Duane Boehm grew up on a farm outside of Petersburg, Illinois. All the time spent driving a tractor gave him plenty of opportunity to let his imagination run wild and not tear up too much equipment. The two passions he developed early in life were the love of playing guitar and reading books.

He eventually moved to a mini-farm outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee with his wife and replaced planting corn with trees and raising dogs. For a number of years he worked as an IT consultant and continued with being a part-time musician and songwriter. He dabbled in writing short stories with the idea in the back of his mind that someday he would write a novel. One Christmas after watching "A Christmas Carol", he was inspired to begin his journey as a novelist.

SOMETIMES KARMA PLAYS A ROLE IN YOUR FAVOR. IN THIS STORY, KARMA PLAYS A ROLE FOR THE BEST

SOMETIMES KARMA PLAYS A ROLE IN YOUR FAVOR. IN THIS STORY, KARMA PLAYS A ROLE FOR THE BEST FOR ALL FIVE OF THE JESH-K RANCH

Back In The Saddle: An Old West Western (A Saddle Tramps Western Book 2) by Duane Boehm is a heart touching story of four young adults and one young teen who are starting their lives as new ranch owners in Laramie, Wyoming in the mid to late 1800's. These five have been through hardships and life struggles that would have caused lesser people to throw in the towel and give up on life. Instead, their past has brought them together in a bond of friendship, love, and family in a way that will hold up to the times to come.

Starting a ranch is not easy and especially if you've never really worked a cattle ranch or even really worked a farm. It's even harder when you move into a new community that is suspicious of how you came into your money to purchase a ranch, suspicious of two twenty something year old men, two twenty something year old women, who are not related and are not married. Thrown into the mix is a fifteen year old Indian boy the four of them have taken in as part of their group as family as well as a partner in their newly acquired ranch. The townsfolk are suspicious, rumors build, accusations flow rampant, and people judge Shane, Jody, Kaib, Hilda, and Elke based on the rumors and their prejudices without even meeting them.

Fortunately, Shane, Jody, Kaib, Hilda, and Elke turn the town's residents opinions through their actions of kindness and standing strong against rustlers, killers, thiefs, and a measles outbreak that locks down the town and places the residents of Laramie at risk for their lives. Karma does work both ways and if you step up to help your neighbor and community for the right reasons, Karma just might work out in your favor.

This is a well-written tell that has action, suspense, good verses evil, sacrifice, determination to help even those who are hateful and cruel to you, friendship, romance, and working together as a team to prosper in a time that your word and actions are everything and hard work is the definition of living from one day to the next. This is a story that I have really enjoyed and hope that Duane Boehm will continue with this series and release at least one if not many more in this saga soon.

Shane, Jody, Elka and Hilda use the reward money they got for catching two notorious outlaws to by a ranch. All is not peaches and cream. They have to fire the foreman and his buddy who turn around and kill some of the cattle and the best bull. Then there are the community members who like rumors better than the truth. The other ranchers don't like them much either. And rustlers to chase after. Very good story!

Excellent read

This was such a joy to read. There was action, laughter and above all much love. To become a family as these five people did was wonderful. Duane Boehm is an amazing author. Would highly recommend this book and all others that he has written. I hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I did.

Good ending. Had trouble throughout the two books keeping straight who was with whom. Made the story disjointed and detracted from the enjoyment of reading the two books. Otherwise five stars. Have read all of his westerns I guess. Look forward to future books.

A good story

I enjoyed this book. It has all the elements of a good and interesting story. I especially enjoyed how the author brought out the characteristics and personalities of his main subjects. You start caring so much you forget it’s a book of fictional characters.
