Losing anyone can be devastating, but losing a sister feels like the end of the world. The one bright spot is that Melody gets to experience all of her sister’s best qualities through her niece, Olivia.

Olivia and Melody are navigating a new reality and are seemingly finding their rhythm. Life is beginning to feel less stifling, especially when the two stumble upon a box of cassette tapes. The memories bring them happiness in ways they can’t imagine.

Wanting the best for her niece, Melody enlist the help of therapist Eli Hanna but she quickly learns that he’s also becoming the one person she can depend on as well. When she feels the small flutters of something taking flight, Melody has to decide if it’s the right time to give love a try.

Dr. Hanna isn’t the kind of man who believes in missing out on something great so he’s more than willing to give her plenty of reasons to not only trust her heart, but to trust it with him.

They say death comes in three’s and for Melody this is exactly what she’s experienced after losing her mother, father and twin sister in rapid succession. Before she could catch her breath good, tragedy struck again. The only bright light she has at the end of her dark tunnel is her niece Olivia. Her sister left behind the best parts of herself in her daughter and this has brought Mel a level of comfort she didn’t know she needed.

While navigating through her own grief and helping her niece do the same, Mel came across a box of cassette tapes while cleaning out her family home. Her sister must’ve known that these tapes would be just what she and her daughter would need to soothe their aching hearts. Mel had no idea that she recorded so much of their childhood growing up and reliving these memories while learning something new along the way provided comfort to them both.

Dr. Hanna has had his sights set on Mel for 3 years now however hospital policy prohibits work place romance! After loosing her sister and realizing tomorrow isn’t promised, Mel threw caution to the wind and shot her shot and let’s just say Dr. Hanna was right there to make sure it went in the net! This man was ready and willing to be all that Mel and Olivia needed and the way he cared for their mental and physical was everything!! With the help of these cassettes and her newfound love, Melody knew that in the end brighter days were ahead.

I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED the concept of this book! From the cassette tapes to the healing journey that Mel and Olivia were on was spot on! Where the book missed the mark for me was the chemistry between Mel and Eli. It was lightening fast and the authors goal to have us believing that they’ve always had a thing for each other wasn’t convincing. If it was written more as a work place friends to lovers then I think it would have flowed better and made for a more believable romance. I also didn’t vibe with the drama of Stephanie and Dr. Kimba as well as Cameron’s excuse for not knowing about Pheobe. It felt like it was written to create conflict but didn’t really fit. With a few tweaks this book had the potential to be amazing!

I have no idea how I found this book or this author but i'm so glad I did! This story was so beautiful. It’s a 10/10 for me, so much more than a romance! The amount of loss Melody experienced in such a short time was heartbreaking. I can’t imagine going through any of that and somehow staying strong and positive for Ollie! Their relationship really touched me. They looked out for each other but it never felt like Ollie was too grown. They were really in this grief and healing thing together.

I love the concept of the cassettes, it was so unique! I enjoyed how it helped the family find healing. I am not someone who gets overly emotional with books but that last tape from Phoebe pulled a few tears out! It was like she knew what was ahead and she knew everything that needed to be said! The tapes and Eli came at just the right time. I loved that he was a psychiatrist. The girls were so comfortable with him but it never felt like he was being overly therapeutic. He was just a good guy, attentive and supportive. I never wanted to beat some kids up so bad in my life but Ollie got hands and if she didn’t Eli was shutting ish down for Ollie!! Eli just popped up and put Melody and Ollie back together. I loved absolutely every second of this!

To Be Able To Have Peace!

Jen Elle, good read. The changes Ollie and Melody endured would have some people never be able to bounce back. Thanks for showing people of color need help also. This read is so touching, I don't know how anyone could not read this and fall in love.🤗🤗🤗

Absolutely loved this amazing story! What a great idea that Phoebe had, to record her thoughts and feelings. This allowed the bond between her and Ollie, her daughter, to continue after Phoebe's death.

Melody and Eli's journey was the icing on the cake. Awesome story!
