This is just cute. Vamp is so certain he, the mysterious vampire, the elegant creature of absolute cleverness has fooled these mere mortals roaming the halls who think he’s human, just like them! The fools! Of course, those fools do things like close the curtains in the room for his lessons, avoid him when they’ve eaten garlic, and treat him like the oh-so-innocent creature he is. It’s a hilarious dichotomy seeing the story from the melodramatic vampire and the charmed and doting students.
However, there’s not much to sink your teeth into with this manga; at least not yet, and I worry it’s going to continue to be a one note comedy. Maybe future volumes will give more depth to the characters and some actual plot. I’ll just have to read the next one to find out. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC!

This was an amusing first volume, full of irony, comedy and a hint of mystery!
Mr. Vamp is disguising himself as a teacher, and unbeknownst to him, his students know what he really is. The chapters weren't overly deep or meaningful, but were funny, especially how the students tried to ask questions or learn about him sneakily. We don't learn much, but it was comedic seeing how they went about it. The artwork was really beautiful too.
Since we've met some of the main cast, I'm hoping the second volume will give more deeper, bonding moments, or more backstory and info about Vampy!

Mr Vamp is a Vampire is a comedy following a teacher who is 'hiding' the fact that he's a vampire. Except the entire school is aware, despite his best 'efforts.' The story is both cute and charming; the characters are likable, and despite my initial concerns, it didn't feel too repetitive. However, I could see that becoming an issue in the future, so hopefully, as the manga progresses, we start to see a more solid plot form.
The art is reminiscent of old-school shoujo, which added to the charm of the manga. Thank you, NetGalley and Kodansha Comics, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mr. Vamp is a vampire who obviously lived through multiple eras and worked through different jobs. He's had to switch jobs often as most vampires would to prevent people from finding out that he's immortal. With his current job... he thinks he's so smart and elegant that no one knows he's a vampire. This is obviously not the case, as most of the student and staff have caught on & are secretly on a mission to keep him protected from the things that vampires fear (i.e. sunlight, garlic).
This was such a cute, fun, cozy read - something that can take your mind off of things if needed. I would call this one of my relax-reads, especially after a heavier series like Jujutsu Kaisen or Attack on Titans. I chuckled a lot at Mr. Vamp's antics. He seriously thinks he's so elegant and not suspicious at all... but who the heck wraps themselves up fully when doing community service.
The students are also hilarious. They all have a soft spot for Mr. Vamp, including the problem child in first year. Every one of them seems to want to protect Mr. Vamp, knowing what he is. We can see that none of them hold any sort of ill will against this teacher. I love how they kind of all go out of their way to pretend they also aren't aware he's a vampire, probably just so they don't spook him from quitting his job.
In overall, I would recommend this book for someone looking for a quick, fun-filled read. It's definitely not going to be something that will wow someone. However, I think it will be a series that may remain in my memory because of how hilarious and unique the story is. Definitely one of those series that will have a special place in my heart.

This was a fun manga. I liked the cast of characters and found the plot interesting and enjoyable to follow. The art style was really good as well and I'll keep my eye out for the next volume when it's released as this was such a fun time.

It’s basically a simple silly story about a hawt vampire who teaches at a school. The art of him will literally blow you away, he is indeed very very good looking 👍👍👍👍

If you took the recent series Tamamo-chan’s a Fox! and swapped the shrine guardian who thinks she’s completely concealing her identity to hang out in high school with Yoshiya Vamp, a vampire teaching high school? You’d have this goofy little thing.
I think Tamamo is a better series, in terms of both writing and art, but that’s no knock on this one. Comparable merits aside, this manages to be pretty damn funny even with a slightly rougher edge.
Needless to say, Yoshiya Vamp, or Vampy as the kids call him, is excruciatingly poor at disguising his lineage, not that anybody cares. As expected he has attracted a cadre of female admirers and at least one creepy teacher.
Pretty much all the comedy comes from Yoshiya trying to blend in and being so ungodly awful at it. When he’s teaching Japanese history and refers to Admiral Perry by his first name, it nearly killed me.
And so it goes. Yoshiya also manages to pass through doors constantly in his mist form and have an extreme aversion to sunlight, so the usual. I was impressed at how much classic vampire lore got brought into this - he even has trouble crossing running water at one point.
That’s pretty much the whole bit, but mixed in with some real weirdos. They can be a little off-putting, but in a weird comedic way that feels like it works better than it should.
The creepy teacher who is really into Yoshiya because of an old manga ends up being pretty amusing because everybody knows he’s a weirdo and it doesn’t seem to phase him in the least.
It’s absolutely over the top in its way. Yoshiya definitely goes in for the kill on one of his female students before rethinking, which leads to a great bit of physical comedy, and his obsessive female student is as like as not to throw down if somebody gets in the way of her bias.
Not essential, but kind of fun, I had a good time with this. Yoshiya’s encounter with a delinquent and his cross-shaped earring blossoms into this tsundere thing that pays off later in the volume illustrates that there’s some thought behind it and not just the most obvious jokes.
It also has a smidgen of pathos for somebody who is living a long, immortal life amongst people whose lifespans are anything but. No, it isn’t Frieren, but I was glad that it wasn’t entirely gags with no substance.
3.5 stars - not the best example of type, but a pretty good one all the same. Rounded up because it did make me laugh and sometimes that’s all it takes.

Our protagonist is gorgeous, gothic, and apparently under the impression that he is successfully concealing the fact that he is a vampire. Sir. You are not subtle. At all. The funniest part is that everyone seems to know anyway and has simply decided to play along.
The school setting works perfectly, the whole cast is ridiculously sweet, and underneath all the vampire shenanigans, this is just such a warm and wholesome read. I loved these characters and their dynamic so much.
Vol. 1 has officially done its job because now I need to read ALL of the stories. More terrible vampire secrecy, please.

This manga was super funny and a great introduction to series. The story is basically that Mr. Vamp is SO bad at pretending he's not a vampire that the whole school just pretends they don't know. That's the joke, and it works great in this setting.
The art is also really pretty, reminded me a lot of 2000s-shojo-manga art style.

A vampire decides to try his hand at teaching high school, choosing the oh-so-subtle "Mr. Vamp" as his professional name; his students are not fooled.
Mr. Vamp's firm belief that he is successfully masquerading as a human, despite his students making sure the blinds are always closed and they stay away from him if they've eaten garlic, makes for a delightfully silly book. This was just a joy to read and I'm looking forward to volume two.

This was a fun read! Mr. Vamp thinks that no one can tell that he isn't a vampire, but they definitely can but they're hiding it. It does remind me of those shojo manga's because they tend to repeat things. I like the characters and the art especially Mr. Vamp's design! Overall, it's really cute!
