With over 72 sales to her credit since her first publication in 1987, Michigan author Nancy Gideon’s writing career is as versatile as the romance market, itself. Her books encompass genres from historicals and regencies to contemporary suspense and the paranormal. Her works have been published overseas in Romanian, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Danish, German, Icelandic and Chinese, among other languages.

Also listed on the International Movie Database (IMDB), she collaborated on the indie horror films In the Woods and Savage with screenwriting and ADR script credits, and even played the character “Bar Extra.”

A national speaker on writing in general and romance in particular, Gideon is a Western Michigan University honors grad with a major in journalism and minors in history and communications. She’s a member of Novelist, Inc. and the Mid-Michigan, Greater Detroit, PASIC and FF&P chapters of Romance Writers of America®, and is former vice-president, published author co-liaison and award-winning newsletter editor for MMRWA.

The mother of two grown sons, one married and proud producer of her grandson and the other shanghaied into being her occasional assistant, she 's retired from 18 years as a legal assistant.

A prolific writer, Gideon who also writes as Dana Ransom and Lauren Giddings, attributes her creative output, which once peaked at seven novels in one year, to her love of history and a gift for storytelling. She also credits the discipline learned through a background in journalism and scheduling writing time around diaper changes, Scout meetings, band lessons and outings to the Zoo Boo...and, of course, OCD. The due date for her third book and her second son were on the same day...and both were early! When on deadline, she'd turn on the laptop between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. to get a chapter in before work.

While the pace is often hectic, Gideon, a Gemini, enjoys tackling diverse projects. One month it’s researching the gritty existence of 1880’s Texas Rangers only to jump to modern themes of intrigue and possibly a legal thriller or two. Then, it’s back to the shadowy netheworld of shape shifters, vampires and movie serial killers. When not working on her latest plot twist before sunrise, even now that she no longer works 9-5, she enjoys indulging in Netflix, hosting her critique group, and feeding all things fur, fin and fowl. And, of course, reading.

Each new wife for Louis seems to diminish the credibility of Louis’s “ultimate love” for the one before...as if Louis is constant but his women transferable... I feel most sorry for Cassie. Please just turn this one!!

It was alright but was marred by TSTL main character where most of the drama re risk to her safety was along the lines of, Thanks, I know I keep getting attacked when I'm walking home alone, but I'm a big girl so I'm refusing your offer for a ride.

I was furnished with a copy by Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review. Then I realized I already owned it in paperback! :D

This is a classic book, first published during the dawn of the paranormal romance era. I used to gobble up everything Imajinn Books put out, and as I read the first few chapters of the Kindle version being re-released by BelleBooks, I immediately realized that I read this story before! I bought it in paperback way back in the 90's, and it's still a fun read today. Back then a lot of paranormal romance was dark, gritty, and pretty melodramatic. Those tropes are more likely to be seen in urban fantasy today.

This story harkens back to the dark, brooding vampire searching for salvation from a smart but incredibly sexy woman that drew me into the genre, and I still have a love for it today.

I always enjoy stories where the heroine does a lot of the saving, or at least that the hero and heroine save each other -- literally and metaphorically. This is an older story, so Stacy isn't what we've gotten used to in urban fantasy: a kickass heroine in leather armed to the teeth with super powers, super skills, and/or awesome weapons. She is a smart lady and a successful geneticist, which is nothing to scoff at.

Louis, of course, is also of the old school. Hot, sexy, and oh, so tortured. He hit ALL my vampire buttons. Oh, and the classic "wants to be human" story, which has also mostly disappeared from paranormal stories. I still love them, which is why I go back to some of the early novels I bought back in the day. (I keep saying that like it was a million years ago. OMG IT WAS AROUND 20!!!)

The come-here-go-away in this story didn't annoy me as it so often does. It felt organic and completely understandable considering the characterization of Stacy and Louis. It also didn't go on so long that it stopped being titillating and started being annoying, which happens a lot.

The outside conflict was interesting in its own right. A good mystery with some decent red herrings, the questions about who was the threat go on right until the end. The leads' meet cute in the beginning was neat... although I definitely wouldn't want to have a bucket of animal blood thrown over me in order to meet the love of my life. But hey, what do you expect from vampire love?

Best of all, for me, was one of those great stories where the heroine has no idea that the supernatural exists, and has to learn all about vampires from scratch. It affords a terrific chance to immerse yourself in an author's mythology. Another thing you don't see as much these days. Urban fantasy has made us kind of jaded in that respect. Not that I don't keep gobbling it up anyway!

I really enjoyed this story -- AGAIN. The only thing that took a tiny bit away from it was that I never noticed in the past that Ms. Gideon sort of sex-kittenized Stacy, as if to remind the reader that just because she was mui brainy didn't mean she didn't like to get a little... or a lot. But then, I'm a life-long lover of smut, so... it was just a little blip for me. I doubt she'd re-write it exactly the same today.

Still, I have to recommend this story, for everyone that likes a good PNR with some creepy action, or any tried and true vampire fan.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Midnight Redeemer is book 6 in the Midnight vampire novel series by Nancy Gideon. This is the continuing saga of Louis Redman and his quest for a cure to vampirism. For those who have read other novels in this series, this is a more modern take on a story from a prior installment. In this one, Louis meets a geneticist named Stacy Kimball who claims she can provide her medical expertise in solving this puzzle. During this quest, Stacy and Louis fall in love and Louis faces off against an old enemy.

The story was interesting overall. I just didn't like how the author portrayed Stacy. To me, she was presented as a sex kitten with a college degree. Don't get me wrong - the book wasn't full of sex, but every time the story turned to Stacy, the topic was brought up in some form or another. Being a woman with a college degree, I had a hard time wrapping my head around this because it came across as very unbelievable. If Stacy truly was the hard working, dedicated scientist that author was trying to portray her as, she wouldn't spend her night having casual one night stands with men whose name she can't remember. It also made her sudden feelings of love and commitment for Louis seem a little hard to believe. This book was definitely not one of my favorites in the series so far, but wasn't so bad that I won't continue reading.

Finally broke into the Midnight Series after all this time... Been waiting for them to be ebooked so I could download...

And what a disappointment. I was so bored I could stay away.

By 50%, the completely unlikable heroine (a slutty maneater who only dangles boytoys on her string, keeps a disgustingly filthy apartment, sleeps in a kiddie bed with frilly pink crap and dolls - and yet every man thinks is "sex incarnate"?) WTF-ever has barely even been in the same scenes as the hero and they have done no flirting or anything. What? She instead has three men growling over her. And the hero - he's married and deeply loved two other women (so much for once-in-a-lifetime, eh?) and they're both dead and gone, outlived, so he wants to be human and die. (Haven't gotten to the part where he explains exactly why he didn't just bite them and spend forever... With one of them). In fact he talks to them about how much he loves them, can't wait to one day join them, and wonders if they're pushing him toward the heroine for another love... Seriously? This book sucked. So bored and put off, gave up. DNF 50% 2 stars

'Midnight Redeemer' by Nancy Gideon is book six in the "Midnight" series. This is the story of Louis Redman who is a Vampire and Stacy Kimball who is a Human Scientist. This also is a re-release as the book was originally published in 2000.

Stacy has been working finding a link to mortality and possible help to cure people with illness. With a Vampire type Serial killer on the loose things seem to be getting dangerous. Stacy wants to get some of Louis Redman blood as she on to him the he is a Vampire and thinks his blood might help her solve the mystery of her work. Stacy didn't think that she would be attracted to Louis but that seem to be the case also.

Louis has lost Two women in the past and is trying to avoid falling for another human women. But it is hard to fight his feelings for Stacy. Louis starts to think that she might be the key to him becoming human again. Louis has wished for this for so long...can it be a option for him soon?
But with someone appearing to be after Stacy he most try to protect her too.

I have never read a Vampire book.
I have to admit it was quite interesting. I couldn't really tell where the story was going but it wasn't something that I stayed up late into the night reading.
I wont go into the story line you can read other reviews for that. I liked the play between the main characters and even that there was a character that you wanted to hate. In the end I am still not sure if he is a totally good guy or just kind of good.

It may make me look up another in this "Touched by Midnight" series.
I had originally picked it because of the cover as I have never read this author. Now I see it is a re-release. Looking at the old cover I would have never picked it up. Something about a well dressed man or is that Vampire????

This is not my typical read, but I found this an entertaining paranormal romance packed with action and suspense. I felt a strong connection between Stacy and Louis even while each questioned the other’s motives. My only complaint is the way Stacy is portrayed through the eyes of male characters and through her own eyes. Before relying on her intelligence or even looking for a creative solution, she jumps to using her looks to conquer. This also tends to make the male characters seem shallow. Although this relates to Stacy’s past, it felt overdone.

I read this book a few years ago, but forgot about it. I must have thought it was good because I kept it. Now, I'm not as fond over it. I reread it over the last week, and I just couldn't stay hooked on it. It was too predictable. I don't know if it's because I didn't read the books pre-dating this one, but a lot of information seemed passed off. I might end up getting one and maybe two, just to get a good view of what I missed, but this I probably nothing I will ever read again.
