The necrons descend upon the maiden world of Carnac. The deathless legions march across the verdant plains of the eldar world, bringing destruction to all in their path. With the skeins of fate clouded and the future uncertain, Farseer Eldorath Starbane unleashes the hosts of Alaitoc upon their ancient enemy. In an attempt to end the war at a stroke, Starbane sends Illic Nightspear and his rangers to assassinate the necron overlords – but when the mission goes wrong, it falls to an embittered and nihilistic Crimson Hunters exarch, an ambitious autarch and the long dead of the craftworld to try and save Carnac… or to hold off the necrons long enough for the world’s inhabitants to escape.
It’s packed with fast-paced chase scenes and epic battles. This book contains three stories focusing on different perspectives of the same brutal war. The story begins with the covert assassination attempt of a necron lord, before we are whisked into the middle of a deadly fighter pilot air strike. Finally, two undead armies meet in a cataclysm of metal and deathly spirits.
This Novella comprise the previously released stories Nightspear by Joe Parrino, Sky Hunter by Graeme Lyon and Spirit War by Rob Sanders.

Absolutely brilliant book. The nekron awaken to attack the exodite world of Carnac and the eldar warriors of Alaitoc come to help them. The grimdark feel of the collection is chilling and the final battle in which the eldar awoke their own undead army is probably one of the most epic things I have ever read!
This was an excellent short piece about the Eldar-Necron war for the planet, Carnac. It is very intense and the writing style is both epically heroic and tragic.
Good short story on the Eldar. Shows how implacable the Necrons can be and if the tomb is allowed to awaken there is no stopping them. The 2nd story especially about the pilots was my favourite and I would very much like to see it continued.
Really 2 short stories and 1 novella all set around the same battle on the Eldar world of Carnac. The writing is quite weak on the first of the short stories, the second is better but not by much. The finale novella is quite enjoyable and provides insight into the Eldar life after death in the Infinity Circuit. Not a book for a casual reader certainly but if you're interested in knowing the Eldar side of the Carnac campaign or more on the Wraith its worth it for the final story for the dedicated Eldar fan.
