Miranda North lives in the Chicago area. After ten years of working as a feature writer and editor for business magazines, she took a sabbatical to fulfill her lifelong dream of writing a romance novel, and was thrilled when Zebra published that first book, Desert Slave. She has a degree in anthropology and is now able to combine her interest in writing and in the study of man in a single career — writing historical romances!

Reading this book reminded me of when I'd watch old movies with my mom, and after they ended, so many times she'd say, "that was good, but very far-fetched". Well, the same goes for this story, which is entertaining in the extreme, but totally unbelievable at the same time. If you're looking for a novel even slightly based on what could happen in real life, then this isn't for you. But if you're looking for a novel that is a lot of fun, then this definitely is it!!

I enjoyed the society storyline very much. But I didn’t feel that there was enough intrigue and conflict there. The whole “revenge” plot line for Deron was totally lost to me until the end.
And there was not a whole lot of back story about Deron as there was for Meredith. Which I found disappointing.
