Rogue Alpha #2

Taming His Mate

Rate this book
For shifter Logan Dix, being bonded to a Lone werewolf hasn’t been a bed of roses, especially when his mate, Kristof Two-Feather, won’t stick around long enough to settle. It’s enough to drive a Rogue Alpha to extreme measures like romantic getaways to Florida.

But Dix’s plans to tame his mate are upended when the simple extraction job he was hired for goes sideways, placing Dix and Kristof in danger. Luckily, the two former Special Forces soldiers have plenty of practice getting out of trouble. It’s the settling down part that they need to get right, otherwise, Kristof’s Lone nature and Dix’s need to Bond will drive them apart.

A 15,000 word novella. Book 2 in the Rogue Alpha Series.

I really enjoyed the first story of this series, Claiming His Mate. There was an offer of this story at the end of Claiming if one wrote a review. I did and received this book, no review required. I immediately read Taming His Mate when I got home from work because I wanted to see how Logan and Kristof's relationship works out.

The story picks up 5 months after Claiming ends. We find Logan becoming quite the home body, he even gives up his overseas work for domestic assignments to be there if/when Kristof comes home. Kristof's been feeling Logan's lure and comes home to find Logan has taken an assignment in Florida. They decide both go to Florida and vacation afterwards. Having been to Florida many times, I liked the dig Kristof made about Tampa and Orlando. It's not all about the mouse for him (unlike my sister who goes EVERY year).

Logan's assignment goes FUBAR and we get a tease that there might be more to Kristof than we (and Logan) know. I would definitely call this a tease and not a cliffhanger. What I like about both stories so far is that even though they are part of a larger story and are only around the 50 page mark they are pretty self contained, complete stories where you don't feel "gutted" when they end. We all have read or have written unhappy reviews about this especially with short PNR and contemporary romance reads.

I mentioned in my review for the first book that I appreciated the more realistic relationship that Logan and Kristof have. There's a blow up between them in this book and what Logan lets happen makes so much sense and shows how caring Logan is.

Definitely looking forward to Trusting His Mate (#3) and hopefully learning more about Kristof's secret.

Continues a bit after the first one (Claiming His Mate, so it should be read in order!). Dix is at home, in Jackson Hole, awaiting his mates return to him. Seeing no recourse he accepts a job with the syndicate to bide his time. Kristof finally shows up and Dix invites him along or the trip so they can spend time together (since Kristof is still distancing himself in their relationship and Dix doesn't want that). So on a night after Dix does recon for his mission they decide to meet for dinner but while Dix is waiting on his mate to show he gets hit on my a human (who is bad news later on). When Kristof sees this he goes into a fit of jealousy resulting in him claiming Dix. Good intentions go awry when Kristof is caught by the enemy side and used against Dix in his mission.

Fantastic installment. Dix and Kristof are lovely to see together and I like seeing them banter and Kristof trying to keep Dix on his toes. Dix going into a alpha rage and fighting to defend his mate was just awesome to read. The action was a highlight for me. A drugged up Kristof was a adorable. I loved how it acted as his truth serum and having him confess to his feeling on Dix and just got rid of the aloofness. The author did have me curious about Kristof when he mentioned that the truth about him might be a catalyst to the end of his relationship with Dix.

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review
Dix has found what he was looking for, a mate. But his mate, Kristof, is a lone wolf, and bonding is far from what he wants to do. Dix is working hard trying to convince his mate of the benefits of being together. He even plans a romantic holiday for both of them… which turns into something really dangerous.
I really like these two, Dix and Kristof. Both are stubborn and loyal. In this instalment of the series, we find Dix trying to charm his mate, and Kirstof trying to keep his distance, as always. Kristof refuses to acknowledge his attachment, but when he sees another man approaching Dix he feels jealous, something he does not like, and his reaction is … interesting.
There is a bit of action and a lot of humour in this story, what with the pups at the beginning and honestly, Kristof under the effects of drugs, trying to be romantic… that’s hilarious. There is a bit of mystery as well… What is the secret Kristof keeping from Dix? That’s one of the things I want to know. I also want to know what is going to happen next, now that they are going to try living together… I’m just looking forward to the next instalment. This is just getting better!

I loved this book as much as the first one, perhaps more. The relationship between Dix and Kristof is so touching(no pun intended) as each man struggles with this new bond they have formed. I also like the fact that, as in the previous book, the author does not overload the book with sex scenes. Yes, there is sex(of course there is sex, they are a mated pair after all)but every time they have sex is not detailed...but what is detailed is hot! I know I will be re-reading this story(especially the bar scene). Like the first book, this book does not end in a cliffhanger.
This is an awesome story and I cannot wait to read the next book.

I'm really enjoying this series, so much so that I wish the books were longer. I do think they would make great full length books.

This story felt like an episode of a TV series with Dix heading off on a mission where things don't go according to plan. There's some action and heroics and the development of the relationship with Kristof. Now I'm eagerly waiting the next installment so I see if Kristof finally gives up his Lone Wolf ways. And just what is that secret he is hiding?

Highly recommended for a quick read.

This series just gets better!

I love Lissa's writing style. She draws you into Logan and Kristof's world that just doesn't run as smoothly as Logan would like.

There are definitely angst filled moments and my heart hurts for Logan as he struggles to not push his mate too far too fast.

I love this series! I just wish they were longer. I can't wait to read book 3 and I hope to find out more about the secret oganization that Dix works for and why Two Feather is always on the run. I love these two MC'S and hope book 3 isn't the end of the series.

If you liked Claiming His Mate, you'll like this book too as Dix & Kristof's story continues. It's full of angst and action as Dix and Kristof struggle to figure out how to make thier new relationship work while on assignment in Florida to complete an easy extraction that goes bad quickly.

This was an amazing follow up book! These two are the most amazing couple..

They both were kind of tortured.... on fighting his natural instinct to fully claim his mate and be around him all the time and the other fighting his instinct to go it alone and not be tied down... these two really struggle with their natures but somehow make exceptions where necessary.

Can’t wait to read the next book!

3.5 stars!

Great follow up. The characters are getting to know each other but are still hitting a lot of bumps in the road. Looking forward to seeing how they make it work.

Moving on to book 3

I’m still wondering what Kristof’s secret is. I found this a little too short and underdeveloped though I like the characters.

Received this book free for an honest review, that being said, this book was just as great as book 1. The characters are just so well developed and thought out. I read book 2 first thing this morning from start to finish, simply because it was just too good to stop. The excitement kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. I'm still very worried about Dix getting his heart utterly broken by Kristof, but I am pulling for Kristof to have a change of heart and realize that he doesn't have to be a Lone wolf, that loving Dix is just right. My only complaint about the books is that I wish they were longer.

>1 hour read time. several times I felt "meh" when reading this, as with the first book in the series I had no connection with the characters the whole claiming mounting scenting could have been expanded on 'why the need' but no the reader is left with making their own reasons . still felt the need for more back story. as far as werewolf shifter books go this wasn't the worst I've read but definitely not the best either, it fell short of what the first book delivered and that one could have been expanded into quiet the story. waiting to see if bk 3 is better?

This middle book in the trilogy was characterized by the same steam and action-adventure of the first book. There was an extremely charged sex scene and a dangerous op to keep things racing along. I have to say though that it felt a lot like a bridge between the first and the next. While I really enjoyed the story, it was really short and, for the first time, I really felt like the whole group should have been one single longer work. I was lucky enough to get a deal for all three at once so I can't wait to find out how the direction hinted at the end of this book plays out in the third!

My comments remain nearly the same as posted for the first title, with two positive notes. I did appreciate the cliff hanger of this second one and the role reversal added some needed variety to their bedroom action.

I'm still a tad disappointed that some of these key concepts in her shifter world - Lone / Rogue - remain underdeveloped or easily manipulated to fit the plot twist at hand. But, I remind myself I'm reading shorts here, and that's a bit of an unfair bar. On to the last.

Ehhh... soooo much of this book was dealing with military nonsense. I really don't care? at all? about the fancy special ops mission crap. Like. Not even a little bit.

But their relationship made progress and hinted at even further progress that would happen in the next book, so it wasn't all bad. :P Could've been better.

I received this story for an honest review. This one seemed to be a faster read than the first one but I still enjoyed it! I love how Two-Feather is fighting what he really feels but isn't successful. I really love Dix's character, he is compelled to mate and is willing to wait for Two-Feather to come to his senses, I just hope he doesn't get hurt with all his waiting! On to book 3!

Real rating 3 1/2 stars. The action in this one was Incredible.
Rounded down from a possible 4 stars because it had me googly-eyed alot and the action was great But.! there wasn't anything that blew my mind or almost blew my mind. Most of my ratings are gut-feeling and this one just doesn't scream 4 STARS to me.

I loved getting to know the main characters a little better in this book. I can't wait to keep reading and find out all of their secrets! Wish they were longer, but I'm glad each story is mostly resolved at the end and not a big cliffhanger.

Kristof and Dix head off to Florida for a little bussiness and a little pleasure. Mix in some jealousy and illegal drugs, and you have one sweet and sexy story. Kristof realizes he may want to be bound to Dix.
