This was supposed to be a quick and easy read, but I got busy and it ended up taking forever. It was good except I was expecting more of a surprise. I think a good twist can be hard to do with so few characters. It kept me entertained!

Tell me why I spent the first 100 pages so sure that Dallas was the killer? I do not know if the author did this on purpose but he seemed too nice to be true and i thought I had the plot on my hands. Well, I was wrong. One thing that I loved about Greek Row and this book is how Meyers is able to put the narrations right where they need to be. The police reports right after a crazy scene, the flashbacks and don’t even get me started when Molly’s pov came up. I previously gave Greek Row five stars but this book exceeded all of my expectations. At the end I knew that Isabela and her boyfriend had something to do with it because they were just too quiet but I was not expecting the plot that Jana was cheating with Isabela’s boyfriend. One thing I loved about both books is how you see that no one is innocent. One thing I missed was maybe having a pov from Isabela because on my perspective she is articulated enough for me to want to see what was going through her mind. I am sure Phynley will be a great author and I am excited for her to release new books with different plots maybe with more “complex” topics. I already borrowed Greek Row to a friend and she is loving it as well! I hope she comes to Texas so I can get an autograph before she becomes too famous😭

OH EM GEE. without spoiling anything in my review i just have to say the PLOT TWISTS are INSANE. not even the plot twists but just the entire plot, the way it’s written, the police reports etc. IM OBSESSED!!! as someone who is normally a romance reader, this was very different to my usual read but omg did i eat it up?!?!

honestly i was happily surprised with this book! the author's writing growth definitely showed throughout the book. it was unpredictable throughout the entire book and i really enjoyed each twist. i wish the epilogue didn't feel so rushed but it was a great book nonetheless.

**My Review: 4 Stars ****
I’m a sucker for a "locked-room" mystery, and Save Our Sins definitely delivers on that front. The setup is classic—a group of eight students trying to escape a campus serial killer by heading to a remote Florida island. Of course, the minute they get there, things go sideways.
What I Loved:
The atmosphere is top-tier. Phynley Meyers does a great job of making the island feel like a cage rather than a vacation spot. Once the storms roll in and the supplies start dwindling, the tension becomes a living, breathing character. I also really appreciated how the "friendship" in this group started to fray almost immediately. Everyone has a secret, and watching them turn on each other felt earned and genuinely uncomfortable. It kept me guessing whether we were dealing with a stalker from the mainland or a traitor in the inner circle.
My Gripes:
While the pacing is generally fast, I did find a couple of the middle chapters dragged slightly as the group circled the same arguments. I also felt like one or two of the characters were a bit "slasher movie archetypal"—you know the ones who make decisions that have you shouting at the page. A little more common sense from the protagonists would have made the threat feel even more terrifying.
The Verdict:
If you like And Then There Were None or The Guest List, you’ll enjoy this. It’s a solid, atmospheric "whodunnit" that makes you want to double-check your own door locks. A very strong 4-star read for any thriller fan looking for a bingeable weekend book.

Ummmm hello this was SO GOOD!! I did not guess any of the twists, but looking back, there were juuust enough subtle hints for the reader not to feel duped and like it was dropped out of nowhere, but also a small enough hint that they don't pay attention to in the moment. Very fast paced, and I loved the mix of chapters being present, recent past, articles, and detective interviews.

This is not a spoiler but i have coworkers that see my goodreads and I 1000% was secretly reading on my kindle at work because I just had to know what happened next

I really enjoyed reading this book and got to a point where I just wanted to know what was happening and didn’t want to put it down.

I kind of guessed it was sawyer that had something to do with the deaths just but even with the reveal I didn’t feel like just because I predicted it that it wasn’t good. I did think Isabela could be involved too just bc how close they were but I didn’t have any idea as to what the reason behind Makayla’s death was.

And max being almost a murderer too? CRAZY


I was so happy that Molly ended up surviving I was hoping she did.

It’s not often that I’m so entranced by a book that I’m physically incapable of putting it down, but this was SUCH A GOOD READ! Great character development, clear setting, and constant internal battles with myself on “WHO DID IT!?” Truly a fun book for mystery/thriller lovers!

Phynley definitely has a bright future ahead of herself writing like this. I’ll definitely be reading Greek Row soon, and any of her other releases.

I loved every minute.

I found this book on tiktok. The same old video of an author trying to promote their book with a scene in the book.
But, It wasn’t the same old..
It intrigued me,
A story of 6 acquaintances,stuck on an island when one goes missing, whilst a murder investigation is ongoing at their school.
It wasn’t something I'd heard before.

So I decided to download it on my kindle.
And I'm so thankful I did.

This was so incredibly written.
I'm in a hugeee reading slump at the moment because this year I have exams and I've been under so much stress from constant revision that I'm too exhausted at the end of the day to pick up a book.
But today, I picked it up and couldn't stop.
I read from about 35% to the end.
I kept telling myself 'one more chapter'
Until I ended up finishing.

I love the way this was written to make us trust certain people. I tried to predict the plot twist based on the cliche ,always done:
'It ends up being the one who's not ever done anything wrong in the book who's gained the trust of everyone and is super kind and the love interest'
And I wouldve been livid if it was because I genuinely did love Dallas
But it wasn’t .
Which I'm surprised about.

I really loved the way the characters were developed throughout the book. How everyone was somehow suspicious.
I love how there are so many layers to the suspicion aswell.
I love how we find out so many secrets and that makes the characters change and I loved the character development of some of the characters.

I would say that I definitely learnt not to judge a book based of the tiktok that was made to promote it.
Because I listened and I did not regret.

I would 100% recommend this to anyone who like mystery.

Save Our Sins was a fast-paced thriller full of secrets, lies, and twists that kept me hooked from beginning to end.

One of my favorite things about this book was how wrong my theories were. Every time I thought I had things figured out, another twist would send me in a completely different direction. I genuinely kept guessing until the final reveal, which is something I always appreciate in a thriller.

The crime junkie in me spent a good portion of the story wanting to yell at the characters, “Don’t you know better?!” and “Why would you do that?!” Their choices were frustrating at times, but they also made the story impossible to put down because I had to know what would happen next.

I flew through this book in less than a day. It was easy to read, engaging, and packed with enough suspense to keep the pages turning. My only criticism is that the climax and ending felt a bit rushed. So much happened in the final 20% that I almost got whiplash trying to keep up with all the revelations and developments. While I enjoyed the ending overall, I would have liked a little more time to sit with some of the major moments.

Even with that, this was a fun and addictive thriller with a unique premise, plenty of surprises, and an ending I never saw coming. If you enjoy twisty thrillers that keep you guessing until the very end, this one is worth adding to your TBR.

College Spring Break On An Isolated Island What Could Go Wrong?


I really enjoyed this book, it really had me guessing who was lying, who's telling the truth and also questioning why acquaintances decided it was a good idea to stay on a deserted island for a week. This definitely gives off beach read vibes and I had the book done in two days.

Save Our Sins is an atmospheric murder mystery. The author beautifully describes the scenery throughout the whole book. The best part about the story was the police interview transcripts, I loved them. This was a way to give a few clues but also keep the confusion going for the reader which I appreciated.

Personally I felt Save Our Sins could have had a little bit more suspense, it was a fun college mystery but a few more conflicts or scarier conflicts on the island would have been great. However, that's personal preference. I like more of the edge of the seat, stay up all night gotta find out who survives kinda suspense. Save Our Sins was more mellow, which for a mystery beach read it matched the vibes.

This book was insane. I absolutely loved the thrill of it. The mystery part of it is what really got me hooked. I did have a hard time picturing all of the characters at the beginning because eight people is a lot to think about for me such as deciphering between their personalities and their appearances. However, once I created a version of the characters in my head of how they looked like it was alot easier to become invested in the story. I was so frustrated in the middle of the book because Carter and Max did not seem as adamant about wanting to find Molly until they learned she was pregnant. Of course after finishing the book, Max had his big secret to uncover which makes sense but Carter in the beginning was acting stupid and just wasn’t helpful about finding Molly until he caught Danica in the bathroom and she told him about Molly’s pregnancy. Like yes that’s obviously a big deal but baby or not you should’ve already been on ten toes to find Molly. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was a great mystery thriller and I want to read more books like this!!

i really enjoyed this book! i never know what to expect when reading books from smaller authors, so i was a little apprehensive about picking this up, but it was actually pretty good! the plot was nice and interesting, and, mixed with the chapter lengths, it kept boredom at bay. i also LOVED the interview chapters, they were a nice touch!

i’ve seen the way she plans out her books on tiktok, where i originally found this book from, and it seemed like a pretty solid setup. the only criticism i have, which really isn’t criticism at all, is the one minor name inconsistency at the beginning of the book. we are introduced to dani’s best friend molly, and her name stays the same, except for the spelling. at one point it was spelled as mollie. not even a big deal, it just threw me off for a second (i thought i was losing my mind and it had been mollie all along)

will be reading more from this author!

This book was captured in such an amazing way, especially for the author being relatively young I see her as such an inspiration.
I’ve been in a reading slump for the longest time possible and saw her book on TikTok which is when I decided to immediately purchase it.
Save our sins is perfectly fast paced for readers who usually get bored while reading especially when it comes to mystery genres, yet still detail comprehensive. From the well thought out articles and interviews to the very slight romance build up until the end. This book is filled with a variety of plot twists in which even you may guess the fun is in knowing how or why that plot twist happened.
Will definitely be purchasing another one of her books and already looking forward to a book signing event!! 🤗

I My only notes I’d say is wishing there was at least one chapter POV from another character at the end and knowing how Gabby was doing as well. Besides that, wonderful read!
