A SHORT STORY OF ABOUT 20 PAGES

Dean is staying overnight at his rich friend’s house, looking forward to a weekend of fun. Wendell has everything, you see, including a giant four-poster bed in the centre of his bedroom. Big enough to hide under.

While ahead there may be fun and games aplenty, one thing is for sure. Whatever you do, DON’T LOOK UNDER THE BED.

A decent short that conjures a little creepiness on the way to its fairly predictable ending. Reading it while lying in a mostly dark room with only my iPad on its lowest light setting to provide any illumination did not hurt the reading experience at all.

Oh and this one was presented professionally without the final track-changed edits. Unlike what I discovered in the first entry in this short story series.

The second short story in the series and I'm hooked.  A suitably scary plot, impressive storytelling and descriptive prose real enough to give you the shivers. I'm looking forward to C.

This book was really short, entertaining and frightening!! But I must warn you; "PLEASE, DON’T LOOK UNDER THE BED!" And if you smell a hint of tangerines.... Run! Now, I must go turn on my night-light! Thanks a lot, Mr. Wright! Hahaha.

Another enjoyable short story in this A-Z Horror series.

This kind of reminded me of the spooky stories my older cousin, Tim used to tell my sister & I just before bed, when we were all staying at our Grandparents house in Yorkshire. That's about 30 years ago now, so it felt very nostalgic.

Don't read in bed at night if easily spooked. I'm glad I read it in the day, even if I did manage to break my favourire mug in the middle of reading it, oops!

Dreading the third book in this series, as I have serious issues with clowns!

This was another quick fun read from Iain Rob Wright.
I enjoyed this one as well. I can't really say much without spoiling it, just...don't read it before bed.
Looking forward to the rest of the alphabet now!

A very good short horror story, which will make you shiver. Well written and creepy. Something that won't help you sleep.

B is for Bogeywoman (A-Z of Horror book 2) by Iain Rob Wright. I really enjoyed this short story.

Dean is having a sleepover at his school friend Wendell's affluent home. Wendell lives there with just his Father as his Father told Dean that Wendell does not have a Mother anymore.

After playing on Wendell's games console for hours his Father arrives with glasses of milk for them both. Wendell's Father says "The night has arrived and it is time to sleep." Dean thought what a strange saying.

Once lights are out there is going to be a lot more than bumps in the night going on.

This is part two in Iain Rob Wrights new A to Z of horror series.

Dean is twelve years old. He has been invited to stay over at his new friend Wendell’s house. Wendell has just recently moved to the area from Germany. He lives with his Dad, his Mum having died a while back. He seems to have everything, including a huge four poster bed in the middle of his bedroom. As they settle down to sleep after a busy night, Dean discovers the true meaning of the saying, “Don’t look under the bed”.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Iain Rob Wright could write the packaging for a packet of toilet roll and make it enjoyable! In this latest in his series of shorts we have a simple tale about a sleepover. It may be a simple topic. It may be a seemingly impossible task to write something creepy about a sleepover in a twenty page short story. Mr Wright does it with ease, again.

This is old school horror. It reads like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Dean sees, hears and feels things that scare the absolute bejesus out of him while, apparently, no one around him can see, feel or hear the same things. It’s psychological horror for Dean which turns to physical pain and suffering in a horrific way.

When you come to the end of this story you will have a smile on your face. The closing scene makes you go “Ahhhhhhh light bulb moment” and while it explains things and settles your nerves again, it doesn’t take away from the horror side of things.

If you like old horror films that make you jump when something appears from out of nowhere and ones that you would scream “it’s behind you” at your telly, this is for you. It’s one to fill a half hour lunch break or a perfect filler between bigger books if you want something not too taxing. Above all, it’s Iain Rob Wright.

Easy 5 stars.

I will not be dangling my legs beside my bed anytime soon.

Yes, this story gave me the chills. The child finding out what's under the bed is like straight out of a horror movie. I keep on saying 'no, no, no', and yet the character looks anyway (why do they always do that?!). It's really amazing how the author can start a story so innocent and normal; then the gradual increase of dread creeps in at the perfect pace.

The contributing factors to me almost losing my shit from reading this installment in the author’s version of The ABC’s of Horror are listed here

I'm in love with this new series! Iain packs maximum chills into his shorts (that's what she said). I'm really excited to read the entire series. ESPECIALLY 'D'!
