The Mata Hari Suspense Series, Book #1
A single woman — A double life
High fashion model, Sadie Stewart, is a dedicated undercover CIA agent used to getting her man. But this time she’s chasing a power-hungry international arms dealer stealing ancient Egyptian amulets. Brilliant, ruthless and slightly wacko, he’s a hard catch. She’s willing to risk everything to stop him, but the handsome Sebastian Wilde, who looks like a modern Viking, keeps getting in her way. Her independence is shaken as he stirs feelings in her that she thought only existed in fairy tales. Can she put their attraction aside and get the job done?
When Sebastian sees Sadie in a high speed motor-boat flying down the Grand Canal in Venice, with the Italian military police hot on her tail, her beauty and courage intrigue him. He has a personal vendetta to stop the trading of looted art, and when it looks as though she’s involved in that shady world, he decides to stop her. Could the femme fatale really be that evil?
Their adventure spans the globe with scenes in Venice, Florence, Amsterdam, Cairo and New York.
Can they work together and stop the heist planned for the Met Museum of Art? Protecting the relics becomes their shared goal, but it’s not all about ancient magic and power. Love hangs in the balance.

Sadie Stewart is a drop-dead gorgeous supermodel who’s traveled the world and been on the cover of countless magazines. Even though she’s aging gracefully, she’s almost approaching thirty and the bell is tolling. Time to think about her future and her cover. Sadie leads a double life... she’s a CIA operative.

She’s on the hunt of a crazed arms dealer on the hunt to steal rare Egyptian artifacts. He believes these amulets will bring him the power he needs. She needs to get closer to him, to earn his trust using any means necessary (hint: feminine wiles) and to prevent the theft. It’s going along swimmingly until she runs into Sebastian Wilde.

The attraction is instant and the sparks fly hotter than either of them is prepared for. Sadie has a job to do and she doesn’t need handsome Sebastian saving her every time she turns around.

Sebastian, on the other hand, knows there is something about Sadie, something he just can’t shake. One thing leads to another and soon the both of them are in over their heads. Can he save her or will it be too late?

The plot is fast paced and filled with twists and turns I didn’t expect. I was glued to my tablet. This is a must read for anyone who loves romantic suspense. The historical background on Egyptian art fascinated me and the author did a superb job with the research. The ending had a slight cliff hanger but I was okay with it because it just whet my appetite for the next book.

Favorite Character/Quote:

“A lion of a man, he bristled with intensity and purpose befitting a general in an inter-galactic war.”

My Rating: 5 stars

The author describes this book like a cross between ‘covert danger and Indiana Jones’. That’s a pretty apt description as this book has lots of intrigue and danger.
Sadie is a beautiful vixen. She is a model by day and a CIA operative by night. She is infiltrating a theft ring in order to access the criminal Anubis. I loved hearing about her modelling job and her famous ‘pout’. She’s a beautiful woman, but the mind underneath is as deadly as her legs. She inhabits a world that I can only imagine from my couch.
She meets Sebastian in Venice. She is eluding the police in a boat chase and he gives her a running chance. When they meet up later, the sparks are flying. The sexual chemistry between the two is immediate and very hot. Sebastian is completely taken with Sadie. He’s no slouch himself – a blond giant who wants Sadie to himself for an extended period of time.
But that doesn’t happen. The two share fiery kiss throughout the book, but it was so stressful waiting for these two to get together! Every time I thought this has to be it…nope! The plot was fascinating and moves very quickly, but I was so interested in seeing how these two connected on a horizontal level!!
The plot revolves around the Egyptian business man who wants artifacts to garner more power. The story moves around how Sadie climbs into this sphere and how she operates as a spy. It was exactly the kind of life you imagine a spy would have. Sadie travels by private jets, stays in palaces, has encrypted cell phones and has a CIA handler. It was so cool to see a female version of James Bond.
She is so distracted by Sebastian at a time when she really can’t be. He flies all over Europe, Middle East and America to help Sadie. He truly believes there is something special between the two and he also doesn’t believe that Sadie is a black hat. He wants to give her the benefit of the doubt and to use his connections to make sure she stays safe and in his bed. Having this huge, golden Dutch man following you and watching your back is very attractive. The author writes characters that are exciting and likeable.
This was a fun book to read. When I was reading it I was imagining films like James Bond, The Tourist and The Saint. I am looking forward to more adventures with Sadie and Sebastian as they were great characters and now that they have had their time to get to know one another – the next adventure Sadie goes on will be a riot.

This book grabbed a hold of me in the first chapter and just wouldn't let go. It is loaded with action and secrets. I am still not sure what to think about one of the characters butt I am hopeful more will be revealed in books 2 & 3. I love the dynamic between Sadie and Sebastian, and cat l can't wait to see what the future holds for them. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review, which in no way influenced my opinion. I enjoyed the book so much that I pre-ordered books 2 & 3 industry l immediately after finishing this one.

Sadie Stewart leads two lives and they are coming to a head like she never imagined. Her cover is a fashion model and her real job is a CIA agent. She is undercover posing as a model nearing the ending of her career which isn’t so much a cover as the truth. The undercover part is where is starting to steal to help with her impending retirement. She starts by stealing some jewelry but only from the heavy insured, then upgrades to some art with hopes of gaining a certain persons attention. The girl she works with is more dangerous and connected then Sadie was lead to believe. While at a party she meets Sebastian and then sees him again at an art show at his gallery Eros. Sebastian knows she is a thief but he is also incredibly attracted to her. He contacts a friend of his to see if he can get some more information on her and who see might be. Sadie doesn’t have time for the things she feels when she is around Sebastian. Then she is kidnapped by her ex and saved by Sebastian. Maybe he can be of some help to her as her current op is going sideways. She is in deeper than ever before and has a feeling there is more to it than her handler is telling her. Will Sebastian be able to help Sadie? Could he be her one? Will she be able to survive this op? This book has danger, romance, love, and more. Sebastian and Sadie are drawn together like magnets. Neither one has ever felt like this for someone else before. Sebastian has this overwhelming need to protect Sadie even once he learns her true identity. He likes her more when he learns that she isn’t steal to steal but to get to someone bigger. She is just playing at being an art thief. Sadie winds up learning things and finding out that she may still be a bit naive. She finds herself not sure if she wants to continue being part of the CIA. She likes helping and knowing that she is part of the greater good but she doesn’t like being kept in the dark. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Sadie has a funny personality and quirky attitude and times. Sebastian seems really laid back except when Sadie could possibly be in danger. He doesn’t want her stop what she does or change he just wants her to let me help when needed.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

I loved this story. Sassy and smart, Sadie Stewart uses her beauty to model, and her intelligence and bravery to be a CIA agent at night. At first I was a little worried Sadie would be a Mary Sue—too perfect to be believable—but that definitely was not the case! She comes with a whole bag of faults and baggage and it makes her character not only complex, but intriguing. Sebastian is the love interest, and exceptionally drool-worthy. I mean, “his sensuous lips held a sexy, bad boy grin,” his broad shoulders fill up doorways, and he’s got a hero-needs-to-save-woman complex—even though the woman is a CIA agent and adeptly trained. *Swoon* Even the bad guys are dynamic. The glimpses into Bakari’s life and backstory made him believable and I actually felt for the guy. The story contains beautiful depicted scenes from international locations, so rich with detail I feel like I’m actually there. Having travelled a bit, I have been in some of the locations described, and the author absolutely nailed it. 5 Stars. Definitely recommend.

I found this book very interesting, and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I want to know what happens from here. Ordered both thru Amazon!

The premise was fun: super model cover for a CIA operative. A fellow model best friend, an autocratic photo shoot boss, and a very hot gallery owner. Loved the opening - could see it in my mind as the opening of a Bond movie! Her sore feet after walking in unsuitable shoes rang true. And the fast paced end could have been out of the Thomas Crown Affair except it wasn't the H/h getting away with the goods! I found the middle a little harder to get through as the back story for the villain was established. Maybe it was the misogynistic attitude of the villain as well as his belief in tarot cards and a seerer that I found harder to read about.

All in all an enjoyable read and a very complex first novel.

I received a copy for free through the Goodreads First Reads program.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC ,but that does not colour my review in any way.
★★★★★
An all action spy story.
Sadie is a world famous model, but is nearing thirty. The contracts will soon dry up, so she needs another string for her bow. Part time jewel thief, CIA operative or smuggler. Which is she???.
Sebastian is a wealthy art dealer with a wild streak. When his eyes connect with the beautiful woman in a mad boat chase he can't resist helping her. Danger follows this woman constantly. For a man who always does the right thing, is she good or bad.????
A grand adventure through the art world and mystic ancient Egyptian artifacts. Amsterdam to Cairo to New York. Fun and frolics, smiles and stilettoes, sex and friendship. It's all here. Great fun.

Brave, intelligent, beautiful and witty - Sadie Stewart seems to be unbeatable in this face-paced suspense series. But like every great spy adventure the bad guys are just as cunning and complex as the good guys. Nothing, and no one, is black and white in this story. Not the sexy Dutch art dealer, the mysterious Egyptian arms dealer, the father-figure CIA handler, or Sadie herself. Add this compelling cast of characters to boat chases, fashion shoots, sumptuous palace rendezvous and museum heists set in Venice, Amsterdam, Cairo and New York and you've got an adventure to be remembered.

Exciting Read

Ms Carson has woven a tale of intrigue and suspense that travels over Europe and into the depths of Egyptian beliefs. Sadie makes an awesome undercover agent and Sebastian is a hero any woman could fall for. A great first book by this amazing author.

Covert Danger is very reminiscent of the show, Covert Affairs. An empowered, strong woman uses her unique abilities to do what is right for her country. While on Sadie's journey, Ms. Carson allows you to visit various trip-worthy places: Amsterdam, Italy, Egypt, and New York City. The locations only add to the romance already building between the two main characters, Sadie and Sebastian. Their romance was of the James Bond insta-love connection type. The heat between the two of them was hot and got even hotter as the story progressed to a climactic explosion. She also exposes you to the art worldthe legit and black market—the modeling profession, and the different areas of law enforcement—the CIA, the Interpol, Private Investigators, and former military.

Sadie struggles during her journey to prove to herself and the CIA that she's a valuable spy and not only a pretty girl good at extracting info from the bad guys. Sebastian has to continually remind himself that Sadie is capable of taking care of herself and not in need of being rescued every moment. When they learn to work as a team, they become a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately, the bad guy escapes their clutches and continues exacting his evil deeds. I am eager to read the entire series to learn if Sadie will catch her mouse. It is a regular "will she or won't she" catch the bad guy tale. Read Carson's Covert Danger if you want a spicy romance to go with your suspenseful adventure about spies and stolen artifacts.

I so loved this story! It was like someone FINALLY made James Bond a female.....only mad her better and badder! It was great to be able to read about a strong woman, but who isn't afraid to walk on the wild side with Sebastian! The chemistry between Sadie and Sebastian is so hot, it jumps off the pages at you. I could not put this book down because just when I thought I got to a part I could take a break, I would walk away and then wonder what was going to happen and head right back to the book. Sadie has many sides to her like a beautiful faceted jewel and I loved reading about all of them. The locations she visits made me feel like I was with her on her jet setting adventures. This would be a book to not only add to your TBR pile, but keep it and re-read it from time to time.

Covert Danger has all the makings of a potential blockbuster movie: drop-dead gorgeous supermodel turned CIA agent (aptly nicknamed Mata Hari), hot blond giant who captures her heart, and a fast-paced plot filled with unexpected twists and turns. Ms. Carson has crafted a book rich in mood and atmosphere and populated it with intriguing and unforgettable characters. A natural storyteller, she excels at descriptive detail and, throughout the novel, demonstrates ample evidence of her impeccable research skills.

A must-read for fans of romantic suspense!

Sadie Stewart is a high fashion model who ferrets out secrets for the CIA when she's not stealing priceless jewellery or smuggling ancient artifacts. Beautiful, bright and a bit too brave for her own good she catches the eye of Sebastian, a Dutch art dealer just when she needs rescuing. Smitten he makes it his priority to take care of her in bed and out. A wonderful romantic, sexy romp which takes you from the canals of Venice to the historic streets of Amsterdam, a palace in Cairo and to New York city. With complex characters and steamy love scenes this is definitely a must read.

A fun, fast moving and fascinating tale.

The language is not for the faint of heart, but it is appropriate for the genre.

The research was impeccable and I felt as if I were there in Venice, Florence, Amsterdam, Cairo and New York, along with the characters. Both Sadie Stewart and Sebastian Wilde were very likeable, as were all the side characters, both good and bad, making Covert Danger a wonderful read.

I loved this book. It was one of my favorite books of the year. I love Sadie Stewart, fashion model by day, spy by night.
A fast paced, adrenaline filled adventure alternating between Venice, Amsterdam and New York it features a cunning and ruthless villain who will stop at nothing and a modern day Viking, Sebastian Wilde who loves her with al his heart, but is just a bit over-protective.

Original Writing

This is a great read which takes the reader to Venice, Egypt, Amsterdam and New York.
Sadie Steward is a spy and relic hunter; a cross between a female version of James Bond and Indiana Jones.
The author is to be complimented for the introduction of a new genre, original writing.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in her Mata Hari series.

Recieved free in exchange for an honest review. Overall I enjoyed this book. There were a couple edit problems and the sex was more descriptive then I am looking for in my mystery book. Belonged in one of my romances. The story line was good. The characters were good. I look forward to reading the next book

I received this book from Goodreads free for an honest review. I found this story interesting and action pack. I can't wait to read the entire series. The chemistry between Sadie and Sebastian is hot but I can't help but think if only she and Bakari AL-Sharb were meeting under other circomstances. Just what would happen between them.

Sadie Stewart is an undercover agent posing as a jewel thief with the cover of an international model. Nicknamed the Mata Hari by her superior Jeremiah, this became her code name. Her assignment is to find Bakari al-Sharif. A complication appears in the form of Sebastian. Who he is and what does he want. A good mystery.

I read this book on a road trip and I'm so glad I had the chance to read uninterrupted. I couldn't put it down! Sadie Sinclair is shockingly relatable for being a supermodel and a spy. And her love interest Sebastian came across as a European Chris Hemsworth. I'm not normally a spy or adventure reader, but the story had just enough supernatural undercurrent to keep me hooked. Highly recommended!

I loved this book. A fast-paced, engaging romantic suspense, I cheered for Sadie as she navigated through a tangle of secrets and intrigue.
Sebastian, or Seb, is a hunky, alpha male, and perfect for Sadie. I enjoyed reading how the two interacted and danced around each other. A definite must-read.

Covert Danger by Jerusha Agen is a Christian Romantic Suspense novel. It will keep you reading. As the second book in the Guardians Unleashed series, we get to continue to learn about the various members of the Phoenix K-9 Security and Detection Agency. This book centers around Amalia and her two K-9 partners—Raksa, a German shepherd protection and search and rescue K-9, and Gaston, a Newfoundland water rescue dog. Trying to run from her past and from God himself, this book really drew me into the story and the lives of the characters.

With witnesses needing protection, Amalia and the rest of the team help support the FBI in protecting them. But dangerous twists and turns will keep you reading. An orphan shows up and adds extra dimensions to the story.

Michael Barrett, the witness needing protection, actually knew Amalia in her past before she assumed a new identity (or two) and started running to avoid destruction from the past. I loved seeing his genuine desire to help, his feelings for Amalia, and his love of God. He definitely adds an impressive dimension to this story.

So, if you enjoy works of Christian romantic suspense, check out this book for yourself. I also recommend the rest of the books about the Phonenix K-9 Security and Detection Agency.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

A New Mara Hari

Sadie Stewart just seemed to be some model with the face of a goddess and the eyes of jade. But underneath everything she was a spy for the CIA. Sebastian Wilde is a art dealer who dabbles sometimes in Interpol’s cases. He sees Sadie and is intrigued by her to say the least. He finds out what he can about her but the info is convoluted due to her cover as a model. He swears that she is on the good side of the law but he has no idea how true he is to that truth. He follows her at every turn while she is trying her best to catch the bad guy Bakari Al-Sharif. But in the end they will find each other.

If you like action stories with some action, some romance, you’ll definitely enjoy Covert Danger. It even had a scene reminiscent to a scene in "the Italian Job” movie. It had likeable characters and you enjoyed Sabastian and Sadie and each definitely had secrets and a sense of humor and each had a knack of getting out of any particular situation that may crop up. Though some did have a consequence or two that they hadn’t counted on. There was also a mystery that kept you interested. So if you get a chance check it out and enjoy
