Rising author Dylan Thatcher has his biggest book signing to date, and is worried his "#1 FAN", who has been stalking him online, might show up to the event.
Along with #1 FAN, there are four more thrilling short stories.
Brian O'Sullivan is following the runaway success of CLUSTERF*CK with an unorthodox approach—a collection of short stories.
If he had a manager or an agent, they'd surely advise him against this :)
I know this is going to shock my readers, but I'm going to go ahead and give #1 FAN a solid 5-stars, because I know the blood, sweat, and tears that goes into writing a book! Even a collection of short stories. I hope you guys enjoy it, and as always, thank you so much for your support! It means the world to a self-published author like me :)
From the Library of Sarah Ashley: #23 #1 Fan by Brian O’Sullivan Okay, confession time: I am NOT a short story person. I like my books long, dramatic, and capable of ruining my sleep schedule for at least a week. BUT… if Brian releases something, apparently I throw all my preferences out the window and say, “Yes, sir, I will read it immediately.” So here we are.
And honestly? No regrets.
# 1 Fan is packed with quick, punchy thrillers that you can absolutely fly through. Like, I’ll just read one and suddenly you’ve finished the book!
My personal favorite was The Book Club which, let’s be real, would be like a dream come true for me!
The whole collection had me laughing more than I expected (which feels slightly concerning for thrillers, but I’m rolling with it). Twisty, fun, and just the right amount of chaos.
So if you’re like me: someone who claims they don’t like short stories but is easily influenced by a good author… this one might just win you over too.
“Believe it or not, women love thrillers just as much, if not more, than men.”
Such a GREAT book, it’s a collection of 5 short stories. Each one very amusing and held my attention!
#1 Fan: Wow. So much I loved about this one, but top tier moment had to be the book fight 🤣 👏🏻THE 👏🏻BOOK 👏🏻FIGHT 👏🏻 This one is HIGHLY relatable to today’s time and I loved every word. Perfect gore too.
Rural Gas Station at 2 A.M.: As a Texan, yes the tumbleweeds in the west are crazy. I could imagine this story unfolding as I read it. But so sad about the text message. 🥲
Steak and Potatoes: I thought this one was a little predictable once he brought up his wife cheating until “CUT!”. Not my favorite one but entertaining.
Unreliable Narrator: “I know you hate me by now, but you know what: F*ck you!!”
I highlighted a lot in this one because yes I was lost and yes I ate up every word. Brilliant.
The Book Club: I wouldn’t say this one was a shocker but more of a fun story. Loved the shoutout to Brian O. and my favorite authors in this book 🤣
Dylan Thatcher is going places as an author. He has a huge book signing to attend, but he's concerned that his #1 fan, who has been stalking him online, might turn up. He's blocked them several times, but they still find a way to hassle him....
I loved this story (and the other's). I've just finished reading some deep and heavy books, and these are just what I needed. There's thrills, twists, and a sprinkling of humour throughout them all. The other stories are -
Rural Gas Station At 2am
Steak And Potatoes
Unreliable Narrator and
The Book Club
Thanks Brian (or should I say "kiss-ass 😂?" I just love your writing. You always pull me into your stories immediately. Your narrative is sharp, clear, descriptive, and exciting!!!! 🥰
I am so glad that O'Sullivan decided to release this book of short stories. All of them were funny, original, and surprising. I really enjoyed all of them but the first and last were my favorite because they were a complete homage to his fans and who doesn't love that? This book was different because it was short stories but it was a fun fast read. Totally recommend!
This was such a fun and twisted ride from start to finish. Every story brought something different, but they all shared that same dark, unsettling edge that kept me hooked the entire time.
Some stories leaned into that “evil wins” feeling, others hit with emotional gut punches, and a few delivered that satisfying justice you desperately want after dealing with truly awful characters. The variety worked so well, I never knew what kind of ending I was about to get, which made each story even more engaging.
“Unreliable Narrator” was a standout for me. Watching everything unravel while realizing just how much I’d been manipulated was incredibly satisfying. On the other hand, stories like “Steak and Potatoes” hit in a completely different way, more emotional and tragic than I expected.
And “The Book Club” was such a clever, meta way to end things. As someone who’s part of that exact kind of reading community, it made the whole experience feel even more immersive.
If you enjoy dark, psychological stories with unreliable characters, unsettling twists, and endings that don’t always play fair, this is absolutely worth picking
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A chilling, fast-paced collection! The title story, #1 Fan, is a standout—a terrifying look at how quickly online admiration can turn into a physical threat.
He is a master of the "short and sharp" format. Each story is lean, atmospheric, and packed with psychological tension. If you love unreliable narrators, domestic suspense, and twists that actually land, this is a must-read. Perfect for when you want a high-intensity thriller but only have time for a few chapters.
I have read all of Brian O'Sullivans books and they've all been fantastic, including this one! Every time I read one, I'm just like, WOW, how did he come up with this story! This book is a series short stories. Each one gets better and better all the way until the end. Plus he mentioned one of my favorite authors, Karin Slaughter!! I highly recommend all of his books!!!
Brian has written some fun, interesting short stories! #1 Fan is every author's nightmare of a crazy fan being nasty to other fans and making them concerned for their own safety. These were written with a lot of Brian's humor and a smidge of a self deprecation. I really enjoyed the variety of each story with Brian's unique spin on it!
Brian has done it again! What a great selection of short stories. It's a quick read including 5 intense, dark and terrifying stories. I loved them all! The first one is reminiscent of Stephen Kings Misery. Go grab your copy today!
Brian you have done it again. I was immediately captivated in each story. I didn’t want them to end. I want more. I have questions I need answered Signed- Your #1 fan
I truly enjoyed all the short stories. They all had me going and thinking 🤔!! This was my first read by Brian O’Sullivan.. I am glad I got this book. Now to go read Clusterf**k!!
I’m Brian’s #1 fan! This dude doesn’t write anything but gold! My favorite was Steak and Potatoes, made me think of old school 50s Twilight Zone; much appreciated!
Brian has done it again. Such a great book of stories. Each one drew me in and kept me wondering. I loved some of the subtle nods in there, Freida and the psychological thrillers group to name a couple. I can’t wait for the next book, this just proved what an amazing author he is. I’ve become your #1 fan.
Fast paced and shocking stories! Do you like a happy ending? Too bad! O'Sullivan keeps you on the edge of your seat with these short stories. A must read
Enjoyed each story! The Book Club was my favorite. Each one was short and had a quick ending. Just enough to keep you reading. Well done as always Brian!
Love me a little Brian O’Sullivan. This short story collection was a nice break between novels. Lots of O’Sullivan’s quick wit & crime fighting. Looking forward to more from him.
Brian O'Sullivan is hands down one of my favorite authors. This book is so good and one of my favorite books of the year! Highly recommend! Brian's books do not disappoint! 10/10
