Catching Light

Rate this book
Oliver's been stuck in the hell that is writer's block for what feels like ages. He's out of ideas, neglecting his life, and all around losing his mind. His partner has had enough. Adam's tired of watching Oliver stare blankly at the screen. It's time to bring back his spark, and he knows just what to do. A vacation is in order. A beautiful beach, a sparkling waterfall, and lots of love should put everything to right.

This is a short novella with a happy ending.

This is such a perfect, feel-good, sweet, sexy read! I gobbled it up with the biggest, goofiest, happiest smile on my face!

I'd never read about an established couple, and for this being so short, I was a little worried if I'd be able to connect to the characters. Well, I shouldn't have!! I was on board with Adam and Oliver from the very beginning.

I was fully connected and invested in their relationship. I loved their easy with years of practice banter and their affectionate and intimate romance. I didn't feel like I was missing anything. And they balanced each other out so well. Whether they were 1 year, 10 years or 50 years into their marriage...it didn't matter. It was clear they truly belonged together & that their love was solid.

If you're looking for a quick, sweet, romantic, and sexy read....PICK THIS UP!!

"You know you're never going to be able to top this," Oliver murmured.

Adam's laugh ruffled his curls. "We'll see about that."

Oliver pulled back, framing Adam's face with his hands. "No, really," he said, dead serious. "This has been perfect and amazing, and it's all because of you. We just had sex under a waterfall! Who does that? We do! You do that!" He kissed him, rapid pecks on his lip. " I wouldn't be writing again if you hadn't proposed this. Everything. It's you. You make anything possible."

Adam kissed him, just holding his lips there against Oliver's. "Don't think for one second that I don't feel the same way about you."

Catching Light is short, lightly steamy, and cute, if a little boring and repetitive.

I liked seeing an established couple (the MCs have been married a few years; the book is vague on details) keeping the spark alive.

However, I'm not a big fan of Harding's writing style: too much telling and overuse of the passive voice. I always feel detached from her characters.

Adam and Oliver are husbands. Oliver is having a serious case of writer's block with deadline looming in and Adam finally has it up to his head especially because he sees that Oliver is ready to basically kill himself over exhaustion of trying to write. He forces Oliver to take a vacation with him. And they ended up having good times, sexy times, adventure times, and well, Oliver is able to finish his book after all :).

This is SUCH A LOVELY short story !!! *hearts in my eyes* First, it featured an established couple. Second, Adam is a darling. And third ... well, third is that the book made me feel happy *sigh*. I loved reading about them, I could see how much they loved each other and the fun that they finally had in this vacation, even if Oliver pouted and dragged his feet at some of them (like when Adam asked him to jump off a cliff!) *lol*.

It didn't have angst, which was totally fine since it was meant to be light read in between heavy novels anyway. Now I wanted to read Oliver's book, darn it! I mean come on, it featured a love story between a human and his dragon. DRAGON! Why don't you write that, Ms. Harding? WHY?

If there is anything I can sympathize with at the moment, it is the mounting horror that is the Blank Page. So when this story started out with what has practically been my life for the last three days, I was automatically on Oliver’s side.

This is a short, but very sweet story of Oliver (who is a writer with a terminal case of writer’s block) and his husband Adam (who is about three seconds away from strangling Oliver). Adam, seeing that Oliver is about to fall of he rocker and roll all the way down into crazy-town if he doesn’t get his story written, decides that what they both need is a vacation. Oliver doesn’t want to go-–he’s got a story to write, dammit!-–but is willing to go along if it helps keep Adam happy. It turns out that beaches and hikes are very good for relationships…but they are also great for inspiration as well.

I really enjoyed this short story. It was a bit of bastion of sweet in the middle of what has become a very stressful week, and I found myself wishing it was longer so I could stay in Oliver and Adam’s happy place just a little bit longer.

Now, I’m not one for hiking (or most outdoor activities that might involve me falling off or down things if my klutziness kicks in (which it always does)), but the setting of this book was very beautiful. And if there was that beauty along with some sexy waterfall antics (not to be confused with watersports. That’s something completely different :p), well, that’s all the better.

If you got an hour to kill and you want something light to read, this might be a good bet. The characters were interesting, the setting lovely, and the quips about Oliver’s dragon story were cute.

This is really sweet, without any angst. I really would like to read the story about the man and the dragon the MC Oliver has written :)

Oliver is a writer with a terminal case of writer's block. He has to complete a story for an anthology in only two weeks, and all he can do is stare at his blank laptop screen, trying to will words to appear. His husband Adam finally puts his foot down, and declares them on vacation for the next week. There are to be no tech toys allowed, but Adam does let Oliver bring his laptop, which he can only use for an hour a day. So, they spend the next week at a lovely resort, hiking, surfing, getting massages, and all in all, having a blissful time. And whaddya know? The words start flowing!
The moral? You can't write about life without experiencing it.

I really liked that this story featured an established couple in a secure relationship. There was lots of humor, lots of love, and no real angst. And of course a happy ending!

A charming short story of a burnout author and his VERY supportive husband. Who wouldn’t want an Adam in their life - Oliver was a lucky chap! The narrative took reader on a week holiday in Mahi, from hiking to cliff-jumping to surfing and playing with dolphin to frolicking among themselves ...if you know what I mean *wink*wink* ;-) This is the sort of read that leave you smiling and aww-ing to yourself while reading. Cute, this.

Oliver has writers block and he's getting frustrated, his husband Adam knows exactly what he needs, he knows Oliver will grumble but Adam is going to get him away for a break no matter what. A short but rather sweet story.

I stopped before the end.

The challenge for this couple was whether one of them should use his laptop or not. I kept wondering when the plot would start.

Oliver and Adam are an established couple. Oliver’s a writer dealing with writer’s block for a long time and because of that he neglected everything and everyone, including his partner. Adam’s had enough of that and he organizes vacation for them.

I loved it! It was a short, enjoyable story. The plot was engaging, filled with sweetness and good times. Both Oliver and Adam were lovable and so good together. They were seriously perfect for each other. There were TEAM! :)

Every page of „Catching Light” was a pure pleasure. Delightful, charming and sexy story. Highly recommended!
