Rate this book
Phantom Rowe lives by one rule—protect what’s his at all costs. That rule’s been tested, broken, and rewritten in blood ever since Raevyn Wylde became his wife. She’s not just the love of his life; she’s his breath, his reason, his balance. Together, they’ve weathered betrayal, rebuilt from ashes, and built an empire that carries the weight of their love and war. Now, with their family growing and the world watching, Phantom and Raevyn are learning how to heal without losing the edge that made them kings and queens of the dark. But peace doesn’t come easy to men born in fire and women who rise like storms. Between growing businesses, buried secrets, and unexpected enemies, the Rowe family must fight harder than ever to hold on to what matters. Because in Phantom’s world, love is war. And Raevyn is the only one worth dying and killing for.

I had the pleasure of reading an advanced copy of Phantom by this amazing author and let me just say you are in for a wild ride with this book!!

This story centers around Phantom and Raevyn and takes you into their lives 15 years after their initial interaction. If you love a story about redemption, second chances and an unhinged MMC who don’t play about his wife, this is the book for you!!

Phantom by Sunshine Novels had me locked in almost immediately because Phantom wasted zero time letting it be known who Rae was to him. That man moves with confidence, mystery, and just enough crazy to keep everybody on their toes. One minute he’s romantic and saying the right things, the next minute you’re remembering this man is not someone to play with. I can’t even lie, the way he loves Rae out loud once he decides she’s his would have had me melting too. And listen… the chemistry between Phantom and Rae? Let’s just say some of those scenes had me ready to turn the fan on and grab some water because whew. If you know, you know.

Rae is that girl though. She’s not weak, she’s not passive, and she definitely isn’t about to sit around being hidden. Wanting to be acknowledged publicly is real and she stood on that. I loved how she carried herself and how she showed up for other people, especially the women around her. She’s nurturing, smart, and a little unhinged in her own way. Rae might not fight with her hands all the time, but the way she gets in people’s heads and plays the long game? Yeah… that woman is dangerous in her own right. And Kaos? That boy is hilarious and clearly his father’s child. The way he rides for his mama and pops up with the funniest little moments added so much personality to the story.

What I loved most about this book is that it wasn’t just romance. It was messy, intense, funny at times, and full of big personalities. Phantom and Rae both have their own baggage and their own way of handling problems, which makes their relationship feel real instead of perfect. Watching them deal with family drama, outside problems, and their own issues while still choosing each other kept me turning the pages. If you like powerful couples, dramatic moments, and a love story where both people are a little crazy about each other, Phantom is definitely one to pick up. And for the people who read it and know exactly what I’m talking about… the theme song for a few of those moments is definitely “Wetter” by Twista. Iykyk.

Arc Review:

When it comes to spicy reads 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Sunshine is one of my faves. Phantom is deliciously filthy while also being romantically swoon worthy. If ya man isn’t willing to unalive any and everyone over you… does he even like you?! Lolll. Rae and Phantom match each other’s crazy, and it’s honestly hilarious to witness. Oh, and their son Kaos…he’s every bit of his mama and daddy 😂 a damn menace. Phantom makes the wrong moves in his attempts to protect his family, but the depth of his love for his wife and son is always felt. I enjoyed witnessing him recognize the error of his ways and work to maintain his place in Rae’s life. I really appreciated the themes of Black maternal health and mental health counseling woven throughout the story. Phan made it clear that real G’s do anything for their lady and if she says we need to go to counseling…then that’s what happens! I’m looking forward to the next book in the ‘Unhinged’ series.

This book started out good and then went downhill for me. I never truly got an understanding as to why he would “go ghost” on his beloved wife and son when we never really saw any threats to them. His wife carried his last name, worked in a public hospital and had just her homegirl as a security/driver. If who he was was such a danger to them if they were public, wouldn’t that be more reason to be closer to them or at least have them better protected(even though we never saw any threats on page or him handling any threats outside a 🥷 staring at his wife or taking her on dates)? Sorry none of that made a lick of sense.

And don’t get me started on Perry Ann. Was that necessary? And the mama being the one to do it? Nah. Part 1 in this series was better. I do think this author is very talented and is a good writer but something (a lot of things) made this one just seem all over the place.

I don’t think I have read many stories where the couple is already married with children. This one was refreshing for me because they got right into it immediately in this story. The author is a new to me author, I saw Pyro’s cover and read it blindly. I read Pyro first and I had no clue his book was a part of The Unhinged series. I enjoyed Phantom because he didn’t care about anyone but his wife Rae and his son Kaos. No one was safe when they crossed him, family included. I wish we got me into his family history because his mama didn't play with that cane. Speaking of family, I hope his son Kaos and Arizona have books or are getting books in the future. I would love more of their story. Pyro has a hilarious moment in this book with mangoes that had me cackling. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Ok,ok,oookkk(spoiler alert)

Toxic! Toxic! TOXIC!!!

The love was there, always. But the back and forth was giving me motion sickness. It was like he wanted to see how long she'd wait to test her, then when she was over waiting and went on a date, he was there ready to act a fool. And she just kept repeating the cycle. Then it seems he cheated on her at some point before the story starts and she cheats on him at the start of the book. A truly toxic mess. ... but the love was present and felt.

Don't drink other people's mango smoothies(Pyro found out the hard way)
The way Phantom checked his 3 brothers at dinner was wild. Adopted!
Perry Ann, she was messy af, like af, but that decision, that was a decision.

Phantom Rowe and Raevyn Rowe have been married for 15 years with a son Kaos. They have grown apart as Phantom thinks his lifestyle puts his family in danger so he stays away but Rae wants, needs, and deserves to be loved out loud. But don't get it twisted; this ain't a sweet love story. Breathe on Rae, you die. Touch Rae, you die. Accidentally bump into Rae, you die. Rae plays with a couple of folks' lives knowing her man is crazy and her son is a snitch. Phantom's mama is off as well.
The book is about what happens when you stop living scared and come out of the dark. When you decide to fully commit to love past the betrayals and mess...both internal and external. D't miss

Mr. Stand on business

Phantom and Raevyn’s marriage is anything but ordinary. Through every high and low, one thing never changes—Phantom’s fierce devotion to his wife. Known for his ruthless “touch her and die” mentality, Phantom may be unhinged, but when it comes to protecting his family, he never plays.

Together they’re raising Kaos, their wild and fearless son who’s the perfect mix of both his parents. Just like his name suggests, Kaos keeps life unpredictable. In a family built on loyalty, love, and danger, anyone who threatens them quickly learns one thing: Phantom stands on business.

Phantom is one sexy, dangerous, and intriguing read.

This book is a full roller coaster of emotions—ups and downs, real-life issues, and some truly tragic moments that touch every feeling you can imagine.

The decisions the characters make will absolutely blow you away, but everything eventually comes full circle. I’m trying my best not to give anything away, but trust me—this one delivers on every level.

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars. A must-read if you want all the feels.

Happy reading!

ARC REVIEW

Obsessive love ✅
Touch her and 💀 ✅
Unhinged Parent ✅
Strong FMC ✅

Phantom and Raevyn Rowe has weathered every storm up against their 15 year relationship. Even if the storm was caused by one another. A new storm arises when Rayven acts on feeling like Phantm doesn’t see her. And one thing is for certain Phantom does not play when it comes to what belongs to him. Family or not! You could barely breathe the same air as her without a threat on your life. Hell even Kaos ain’t play about his momma. He also did not fxck off when reminding her who she belongs too. It was the way he told her “COME HOME” for me. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 If you loved Pyro from Book 1 of the Unhinged Series then come meet his cousin. 🤭🔥

Author Sunnnnnn!!!!! That mf pen is vicious ma’am. Phantom came in and swooped me off my feet hell! As I read this book, Amari and Rayvon’s story broke me down and then built me back up! This was a love story of how to last and how to communicate when we’ve only known to go quiet. Even in his silence, Phantom was intentional and protective over what was his! Then the imagery in this book was top tier. It played like a movie in my eyes as I read it. I’ve found my new man!!

Phantom (Unhinged 2)

Aside from all the lovemaking Phantom and Rae did throughout the book, you learn that Phantom has communication issues and he opted to hide Rae and Kaos from the outside world. Phantom had to come to terms this was safe for him and yet it was suffocating Rae and Kaos. With all the love they shared, Phantom and Rae strived to solidify their marriage and did it in their own way.

Phantom

Ok I thought Pyro was something but the way Phantom came through and had everyone shook was just crazy. The way they had to get through that fire but do it in a way that healed each other was crazy. The unhinged but the need to see each other as something more just made this book so much better. Even when they were apart it was still poetic. I love a healing journey and that never give up energy!!!

Missing parts

I do understand that this was book 2 of an unhinged book but book one only brought phantom name up. Not his story or how he met Rae. Book one was Pyro’s story of him meeting sunny. So many things was missed in this book. The author mentioned something but in the as we read about it already.

Phantom

OMG! Phantom was absolutely everything! I read and loved Pyro, but Phantom was something wonderfully different. The way that man used his words had me in awe. Even when he was learning how to love Rae properly you could still feel the love he had for her on each page. Definitely a must read!

They didn’t lack any sexual tension, that’s for sure. Two ppl fighting in their own way. Phantom shows out real bad 🤣 but we love an unhinged man who don’t play about his wife. My girl stood on business tho, set some boundaries and he finally got it right.

Adding another to my unhinged MMC list - Phantom was fully locked in when it came to Raven. A man on a mission to right his wrongs, clean up his mess, and make sure she was taken care of…by any means necessary. Dark, obsessive, and a very spicy ride that I definitely enjoyed.

I had the pleasure of receiving an ARC!

Okay… I’m not even gonna lie, this book had me in my FEELINGS

At first, I was like “yeah Phantom fine, loyal, protective… we love that.” But the more I read, I started feeling like… sir?? Are you okay?? Because why am I getting stressed just watching how you love!

And Raevyn? I’m not gonna judge her because honestly… I understood her more than I wanted to. Feeling like you’re holding someone down for years and still not being fully seen?? Yeah… that hit a little too close.

There were moments I was rooting for them SO hard, and then the next minute I’m like “yeah… y’all need a break and a therapist”

What really got me is how real it felt. Not perfect, not soft, not romanticized. Just messy, emotional, and complicated in a way that makes you sit there like… “dang.”

And I’m not even gonna act like I didn’t keep turning the pages knowing it was toxic—-I was INVESTED.

If I’m being real:
Phantom’s love? Intense as hell.
Raevyn’s pain? Valid.
Their relationship? A LOT.

Final thoughts:
This book had me stressed, a little emotional, and lowkey addicted. I can’t even say I agree with everything that happened… but I get it. And that’s what made it so hard to put down.

Would I recommend? Yeah… just be ready for the emotional rollercoaster!

I wanted to love this story, especially due to how much I liked Pyro‘s book but I feel like this story was missing so much. OK first on the good I love the love story told between phantom and Raevyn, but I feel like so many questions still didn’t get answered. I would have loved to hear more on the backstory of what happened during those 14 years or even that year where Phantom was just missing incognito. what led to that? I also wanted to know more about the hysterectomy just more details on the backstory that lead them to where they are today. I thought it just was a lot of missed opportunities that could have pulled this plot and story together.

Phantom was Drake lol- “I’m not hiding my kid from the world; I’m hiding the world from my kid”! Show that beautiful woman off! She deserves it! Your son deserves it. You almost lost your wife being stubborn big homey. Their son snitching when the wife tried to go on a date was hilarious!

Loved the women’s center and taking in baby girl! That raggedy auntie needs her tail whipped!!!

Phantom calling Pyro for relationship advice was cute!
