, this book really has little or nothing to do with the LSD culture of American college campuses of the 1960s. what you get is an extended "time" magazine-style expose padded out with overly familiar anecdotes (the Hoffman bicycle story, again - etc etc) and a lot of tedious statistics and academic spank. valuable, i guess, in the impression it gives of straight society's reaction to the acid culture in the early-to-mid-1960s, but a very dry and disappointing read, top-heavy with annoyingly dated slang.
