Claimed by the Dragon #1

Claimed by the Dragon, Book 1

Rate this book
Ginny Reed is smart and sassy, and she doesn't know how to keep her mouth shut. She knows everything there is to know about vampires and works as a paranormal crime investigator. She’s good at her job and understands vampires more than humans, so she solves her cases easily.

Nothing can go wrong, right? Wrong. When she's assigned to investigate a crime in dragon territory, she'll realize just how much she knows – or doesn't know – about dragons. What she does know, though, is that she won't become like one of those submissive dragonesses; that's not her style.

Cedric, one of the fiercest warriors in Clan Spitfire, doesn't like diplomats, investigators, or anything that smells of bureaucracy. In fact, he actually dislikes non-shifters. When he is assigned to babysit a female human investigator assigned to his clan, he decides to make her life a living hell. He'll soon realize that he might be vulnerable to the human's charms...

Claimed by the Dragon is the first book (14,000 words or about 60 pages) in a dragon BBW serial and ends in a cliffhanger. This is not a standalone book.

Content warning: This book contains profanity, adult language and steamy scenes between a handsome dragon shifter and a curvy woman. It is only suitable for mature readers.

Claimed by the Dragon is divide into parts. Part one is a freebie. It gives you a tiny taste of the world, cultures, and creatures the author has created.

Ginny is an investigate and sent into Dragon Territory, even though she knows nothing about dragons, to solve a murder. Cedric is an arrogant dragon who does not like non-shifters.

I am not really sure how to rate a book that is in pieces. When I pick up a book I want the whole thing, not just part of the story. I did find the world and creatures interesting. I can’t give you any real idea or feeling on the characters. The story is just to short to get an accurate feel on them and the relationship they have. Where the author ends this part, well, it’s a cliffhanger. Things where just starting to get good when bam it’s over. I personally don’t like cliffhangers unless its a full book and the next clarify’s that cliffhanger.

Claimed by the Dragon is very short, ends on a cliffhanger and is part one of three. Nothing romantic or claiming wise happens in this first part. All we get is an introduction to our characters and how the world works with a little mystery into a murder that happened.

Just get into the book and it ends ugh. Someone killed a human lead investigator and made it look like dragons but genny is sure it isn't. So her boss tells her she has to stay with the Dragon clan to work this out. She's not happy and neither is the Dragon assigned to her. Great story line can't wait to read next installment...

What a waste

This reads like an assignment in an English as a Second Language class that was written by a horny pubescent.

DRAGON DELIGHT !!!

Title: Claimed by the Dragon
Author: Meghan Spence
Designation: Book One of Serial, Not a Standalone, Contains Cliffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited
Claimed by the Dragon is the first book in an exciting new serial by Meghan Spence and it totally rocks. And yes, I did say serial so this is not a standalone story and it does end with a cliffhanger. This is my first time reading her work and I'm definitely impressed. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I truly enjoyed this story. Yes, it does have several grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors but those are easily corrected with a little editing and none so bad to distract me from the story. I am not a professional reviewer but I do know what I like and what I don't and I felt that this story had a lot of merit. It's obvious to me from the very first page that this book is not just a piece of fluff. It has substance with a fascinating plot and compelling characters but you have to be willing to invest your time and continue the series. The story is exciting, imaginative, intriguing, suspenseful, romantic, flirty and arousing. The dialog is snappy and well written. The characters are engaging, sassy and sexy. The author does a great job combining these elements to create a wonderful paranormal romance brimming with drama, mystery, suspense, murder, romance and heated attraction. And FYI, the criticism of the heroine's curves referred to by another reviewer are self criticisms, the way she sees herself. We all are a little self critical of what we perceive to be our flaws, right? Sometimes, all we need is a little positive reinforcement, maybe from a handsome dragon shifter.
Curvy Ginny Reed is an investigator with the Paranormal Corps. She's smart, sassy, works hard and knows her stuff. When her district supervisor is murdered in dragon territory, she is promoted and assigned the case which unfortunately requires that she not only visit Clan Spitfire to investigate but also reside with the Dragon clan to conduct her investigation. What the heck? Her specialty is vampires not dragons. She wants to refuse but it's this or lose her job and she loves her job. It will be torture but she'll manage somehow. Besides, it's only for two months unless she can solve it in less time. She's strong, she's capable, she can do this. She's immune to a clan of sexy dragons. Right? Maybe not! Handsome Cedric of Clan Spitfire is assigned to protect the human government female by his cousin Ragnar, Dragon Chief of their clan. Nope, never going to happen! He hates humans! And she's certainly not staying in his home with him and his sister. His cousin has lost his mind! He will simply pick her up, take her to his cousin and demand that she be assigned to someone else. Simple, right? Wrong again! The human female is lovely, spunky and has luscious curves. And she smells so good. The other dragons will be all over her. She's definitely trouble. He will have to protect her and keep her away from the other males. Huh? Just for her sake, of course. Maybe he will be able to suffer through this assignment after all. Oh my! Sexy dragons-check! Beautiful curvy paranormal investigator-check! Murder, danger, mystery, suspense and heinous enemies with malevolent intentions-check! Instant attraction, sass and romance-you bet! I can hardly wait to read Book Two. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Don't be fooled this isn't a story, it is barely a piece of a story! And, why it's called Claimed by the Dragon, I don't know, it should be called Let's Meet a Dragon... barely!
There are words not being used correctly, that is also annoying, e.g. when talking about how she is not stick thin and she has the curves and plushness to resist (?) a dragon and his cravings for a night, maybe... handle (?)...etc.
How many times can one say I am not like your females and won't be cowed, in how many different versions, upon an introduction... apparently... A LOT!!!

This was ok. I kind of liked what I could see of the story. I had a hard time with the main female lead. The blurb described her to me as one way but I kept reading her in a different light. I am not sure if that is my error, or what. Also, I am not a fan of serials so I am trying to decide if I liked the story enough to wait for the complete boxed set.

A great start to the series!

I like how the attraction between the hero and heroine was almost instantaneous and looks like it will only get hotter!
The addition of a little mystery surrounding yet unexplained deaths on dragon lands promises to keep me looking for more from this author.

Loved It

The story was great and the characters were awesome. I loved reading about dragons and they are my favorite shifters. It has action, suspense, humor, and the attraction between, Cedric and Ginny. So ready to read the next book and to find out how it works out for them.

2.5 stars. I'm not sure what to say about this one. 51 pgs barely gives you enough to get a real feel for the characters and the world the author is trying to create. I did enjoy what I did read but this was entirely to short to even qualify as a book to me.

Good start

Seems like it cut right off. I liked the start of this story. Hope the rest are not so short. I will at least try the next book in this series cause I want to see what happens next.

It is really just the first couple of chapters of a book. No resolutions and the cliffhanger is rather lame. but the premiss is interesting.

Dragon Exciting

Great story, with just enough intrigue to keep you guessing. The hero and heroine are strong willed bum heads. Love the tension.

Good Read

This was a good read that any paranormal reader would enjoy. I just felt that it was too short. Looking forward to read book 2.
