Clarissa never thought at age twenty-six she would be fearing for her life. Everything was going as planned, until her husband started showing a side of himself she didn’t know existed. Failed attempts at leaving him have now left her fighting for her life. Literally. She knows she has to figure out a plan to free herself from his tight grip, but it’s harder than she imagined.
Rig endured much pain after a tragedy left him trying to figure out his place in the world. He now plows through situations, leaving nothing safe in his wake. He lives for the thrill of danger and loves to be on the open road. He doesn’t mix business with pleasure, and he didn’t expect to fall in love with the girl he is hiding out.
When things get too intense between Clarissa and Rig, he decides he can no longer be her safety net. With his feelings clouding his judgment, it’s hard for him to choose between right and wrong.
Will Rig be able to figure out what he wants in time to save Clarissa’s life, or will she become another statistic of domestic abuse?
Escaping Parker takes us on a woman's journey, through love and betrayal; heartbreak and insufferable pain; on the road towards freedom. A road lined with obstacles, that shows the vulnerability of trying to survive, whilst not forgetting who you are.
Clarissa Ava Fields is a young married woman, with a bright future. Setting up web-based companies, growing them until they are big and viable enough to sell and turn a profit, Clarissa can be classified as one of the biggest Internet moguls within the US. This all looks good on the outside, but inside, Clarissa is screaming and begging for freedom. Living in an abusive marriage, Clarissa has made numerous attempts to leave her husband, Steven, to no avail. He always finds her, and if not him, his goons.
Steven has a real estate business, while secretly working for the Cartel. He uses this as a front to hide his illegal dealings for the Cartel. Being who he is, and with Clarissa's failed attempts at running, the entire house is bugged. Clarissa is always under constant surveillance.
Working from home is bitter-sweet and has become a double edged sword for Clarissa. Living in a brutally abusive marriage, Clarissa is able to hide all her bruises and injuries from the stares of the public. Sometimes wishing that maybe someone would step in.
Clarissa's last and final attempt to run, unexpectedly finds her in a network like the "underground railway." A group of people dedicated to aiding others, running from domestic abuse, and helping them survive and starting new lives. Clarissa goes underground so to speak. Travelling across the state, scared and frightened of the unknown, and the what if's.
As her journey starts, Clarissa finds herself attracted to the man aiding her plight, Ryan or 'Rig' as he is called. Ryan keeps her safe, and whispers caring words to her. Showing her the love and care, that she so willing misjudged, when she married Steven. Years without even a kind word, or a loving touch, brings Clarissa's vulnerability to the forefront of her current situation.
She's lost to what her life will be like, leaving herself behind and coping as Parker Lynn Daniels. Wondering who she will become, and whether she can truly remain true to herself. Amidst her internal battles, Rig is finding it hard to keep his attraction at bay. Concerned that he may slip and jeopardize their safety. Visions of his past haunt him daily. Reminding him, that one slip, could mean life or death.
Can two persons battling their own demons, survive the biggest monster in the room? Themselves.
Soon enough, their attraction becomes too much to ignore, and their time running, is spent enjoying each other's company. And the one thing that was their fear, became their reality.
Steven has found her.
“It’s taking everything I have not to break down and freak out right now.”
********************* Just my opinion.
So, whilst I loved the theme and dynamics of this story, I felt, that this should have been shorter. The time spent running and hiding out, felt too long and drawn out. As if the author was fighting to create a more intriguing plot. But sadly for me, the intrigue was lost.
I also would have liked to have some more drama and present abusive situations, rather than reliving Clarissa's memories. This would have impacted my emotions and reactions more vividly. My emotional connection to Clarissa/Parker was somewhere between, slight empathy, and none existent.
Rig was such a sweetheart. So soft and strong, understanding and caring. He really had such a heart of gold. Sacrificing his life to help others and ensure their safety and giving them new identities and new lives. A fresh new beginning. He was a guardian angel.
“This journey, for me, has been all about rolling with the punches, and accepting things I will never be able to change.”

I started reading this book late one night and desperately wanted to finish it in one sitting, but sadly couldn't because of this thing called a job... So, the following day, I finished it and since then, have not been able to stop thinking about it.
Escaping Parker is such a realistic story that affects many today! It's a powerful story of survival, trusting and believing in yourself. And never losing hope that there is ALWAYS a way out. It's worthy of 6 wonderful stars from me. ~ Kara, 6 stars
My Review ''I don't quite understand how my heart can be dead, but beating at the same time''
Clarissa aka Parker, was a young woman who had made a terrible misjudgement of character. She'd married a monster and now every day she had to walk a tightrope of orders and the ''right'' way of doing things, one task and one foot in front of the other...if she fails, if she falls, Steven will finally live up to his promise. He'll finally kill her. In a way, she wishes for that, she longs just to sink into the darkness of oblivion and finally never wake, to finally find freedom in the dark...but behind her dull eyes there is a small flame...a tiny seed of hope. Clarissa receives a mysterious email from a client wanting to buy one of her domain names so she sets up an appointment and in a flash...her world is changed. Andrew promises her freedom, he promises her safety but she has to be brave, she has to put her life into the hands of strangers and she has to run! This is where we met the enigmatic Rig aka Ryan, he offers Clarissa the protection that she needs but he's as guarded and as damaged as she is. Can the two learn to help and heal each other? Can they out run their demons? Well you're going to need to buy the book to find out...and trust me...you NEED to read this book! Fawn Zele is the queen of emotive writing, she gets inside of your head and twists your brain, she plays with your heartstrings like a master puppeteer and slowly manipulates your thoughts with her melodic prose until you cant help but sob like a baby. You cling to her words for comfort, never daring to put the book down until she's led you home and tucked you in to bed with a comforting 'The End' I've found myself re-reading this book 3 times now, each time the journey is the same but the genuine fear Zele incites on Clarissas behalf becomes more real! You notice minute details that you missed the first time...Parker's reaction when a glass smashes, a lingering look, something! and suddenly you've been drawn in again. Fawn is the Debussy of the Indie community and we are all waiting with baited breath for her next concerto. 5 Amazingly well deserved stars!!! This is My book of 2015 so far.
I have read Zele's other two books and enjoyed them, but Escaping Parker takes the cake. It is definitely her best work to date. From page one Zele knows how to draw the reader in. You get so sucked into the story that there is no putting it down until it is finished.
Clarissa finds her self fighting for her life. She never thought her marriage would turn out this way. He days are filled with following rules and chores that must be done to a certain standard or deal with the repercussions, which are great. So severe that the next time Steven's hand connects, it could be her last. Every time she has tried to leave, he and his goons have found her. When she finally realizes that she needs to seek outside help to get away from him for good, she didn't think it would show up in quite the way that it did.
When a business meeting turns into the last day she will be known as Clarissa, she has to make a fast decision to accept the help in front of her or take her chances on her own again. Leaving everything behind, her parents, her business, money and belongings is harder than she thought. She can leave no trace of her self behind. With the help and support of of Rig, she slowly begins to build a new life for herself and along the way she learns that she isn't the only one with demons in her past. As her friendship with Rig grows into something more will they both be able to set themselves free of their pasts and try to find a future together? Grab this amazing 5 star read and find out.
Zele has a knack for getting in your head. Her stories are fairly fast passed and filled with suspense, heartache, happiness, friendship and love. An Emotional roller coaster ride so to speak. She writes about a tough subject, but does it with understanding. She give the reader a real look into the life of someone so beaten down that they will do just about anything to find a way to be saved. Extremely well written and thought provoking. Wow what an emotional read!! Get your tissues handy, this story is so beautiful and so sad. I really enjoyed reading this book! Can Rig figure out what he wants in time to save Clarissa’s life, or will she become another statistic of domestic abuse? Without giving away too much, I just want to say that this story is about an abused woman, Clarissa tries to figure out a way to leave her abusive husband. This story will have you laughing, crying, and feeling so many emotions. I really loved this book, I just couldn't put it down.
I'm so freaking honoured that i got to Arc read this amazing book.Escaping Parker By Ft Zele is a fantastic 5 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ read.
I know it sounds horrible but if id have read a synopsis of the book i probably wouldn't have picked this book to read. I don't like books that broach subjects of domestic violence. (you could say thats my hard limit.) Growing up in a domestic violence household it kind of triggers bad memories, but the way Ft Zele writes the story is good.
Yes it's a heartbreaking situation, but the story is about Clarissa taking charge of her life again with the help of some heroes and builds a life as Parker.
The transition from Clarissa to Parker isn't by any means an easy one but it is necessary to stay alive.
The friendship between Parker and Rig is nothing short of Beautiful, both battling demons of their own, each of them learning to trust, to love.
I don't want to say too much about the book, as I think everyone should read it, and I fear if I say too much it will spoil it for everyone.
I promise you if you read this book you won't be disappointed, it has everything Love, betrayal, heroism, loyalty, friendship, redemption and Liberation.
“Fresh tears blur my vision while I listen, making sure the monster I once thought was my loving husband has left in the moment everything went wrong. I could barely hear anything above the sound of my ribs cracking. The ringing in my left ear is starting to subside, but I’m still unsure if it’s safe to get up.”

Without giving away too much, I just want to say that this story is about an abused woman, Clarissa tries to figure out a way to leave her abusive husband. But leaving is a lot easier said than done. Rig loves living on the road, with nothing or nowhere to call home and then he finds Clarissa hiding and his whole world comes to a halt. Like I said I don’t want to give too much away, but this story will have you laughing, crying, nervous and so many other things. I really loved this book, there was never a dull moment with this book. Great, great job!

I had read Starting From Broken previously so I was aware of Fawn’s writing style and the topics that she can cover in her books well enough. I saw a bit of growth here from the previous novel and I was really pleased to see that although I did find the writing a little flat still. Despite the subject matter it didn’t evoke enough emotion in me and I felt it really should have. It’s not to say that this isn’t a good read because it is, it just wasn’t quite there for me.
I immensely enjoyed Rig/Ryan’s character but found it a little difficult to get on board with Clarissa/Parker. I could totally sympathise with the way she felt due to her circumstances but the woman came across as just a little too curt and dare I say ungrateful. The reasons for Rig thinking that he couldn’t be with Parker seemed plausible enough and the whole plot seemed extremely well thought out and researched. Whilst this had a few problems for me I have to say that I did enjoy this, I had to know how it all ended and what would happen with Steven. Fawn certainly managed to keep me wanting more. As I stated earlier Fawn deals with real issues and domestic abuse is a subject that’s hard to navigate in the literary world I think, all too often I see it glorified for the sake of a story. This author didn’t take that route, and while there are one or two scenes that may have turned my stomach a little, it was telling the story, conveying the actual threat to Clarissa. I think it was handled with compassion and done extremely well.
Loved the cover on this, made a difference from all the “body shot” images we normally see. Great little book but unfortunately it was missing that emotion for me; it might be ok for others in that respect as I am a little hard that way. Recommended still and I’ll definitely read more from this author.
Running from the life that was meant to be perfect. Running from the man that was supposed to protect you. Running from the person you have become. This is the life that Clarissa has to live. A life and love left in taters. When help comes along to not only protect her physically and make sure she is safe, but to mend her heart. Rig is there to protect her no matter the consequences. He will be with her until the threat is gone. But can her leave her after he give her his heart? This book is emotionally charged with a topic that will enrage you and break you heart at the same time. We have read books with this theme I know we all have but what F.T gives us is what happens when you escape. The dark reality of how far they have to go to find safety and live normal lives. Scary as it may be she gives us a glimpse of reality for women and families in these situations. So as I read about the life that Parker is trying to rebuild I fell for her. I feel for her heart that she is putting out there. I feel for the fear that she is trying to out run even as it cripples her. I fell it and I embrace it and I live this story as I tap the e-reader to get to the end of this romance. Yes, in the end it is a romance because while Rig is helping he is falling. What you have to wonder is how it will all end. My suggestion read it live it and love it as you now are the turner of each page in this amazing journey into freedom.
this is my first book by Zele, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed this book, and knowing my blog audience, i think you will really like it too. but be warned, you will have to finish once you start.
Clarissa is the heroine. and she is fighting for a lot. she is fighting for her life, and fighting to save a drowning marriage. i don't think she thought about what her marriage would be like to Steven. Man oh man, the emotion i felt. i wanted to wrap her up in a great big hug! Every time Clarissa tries to leave her husband, he finds her. She needs to find someone to help her with getting away from him, and that help isn't exactly what she expects.
Rig is the hero and he has a past of his own, but when he spots Clarissa and knows she needs help, he has to try for her- it seems he can't stay away or say no. Rig also has demons just like Clarissa and i felt like they could fight them together. they do have a great friendship, but what if it became more. they both have to drop the act of their pasts, and go ahead with a future together!!
Zele is a new to me author, and i really fell in love with her writing style, her plot line and her characterization. This book had so many emotions, and had me spinning on the gamut from the first paragraph. I was gifted an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review
"He's the one person who owns my heart, because he made it beat again when I thought it wasn't possible."
Waking up day after day to a mad man is more than Clarissa can take. Years of abuse has left her fearing, will the next hit will be the one to end her life. Her only option is go on the run with people who hide women like her.
I love this book, Clarissa, who changes her name to Parker, leaves everything behind in a blink of an eye, is learning to live again. Trust, that is hard, she has had nothing but fear drilled into her, from Steven. Can she trust those that are trying to protect her, even when she tries to get close to her protecter and he pushes her away?
Rig has one job; keep Parker safe and do not get close to her. Easy, right? That get's a little difficult when Parker wants to connect with him, and understand why he is in this line of work. Ahh...this is where it gets tricky, remember the saying "don't mix business with pleasure?"
This book is one of my top reads this year. Abuse is never a easy subject to discuss, but the author did a great job with Parker and Rigs story. I have several favorite parts of the book...dancing...the lake...oh, there is one part towards the end of the book, BEST SCENE EVER! I know buzz kill, bet you can't guess what it is though. Anyways, I hope you love this book.
Escaping Parker was just a great book. The subject matter was a bit hard to read at times because it is just a real topic.
Clarissa is in an abusive marriage. At many failed attempts at leaving her husband, she has no hope in ever getting away. Until one day her dreams are answered. Clarissa now lives her life on the run. She has Rig whose job is to protect her, make sure nothing happens to Clarissa.
When you are with someone for so long, day in and day out, feelings are bound to get in the way.
Rig had his own inner demons. He never wanted to get involved with Clarissa, just wanted to do his job, and get to his next job. That's how he lives his life. Helping families get away from the abuse they are living in.
It's until Clarissa that he feels he might want more again.
Escaping Parker was so real to me. I was caught up in all the emotions this book came with. Just when things are going great, they go from great to bad to worse. Everything just happens all at once. The whole time things are going down, my heart was pounding out of my chest. I had such anxiety. I wanted to help Clarissa get out of the mess that was her life.
I can't say much in this review without ruining the story, but I will say Escaping Parker is a must read. The emotional roller coaster that is Clarissa and Rig, is one I wont soon forget!
I went into this book without any expectations or knowing anything about the storyline. I absolutely loved the premise of the story and it gave way for some great scenes and character interaction. As a women, it is a story that many of us will connect with and have understanding. The characters were well done and I enjoyed that FT Zele did not compromise Clarissa's strength and tenacity while having her be vulnerable. She wasn't a mousy character. Rig's character (love the name) was hot but realistic. Zele didn't have to go into great detail with the physical characteristics of him to make us love him. He is definitely book boy worthy. I also really enjoyed that the characters were older (not college meat). They were intelligent, independent, headstrong but still carried burdens that made the relatable characters that made for great chemistry. Overall the story reads well and characters are solidly developed. There wasn't a time in the book where I was bored or wanted to walk away. FT Zele did a great job with this story giving us a good balance of angst, humour, and suspense. Put it on your TBR- it's worth it. D 4/5
I don't know where to start here. If you love F.T. Zele than you know all of her books are chop full of suspense and romance. This book has all of that and more. The subject is a touchy one. Without giving too much away, it's about a girl who is physically and mentally abused by her husband and has no way out. For years she's lived in his bubble. Always being watched and doing exactly as he asks till one day she's given an out. The kicker is she has to leave everything and everyone one behind to do it. Her journey out of hell is a hard one but with the help of some awesome strangers she might just get away. There's so much more too. The story was just so well written. I fell in love with the characters And I rooted for the girl to find happiness again. You have to read this to understand it all but it's so worth it. Love is worth fighting for right?
This was a very emotional read, you find your self feeling heartbreak, loss, and sadness right along with Clarissa. She never knew when she married her husband that one day he would completely change from her loving husband to the man who completely breaks her. Physically he beats her and mentally he crushes her. She knows the only way to survive is to escape him.
This was a story of fighting for survival. A story of self-discovery, learning to live, trust and love again. Clarissa's story is so heartbreaking, but she is a fighter and with Rig by her side she isn't the only one fighting.
I was given the privilege to read Escaping Parker in advance and I inhaled it in one sitting! This story is not your typical boy and girl meet and fall in love. It is a story of about a story of abuse and fighting for a right to luve outside that nightmare. I think, every woman should read this book, it may trigger something but what this book made me realized is that if you are in am abusive relationship, you should never be AFRAID to ask for help and that somewhere out there, there's this one person who can pick up your broken pieces to be whole again.
Sadly this wasn't for me. I was instantly gripped by the blurb and the first 15% but then I started to struggle. The writing was, can I say, stilted? Too formal, even? "Well" was used to start a heck of a lot of conversations and this kept on taking me out of the story. Once Clarissa/Parker turned into a super bitch (instead of being effing grateful that people were actually helping her instead of abusing her), I was done.
This sounds like a super intense read! Clarissa's fight for survival against her husband, combined with Rig's troubled past and their forbidden connection, promises a heart-pounding thriller. I'd pick this up for the high stakes and gripping romance. I need to know if she escapes!
“What have I done so horribly wrong to be living in hell?” Clarissa Fields, a 26-year-old successful internet businesswoman, is trapped in a hellish marriage to Steven Fields. With her every move observed, tracked and planned by her controlling husband, she cannot see a way out. She starts internet-based businesses, grows them to success and then sells them for a profit. Yet her home life is one where she is beaten bloody if the carpet is not vacuumed in the specific pattern that her husband requires.
“What do I need to do to get out of here? Every time has been unsuccessful.”
The man she once thought of as her loving husband has turned into an unpredictable, violent monster. She is convinced that she is to blame, but she cannot identify what it is about her that triggers his rage. She engages in a constant, daily examination of herself all while she struggles to meet his precise demands.
“The system infuriates me; the laws that are supposed to keep me safe and free have kept me captive, fighting to stay alive.”
Steven, a real estate entrepreneur, is deeply involved in a criminal organization. Every attempt Clarissa has made to escape, she is caught and returned to Steven by one of his goons. She has gotten restraining orders, but they provide her with no protection from Steven or his men. She learns of an underground escape organization, and after much careful planning, she places the call. While she assumed nothing would result from that call, she is taken completely by surprise when a week later her life as she knows it is completely upended and, without any other options, she agrees to leave behind everything – her business, her family, her husband and her identity – and goes on the run without a backwards glance or any goodbyes. She becomes Parker.
“It’s taking everything I have not to break down and freak out right now.”
She is with her initial driver, Mark, for the first two days while they travel to meet up with the man that will be her long-term guide, Rig, who will guide them as they zigzag across the country hiding from Steven. He will also remain with her as she gets settled in her new life and until he feels that she is comfortable and will thrive in it. Over the weeks and months of their travels Parker and Rig cultivate a friendship, all while they are both fighting a mutual attraction to each other.
“Is this something that will make stronger, or ultimately break me, leaving me a fragment of someone I used to be?”
Rig has his own baggage and reasons for doing what he does. He cannot help the attraction he feels towards Parker, but he certainly can stop himself from acting on it. He tries to keep her at arms length, often running hot and then cold towards her. Months later, when they finally give in to their attraction, confusion and fear rule Parker’s reactions in the aftermath, and Rig leaves her to her new life.
“This journey, for me, has been all about rolling with the punches, and accepting things I will never be able to change.”
Does she ever fully embrace her new life and herself as Parker? Does Rig regret how they parted ways? Can he let go of his personal demons and return to her? Does Steven catch up with Parker or was she never really out of his sight?
This was an intense, exciting story about a once confident woman beaten down to a shell of her former self by the man who vowed to love and cherish her. It’s a story about this woman reinventing herself and finding her voice in the face of unimaginable adversity. And most unexpectedly, it’s about her finding her ability to love and trust again. While the subject matter was difficult at times, F.T. Zele did a great job taking the reader on Clarissa’s journey to her happily ever after. This story earns a solid 4 smooches from me!
I really liked this book. Clarissa is a young woman who thinks she found her Prince Charming when she marries. It isn’t too long that she finds he isn’t the wonderful man she married he is an abuser. Clarissa knows she has to get away but her husband is just too powerful and won’t let her escape. Clarissa reaches out to an organization that helps her run. They create a new identity, Parker that allows her to hide and start fresh.
This book is very well written. The author is gifted with the ability to make the reader feel what her characters feel. The story deals realistically with the trauma of abuse and the difficulties that a woman has not only with dealing with her situation but also putting that old life away and moving on. As Parker moves from place to place the reader see into her head. I could feel Parker’s fear and anxiety.
It is beautiful to experience the kindness of strangers who want to save young woman from the pain of abuse often because a loved one lived the horror and often didn’t get out alive. The people in this network are so beautiful and loving. What I liked is that the safe houses required Parker to help out in some way. It makes it feel more like she is helping in her escape more than accepting charity.
Ryan (Rig) one of Parker’s handlers is so kind and loving, however, he has secrets and demons that he fights too. This man is so giving it is easy to understand how Parker falls for this man. I really love this character.
For the most part this book flows very smoothly but there are a couple sections that seem drawn out and slow moving. It isn’t really a negative and part of it could be my need to know what happens next. It also could be the author’s design for the reader to feel the monotony of life on the run. I just wanted something to happen but I’m not really sure what would work.
This is my first F.T. Zele book and it will not be my last. I recommend this book. It is a lovely book of pain and triumph. There are times when the emotions bubble up. There are a few little twists and there is a lot of happiness and growth.
I have to admit, when I first started reading this book I did not think I was going to like it. When I first started reading it I kept noticing similarities to a book I had just read, but later found out it was only the premise of the book that was the same. That could have been a total coincidence, but I have read the entire book and I know that the two are definitely not copying each other too closely. I really enjoyed this story. I felt as if I was in Clarissa's shoes. Being an internet business mogul and having to leave her cushy lifestyle was probably very hard on her. Most people don't like change in general and she had to just up and leave her life with no warning. Of course it was for the best considering the circumstances, but I am not sure I would have been able to do what she did without proper planning first. Of course that planning was probably what got her caught every time she tried to orchestrate her own plan of leaving. I really thought Clarissa and the first guy that escorted her away from her husband were going to hit it off, but they didn't. I knew then started to wonder if the second guy would be her infatuation, and he was, although I was beginning to wonder with all of the mixed signals he was sending. That and claiming to not mix business with pleasure. I enjoyed reading about Clarissa and Rig and I loved watching their relationship blossom. I don't know if I would have been as self controlled as Clarissa, but I do not feel that her choices were bad. The only thing she did that I wouldn't have done was blow up on Rig after he told her why he didn't feel like he was worthy of a life and worthy of love. She totally misunderstood what the entire situation was about. She acted like a real ass and almost screwed up a good thing. She's so lucky that he came back to save her after she made him leave!
This book had very few grammatical errors and was well written. There were no characters that I didn't understand their relationship to the book. The story flowed well. I enjoyed reading this book and would read it again! Thank you for writing such a great story!
This book is about Clarissa who is stuck in an abusive marriage. She tries to do everything that Steven wants and exactly the way he wants it but sadly he seems to always find a reason to beat her. She knows that if she stays he will end up killing her but her previous attempts failed because he always seems to find her. She manages to contact someone for help and they refer her to someone else. One day while going to what she thinks is a meeting for her business she finds out this man is there to help her escape. She must make the choice right then to leave and thankfully she does.
She ends up meeting Rig who is part of the group that help the abused and ends up spending tons of time with him since he is there to take her to safe houses and eventually to where she will start over. They grow very close but Rig isn't comfortable with it because he has experienced so much heartbreak in his life that now he doesn't get close to people and spends his life on the road working one case to the next.
Will Rig be able to open up to Clarissa? Will she be able to cope with all that comes with getting her freedom back? Will she be able to stay hidden from her husband? Is there a HEA?
This book is an emotion filled story that is hard to put down. It is truly heartbreaking to read about what these victims go through. I really think you should read this book because I seriously think you may be missing out on one of the best books of the year.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Sweet Jesus. Escaping Parker was intense…. and alarming. It begs the question, how well do you really know anyone?!? Or better yet – can someone learn to trust and love again after being treated so horribly.
Clarissa’s life is lived one scheduled and tormented moment at a time. What should be her picturesque marriage is instead a relationship filled with abuse and anguish. Destruction. When given an opportunity to find hope, she isn’t given time to second guess her options. Stay and die or escape to breathe.
Her journey is filled with strangers and self doubt. Fear. The only comfort comes from her traveling companion, Rig. The two connect and contrast all at the same time – because falling in love when you’re running isn’t the smartest idea. Yet, they just cannot not be. The occasions when they surrender to all that they are feeling are amazing – filled with passion and desire. As they fall in love, they are both reborn and it was beautiful to read about.
But their story isn’t some sweet romance. They are trying to escape Clarissa’s past and a very dangerous man. I don’t want to say much about the husband (you need to experience it first hand) and that aspect of the story but know that scenes with him are unnerving. You are constantly anticipating him and you are terrified for Clarissa. He is pure evil.
Clarissa’s book, Escaping Parker has an incredible story – the plot keeps you right on the edge of your seat until the very last page. I highly recommend this suspenseful book – it’s an excellent read.
Get ready for one powerful book, the plot of this story will leave you with not only a smile on your face, a warm heart but cheering for Parker in so many levels.
Clarissa Fields aka Parker Daniels knows she has be giving the opportunity she has been waiting leave her old life behind but not only that start over and be away from her abusive husband. So Parker Daniels will be her new beginning. Knowing she has people helping her out is one of her main focus to stay calm and try to survive.
Ryan "Rig" Wilson has sworn never to fall in love with the person he's trying to keep safe, but he never in a million years would he imagined having all those dormid feelings being awaken by this gorgeous woman that not only was she beautiful but strong too.
Parker and Rig will take you to one hell of a ride that not only will you be wanting to keep her safe but she will become your new favorite character, and lets not forget Rig he is new book boyfriend material.
They way this book handle one of the most whispered secrets in our society is commendable. Shining a light to something we see but don't speak about it will bring you to a new level of conscience about this horrific issue that so many women and men faced in the shadows of their broken homes.
I recommend this incredible yet unforgettable book. You will not be disappointed.
Sleeping with the Enemy I wish I could give this book more than five stars, I really do. The author did a wonderful job with this. Domestic Violence is very much a hot button issue for me, having witnessed it and experienced it both throughout my childhood and then again in my extremely short first marriage. I immediately identified with Clarissa, she is a genuine character and she went straight to my heart. I fell into the story effortlessly and was held captive, frantically turning the pages until the sun came up. The loss of sleep was completely worth it. I just had to know how it all turned out. This story is an emotional one and is full of heartache, sadness, and suspense, but then there is hope. It is this hope that though hidden, and nearly extinguished within our heroine that leads us through the journey that is this story. I won't reiterate the synopsis, it's somewhere on this page, but I am also not going to tell you anymore about the story as I don't want to put out any spoilers, nor do I want to lead your thoughts about this book except to say that it is an excellent read. Definitely worth your time, I wholeheartedly recommend it. I can't wait for more from this gifted author. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Parker is in hiding from her abusive husband. Andrew helped her get away, but Steven, her husband is set on finding her no matter what.
Rig is Parker's protector and guide into her new life, once it finally starts. Being on the run for this long will take everything out of a person. Parker relies on Rig for everything, driving, finding motels, getting them to the next safe house. His objective is to keep her safe and back on her feet, no matter how much time it takes.
Rig has witnessed more than he wants to, but Parker has been broken down to almost nothing, but she still has some fight left in herself.
Rig is drawn to her, but tries to hold back, not get close, but he can't help himself, especially when she needs the comfort he can give her.
Parker feels like she's on a roller coaster with her emotional moments. One thing she knows is she is falling for Rig, but he is hot then cold toward her and she doesn't know how to manage the conflict this causes her emotional self.
Feeling like nothing, feeling defeated but having a spark of hope is all it takes for this story to explode.
Will Clarissa be able to come back or will Parker always be there instead?
Why are we limited to only 5 stars? This is definitely worth many more than that. This is such an emotionally charged read that you will need some tissue handy. Its been a while since I have had a really emotional read and this one was just that.
Clarissa at the age of 26 is in the fight of her life to get out of a life and marriage that turned violent. Steven her husband is controlling and if things are not done just the way he wants them she risks the abuse he will give her. Every time she has tried to leave Steve has always found her.
When she realizes she needs help in order to get out and to stay unfound by Steve she takes a chance in the small window of opportunity she has. Rig helps her slowly regain her freedom and reclaim her life as Parker. There friendship slowly progresses but can it ever work? Will she ever be free of her past in order to have a future with Rig?
This book was an amazing yet emotional roller coaster ride for me and I loved it. Domestic abuse happens more than people think and the way that Zele captured it and wrote about it just amazes me. This story is not all about the abuse but the fact that someone who is in that situation can get out of it and work to overcome it. Fabulously told.
