Maggie’s impending wedding finds her more concerned with a cold case than cold feet in the latest from the author of Marked Down for Murder . . .
There’s something 100% off about Maggie and her fiancé Sam’s new dream home in the historic section of St. Stanley. The lights flicker, the doors blow shut, and their cat, Marshall Dillon, hisses at empty space. And there’s something in the basement that’s definitely not a bargain . . .
After Maggie discovers a skeleton in the root cellar, she’s convinced her house is haunted by a murdered man’s ghost. With the help of her Good Buy Girls, Maggie works to tag a killer. But she’ll need to be careful as she digs into the history of her new digs. Someone is willing to keep the truth buried at all costs . . .
This was a perfect ending to this series. The plot moved quickly with some excellent twists to keep me guessing and the Good Buy Girls kept me giggling has they helped Maggi plan her future. I am so glad that my library had this series for me to enjoy.
I loved reading this story! I adored all the characters, but Maggie and Sam were really special. And, of course, Marshall Dillon...
If you are looking for a good cozy mystery to curl up to this is the one! The story line is fluid and flows well, the mystery good. This was the first book I read in this series, and I had no problem "knowing" the different characters. I enjoyed "seeing" the town. And as for the idea of a ghost, well...!
I will be reading more of the Good Buy Girls mystery series.
Book five in the “Good Buy Girls” cozy series revolves around the old house that Maggie has just bought with her fiancé, and the skeleton they find in the root cellar. The military uniform the body once wore is nearly disintegrated, but Maggie is determined to find out who he was and who murdered him.
It too way too long for the mystery to take off in this book. And I really don’t care anything about why Maggie is having such a hard time finding her wedding dress, a venue, a menu, a cake, flowers, etc. All that was just filler for a very sketchy and NOT well thought-out or plotted mystery.
I’ve enjoyed these characters in previous books (and I’m reading this last one before I’ve finished the others in the series), but it seems clear to me that the author lost steam. Just as well that the series is over.
What a great end to the series! I love the characters and shopping with the good buy girls. There was a cold case and a ghost which I loved. I only wish there were more books to read!
This was a bittersweet read. On the one hand, I was excited to have a new story about Maggie and the rest of the Good Buy Girls. But this is the final book in the series, and I didn't want it be over. This one had some suspenseful moments that had me trying to skim ahead on the page to see how things turned out. I caught myself doing that over and over, and I had to make myself stop. Not a bad problem to have. I loved the story and appreciated the ending. I will miss these characters, but at least I still have the other ongoing series I love by this author.
I'm sad this is the final book in the series and even sadder that this book wasn't my favorite. The wedding plans created a lot of filler in this book, and there wasn't much focus on the actual mystery. I loved the idea of the mystery, but it took nearly 100 pages for it to start, and it was incredibly obvious from the start who was behind it. Glad I finished up the series. I would recommend sticking with Jenn McKinlay's other cozy mystery series. These were a bit too corny and filler-filled for me.
The Good Buy Girls are back and better than ever. As with all the books in this series, ALL SALES FINAL would be a bargain at ten times the price. (But Maggie and friends would still suggest you look for the best deal.)
I have adored this series since the first book and I’m not embarrassed to say I consider the group of characters in these stories to be friends of mine. Book one in this series, 50% OFF MURDER, is one of the first cozy mysteries that I picked out and purchased for myself. Up until Book 1, I had been reading cozies loaned to me by my sister who introduced me to the world of cozy mysteries. Okay, back to the review.
Who knew wedding plans and buying a house would bring up old skeletons? Okay, one old skeleton. One that is discovered in the house that protagonist Maggie and her fiancé, Sam plan to make their new home.
As with all her books, having a true talent for storytelling, author Josie Belle filled ALL SALES FINAL to overflowing with mystery, fun, and wonderful relationships (and with this story some unearthly happenings) that continues all the way through this book until the amazing ending.
This book was wonderful through and through, though I’m afraid my review isn’t doing it justice. This was a hard one for me to write. You see, the entire time I was writing it, in the back of my mind I knew this would be the last review I wrote for a Good Buy Girls mystery. Author Josie Belle aka Jenn McKinlay has announced she won’t be writing any more books in this series. I can live in hope that one day she may change her mind, however from what she has announced through her social media pages, it doesn’t seem likely. Rather she does pen a new GBG mystery or not, I’d like to thank Ms. Belle for the hours and hours of joy she has given me through these books and the delightful characters. I’ll miss them.
This possibly last book in the series (sniff, sniff) has been a bittersweet tale. Getting ready for Maggie's wedding was a huge undertaking, at least for Maggie...or was there a reason she could make decisions? Then along comes the find of Captain Bones in their new, historic home...how could Maggie and her sweetie even think of living in there now? Unless they solve the mystery...I will certainly miss this series, this celebration of the friendships of women, romantic love, and bargain hunting. Just add a mystery to solve, and the Good Buy Girls have a complete schedule! LOL funny with wit that the (ugh..middle aged) woman will appreciate.
I really don't want this series to end! I guess if it has to, then this was a really good conclusion for the girls. Maggie and Sam's wedding was perfect for them. The getting-there was a little rough but they got through it. I loved the ghost story added in to this one. I wasn't sure how the author was going to play it out but she did a wonderful job! The murder was an ancient one and had an obvious murderer (or at least the story behind the murder was obvious). Everything tied together perfectly at the end!
I really enjoyed the conclusion to the Good Buy Girls. I liked that Maggie was nervous and indecisive. It made her feel more realistic. The mystery was interesting and while I didn't guess who did it, I was it surprised by the outcome. There is a secondary focus on ghosts and unexplained phenomena, so be aware of this before you read it. I am glad that I waited to finish this series.
Summer, Maggie's arch enemy wants to become one of the Good Buy Girls saying she has changed. Everyone finds that hard to believe and is waiting to see how that goes. Maggie seems to find another body and believes her dream house is haunted. As always a very good read!

Review:
Maggie and Sam are getting married! Yet as the big day approaches, Maggie has not found a dress, venue, cake – even invitations. Is there a reason she can’t make a decision on what, to many brides, would be what they dreamed of since their Barbie doll daze? Why is it so much easier for her to decide on the home they will purchase and live in? And why of all times does Summer Fawkes, her archrival since childhood, now want to be one of the Good Buy Girls? Oh, mysteries small and great.
Mysteries great, as in the yucky surprises they found in their new home, the Dixon mansion: slamming doors, lights that go off – or on. The skeleton Maggie found in a blocked-in room in their new historic home was a little over the top, even for the Good Buy Girls. Sam’s charming cat, Marshall Dillon, certainly wouldn’t be caught in that basement again.
Josie Belle’s latest Good Buy Girls Mystery, All Sales Final, is fifth in the series. It can be read as a stand-alone, and most who enjoy this celebration of life and friendship will want to read the others in the series. They are too fun and full of excitement to miss even one of the rest.
The Good Buy Girls are a unique group of friends brought together by the art of being bargain-hunting, thrifty, coupon-cutting survivalists. Maggie is the proud owner of a consignment shop and has a fine eye for china, linens, and other collectible vintage goodies. The Girls come from various backgrounds. Claire is a librarian, Joanne a new mother, Ginger, with whom Maggie has been BFF’s with since childhood and the mother of four boys, and Maggie, whose grown daughter wholeheartedly approves of her marriage to Sam. The four friends are a hoot, loaded with Southern charm and wit. Maggie’s and Sam’s mothers are forces to be reckoned with. Yet were I in want of a friend, I would want someone like any one of these ladies on my side. Even the future in-laws.
The plot is at once exciting, suspenseful, and surprising, with the author pulling plot turns and twists out of her keyboard more adeptly than Maggie can negotiate the best price on a set of Limoges. Somebody had to have killed Captain Bones, as Maggie and Sam called him, yet the spinster sisters who lived there until their deaths couldn’t have known they shared their home with him. Or could they? Blue Dixon, their heir, unwittingly shared clues when consigning the sisters’ furniture and vintage clothing to Maggie. The historical society also shared information that led them in another direction. In the end, this reader was thoroughly stumped and mis-directed, and completely enjoyed this mystery. I highly recommend All Sales Final to adults of any age who appreciates mysteries with friendships new and old, bargain-hunting, and very well-written stories of suspense with a helping of romance.
When I found myself laughing and reading this out loud to my cat Miss Kitty I knew I had found a goody. This is the last book in Josie Belle's A Good Buy Girls Mystery series. Maggie and Sam are house hunting and it appears the one that Sam is crazy about has some craziness going on. Doors creaking and general weirdness. To add to the situation.. you guessed it a dead body is found in the root cellar! Yipes! Hold on to your girdles ladies.. haaa .. as they get closer to discovering the truth .. danger is on it's way to them. Lots of fun and well worth the read. I did have this sent to me for my honest review but no matter I loved it . Bravo Josie Belle this was a lot of fun and enjoyment. - Pople Backyard Farm
Maggie and Sam are getting married in three weeks. They buy what they think of as their dream home. But there is something 100% wrong with the house. The lights flicker there is a cold draft and Marshall Dillion the Cat doesn't like it. After Maggie finds a Skeleton in the root cellar she's convinced the house is haunted by a murdered man's ghost. With the help of the Good Buy Girls Maggie works to find the killer. But someone is determined to keep the truth buried at all costs.....
Fifth in the series by Josie Belle, about 4 friends who seek out sales, as a team. Along the way the leader stumbles on murder. The handsome sheriff enters in book 1 and continues in each book, worried, exasperated, and frustrated by the lead buyer. Cute series, somewhat predictable. Look for Marshall Dillion to appear in the series. He's adorable.
Maggie operates a consignment shop in the small town of St. Stanley, Arizona, and she and Sheriff Sam are days away from marriage. They bought a new house in the town’s historic neighborhood, and it’s here they imagine spending their peaceful nights and days. But the more they associate with the house, the more quirks they see in it. Lights flicker for no reason; there are strange drafts of wind; and occasionally they hear moaning somewhere in the house.
Maggie stumbles into an old root cellar and finds there a skeleton. There’s enough of a uniform left to determine he was a military man of some sort, but since the house predates the Civil War, no one is initially sure what war he would have fought in or why he resides in the cellar.
This appears to be the final book in the series, and loose ends tie together well. Even the infamous Summer Phillips, a long-time nemesis of Magie’s, comes around spectacularly.
I dislike ghosts in cozy mysteries. They’re a lazy writer’s trope or so it feels to me. Worse still, the motive for murder that ultimately surfaces seems weak to me.
But out of a sense of love for these characters and this series, I can send this on its way with a two-star salute.
All good things must come to an end, and boy, did it go out with a bang. Maggie and Sam have rekindled their youthful romance, and are now looking to get married and move into a house of their own (not a spoiler). When they come across the perfect historic home, they snap it up, only to discover a skeleton in the basement... because why not?
This final book incorporates all the characters we’ve grown to love, as well as introducing some fun new characters, like Sam and Maggie’s mothers, and a ghost. Yep, like I said, we’re going out with a bang. I really enjoyed the murder mystery aspect, especially since it brings a person from Sam’s past back into his life who isn’t so keen on his remaining in this backwoods town, let alone marrying Maggie.
Maggie fell in love all over again with her first love, of when she was five, and is wrapped in wedding plans, purchasing a house, which she believes to be haunted.
The Good Buy Girls agree, but, suddenly a new issue puts the house in a new problem. A skeleton in the root cellar.
Very good read, the mystery takes the reader right to the last chapter!!!
This was a good combination of upcoming wedding blues with the usual drama of the mother's and the bride trying to keep them at bay while deciding what she how and where she wanted her wedding, a buying of a haunted house and dealing with bone's. The author did a good job and not letting us know how the bone's end up at the house they bought but also a beautiful gift for the bride to be and it was very unexpected.
Great series. I absolutely love this series. This was a great addition to this series. I hate how this is the last book in the series. Although, it was pulled together well. With little hints throughout the book as everything slowly comes together. Has a great cast of characters, in a great town. Also fun tips of ways to make a wedding great without spending an arm and a leg. The tips were all great and the mysteries were great and kept you guessing.
Again, this series is fine. I found Maggie to be annoying in this one. I did appreciate the change in Summer here. I'm not a fan of supernatural in series that didn't have supernatural to begin with. At least in these types of formulaic books. But, whatever, this is the last one, so I've finished with this series.
Sigh. It is always sad when you come to the end of a good series of books that you have enjoyed. I’m going to miss reading the adventures of the Good Buy Girls. Nonetheless, I’m happy for Maggie and Sam.
I thought this book was fun. I believe in ghosts and this book made me chuckle. I liked the way the book played out and how it could be used as an opening to another book and kind of an end. I hope Josie Belle decides to do another book to this series. HINT HINT!
This has been a wonderful series and all the other installments were 5 star reads but this one ending the series was such a disappointment and such a struggle to read. Seemed so different from the other installments and really bogged down for me.
My first in this series. The group of women, that are firm friends, are the core of the story. Sam and Maggie’s relationship and wedding woes serve as a background to the murder mystery.
