Just when I think I’ve found my footing as a druid apprentice, the fae courts stop watching from a distance—and start circling.
Someone powerful has taken an interest in me.
That’s not a compliment.
An assassin is moving through the supernatural underground, and every whisper points back to one
Mine.
Colin says this is what power attracts—attention, ambition, enemies.
Agent Lucas Caruso calls it a threat assessment.
I call it a problem.
Because whoever wants me dead isn’t acting alone. Something older is shifting behind the scenes. Something tied to factions that don’t forgive and don’t forget.
And when a new alpha with too much charm and too many teeth steps into the picture, lines start to blur in ways I can’t afford.
If I can’t weather the storm gathering around me, I won’t just lose control of my magic.
I’ll become the spark that sets off a supernatural war.
Druid Forge launches a new female-led Celtic urban fantasy series set in the bestselling Druidverse®—featuring found family, slow-burn enemies-to-lovers tension, fae political intrigue, and an underdog heroine fighting for redemption.
For readers of Patricia Briggs, Shannon Mayer, Seanan McGuire, and Lindsay Buroker.
M.D. Massey describes himself as the prototypical INTJ. His eclectic background provides him with a rich tapestry of experiences to draw on when crafting fiction, as evidenced by the believable worlds and relatable characters he creates.
As a former Army combat medic (91B), professional martial arts instructor (Krav Maga, JKD, FMA), and women's self-defense instructor, he possesses a unique understanding of close combat, firearms, and criminal violence that few authors can match. This knowledge provides an element of realism to the Druidverse™ novels, setting them apart from other fantasy series.
Mr. Massey lives in the Texas Hill Country with his family and a huge American bulldog that keeps him company while he writes. When he's not in his office or at the local coffee shop writing, you can find him in his garage pummeling inanimate objects or knife-fighting with his friends.
Fiadh, apprentice druid, for some reason has a bounty on her head. After a failed attempt to murder her Colin arranges through his girlfriend for a werewolf bodyguard.
Fiadh is learning as she goes, and her master is conspicuously absent through most of the story. He is only a supporting character in this series after all. Some humor, but not as much as can be found in the Junkyard Druid series.
I love Fiadh. What she lacks in magic skills/experience, she makes up for in attitude, imagination and an inability to give up when life gets tough. And the World Below is learning that even a Druid, even one that’s barely trained, isn’t a person to get on the wrong side of
Fiadh Reilly is out to get another test and gets further druid training
Poor Fiadh survived jail but just when she's trying to get hard life back on track someone puts a bounty on her head. She makes a new little helper in Jinx and has two guys vying for her attention. The guys are continually sniping at each other but they do come in quite handy in saving Fiadh. Maureen and Colin make appearances with valuable information and timely assistance. Lots of action and mystical moments.
Good start to a new series. The only issue I have is the main character seems to be left with little guidance, just ends up fumbling through while everyone around her has knowledge to help, or at least make her aware of things. I look forward to the next installment of the series.
I like the new characters, the progression and the wider world. It’s a different take on the series, which I like. I can’t wait to find out what Colin’s been up to, but I really like this new series and different takes on established characters.
MD Massey never lets you down, every book every tale a helluva ride. These new characters are worth the read alone. One of the best fantasy writers there is, can't wait to see where M.D. takes us and her from here.
I'm so glad you still have druid verse ... I'm sure everyone who read Colin McCool story are still enjoying reading this new take. Looking forward to book three
