I came to Excelsior Parks for my dream designing world-class roller coasters.
Theo Riverton is the one variable I didn’t account for.
He’s the brilliant, demanding head of the Orlando office. And he has no problems reminding me that I’m the rookie who hasn’t earned her place at the table. Yet. Every design meeting feels like a stress test—with me as the weakest structural component.
The more he pushes, the more I want to prove him wrong. But the more time I spend under his watchful eye, the more I realize his impossible standards aren’t personal. Beneath the designer suits and grumpy facade is a man who cares deeply about his people. Including me.
And that’s the problem. Because falling for the boss is strictly off-limits.
Worse? I’ve also been living a double life. I’m not just Kaori Minami, a junior engineer. I’m also a Japanese princess. If Theo or anyone finds out the truth about who I am, the independence I’ve fought so hard to gain will vanish in a cloud of paparazzi flashes.
I’m used to calculating G-forces and fail-safes, but navigating the high-speed turns of a forbidden attraction? That’s a whole different kind of thrill ride—and I just hope I can survive the fall.
Tomi Tabb writes the kind of romance she loves to read: smart, sweet, and strictly closed-door. From the competitive world of professional sports to the hidden lives of modern royalty, her stories are filled with slow-burn chemistry, heartfelt banter, and happily-ever-afters without the spice.
When she isn’t dreaming up her next meet-cute, Tomi is pursuing her doctorate in History, proving that you can be both a serious scholar and a hopeless romantic. A California native, she lives with her family and one very spoiled cat who firmly believes she’s the real royal of the house.
This is a refreshingly different closed-door contemporary romance!
It features a STEM heroine who has just landed her dream job designing world-class roller coasters. Kaori Minami is also a Japanese princess who has fought hard for her independence and is going to great lengths to hide her real identity. When she meets her boss, Theo Riverton, sparks fly… too bad that falling for the boss is off-limits.
I enjoyed the well-presented grumpy/sunshine, the he-falls-first, and forbidden-attraction tropes, and was rooting for someone I empathized with and understood her predicament. I was caught up in a compelling read with wonderful tension. Cheers to an author who crafted something unique and managed to execute it well.
I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.
Her goal was to build roller coasters...not end up on an emotional one
Talk about a wild ride, Theo and Kaori really took me on one throughout this story. They are so sweet together, and I loved how naturally they clicked. The end of this book had me in a chokehold and I did not want to put my Kindle down.
While the romance between our two main characters was great, I do want to mention another part of this story. The unintentional found family dynamic was so much fun to read. Kaori’s coworkers welcomed her with open arms, and it was so enjoyable watching those bonds develop. Between The Office references and the Star Wars quotes, I had an absolute blast reading their interactions.
This is a great romantic comedy for anyone who loves a few nerdy references mixed into their story. It’s also just a genuinely fun, cozy romance you can pick up and enjoy at any time.

Don’t you just love books where the characters are so vividly described that you can picture them in your mind as you’re reading? Our story begins during finals week for Kaori, and she’s tucked away in her favorite corner of her local library “reviewing equations for tomorrow’s Dynamic Systems and Controls final.” She needs to be focused and in “the zone.” Even though she’s determined to stay focused, her phone chimes, signaling she’s received an email. She sees the senders’ subject and must click on it. It’s an interview for a position as an Engineer at Excelsior Parks-a Theme Park. Kaori can hardly believe she’s been invited for an interview. Her mind is racing with thoughts of what she can say to make herself stand out above others who are also interested in this position. Kaori dream job has always been working for Excelsior Parks that specializes in coasters. It’s a long shot, but she’d love to work for them in London. Kaori spends the time prior to her interview studying everything about Excelsior Park from “past projects, their design philosophy, their development timelines, and even their stock-performance.” She wants to be prepared for whatever questions they may ask. Theo and Nathan are also attending the interview. They discuss her project and ask questions about her design and what she would do given a couple of scenarios. Kaori is in her element and nails all the questions they ask. There’s something you need to know about Kaori, she’s a princess, yes, a real-life princess. Her parents are scheduled to come to the United States to attend a function at the White House. Her father would like her to attend as well. Kaori is excited and nervous about her first day at her new job. She’s assured that only key people need to know she’s a princess. Her mentor, Anya “is already proving to be the kind of mentor I didn’t know I needed.” She asks her to sit in at a design meeting. She’s warned to have her A-game ready since Riverton will oversee the meeting. He’ll be cranky and doesn’t care for rookies- “only engineers who can do the math and those who can’t.” Four of her co-workers invite her to join them for drinks. “We go to Original Jorge’s on Fridays. They have trivia and two-dollar tacos.” Now, Kaori knows she needs to be a team player and get to know her co-workers. This might be an innovative idea and she agrees. They decide to go with Kaori’s suggestion of G-Force Five for their team’s name. This is a bonding time for them to get to know each other outside the office and it goes well. They tire with another team for First Place. Monday morning is team meeting time and Kaori will be seeing Theo Riverton again. He interviewed her for this job. As they’re discussing a new ride Quantum Leap. Kaori has assessed some scenarios, but that’s not enough for Theo, he wants specifics. “Define ‘variance.’ One millimeter? Two? Because that difference may decide whether our guests scream in delight or utter their last words.” Wow, talk about intense. He reminds her that the range is for ideal conditions. He names all the ways things can go wrong quickly. As Anya steps in to add that Kaori “will expand the range and rerun it as wee advance the draft.” Theo replies with “You shouldn’t have to rerun the analysis. You know better than to assign a rookie a task beyond their depth.” Kaori is more than embarrassed about his opinion of her in front of everybody. Anya continues to support Kaori that she’s training and no one should expect her to know the process this quickly. He continues to tell her that she’s responsible for her. “We can’t afford babysitting on a deadline.” Now, this story kept me up late for two nights. I just kept saying “Just one more chapter.” Well, we all know how that goes. I do not want to reveal too much about this adventure. Will Kaori be able to measure up to the standards? Will Theo take the time to see what she’s capable of doing? If you think Theo’s a terror, wait until you read about his father. Will Kaori have a chance to go to the office located overseas where Theo has been? Can this team work together and be successful? Do you think Theo can admit he’s wrong and misjudged Kaori? To find out the answers to these and so many more questions, get your copy of Coasting Into Love by Tomi Tabb today. You won’t be sorry!
Falling for Your Boss While Hiding a Crown -Totally Normal Behaviour Coasting Into Love by Tomi Tabb - ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
I was not prepared for how much I would love this one. 🎢✨ I know I am saying this a lot but you just have to believe me on this one!!
Coasting Into Love follows Kaori, a roller coaster engineer who has fought hard for her independence and her dream career, oh, and she also happens to be a Japanese princess secretly hiding her identity from everyone around her. Her new boss Theo is grumpy, demanding and all business. You already know where this is going, dont you? 🤭 And yet somehow it still managed to surprise me. 😍
What makes this story stand out is how refreshingly different it feels. This is a closed door romance, no spice, just genuinely sweet moments, heartfelt tension and emotional connection that actually gets room to breathe and develop naturally. The grumpy sunshine dynamic, the he falls first trope, the forbidden boss and employee attraction, it's all here and all executed really well. Those small almost moments hit so much harder because of the slow burn build up. 💕👀
Kaori is such a wonderful heroine to root for. Her STEM background never feels like a character quirk tacked on for the sake of it, it’s simply part of who she is and you can feel how much her work means to her throughout the whole story. Watching her grow more confident in her career while navigating her secret identity and her feelings for Theo was genuinely compelling. 🎢
But honestly? The found family dynamic between Kaori and her coworkers was one of my favourite parts of the whole book. The Office references, the Star Wars quotes, the way her colleagues just welcomed her with open arms, I had an absolute blast reading every single one of those interactions. And this is just the perfect book for me. 😂💛
The ending had me in a complete chokehold. I did not want to put this down. Tomi Tabb has crafted something genuinely unique here and I cannot recommend it enough, especially if you love workplace romance, hidden identity tension and a heroine you can truly root for.
A wild ride in the very best way. 🎢✨

Rating: 5/5 I received an ARC for my honest opinion.
Coasting Into Love delivers the perfect mix of chemistry, humor, and heartfelt moments, making it such an enjoyable and easy read. It’s full of charm, romance, and moments that will leave you smiling. If you’re looking for a story that’s both light and meaningful, this is definitely one to pick up. You’ll find tropes like hidden identity, clean romance, grump x sunshine, royalty, and found family.
One of my favorite parts of this story was the connection between the main characters. Kaori and Theo’s chemistry was immediate, and their banter felt natural and engaging. I loved watching their relationship develop over time, especially as they let their guards down and allowed themselves to be vulnerable with each other.
Kaori is such a brilliant character she’s determined, kind, and has a huge heart. She’s so down-to-earth that you wouldn’t even guess she’s a princess until her secret is revealed. As for Theo, I’ll admit I didn’t love him at first because of his grumpy attitude. But as the story unfolds, you start to see that he’s just a classic London workaholic, always buttoned up, always pushing himself, and never knowing when to stop. Once his softer side begins to show, though, it’s impossible not to fall for him. He’s sweet, caring, and knows exactly how to treat someone right. Plus, his fun side especially when it comes to finding the best views and roller coasters made me love him even more.
The emotional depth in this book really stood out to me. While there are plenty of light, swoony moments, there are also deeper layers that explore personal growth, past struggles, and the courage it takes to open your heart again. Those elements added so much meaning to the story and made it feel even more impactful. The pacing was great, and I found myself flying through the pages without even realizing it. It strikes the perfect balance between romance, character development, and just enough tension to keep things interesting.
I also really enjoyed the overall vibe of the book. It has that comforting, feel-good energy that makes it easy to get lost in, while still delivering a story that keeps you emotionally invested from start to finish.
I would like to thank Tomi Tabb for the opportunity to review this book.
ARC book review. Thanks Tomi Tabb for the ARC opportunity.
This is a sweet story between a resilient man and a down-to-earth princess in tackling intense moments side by side. Both of them are STEM professionals who have great passion in their fields and I am amazed by the way they apply Physics concepts in problem solving.
At first, Theo’s grumpiness and the reason behind it shocked me. I wonder if Kaori contemplates her choice on the other half. Rest assured, Tomi is good at penning characters’ growth, and I can’t help to cheer for Theo’s thoughtfulness along the way.
Royalty trope is one of the highlights worth mentioned. I am happy to read about the life of an independent and kind princess. Kaori is the epitome of hardworking royal who carries out royal and workplace duty with full responsibility. Her personal traits are appealing even without the royal title.
Far from being a rigid STEM environment where everyone strives to secure a place in the prestigious company, the workplace also has heart-warming moments. Professionalism, soft skills, friendship and bonding among colleagues mentioned form a supportive work culture. I have to admit, the atmosphere is what makes it a dream workplace of mine (without Theo’s grumpiness of course).
As for Theo and Kaori, I like the way they open up their hearts to each other after a series of significant moments. The conversation between them is not overly sentimental but carries a logical yet romantic undertone. The two roller coaster designers interact in ways full of fun and warmth although they mainly talks about Physics.
Theo and Kaori’s story shows the coexistence of analytical minds and romantic souls. I love the story so much. If you are interested in how experts in designing roller coaster coasting into each other’s hearts, this story is for you.
This book has you going right from the start and has the ideal mix of chemistry, humor and heartfelt moments that had me swooning to the end! I love all the different troupes involved: hidden identity, found family, grumpy vs. sunshine, slow-burn, and forbidden love.
Kaori has just graduated and landed her dream job as a junior engineer building roller coasters. She's also been leading a double life as a Japanese princess since her family is royalty. But, she doesn't want anyone to find out because she's afraid that the independence she's fought so hard to gain will disappear.
Theo is the head of the Orlando office and the grumpy boss who is demanding and keeps pushing everyone, especially the rookie, Kaori, to meet impossible standards.
The emotional depth the author brings out in this book really stood out to me. I love the light, swoony moments which there are plenty of, but there are also deeper layers that explore personal growth, past struggles, and the courage it takes to open your heart again. All of these added so much meaning to the story and made it feel even more touching and powerful! The pacing was great, and I found myself finishing it before I knew it. It strikes the perfect balance between romance, charm, banter, character development, and just enough tension to keep things interesting.
I loved this book and didn't want to see it end! I highly recommend it! I love these quotes from the book: “That’s exactly why I did this.” His eyes lift to meet mine. He shifts his hand, threading our fingers together, his thumb sweeping once across the back of my hand. “You matter to me, Kaori.” and “I’ll always choose us,” I answer. “I just need time to figure out what that looks like.”

I received an ARC of the book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I must say when I first started reading this book I was a little intimidated by the geek speak of engineering involving roller coasters. But it did not take long for my fears to evaporate as the characters were fleshed out and the story took off. I was mesmerized and enchanted with the story and all those intimidating words were now background noise.
I loved Kaori's brilliance and her fearlessness in wanting to earn her own way without using her privilege as a stepping stone for her education and/or career. She was so down to earth. There was nothing uppity about her. She was charming and so kind.
Theo was another matter, at least in the beginning. He was a buttoned up, workaholic grump, but once the cinnamon roll hero came out, he captured this reader's heart. This young man knew how to treat a lady. As I learned his backstory, I could more fully appreciate his standoffishness and his grumpiness. I never thought I would say someone had earned the right to be grumpy, but Theo had.
This book was so interesting. I would have never thought about a romance featuring park engineers. I love a good roller coaster. This ingenious story was a breath of fresh air in the romcom world.
Thank you to Happily Ever After Reader Services and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Coasting Into Love by Tomi Tabb was such a genuinely enjoyable ride from start to finish. Kaori Minami is a roller coaster engineer who is secretly a Japanese princess. She’s trying to prove herself in a demanding field while protecting a life-altering secret. The push and pull between her royal duty while maintaining her personal freedom felt very real.
Theo Riverton is grumpy, demanding, and all business, but we see his character soften over time. His dynamic with Kaori feels natural and believable. Their banter is genuine and their mutual respect grows as they work together. Their relationship unfolds at a steady, satisfying pace, and the “forbidden” boss-employee element adds just enough tension to make those small, almost moments feel especially meaningful.
One of my favorite parts of this story was the STEM element. It never felt overdone—it’s simply part of who Kaori is. You can tell how much her work matters to her, and I loved watching her grow more confident in that space when other parts of her life felt uncertain. That balance between her career, her identity, and her emotions added depth without ever slowing the story down.
I appreciate that this story is a closed-door, contemporary romance. There’s no spice—only sweet, heartfelt kisses with a strong focus on emotional connection. It gives the relationship room to breathe and makes the romance feel sincere and grounded. If you enjoy workplace romance with strong chemistry, a touch of hidden identity tension, and a heroine you can truly root for, I’d absolutely recommend giving this one a try.
Royal with a hidden identity: ✔️ Grumpy but lovable boss: ✔️ Fantastic group of side characters: ✔️
To be honest, I didn't think I would like this book as much as the others in the series because I loved the unexpected royals themselves so much and this book was about a princess who had no identifiable connection to any of them. But as I read, I stopped caring about that because I got so engrossed in Kaori's story.
I hate spoilers, so I'm not going to go into detail, but this was a really fun read. It's got the typical hate at 1st sight which always leads to love (at least in the books and movies). Don't worry, if you want a villain, you'll still get one, just not in the form of Theo. But it's not just Kaori and Theo that we get to know and love. Kaori's coworkers are fantastic. No workplace drama, they're hilariously geeky, and they've got each other's backs.
In the end, we get the happy ending we all wanted. Is everything working out better than expected entirely realistic? Probably not, but if I wanted realistic, I wouldn't read feel-good novels. I like the escape from reality and knowing that the characters I fall in love with get everything they deserve. Yet another fantastic book by Tomi Tabb.
Kaori Minami arrives at Excelsior Parks determined to live out her dream of designing world-class roller coasters, leaving behind her secret identity as a Japanese princess to build a life and career on her own terms. As a junior engineer in the Orlando office, she faces constant pressure from Theo Riverton, the brilliant and demanding department head who never lets her forget she’s the rookie. Each tense design meeting pushes her to prove herself, but over time, she begins to see that his high standards come from a place of genuine care. As their connection deepens into something forbidden, Kaori’s carefully constructed double life grows harder to maintain. When a trip to the London headquarters reveals Theo’s deeper ties to the company and the president uncovers Kaori’s true identity, she becomes the target of blackmail meant to save a failing empire. Now, caught between duty, independence, and an unexpected love, Kaori must navigate risks far more dangerous than any thrill ride she’s ever designed. I am going to be honest and say that I have never really read any workplace romance books before, and it's never been a trope that I have been a fan of. But this book makes them more like friends than anything else! And I really enjoyed reading it!! Spice and Language: none
I loved this workplace romance, not only for the tension and chemistry, but also because I never thought I’d be so interested in the physics and engineering of roller coasters!
Kaori Minami lands her first job after graduating from MIT with Excelsior Parks designing roller coasters; it's a dream come true. While her co-workers are a fun bunch, her boss, Theo, is a cold grump.
Like the uphill approach on a roller coaster, with all that anticipation, you feel Kaori and Theo slowly begin to fall for one another. Theo’s grumpy facade and his stony wall begin to crumble. But Kaori has been hiding the fact that she is a Japanese Princess, and that may send things into a loopy-de-loop.
I had so much fun reading this. Kaori’s eclectic group of co-workers gave off such warm found-family vibes, with the meals at Mamma Lina’s and trivia nights. I was glad that we got to visit with Kaori’s international and royal friends from previous books.

WOW! THis book was something else! i enjoyed reading this one so much! i never read a book with this concept before! Our FMC Kaori is a physics genius sent to work on engineering rollercoasters. Author Tomi Tabb makes physics seem fun! if you told my 11th grade self who fell alsleep in class from boredom she would be so amazed that i actually enjoed reading a book with physics and engeering front and center! I felt this book was so enterating, and interesting! I was definelty on a emotional roller coaster, pun intended!
Tropes you will find are: Workplace ROmance Women in STEM Roller Coaster Engineering Found Family Grumpy X Sunshine
Coasting into Love is apart of the interconnected Standalone series, Friends of the Unexpected Royals! The first book in the series is Designs on Love, and Book 2 in Engineering in Love. Book 3 in COasting into love and our FMC Kaori also happens to be a Japanese Princess.
I loved this book so much and can't wait to read more in the series! I highly reccommend this one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the first book I’ve read from this author. The worst part about it was, I did not want it to end! The story sucked me in and would not let go. I was completely immersed in this book. First off I was impressed with the author’s engineering lingo, her finesse in spinning the story and creating characters that you fall in love with. From the moment you meet Kaori, you are in awe of her intelligence, her wit, and strong presence, not to mention she is a royal princess. Theo is Mr. grump extraordinaire, but you quickly see a soft teddy bear. But his character is also not straightforward. He worked hard to get where he is. Climbing up the ladder to be pushed back down at every turn. He became irritable, isolated, and miserable. One of my favorite.(of many) scenes was when Kaori stood up to him in their first meeting. From that moment on, I was thoroughly invested in their story. Everything about this book worked for me. I especially appreciate it being a closed door romance, and only two Bible curse words, yet the tension and swoony vibes are there. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Author Tomi Tabb did an excellent job in making you understand and feel a part of the roller coaster team that Kaori is on and Theo is her boss. There are a lot of details to the physics of these amazing rides, but I at no time felt overwhelmed by the details. I really enjoyed the budding romance between Kaori and Theo. The places he takes her and the thoughtfulness he put into their dates was special.
Kaori and Theo were a great couple as they supported one another through trying circumstances. Theo was under stress from the things Mr. Harris did to Theo, and someone had to put a stop to it. While Kaori had a lot to lose, she didn’t back down or give into what she knew was right. I loved how she stood up for herself and Theo.
If you like royals, hidden identities, clean and workplace romance, and found family, this book is one you’ll enjoy.
I received a copy of this book from the author. I was not obligated to write a positive review.
I enjoyed this sweet romance. There were some surprising twists especially with Theo's father. What an awful person. There was one twist that I half expected that didn't happen and I'm glad because it would have been a step too far for a father to do. But frankly, all his steps were steps too far. I was grateful for how that part of the book turned out. I loved the found family in the Orlando office. It was such a delight to see how they treated each other. They were supportive and more than just work associates. They were really friends and might as well have been family. I also loved Theo's grandmother. We didn't get to see her very long as a reader but I could feel her influence throughout the book. Kaori's family was also very supportive. For the most part, one would never know she was royalty but when it mattered, she was there for them and they were there for her. I enjoyed this story and the writing style of the author. *contains a little mild language
Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for providing the ARC for this book.
I devoured this book much faster than I expected. I loved the simplicity of the MMC and FMC’s relationship and how it developed so smoothly and naturally. The tension near the end was suitable considering the storyline and the backstories but it wasn’t just a needless third-act breakup which I greatly appreciate. The characters had depth and had layers to them. The side characters all played important roles and were sufficiently fleshed out, in proportion to their respective roles in the story. I also appreciated the bits and pieces of different formatting - like text messages or news articles and such. Also - I love the concept of the characters being roller coaster designers - I find that very cool! I’m so glad I read this.
My first Tomi Tabb book, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It took me some time to get used to her writing style, but once she hooked me, I was in.
This is not your typical "romance starts in the first 1-2 chapters" type of sweet romance. Tabb takes time to set the scene and introduce her cast before letting the romance bloom. That's a different style of writing than I'm used to, so it took me a few chapters to settle in, but once I did, I couldn't wait to see how the story ended--I lost quite a bit of sleep in my need to know what happened!
There were so many fun, new aspects to this book, including a new look at a royal romance and such a unique setting/career path for the MCs. If you like a slow burn and royal stories, I highly recommend this book.
3.5 stars
I received an ARC copy of this book. The opinions are my own.
Coasting into Love was exactly the kind of read I needed. I first fell in love with Tomi Tabb's writing through the Peppermint Playbook series, so getting my hands on another book by her was an instant yes. This is the third in the Friends of the Unexpected Royals series but reads beautifully as a standalone — the characters are so vividly described that you feel like you're right there in the Orlando heat with them. Kaori and Theo's connection is instant and completely infectious, and the forbidden boss romance layered with a hidden princess identity makes for such a fun, swoony combination. I love a good secret identity romcom, and this one delivers. I was emotionally invested from the very first page to the last. Sweet, fun, and absolutely worth the ride.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I now have a new favorite Tomi Tabb book! This premise hooked me, a Japanese princess who is also a roller coaster engineer, but I stayed for the sweet romance and the characters. I loved the uniqueness of the characters and their professions and roles. I appreciated the quirky and loyal side characters.
I appreciated the nuance of choices in the book. Not everyone ends up in what you think would be the ideal happily ever after ---> the mmc does not end up running the company, but happy endings abound!
Although this is part of a series, enough context was given to be read as a standalone. I hadn't read all of the books before this one and was still able to follow along relatively easily. This was a sweet romance, I'd rate PG for kissing.
Arc copy from NetGalley! Coasting into Love was such a great read and honestly had so many things I love in a romance.
The writing style immediately pulled me in—it was easy to read and really flowed, which made it hard to put down. I also absolutely loved the representation of a woman working as an engineer. It added something fresh and made the story feel even more engaging.
The dynamic between the characters was so good. If you like grumpy x sunshine, this definitely delivers. Their interactions were fun, and I found myself really rooting for them.
And the forbidden love aspect just made everything even better 👀 it added that extra tension that keeps you hooked.
Overall, such an enjoyable read and definitely one I’d recommend if you love character dynamics and a good romance.
Coasting Into Love is a captivating, hidden identity, grumpy/sunshine romance with a STEM star as the female lead. One of the best books I have read this year (and I have read more than 120 books this year)! I adore Kaori, the bright engineer who just wants to design roller coasters and hide that she is a Japanese princess. It took a while to warm up to Theo Riverton. Once I discovered why he was so driven, I quickly came to recognize his better points. Theo's dad is a real piece of work. I was fascinated with the design issues that Theo and Kaori faced. There were a few surprises I will not spoil. Kudos to Ms. Taub for such a brilliant story that kept me up until 6am! I was sorry to reach the end.
Thank you to Tomi Tabb for my complimentary eArc of Coasting Into Love. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Coasting Into Love is the 3rd installment of Friends of the Unexpected Royals series. They do not need to be read in order if you do not mind spoilers.
This was an absolute delightful Women in STEM romance. It was just what I needed and to get back on track after a failed fantasy read.
Theo and Kaori have a bumpy start but things smooth out when she discovers his softer side. But Kaori is hiding a big secret and you just know things are going to go off the rails when it comes to light.
Did I understand any of the “big words” (no) Did I enjoy the roller coaster ride romance (YES)
This book is the first one I have read by this author. I appreciated the strong female character who stood up for herself and others.
I enjoyed the engineering discussions even if I did get lost as they worked out the issues that were holding up the project.
The meet-cute and relationship that develops between Kaori and Theo is sweet. The co-workers are a great found family for both of them and they support them no matter what happens.
Overall a solid romance with a STEM focus and great cultural references.
Thanks to @tomitabbauthor for the advanced reader copy.
A charming romance with a STEM and secret identity twists. Kaori is determined to make her mark with her dream job as a roller coaster engineer. Theo is the grumpy supervisor to her sunshine with a prickly nature that makes him unlikeable initially. But as his respect and admiration for Kaori grows, his sharp edges soften, and he lets his guard drop. That's when you start to fall for him just as he does.
Add in the slow burn elements and you have the makings of a solid romance that you can sink your teeth into. At times, the pace drags, but the unique backdrop (a secret princess who is a roller coaster engineer) makes for a compelling reach
Your story was so cute and felt like watching a fun Rom-Com movie!
Kaori, a recent graduate of MIT has always dreamt of working at Excelsior Parks, a premiere rollercoaster designer. She lands her dream job but it comes with a catch its at a field office in Orlando, Florida not HQ in London and her boss Theo... bad attitude, and rough to her on her first project.
Theo, head of Orlando office for Excelsior Parks, has a candy bar weakness, and also may come off blunt and harsh.
As the story unfolds you find out one of your main characters has a secret identity that gets exposed at the worst possible time. You also get a beautiful romance story with the over-the-top dates, modern 'skype' date, nerdy conversation, and so much more! 💕
I personally loved all the rollercoaster 🎢 talk, as amusement parks are basically my happy place! ☺️
This story contains: 🩷secret identity 🩷bad family dynamics 🩷found work family/friends 🩷rollercoasters 🩷romance
This was my first experience with this author's work, and I enjoyed it a lot. I love puns and the title caught my attention and set the story humming on a very creative note. I admired that both Theo and Kaori were passionate and invested in designing roller coasters which were unique and safe. I liked that both characters had secrets which added depths to their personalities. I enjoyed the curves, dips, and twists in their romantic ride which reflected riding a roller coaster in my imagination. I was gifted a copy of this book. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which expressed my honest opinions regarding this book.
