Rose Red will stop at nothing to protect her sister, Snow White, from suffering the same fate as their mother. She vows to kill Hestor, the evil dwarf sorcerer responsible for her death. But a twist of fate lands her on the bottom of a riverbed, and her life in the hands of a mysterious stranger. Marcus is a beast of a man. He is a bear by day, man by night, thanks to a curse from the evil Hestor. When he rescues Rose from an icy grave, he unleashes the real animal. Falling for her is dangerous enough, as he must protect the secret of his curse. But she may just be the key to getting his kingdom back, as she breaks one spell and puts him under another.
Wren Michaels hails from the frozen tundra of Wisconsin where beer and cheese are their own food groups. But then a cowboy swept her off her feet and carried her away to Texas where she promptly lost all tolerance for snow and cold. They decided they’d make beautiful babies together and they got it right on the first try. Now Wren lives happily ever after in the real world and in the worlds of her making, where she creates book boyfriends for the masses to crave.
Recently I read a re-do of the Rose Red fairy-tale that I grew up with. Wren Michaels took the fairy tale I loved and told it with a completely different twist. I am not someone who reads erotica often, but I loved the way that Ms. Michaels was able to take characters I once knew and reintroduce them to me.
In 'Unbearable', Ms. Michaels took Rose Red and made her a strong, independent woman who wasn't afraid to get naked and demand what she wanted from a bed-partner. A strong, sexual woman instead of the shrieking virginal violet most fairy tale heroines are. This story was a novella, but I would have liked a little more back-story. I can see great possibilities with further expanding this story and making it a full-length novel and/or series.
The story line was fresh, the characters were developed but in a full-length novel could have been even more so. The writing was engaging. Yes, I will be reading more from this author. I give this book 4 starts - but only because I thought it could have had a bit more story development and could have been made into a novel but that is just my personal preference.

I recommend that if you love quick-read romances and fairytales.

Rose is determined to avenge her mothers death and protect her sister from Hester the sorcerer. When things go wrong one night it's the mysterious Marcus who saves her.
He is tired of the curse turning into a bear every day and knows killing Hester can free him. He's seen the firey red head lure man after man into the forest and come out alone and knows she can help him.
She's fiesty and he's more than dominate enough to handle her.
These two steam up the pages chapter after chapter. This was a short read taking just over an hour for me to read and made a great book to have a glass of wine with!. My only complaint was that I just wish there would have been more detail to the story. Overall a good quick read.
With the fairytale nature of this story, I was able to suspend disbelief over the quickness of Rose and Marcus' relationship. I found this story quite enjoyable and diverting with the fairytale twists. I don't normally read erotica but liked this one quite a bit. I look forward to reading about Rose's sister, Snow, in the next story.
Hey ya'll, So I had the amazing opportunity of reviewing the sexy fairy-tale Unbearable by Author Wren Michaels. First off let me make it known that if you are not at least 17 years or older than you should not be reading this book due to some descriptive sexual content placed in this novella.
When I was told that this book was a novella (which is a shorter version of a novel) I thought it was going to lack detail and that the characters were going to be underdeveloped, but I was wrong.
Unbearable was very descriptive and used a broad range of terms that sucks a reader into reading this book from start to finish. I enjoyed how Michaels took a classic fairy-tale icon like Little Red Riding Hood and turned her into this loudmouth, bodacious, young woman that is appropriate and current to this generation of the 21st century.
What I also enjoyed even more is how consistent the characters were and how the characters were able to grow as well. Michaels I feel made sure to keep the individuality of the characters like Snow white and Prince Darien while showing other sides that they had emotionally instead of keeping them as flat characters (Characters that stay the same).
Michaels has created a brilliant piece of work for adults (17 & up) of this generation. I felt this book was great and hit the mark all the way around. I have yet to see a novella that lives up to this heightened reputation that Michaels has established.
Unbearable is worth the read and the money! For information on where to purchase this novel just click on the link: Amazon Wren Michaels

Wow this book was HOT! It takes a classic fairy tale, Snow White and Rose Red, and retells it for grown ups only! This was one of my favorite tales as a child, so re-reading this version was a real pleasure. The romance is thrilling and oh so steamy. The characters are well written, and my overall thought is that it just wasn't long enough!
We have Rose, who is set to avenge her mother's death by killing those associated with it. Her ulterior motive is to protect her innocent sister, knowing Snow White remains in danger until they and the wizard responsible, are destroyed. Enter Marcus, the bear prince. Their attraction and relationship is steamy, intense, and HOT! Cursed by the same wizard, the prince is forced to spend each day as a bear. But his nights with Rose... oh my!
I finished this book, and started immediately on the next one. Read them both in one sitting, so the only negative is that I wished they were longer! I loved it!
Unbearable is a short, steamy, fast paced, twisted take on an old fairy tale. Rose hunts in the forest, slaying the men who helped kill her mother. She vows revenge on every single one, including Hestor the Dwarf Sorcerer. While running home, Rose slips and falls into the icy river and is rescued by Marcus. He takes her to his cabin and strips her to dry her clothes. Rose is afraid and tries to escape, but become aroused by his nakedness and wild roughness. Marcus has a secret that he can’t share, so she goes home the next day with a promise to return to him the following night.
I really enjoyed the spin on the original tale. The author created an intense passion between Rose and Marcus that made me want to read on. The evil Hestor was easy to despise because of what he has done to Marcus and to Rose’s family. I’m curious about this being a series and seeing where the story leads. I highly suggest you put aside an evening to read this one in one sitting. You won’t be able to put it down.
Wren Micheals has written a tantalizing story based loosely of off the fairy tale Snow White. In this retelling Snow is in a tiny cottage at the edge of the haunted woods where her "sister" Rose Red (whom I assume is little red riding hood) and her live.
These two have a connection to a wicked evil sorcerer named Hestor that has conjured a curse that Red knows how to vanquish. Night after night, Red goes out and takes the vital steps needed to vanquish the evil. Little does she know that something is lurking in the haunted woods.
Before long she has found herself vulnerable almost on the brink of death at the bottom of the frozen river. When darkness envelopes her, a savoir dips his hands into the darkness and pulls her back.
What I have told you is a rehash of the first few pages, get comfy and read on. Its soooooooo exciting and wonderfuly satisfying that your hunger for love will be extinguished.
5 Stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl hat!

I loved this book. Just loved it. I am a fan of the Grimm Fairy Tales, and not many know there was a second Snow White and Red. The story of Rose Red (or Briar Rose) isn't done very ofter with her sister Snow White, and I loved that Wren brought this fairy tale to light. Hestor was just as evil in this story as he was in the original tale, and I couldn't wait to see him DEAD!
And the romance? HAWT! Marcus and Rose fit together in ways that no one would understand, and I loved that Wren made it very obvious to the reader that these two fell in love because of the darkness they'd gone through, that it wasn't just about mating or a pre-destined conclusion. I couldn't wait to pick up Bad Apple and see how Darien and Snow found their way!
How can you not love a twisted fairy tale? Rose Red is often in the haunted forest taking out men, one by one, who helped kill her mother. One day she doesn't quite make it out and finds herself in peril, but thanks to a man who lives in the forest she is saved from certain death. Marcus has been watching Rose all along in her deadly deeds, so when she fell he was compelled to save her. Sparks fly between the two...but Marcus is holding a secret that he is not will to share...just yet. If you like twisted...this is a fun book to read!
Yeah, Red was FABULOUS! I liked her right away. She was tough, smart, strong, beautiful and she did what she had to do. Marcus was a great, not always so angelic, guy. The chemistry between them was sizzling. I loved the bear shifter twist!
I have no other words to describe this book it's that good! Couldn't put it down.
This was a fast read but it never stopped with all the action and love making between 2 people. Rose Red has found a man but leaves all day and will protect her.
I loved this from beginning to end and would love more of it!
I loved this story from start to finish. Devoured it in just a couple hours during a long flight, and kept swiping the screen, trying to find more words. It was just so, so good. My only complaint is that I can't now purchase this in hardcopy, because it's only available in electrons :-( LOVED IT! Will read a ton more from this author.
First, I have to say, anything with an evil dwarf is right up my alley. I don't often read in this genre, but the author's strong characterization, especially of the iron willed Rose Red, the addition of the fantastical, with the mixture of erotica made this a powerful read in it's genre.
A sexy tale! Excellent plot, just the right amount of steamy scenes mixed with some suspenseful action. Well rounded characters that you can easily fall in love with. overall and excellent read! Is this a series that I will continue reading? absolutely.
This was the first book I've read by Wren Michaels. It was a hot, steamy, fast paced original twist on a fairy tale. A short and hot read- I'm diving into book two. I want more of Red, who is feisty, smart and a strong female character. I loved her backbone and wit. Now - onto book 2 !!
I absolutely loved this .... i wasn't quite sure on the whole fairy tale thing but Wren made is over the top sexy . I read the 2nd book first and loved it so i went back and got the first one to see if it was just as good and i wasn't disappointed . So hot an sexy very descriptive . I would definitely recommend these to anyone and everyone .
Unbearable by Wren Michaels is a wonderful retelling of fairy tales.
Rose Red is wreaking vengence on the men responsible for her mothers death. As she lures the men into the haunted wood, she's unaware she is being watched.
When Rose meets Marcus, he has secrets of his own.
Perhaps they can save each other. Is there a happily ever after in their future?
